Mom said “Billy, if you were up for adoption, I’d adopt you in a second, but since we can’t do that -- I would like you to consider us, Benny and me, part of your family. You now have a new big brother named Benny.”
She said “Billy, I’d be happy to hear what you have to say”.
Billy said “First I want you to know that I asked Benny if he was OK with me talking to you about his feelings. I’d never want to betray his trust.”
Billy continued,”My mom mentioned some of the concerns you had about how Billy was coping with all that was happening in his life these past few months. My Mom and I were concerned too.”
Billy shared that Benny said “He was emotionally devastated when his dad died. I’m sure we all knew that. But you may not know that he was deeply concerned about you too.”
Mom interrupted, “No I wasn’t aware of that. Please tell me more.”
