She was sympathetic for him, and took him in as her son. They bought him new clothes, and, to Ryan's surprise and excitment, she also bought a large bed, similar to Brent's old one, for the two of them to share. Most of Ryan's time was split between Brent and a smokey diner where he worked to help his mother. Though all of Brent and Ryan's time was not devoted to each other their love grew immensly. Brent soon got lonely and bored during Ryan's work hours, so he to took up work in an office building's muggy mailroom. Their salaries were not much, but they helped none the less. Over a brief time, Ryan and Brent had become not only lovers, but the best of friends. They could spend their time at a local bar with fake ID's having drinks and making uproars and laughter, yet just as easily they could lay together for hours in a warm bed caressing each other's bodies, taking in the incredible warmth of the love that passed between them. Christmas day slipped by as quietly as the falling snow for the little family. After spending the morning with Ryan's mother they went out together. A small walk at a local park, with light snow falling from the heavens, was a beautiful setting for Ryan to slip a comitment ring onto Brent's finger, and oddly enough Brent had one to go onto Ryan's lonely finger as well. The two of them thought alike, and they were both eager to show their love for each other. Ryan and Brent had both spent six months saving their money from work, that should have gone towards house bills, to purchase the rings. They were not the most beautiful rings, but the love and passion they represented was enough. The rings were of the emotional calibre of a wedding ring, or an engagment ring. They had comitted themselves to one another, forever. They stood in the snow, warmed by their woolen peacoats and each other as they kissed on the banks of a murky ice-covered pond, where the reflection of a large lit oak tree shone against the snow. When they embraced nothing else mattered. All was right in the world when Brent was in Ryan's arms, and terrible memories of a gloomy past appeared less and less frequently in his mind. Memories of broken whiskey bottles and screaming parents were leaving him, and he was not disappointed to see them go. For the next year things continued normally for Ryan and Brent. They continued devoting their time to each other, their jobs, and Ryan's mother. They each turned eighteen and Ryan managed to graduate with 3.40 GPA while Brent recieved a 3.330. They looked into colleges during their senior year, and had both selected a fair sized university about forty minutes from their small home. They attended the university in the fall living in and apartment off campus. Brent was majoring in computer sciences and Ryan in marine biology. The fall turned to winter, and they lived off of one another's love. They would often visit Ryan's mother, but soon that would not be an option... ********************************************************************** After an amazing night of drinking and dancing, Ryan and Brent had had enough of the bar, and headed to their car to try and work off some of the alcohol they had consumed. Before long their bodies were half naked, entwined and sewn, physically in body and spiritually in love. Steam choked the windows of the car, and they were aglow with oneanother's love and radiance. Ryan whispered heavenly, sweet words of love into Brent's ear, and Brent returned them, holding Ryan ever-closer, wishing they could somehow be closer. Their sweat-covered muscle toned bodies began sliding over one oneanother, and they became further enveloped in one another, too deeply smothered in love to hear the sound of the squeaky bar door, and the footsteps of several heavy men. As Ryan's tongueransslowlyin and out of Bren't mouth, his hand rubbed Brent's muscle toned back. He couldn't imagine a safer, more beautiful place to be at that moment, than in the arms of Brent, whom hefelt no amount of timewith would satisfy his need and his love for him. The hair on his neck prickled up, and after asilent moment where Ryan had lifted his head and tried to see through the windows,a baseball bat came screaming into the rear window. A barrage of glass rained down on them, as two huge men pulled them out of the car and threw them onto the ground. Brent nor Ryan knew how the long they endured beating, for they both slipped out of conciousness and slipped away, until their minds were dark as the night air. There was little to say about the life of Ryan after that fateful night. His love's head was beaten in, and he failed to awake from a deep coma, even after days of treatment. Ryan never left his bedside in that provacative time of sorrow. The last night that warm breath and blood filled Brent's body, Ryan preyed to a God he did not know to help his lover, and to restore him to health. When Brent's heart finally beat it's last, a piece of Ryan left the world as well. Nothing remained in his empty heart nor soul. He couldn't force himself to move on. Shortly after that night, Ryan's own night came, but it affected him not, for he was already dead and decaying on the inside. Rain fell lightly on the shutters of a small motel, where he scribbled a final tesimony of his love to a fading memory of angelic beautyon a cheap piece of motel stationary: Brent Deep in my soul Love so strong It takes control Now we both know The secrets bared The feelings show Driven far apart I'll make a wish On a shooting star There will come a day Somehwere far away In your arms I'll stay My only love. Even though you're gone Love will still live on The feeling is so strong My only love. I want to thank all my readers, who kept the emails coming and kept encouraging me to continue, when I wanted to give up. I hope you enjoyed this story of true love, and shocking truth. ~Jim
