From Ch3: Chris's phone rang loudly, the time warp blasted from his phone as an unrecognised number illuminated on his screen. He felt a sudden chill down his spine he knew, he didn't know how but he knew, something was wrong with Rye.

`Hello?' Chris said into the phone, his hands trembling with nerves.

`Hello is this Chris?' came a soft gentle woman's voice.

`Yes it is' Chris said not recognising the woman

`I am so sorry, but I'm afraid' the woman hesitated `their has been an accident...involving Ryan.' The woman finished her sentence taking in a sharp breath.

Chris felt a cold sensation sweep over his body, his hands and feet went numb, his mouth went incredibly dry and his eyes started to sting with salty tears.

`Where?' Chris asked his voice cracking with grief.

`The Hospital, Ward 5' the woman explained.

Chris pushed the `END CALL' button on his phone and started running, he took his keys out of his pocket and swung his leg over his motorbike, he shoved his key's in the ignition and the engine roared like an angry demon and sped off into the main road. Swerving and turning Chris wasn't letting anything get in his way, he had to see Ryan, and he had to be by his side he just had to. He looked up and saw it the great looming building of the Hospital, the hundreds of lights flooding out of the windows and a couple of patients and nurses conversing in front of the main doorway.

Chris parked in front of the Hospital, jumped off his bike and ran for the front door, they swung open mechanically as Chris approached them revealing a reception area with faded marble floors, patients sitting around talking to family members, a giant oak desk with three women sitting behind them their perfectly manicured nails hammering on computer keyboards.

Chris stopped bolt dead in front of the desk slightly out of breath, the woman before him had white blonde hair that was tightly twisted into a bun, not a single hair out of place. Make up dawned her face, too much had been used and she looked like a failed painting but her eyes, her eyes were those of a woman that had seen people slip into the arms of death and her eyes revealed she half wished to slip along with them.

`May I help you?' the woman asked pulling her eyes from her computer screen and casually taking a sip of Coffee.

`Ryan Pendleton... where is he' Chris demanded still trying to catch his breath.

The woman hammered again on her computer, letting out a few puffs of air as if Chris had somehow bugged or interrupted her.

`Ward 5, that's on the fifth floor' the woman said her voice patronizing and impatient.

Chris rolled his eyes as he crossed the reception are and started pushing the button for `Up' continuously. The Elevator whirred and choked ands it came to a stop and the melt doors slid back revealing a small square room with metal panels and a panel with buttons to press. He stepped inside and slammed his thumb into the `Floor 5' button and the doors clunked as once again they shut themselves. Time seemed to slow to a crawl, as the elevator got closer and closer to `Floor 5' the fear rose in Chris's heart and mind pounding through his system.

The metal doors slid open, a green door started in front of Chris with a sign lazily hung on the handle `Ward 5'.He pushed gently on the door opening it and walking through, this ward was quiet far too quiet even for a hospital. 3 nurses in pristine blue uniforms sat behind desks sipping tea and gossiping a bubbly ginger haired one whose nose stuck out a little approached Chris.

`May I help you?' she asked, her voice gentle and kind.

`Yes I'm looking for Ryan, Ryan Pendleton' Chris answered the words falling out of his mouth.

The nurses turned pale and tried to smile.

`Right this way' she said leading Chris down the corridor to the very end, where a solid wood door was, she opened it with ease and let Chris in scurrying away before she could witness his reaction.

Chris felt the tears slide down his face before he felt them stinging his eyes, Ryan was laying his eyes closed on a hospital bed his face was badly cut and bruised and his hair was not its usual beautifulness it was unclean and dense. This person that lay before him was a shadow of Ryan. Chris grabbed the sheet of paper on the desk and read the word `Comatose'.

Chris rushed to the chair beside Ryan, took hold of his hand, it was freezing. His tears were falling thick and fast from his eyes how could this have happened? Why Ryan?

`Ryan I don't know if you can hear me' Chris let out a sob `but its me Chris, pleaser Rye you gotta wake up, I cant survive without you. You're MY Ryan, you don't have a choice here please open your eyes, please come back to me. I love you.'

Chris finally broke down and held his head in his hands sobbing and crying the pain in his heart was like a thousand pieces of broken glass jabbing him constantly.

Chris cried and cried for 3 hours, not once letting go of Ryan's hand. He realized he needed the bathroom and slowly stood up his head facing the floor as he walked mechanically to the toilet.

After he was done he started to go back to Ryan's room, but instead took a detour to the roof, it was thundering with rain as if the gods themselves were weeping over Ryan and the stars twinkled in the jet-black sky.

Chris cast his eyes into the sky and fell to his knees, the tears coming once again.

`Please god, I don't know if your their or not but please give him back to me, please send my Rye back please' Chris fell into a lying position in the pouring rain `please please please'
