He didn't get a response. Great I'm home alone again he thought to himself until Alex walked into the kitchen with his headphones at full blast...like always. "Oh, welcome home Jacob" Alex said paying little attention to Jacob. He was way too into his music. He then grabbed his soda from the refrigerator and walked back off to what Jacob assumed was to the stairs so he could get to his room. Alex may be home but I may as well be home alone Jacob thought. He wasn't really close to his brother. It wasn't that they didn't get along, they just had different hobbies and friends, plus there was a two year age difference. Jacob was 14 and a freshman in high school, while Alex was 12 and a 7th grader in Middle school. As a result there wasn't really much for the two to relate to so they just didn't do much together. Jacob then crossed through the huge empty house and walked back into his room closing the door behind him. He lay down on his bed and began to think about random stuff, in a way it was his form of meditation. Jacob came from parents who were both pretty affluent. The house they lived in was pretty big, well furnished with the latest and nicest in everything, and in a really good neighborhood. Even his room had a large plasma TV in it and Xbox 360, so money was never an issue for his family. What was an issue though was family time. His mom was a corporate executive at a large bank, while his dad was a high level manager at a computer company and managed European sales. Since they had gotten these positions they were always gone. They would be gone for up to weeks at a time and even when they were home they rarely could talk since they would be on the phone too much. In fact Jacob couldn't remember the last time he spoke to his parents; A week ago maybe? He wasn't sure, but it didn't bother him either since his family wasn't tight nit or anything. It actually was pretty much the opposite, with everyone doing their own thing and only talking to each other if they happened to cross paths. It was sad, but it was life. "Hmmm...I really wish I had someone to be close to" Jacob said out loud after a sigh. He kept looking up at the ceiling thinking about this. Jacob had a few good friends, but he kept to himself a lot. Plus he was a nerd so he wasn't really popular with the other kids at school; in fact he got bullied for being rich and a nerd. I can't help being rich, those idiots Jacob thought to himself. Although...being a nerd is maybe more of a choice on my part, but I'm not that good at sports, and none of them will hang out with me so what else am I supposed to do all day huh!? Jacob was getting irritated with these thoughts so he decided it would be best to just move on. He got up off his bed and walked towards his desk that was directly in front of the window overlooking their backyard. Jacobs's family lived in northern New Mexico in the town of Telson. It was on a lake that was created by a dam. It wasn't giant but had a population of sixty five thousand, so it wasn't small either. Jacobs's house was right on the lake, which itself was about six miles at its widest point so it was decent size. He watched the sun as it was just above the horizon and turning the sky a pink hue and the lake a shimmering gold as the trees and grass turned a dark green, swaying softly in the breeze. It was a beautiful scene but he hated having to only see it by himself. Jacob decided to turn on his Alienware laptop and play Sky Rim. He needed to get his mind off this. Just as he was about to put his headphones on he suddenly heard his door open. Alex then strolled in and sat down on his bed. "Oh Jacob by the way I wanted to tell you something" Alex said. "What? Is it about mom and dad and how long they will be gone this time?" Jacob said. His mom and dad typically would tell one or the other to let the other one know how long they would be gone. Beyond that he couldn't figure a reason for his brother to be talking to him. "Well no that wasn't what I was going to say, but now that you mention it they wanted me to say they would be gone until Friday." "Oh" and it was only Monday Jacob thought. "But anyway what I wanted to mention was this. Ok so you know that house two blocks down right next to the bridge?" "Yea the one the Oslons used to live in, what about it?" "Well it just sold and the new family's moving in today" "Really? That house has been on the market for like three months now, and it was pretty run down. Did they restore it or something?" Jacob was a bit curious now. Not only was the house very old, but it was really run down, even when the Oslons lived in it. "Yea, whoever the new family is, they renovated it over the summer. I saw people over there that were repainting it and bringing in new windows and stuff like that. I was riding by on my bike and I passed by as they were moving their stuff off of a moving truck." "Ok, but why does it concern me?" Jacob said. He still wasn't sure why his brother would bring this up. "Well they have two sons, and they look to be about our age." That caught Jacobs's attention. There were no other kids their age in that neighborhood. In fact most of the people there either didn't have children, or if they did the kids were in their twenties or early thirties. So if these kids were their age it would finally mean there was someone they could hang out with, without having to find a ride to the person's house. "And, the one that looks your age may be of interest to you" Alex said with a quieter voice and a slim smile. Jacob had come out to his family about being gay when he was only 12, and his whole family was ok with it, including Alex. He wasn't out to the general public but his friends knew. Plus he wasn't stereotypical so most people couldn't figure it out anyway. So he didn't worry often about being outed and since his family and friends already knew, the idea of rejection wasn't on his mind much. "Alex, you know he's probably straight. I don't even think I should waste my time" Jacob looked back to his computer monitor. He easily gave up on that kind of stuff. He didn't know anyone else who was gay, it wasn't that his community was homophobic by any means but people just didn't come out while still in high school. It was social suicide, regardless where you lived. "Suit yourself; I'm just saying he wasn't bad looking. Well I'm off to get a new album. Later bro" Alex then got up and walked out the room, leaving the door open. Why can't he just shut it every now and then Jacob thought as he got up to shut his door again. He had just reached for his door and was about to push it close when his phone beeped alerting him he got a text message. He took out his Droid phone and looked at the text. It was from Alex. Why in the hell would Alex send me a text message Jacob thought in a slight bit of confusion and curiosity. He opened the text and let it load. "Whoa..." were the words that escaped Jacobs's mouth. Apparently Alex had snapped a picture of what he assumed was the new family while he was on his bike ride. It showed two boys carrying some boxes across a yard to the front door of the house. The one on the right side of the screen looked to be about Alex's age. He had curly blonde hair, lightly tanned skin, and a white button down long sleeved shirt with a dark blue pair of jeans and green Nikes. Granted this kid was cute but it was the one on the left side of the screen that Jacob was interested in. He looked like he was Jacobs's age, with the same curly blonde hair and lightly tanned skin. He couldn't make out any other real details since the picture was taken from afar but what he could see, he really liked. He already felt the hormones start up and his mouth began to salivate. The older boy was wearing a similar button down but it was a green color, not quite dark but it wasn't a pastel either. His jeans looked dark blue with some areas of white, what Jacob assumed was a part of the design and he had on some black Nike Airs. Jacob was good with brands and could easily make out what the shoes were. He didn't know about the jeans or shirt but he already began to think how much he would rather see this kid without the jeans or shirt, or anything on for that matter. Damn, well...maybe a bike ride by wouldn't be a bad idea Jacob thought. He walked out of his room, down the hall, down the stairs and headed toward the kitchen so he could get to the garage. He saw Alex in the Kitchen grabbing some chips, and he had just turned around to start heading to the stairs when he saw Jacob. He put on a mischievous grin. "So you liked the pic eh?" Alex said full well knowing what Jacob was probably about to do. "Well you were right, he was cute" that was a total understatement. This boy was hot, and he hadn't even seen him up-close. He must look like a god Jacob thought. "I told you. So, you heading to go and see this prince ehh?" Alex barely could get out the ehh before he went into a fit of giggles. "I'm going on a bike ride. That's it" Jacob was mildly irritated but he didn't deny Alex's accusation completely, since it was completely true. "Whatever bro, enjoy the eye candy" Alex said in another burst of giggles as he headed out of the kitchen back to his room. Whatever he probably likes that younger boy anyway, besides he was the one who was a creeper and took a picture of them so why is he getting on to me Jacob thought to himself. Alex wasn't gay or bi or straight even. He had said he was pansexual meaning gender wasn't as much of a factor; it was more of the person. It was probably nice since it really gave him a lot of options, a lot more than Jacob had. The talk about their sexualities had been one of the few really deep brotherly conversations they had ever had. Alex was only 11 when he had told Jacob and the rest of his family as well. Again no one really minded so it was just another thing, or at least that's how Jacob felt, though he knew in other family's it could easily be a much bigger deal, and one that causes a lot of problems. His whole family was fairly liberal and though they were religious they were far more open minded so he was thankful that he didn't have to deal with a family that would shun him for life or anything, but he still thought they could improve in certain areas. Jacob opened up the door from his kitchen and walked out into his garage. It was a three car garage. The Aston Martin V-12 vantage, being his dad's, was gone as well as his mom's BMW 7 series, leaving the Land Rover. He never quite understood why his parents ever bought it since they didn't use it all that often, and it always broke down. But the cars didn't matter to him; it was what was on the bike rack on the far right corner that mattered to him. It was his and his brother's bike. They both had Cervelos, for those not bike savvy, very high end bikes. His was the RS and it was his pride and joy because not only was it really nice but it was really fast as well. Jacob had gotten it as a birthday present when he was 13 and had loved it ever since. He took it down off the rack, pulled on his helmet, grabbed his shield styled sunglasses and rode out. He took a left and began to head down the street towards the house that the new family had just moved into. The neighborhood was basically on a giant peninsula that was really wide and jutted into the lake. It was about half a mile wide and two miles long. At one end it connected to the downtown district of the Telson and on the other it connected to the bridge which went across the lake and connected to a highway system. Just before the bridge there was a park and what was formally the Oslson's house. As he approached the house he sped up a bit since he was about to have to go at a slight uphill angle. The peninsula had a slight upwards grade as you got towards the bridge end. Finally as he was about a few hundred feet away from the former Oslson household and he could see the moving truck as he was approaching. He wondered what he should do. Maybe I'll just stop at the park for a bit, drink a bit of water and then head home. Yea...then no one will be suspicious and I can get a view of this boy Jacob thought to himself. He was riding on the side of the street opposite of the property so it would look like he was going to the park. He pulled into the park, which really was a decent size. It had a beach since it was at the point where the peninsula narrowed and a sort of forestry area but it wasn't really dense. It also had a soccer field in the middle of this forestry area, along with a basketball court towards the front of the park where Jacob was pulling in. Besides that it had a bathroom facility and some pavilions for picnics and gatherings. Jacob pulled into the basketball court and stopped his bike on the end closest to the street. He took out his water bottle and took a chug. He looked across and no one was out front. "Dam it, I must've missed them" Jacob said aloud in disappointment of missing this boy. He continued to wait trying to make it look like he was just checking his texts on his phone or something, but still nothing. Finally after eight minutes he was just getting on his bike and was about to start peddling when he saw the front door open. Then out came the wonder boy. He couldn't make out any details since he was still from afar but he was still wearing the same things, and the picture didn't lie. He was really cute, even from the distance. Jacob started peddling back onto the sidewalk and was peddling across the street so he could get onto the opposite sidewalk. This way he would have to make less turns crossing traffic....of course this is total bullshit and he was doing it so he could get a better view of this boy. He got onto the opposite sidewalk and was turning left when he was able to get a better view of this boy. Details were still sketchy but he was still wearing the same things from the picture, he had a semi-ovular shaped face, perfectly shaped and spaced eyes and the blonde curls literally glowed in the fading sunlight. This boy was gorgeous, and Jacob felt it was a godsend to have this person move here, gay or straight he was some nice eye candy Jacob thought. Then it happened. Just as he was starting to peddle down the street he saw this wonder boy look in his direction. Though the other boy didn't know it, since Jacob was wearing sunglasses, they locked eyes for what felt like forever, but were really only a few seconds in reality. Then this person waved to Jacob and gave a smile that, in Jacobs mind, was one he thought an angel would be jealous of. He had no clue what to do and felt the hormones rage, his mouth salivate and other parts become mildly uncomfortable. He amazed himself and managed to bring his right hand up in a small waving action. He had no idea how he managed to since he was sure his body would have normally just locked up, but it didn't and he actually waved back. Jacob gunned it and sped off as fast as he could. "Curious, I wonder who he was" Corey Lee said aloud, but quietly enough so it was still to himself. He watched the boy peddle off down the street on his bike. Well whoever he is, he's got a nice bike... and ass Corey thought to himself. He didn't see much else on the kid but he could see he had a dirty blonde colored hair, was somewhat pale, a more oval face, and was really cute. Corey had just moved there, only a week before school began, since it was still the summertime here in America. He and his family had just moved from Australia since the company his parents owned had expanded its business into America. His mom and dad both owned a company that designed parts for suspension systems in cars and they wanted to make sure the newly developing American sector was going to do well. So they left the Australian part of the firm in charge of some trustworthy family members, and moved here to America with Corey, and his younger twelve year old brother Martin. His family was pretty affluent and it was really tight nit. Despite his parents having to spend a lot of time at the company, they always made time to spend with him and Martin. They would do just about whatever it took in order to get time with their kids, even if it meant only a few hours and then they would have to jump right back on a plane. They would always take them on amazing vacations, and since they always had lived near the water they did a lot involving sailing. He was really grateful to be so close to his whole family, even though his parents were busy. His mom and dad were also really open minded. Though Corey still wasn't out to most of his friends or the public for that matter, he had told his mom and dad when he was 11 that he was gay. He later explained it to martin, who had also come out at 11, but he was bi. Yet his parents had told them both that as long as they were happy, their sexuality wasn't anything negative and they would always support them no matter what. He really loved his parents for that. He turned around to look at his new house. His old house was more modern, but he liked the look of his new house. It was more Victorian styled, and it was really big. It was actually even a bit bigger than his old house. It even looked better now that it had been renovated. He had gotten to see it earlier this summer when his parents first bought it, and it looked horrible, but now that it was renovated it was amazing. It literally looked like a mansion from France. Plus it was lakefront property, which gave him lots of swimming and sailing opportunities. It even had a park right across with a soccer field and basketball court. Granted he did miss his friends back in Australia but he felt he would really like it here. Plus his old life in Australia was starting to really head down hill so he was grateful he moved when he did. He wasn't sure he would have been able to stay much longer with the rate things were going at. "Ay, Corey, stop being lazy and get over and help me move this box" Martin yelled across the lawn at his brother. "Fine, fine, just hold yourself together till I get there" Corey walked over and got into the moving truck with Martin to grab the other end of the box. "My god, what are my parents moving, lead weights" Corey said to himself as he picked up the box. When he and his brother finally got to the front porch with it they set down the box and sat down on the deck chairs for a second. "So what kept ya, I was waiting forever for you to help me with that box" Martin said complaining to his brother, but it was in a playful way. "Ehh, nothing" "Bullshit, what did ya see?" Martin said with a sly smile "Well I saw a kid ride by on a bike, he was cute to." "Was it that younger kid from earlier? Did you at least say hi or get his name for me?" Martin said sounding a bit anxious for an answer. Corey thought back a bit and remembered seeing a kid earlier who looked fairly similar to this kid who just rode by now. In fact come to think of it they almost looked like they may have been brothers. Plus they were both riding those Cervelos. "Well no I didn't, sorry Martin, but he did look pretty similar, and was riding the same type of bike. Come to think of it they may have been brothers or something, except this one was a bit older, looked to be about my age." "Ahhh...well if they are brothers that means one for you and one for me watcha say?" Martin said with a mischievous grin and some giggles at the end. "Ha Ha very funny. Well anyway you're jumping to conclusions again. We have no clue what sexuality's they are, and more than likely their straight." "Well maybe this boy who just passed by is straight, but I'm betting the one from earlier's gay, or at least bi." "And what makes you think that Martin?" "Well remember when he had stopped in the park?" "Sort of why?" "When we were walking back across the yard carrying the boxes I saw a flash from the corner of my eye that I coulda sworn was from his phone. I think he was taking a picture of us. Not that I mind, seeing he was pretty cute, but still how many boys take pictures of other boys who are complete strangers?" "Maybe he was getting a picture of the house?" "Then why did he sit in the park for four minutes watching us and when he finally did "get a picture of the house" did he take it right when we were passing by? He coulda taken it any time when we weren't passing and been right on his way." "Good point, well who knows, why don't you go and get to know this boy?" "Cause I don't know his name, who he is, hell I don't even know where he lives." Martin looked down a bit disappointed that he didn't take the chance to reach out to this boy. "Hey, don't worry, I'm sure that kid will pass by again, he looked like he rode pretty often, especially with a bike like that, I'm sure you'll see him pass by again." Corey said trying to cheer Martin up. Well in part he was saying it to cheer Martin up. The other part of the equation was that if this kid was actually the younger brother of the older kid it may mean he would have an excuse to try and get to know this older boy. "Yea, I guess you're right, well whatever let's hurry it up and get this box in. Mom just made some cookies and lemonade" Martin said suddenly regaining his energy. Mom did make the best dam cookies and lemonade out of anyone on earth. Corey looked back outside for a second and began to ponder on who this boy was and the possibilities of a new friendship. Maybe I can give it another shot if the environments right? Jacob sped into the garage and braked with a loud screech. He looked back making sure no one was following him and then proceeded to swiftly put up his bike and shut the garage. He walked inside, panting and out of breath after having gone as fast as he had ever. He was amazed he didn't pass out from the lack of breath. As he walked into the kitchen he grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge and headed to the den so he could at least relax a bit. Jacob was just about to turn the corner to the den and just about ran into Alex who was walking out right at that moment. With a few quick maneuvers he managed to avoid a collision. "Sheesh Jacob be more careful. You almost killed me there" Alex said in annoyance. "Sorry Alex, I didn't know you were in there. I was just going in to relax a bit." "Yea ok. Hey why are you panting and your face is red; you didn't already get it on with the boy down the street did you?" Alex said laughing hysterically at the end of his own joke. "God Alex you have such a perverted mind. Taking pictures of strangers, making weird jokes; you worry me sometimes. Anyway, no, I'm just tired because I was peddling home and I got a bit winded." Jacob was saying hoping Alex wouldn't keep asking. He wouldn't be able to admit to Alex that he had been peddling at light speed because he was embarrassed that he had been caught looking at the wonder boy. "That's odd? Don't you ride pretty often? So why are you winded all of a sudden?" "Well that's because.....well....ehh.....um." "Ehh and um aren't very descriptive." "Well I was peddling kinda fast is all" Jacob said with a hint of embarrassment in his voice, and he was blushing slightly. "Ahhh...did something happen? You've got to tell me if something happened" Alex said grabbing Jacob by the shoulders. Jacob was about 5'7 so Alex standing at a 5'4 height had to reach up some, but he was catching up in height. "Ok, ok, well the kid waved at me, but that's it I swear." "Really that's all? I was expecting something a bit more grand, considering how winded you are from peddling home" Alex again went into a hysterical laughter as the thought of his older brother being embarrassed from a slight wave crossed his mind. Jacob was thoroughly embarrassed and didn't really want to keep talking about this. He actually wanted to ask Alex something instead. "Fine, whatever it doesn't matter, but your attracted to the younger one aren't you?" "Well you have me, he is cute I'll admit, and I wouldn't mind being his friend." "Just friends?" "Well at first, after that who knows?" "12 year olds dating, really what happened to childhood?" "Oh come on, I'm old enough to date now." Alex was becoming irritated by his older brother. "Yea yea well how about I go and relax a bit in the TV room and you go and do whatever it is you need to do" Jacob said as he walked off towards the den "Ehh...Fine" Alex said annoyed. Jacob sat down and flipped on the Television and tuned it into some show about train systems in Europe. Normally he would have been completely engrossed in it but this particular evening he couldn't quite get himself to watch it. He was still way too distracted by what had happened only a few minutes ago. He replayed the scene and the look on that boys face over and over in his head. God if this boy is gay I'll promise to be thankful forever Jacob thought. He really was amazed a boy that good looking even existed. He thought that anyone close to being a supermodel in looks was always edited by computers in the photographs, but this kid had been standing right there in front of him. Yet it wasn't just the looks of this kid but something else that made him feel this attraction. He couldn't quite pin it down as to what it was, but something about the look he saw. He knew it sounded a bit weird but he legitimately thought that there was something more to that kid, and he was going to figure it out. He sat around for another hour and switched off the television. Jacob looked over at the clock and saw that it was about 11 and he decided that he needed some rest. He got up off the couch and headed to his room. His mind continued to swirl around with thoughts of what if and maybe this and that. Jacob had no idea about anything and was making guesses, but still he had hope. He continued to toss and turn a bit wondering who this wonder boy was, and better yet was he anyone he should even use his time and energy on to become something with? He would be happy if he could even just be friends, seeing that he had only a few, but if he could possibly be more with this kid then it really would be amazing. Jacob let these thoughts run through his head until he finally was tired and dozed off into the world of dreams. End of Part one Authors Note: So let me know what you think about it. Suggestions? I will continue this story and we will watch as Jacob, Alex, Martin, and Corey all develop as a person, go through obstacles, share joy, and grow up a bit together. I'm not really sure how long this will be but I know more parts are on the way. And please excuse any grammatical mistakes. I did the editing myself, and I am terrible at grammar.
