Date: Wed, 31 Jan 2001 21:39:38 -0000 From: Jamie Subject: Chris-and-Jamie Chapter 23 Same stuff - don't read this is u r underage or u don't like reading stories of love between two boys. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To Simon - luv u forever! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ I think the same thought passed through all of our minds at once. `They wouldn't...would they?' And the answer came almost immediately. `Yes...they would.' I felt Chris's hand grab mine and hold it tight, as Lee sidled over at the head of his small army. I could almost feel the ground tremor as he came closer. It was one of the most frightening situations I have ever been in. As he reached us, he came to a stop, and the knife came out. Brandishing his new friend he laughed with the others and pressed it against Chris's chest. I saw him wince as the cold metal touched against his thin cotton shirt. `So...what are we going to do with the three queers, here? Anyone have any suggestions?' He looked around and was greeted with a veil of grins from his cronies. Why do bullies like these always hunt in packs -- cowards! Ciaran had decided to stand up for our side. `Don't be stupid, Lee. You know what you'll get if you touch us with those.' Lee's face changed slightly as he recalled the three-week suspension he had received for breaking Chris's nose last year. Then it morphed back into the normal glare and he put more pressure on the knife at Chris's chest. I was so hurt to see my boyfriend at the mercy of this insane tormenter. A tear had begun to form in one corner of his left eye, that was it; I couldn't take this anymore. `What the hell do you think you're gonna get from this. You gonna make us all disappear or something -- cuz I would've planned it better myself...' I reached inside my pocket and felt around for my mobile phone. `...So what are you going to do then?' There was no reply. Ciaran looked around the back of Chris and saw what I was doing. He immediately picked up the conversation -- trying to get them to focus on him. Chris was still at the mercy of Lee and his knife. I touched `5' and pressed the `call' button. The speakerphone kicked in, and I turned the speakers off. Now whoever was at the other end could hear us only, and the others couldn't hear them. ---------------------------------------------------------------- `Hello? Hello? What the hell?' Simon was getting rather confused at the phone call he had just received. Then he heard a voice crackle into life in the background. `Are you really gonna use those knives on us, and right outside the school gates?' Ciaran's voice came through and Simon recognised it immediately. ---------------------------------------------------------------- The phone idea obviously hadn't worked and I soon gave up on it. One of Lee's bigger friends then came up to me and mimicked Lee's action with the knife, pressing it to my breast. `I wonder what you look like inside? Are gay little faggots like you different to us normal people?' Oh god, this kid was dumb. I almost felt sorry for him. Reasoning with Lee or any of his followers did nothing. Well, with an IQ of 4, what can you expect? Time was beginning to run out, and I knew that they were not content to just stand there and stare at us. The notion of the knife tearing into my flesh was horrifying, but it was nothing compared to what I felt when I thought of the same thing happening to Chris. The tear that had been forming, was now trailing down his left cheek, followed in quick succession by another. My own eyes were beginning to run, I was terrified! That is, I was terrified, until Simon, Mark and Oliver strode around the corner of the school gates with Miss Reptor and Mr Ford tailing behind them. All at once there was confusion. Lee dropped his knife and was going to run for it, with all his other friends, but the Raptor called after them. `Turner! You move one inch and you'll be officially off school property, not protected from the law of the land and I shall be able to slap your ass in a police cell! As it is, it is Jamie, Chris and Ciaran's decision as what to happens -- at the moment!' Lee turned and came back, his head held low. He gathered the knives and was motioned to follow Miss Reptor. Sandwiched in by Mr Ford, they all trudged off to the Headmaster's Office. I was so overjoyed; I fell to my knees. Chris and Ciaran both crouched beside me and we stayed in a three-way hug until Simon spoke. `Er...are you guys okay?' We stood up with a jump. I had forgotten all about our rescuers. I pulled Simon to me and gave him a small kiss on the cheek. Chris did the same, and Ciaran gave him a huge bear hug -- squeezing the air from his lungs. `Ewww...' was the response that we got. I really didn't care about that now. The point was that we weren't going to be at the mercy of those gangsters for any longer. After thanking all of them properly for everything they had done, especially to Simon for not hanging up on me, we all crossed the school threshold for our first day of a new year. ------------------------------------------------------------- It was the first year of our GCSE exams. These horrible gifts from Satan were the first public exams that we were plagued with in the UK. We were to take them next year, and we were all terrified at the prospect. `This will determine your future...' All the teachers delighted in informing us. As well as these lessons, I would be doing my degree, which was going to take up a lot of my time. It was that time that I usually spent cuddling up to my cute boyfriend. This year was gonna bring a lot of changes -- maybe some of them were not going to be for the better. Mathematics, English Language, English Literature, Religious Studies, Double Science, French, Economics, Latin, Classical Civilisation and Literature, IT, Music. These would be the subjects that would come between Chris and I for the next two years. After that there were A Level examinations. Now, the relationship had become difficult. I looked over at Chris, who was smiling and laughing -- talking to Simon and Oliver. We had come up to our tutor room, and since no one else had arrived as yet, we broke into conversation with each other. Any moment now I knew that Miss Reptor would arrive and we would have to go through the whole story with her. After that, there would be the Headmaster. It seemed as though we were being punished for their actions. -------------------------------------------------------- The tears rolled down Simon's cheeks as Lee slammed him against the back of the bleachers. He tried to scream out, but couldn't do anything. Ice had suddenly frozen his windpipe, and he found it hard to breathe. Darkness had long since fallen on the rugby pitch and Simon's eyes could just make out Lee and his other assailant. Pinning Simon's hands to the bleacher, he pulled out the knife once again. This time his scream echoed around the whole school -- but there was no one to hear. `Shut the fuck up you queer faggot!' Lee hissed through clenched teeth. `You think that you get away with helping your fucking queer boyfriends. I think it's disgusting...' Simon was panicking, what could he do? `...well we'll just do to you, what you love to do with other boys.' Lee flashed an evil smile, and reached down to his jeans. The sound of the zip coming down was, to Simon, like the sky being torn in two. `NO, please I'll do whatever you want, but not that, please!' Lee had released Simon into the care of the other onlooker. He bore the same grin as Lee, and induced more fear along with it. Soon Lee had undone his jeans, and had removed Simon's as well. At this point, Simon could only hope for a miracle. If there was a god in heaven, anyone that could help him, he desperately needed it. `Ahhh!' Lee had spun him around and shoved him hard against the bleacher -- his head crashed into the white wood, shuddering his whole body. Whilst Lee's friend held him fast, Lee shoved forward and entered him. Simon was not gay; he had always been one of the straightest guys I knew. However, this didn't stop psychopaths like Lee from thinking. The pain was intense for Simon, it was his first time, and he was to lose his virginity to an evil and twisted animal. This is an experience that is sacred to the temple of the body; the experience would never again be repeated. ------------------------------------------------------ `Hey Simon, What's up.' I ran up to him as we came into school. `Nuttin,' was all he could come up with. I persisted, but he pushed me away. `Look, just leave it, Jay!' I was more than a little surprised to see him shrug me off and speed up his pace, heading for the other side of the school building. I thought he was just having a bad day so I joined Chris and Ciaran on the patio. Simon seemed to give us the cold-shoulder in History and English, preferring to sit away from the rest of the class, at the lone desk in the corner. His eyes were vacant, and he appeared to be thinking deeply, almost wrestling himself. I was beginning to get worried. As the buzzer rang for the end of second period I cornered Simon in the English class and waited for everyone to leave. The teacher looked at me and seemed to know what was going on; she left, closing the door behind her. `Right! Now you tell me what's up?' Simon was not saying anything. His face remained blank and his lips didn't move. `Simon, you've got to tell me. I'm your friend, and I know something's wrong.' Simon broke down. He leant against the back of the wall and slid down it to the floor. The story came out, inch by inch. Lee had shadowed him as he walked home from school. When he came near his house they pounced and dragged him back to the school. By this time night had fallen and under the cover of darkness they had taken him out to the rugby pitch and... He couldn't finish the sentence. It was impossible not to know what he meant though. The day proceeded as normal, as normal as you can expect. That is to say except for that fateful time, when one-o-clock came around. We sidled out the patio and had just taken up residence when the crowd on the playground started to jeer at something. I looked around and noticed that Simon, who as behind me a minute ago, was no longer there. Looking around we saw that Simon was walking out onto the Rugby pitch. This was incredibly odd, since Simon hated outdoor sports of any kind. I can still remember the calming notion that came over the whole playground as he stopped dead in the centre and looked straight into my eyes. I knew that something was wrong and started running. Chris and Ciaran were behind me as we reached the pitch, but the gun had already been raised. `Jay, I'm sorry.' We were no more than ten metres away from him when the shot rang out. Chris immediately fell to his knees; Ciaran and I kept running. I caught Simon as he hit the floor, his head caved in from the impact of the bullet. The cold gun fell from his outstretched hand, and rolled onto into the mud beside us. I screamed. I screamed as he had the night before; the night that I hadn't known about. Why hadn't I been quicker? If only... Kneeling in the mud, I clasped Simon to me and began to rock back and forth. I didn't know what I was doing. Ciaran was just standing, not looking at anything -- his eyes were jammed shut. Chris was lying face down on the floor; his sobs were beginning to echo around us. I had a distant memory of Miss Reptor and the rest of the school running to us from the playground, but it was very distant -- I had passed out, with Simon still in my arms. He was dead; there was nothing I could do. --------------------------------------- Sorry about the harsh ending, but that's how it happened.
