In Time Telson West Middle, Monday afternoon, and Alex had just gotten out of class. The birthday party had been amazing that weekend and he even noticed how much closer Wyatt and Alan seemed to be in the halls and elsewhere. He even caught Wyatt drawing a picture of Alan in Science class. It made him feel just a bit more normal, and he personally found it adorable. Yet he also noticed something else that disturbed him slightly. Caleb seemed to almost be avoiding him. His responses to any of the "hellos" that Alex said were one worded responses. He didn't make eye contact with him, and seemed to suddenly be in a hurry around him. Alex was finally getting sick of it and decided he was going to figure out what was up with Caleb. Just as he shut his locker so he could go and find Caleb, there stood Caleb directly next to his locker. "Hey Alex," Caleb said cheerfully. "Dude what's up?" Alex said in an annoyed tone "What'd you mean?" "You've been ignoring me all day and blew off coming to my party!" Alex said a bit more forcefully. Caleb looked away, his face now a bit more downcast. "I had family issues, and I've been dealing with a few things lately..." Caleb said, almost to himself, his own statement trailing off at the end. Yet almost instantly he regained his composure and his face became bright again. "Anyway dude, I'm really sorry about doing that. I actually wanted to know if you could come over this afternoon. I never got the chance to give you your birthday present," Caleb said excitedly, his brown eyes glimmering a bit. Alex felt the happiness radiating from Caleb, and it made him feel happy as well. He quickly lost his annoyance with Caleb as excitement filled his veins while he began to wonder what the present was. Then out of the corner of his eye, Alex noticed Martin approach from the side of the hallway. "Hey Alex," Martin said with a smile. "Hey Martin," Alex replied back. "So wanna come over to my place?" Martin asked, expecting an obvious yes. "Well...." Yet Caleb started to speak before Alex could begin his sentence. "Actually Martin, Alex was already going to head over to my place. I hadn't had the chance to give him his birthday present yet since I missed your party this weekend," Caleb said flatly. Martin's face suddenly changed from happy to serious and cautious. Despite the hallway buzzing with life and noise, a moment of silence ensued. An awkward quiet grew between the two opposing forces. Martin read Caleb's face, just as Caleb read his. "Oh...well how about I come along then so I can bring Alex back to my house afterwards?" Martin asked, thinking he had found a way around Caleb, but Caleb saw this coming and was prepared. "Sorry Martin, but my parents aren't home and Alex is the only one they let come over when I'm home alone," Caleb said with little emotion. This statement struck Alex as odd. He was well aware of this rule himself, but he was also equally aware of how often Caleb broke it. He couldn't understand why he wasn't willing to just let Martin come over. "Oh...ok...well I'll talk to you later Alex..." Martin said as he started to walk away. Yet he locked eyes with Alex for a split second. It was a moment where it felt as if everything had frozen. Alex looked into Martin's eyes and read a range of emotions. Anger, hurt, jealousy... and yet it didn't make sense to Alex. Caleb was just another friend who was a boy. He wasn't anything more than that, maybe good friends, but nothing close to what he shared with Martin. What could be making Martin that way? Alex thought as Martin walked off. "Come on dude, we have to catch the bus," Caleb said happily as he grabbed Alex's hand and rushed off with him in the other direction towards the bus stop. Alex again momentarily felt himself grow happy simply from the joy and enthusiasm that Caleb radiated. Yet the thought of Martin only allowed him to experience this happiness partially. He turned around and managed to grab a glimpse of Martin turned around watching him. He saw that same look in his eyes, as if he had seen it before. It disturbed Alex, and worst of all, he had no clue as to what was causing it or why. Then as several students passed by, Martin had already turned around and was walking away. What's up with Martin...? Jacob was sitting in the kitchen making himself and Corey a snack since they had finished their homework early. Alex had gone over to Caleb's house, and Corey had come over since he said he had wanted to spend more time with Jacob. Jacob finished with the last sandwich and walked over to the couch. He sat down next to Corey who immediately leaned in to him and wrapped his arm around his shoulders. Corey closed his eyes as he held on to Jacob, who was a bit unsure why Corey was doing this but enjoyed the comfort it provided him. He loved the warmth from the contact and the feeling of just being with another human being whom he loved and cared for. "Jacob...I kind of wanted to talk about something serious..." Corey said quietly. "Ok...so what's up?" Jacob asked as he looked at Corey. He could already tell by the expression on his face, and the way his eyes portrayed his feelings, that it was indeed something serious. "Jacob...after this weekend I've realized something. Our relationship is something that is special to me. I think we are a great couple...and honestly....I've been thinking about what the principal said in the office that day. I think I agree with him Jacob," Corey said, looking away as he let it sink in. Jacob tried to remember what the principal had said. That whole day had been a blur to him, but then it hit him, and the idea panicked him. "Wait...you mean...come out?" Jacob asked, his voice panic stricken and anxious. "I think it's for the best...for us," Corey said calmly. "Wait...you can't be serious Corey....why would we come out?!?" Jacob said. He had moved from the couch and was now standing up, in full panic mode. "I am serious Jacob," Corey said with a hint of annoyance in his voice. "I don't want to keep being a closet case, Jacob...IT SUCKS having to avoid the question of who I'm dating. Do you know how many of my friends ask me what girl I'm eyeing? Do you know how badly I want to say I'm in an amazing relationship with you? Jacob, not many other boys like us even get the chance's we've had and taken. I'm proud that I have you as my boyfriend, and I want to be able to show it," Corey said in a begging, but forceful tone. He was now standing up on the opposite end of the couch, and was facing directly at Jacob. "COREY IT WILL BE LIVING HELL FOR US....Why does it matter so much dude?!" Jacob exclaimed, his voice exasperated. "BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT COUPLES DO!!" Corey replied, now in a raised voice, not yelling, but close to it. "YEA THAT'S WHAT NORMAL COUPLES DO COREY, BUT WE'RE NOT LIKE OTHER COUPLES!!" Jacob said, his voice also nearly a shout. "So you're saying we're not normal?!?" Corey said in disbelief. "NO...I mean...Corey we're gay..." "And because we're gay that means we're suddenly weird Jacob?! So you think this whole relationship is abnormal?!" "NO...damn it...Corey, our relationship is normal, but it's not like others and I....I don't want what happened to happen again," Jacob said in a downtrodden tone. "Jacob, what happened was a result of us not being out. No one can black mail us ever again because we will already be out. And besides that Jacob...I just want to be like other couples..." "What do you mean be like other couples?" "I mean like hold hands in the hall, pass notes to each other, give a light kiss before we say goodbye to each other, and go to dances together...stuff like that" Jacob's face was overcome with a look of complete shock and fear, his mouth slightly open and his eyes wide, as he imagined the worst case scenario if he ever even tried to do what Corey described in public. "Corey...there's no way we could do that dude. WE WOULD BE IN A LIVING HELL...I mean Corey, I just don't know...Why does it matter so much to you that we show off?" Suddenly Corey's eyes widened as anger and annoyance flashed across his face. "Why does it matter? WHY DOES IT MATTER?!!" Corey yelled. Jacob backed away a little, frightened at Corey's reaction. "DAMN IT JACOB, BECAUSE I LOVE YOU THAT'S WHY IT MATTERS!! Don't you know how much I've put into building this relationship with you? Do you know how much time, money, and emotion I've put into this? Jacob I love you to no end, I've even given up my virginity to you Jacob and I can't ever get that back. I gave you me...Jacob IT SUCKS NOT BEING LIKE A NORMAL COUPLE. I want us to be like every other couple, and I've put in a lot on my half, now it's your turn to put in more to this relationship. It takes two people to build and maintain a relationship, Jacob. I've given you everything, and now I just ask for our freedom as a couple. Jacob...please" Corey said finishing his short, but forceful speech. His anger had calmed, but his annoyance was still apparent in his voice. Jacob looked at the ground and let it sink in. Corey had put in a lot, and Jacob had more or less been going with whatever Corey did. He really hadn't put much into their relationship, in terms of effort. Yet in the same respect what Corey was asking for was huge. He just didn't know at the time if he could say yes straight away. "Corey...I...I just need some time to think about it...please...I promise you I will really think about it," Jacob said, his voice pleading, and his eyes betraying his true desperation. Corey's eyes sank down to the ground as he let out a solemn sigh. "I'm going to head home, I'll text you tonight" Corey said as he walked up to Jacob. He looked him in the eyes for a brief second and then reached his hand out and lightly touched his cheek. Jacob felt the touch, but it didn't give him the same shivers as before. It wasn't so much of a loving touch, as it was a one of questioning disturbance. His eyes showed his sadness and disappointment in Jacob's reaction. His fingers finally came away from Jacob's face as he turned around and walked to the front door. "I love you Jacob," Corey said as he closed the door behind him, not giving Jacob enough time to even respond. Jacob fell back onto the couch as the thoughts swirled around in his head. One half of him loved Corey to no end, and he felt like shit for hurting him. Yet his other half told him that if he came out then he may as well call it quits for a social life. Then even further he could see Corey's point making sense. Though he was certainly afraid, he did have a desire to be like other couples. He really wanted to take Corey to the October dance that was held every year. He even had a similar desire to not have to keep avoiding the question of what girl he liked. Though it wasn't that common since his social life was limited, the question was an awkward one when it came up. All this swirled in his head like a twister and ravaged him emotionally. "I wonder why I can't just skip all this drama to the happy ending," Jacob said out loud. He finally decided that he needed some relaxation and went up to his room and put his speakers on. The first song to come on was "Adelitas Way-Closer to you". He felt the emotions he had been trying to avoid build back up inside of him yet again. He began to wonder if he truly was willing to sacrifice his pride for the love of Corey...the answer was yes, but he felt himself hesitate. Why... It had been a few hours since school ended, and Alex was having a blast with Caleb. They had started off with a game of basketball, which ended in a tie, and then moved to videogames where Alex had the upper hand. Finally they sped around the neighborhood on Caleb's prized go-kart. The wind was rushing across Alex's face as the afternoon air cooled with the approaching evening. The block whizzed by as the wheels kicked up rocks and crunched against the asphalt. Caleb's house was just on the horizon of the road way and Caleb looked over at Alex with a sly grin. "Wanna book it for the home stretch?" Caleb shouted over the noise of the engine. "YEA!" Alex shouted back. He felt himself fly back against the seat as the engine's whine became louder. The go-kart flew down the street as the two boys screamed aloud in joy. Finally Caleb hit the brakes as the go-kart turned into the driveway and up into the garage. They were both panting from the adrenaline that had been rushing through their veins from the ride. "Dude...that...was....AWESOME!!" Alex shouted as he looked over at Caleb. "You should see it when I'm going downhill...this thing is insane," Caleb said patting the steering wheel. "So...wanna head inside now?" Caleb asked as he got up from the go-kart and placed his helmet on a work bench in the garage. "Sure," Alex replied happily as he followed Caleb inside. The two went inside and sat down across from each other on a couch in the living room. "So...as I said in school, I never got a chance to give you your gift," Caleb said with a bright smile. "Ok...and what is it?" Alex asked mischievously. "Oh...just this," Caleb said as he brought out a wrapped box. Alex unwrapped the box and inside was a t-shirt. He took it out and immediately saw it was a Hollywood Undead shirt, one of his favorite bands. "Dude this is awesome, thanks for the shirt," Alex said as he looked at the design on the front. "Turn it around," Caleb said with a sly smile. Alex turned it around and his eyes lit up as he let out a gasp. "HOLY SHIT!!" Alex said aloud, his eyes wide and his mouth open. It was signed by every band member in sharpie and even said "Happy birthday Alex" on it with the signatures of the individual members beneath. "HOW DID YOU GET THIS!?" Alex asked in disbelief. Caleb still had a sly grin on his face as he took in every bit of Alex's reaction. It made him happy to see Alex that way, and he hoped he could make him feel just as happy way more often in the future...assuming all went to plan. "Well believe it or not my cousin actually is an engineer at a major studio where they record. So I asked him a few weeks in advance, and he sent it to me last Friday. So happy late birthday dude," Caleb said as he moved forward to embrace Alex. At first Alex didn't know how to react to the hug, but then gave into it, assuming it was just a friendly hug between best friends. Caleb kept holding him there like that, and soon Alex started to get a bit uncomfortable with the length of the hug. It wasn't that he didn't like Caleb as a friend, but the hug was starting to last too long. He pulled away a bit, and Caleb seemed a bit reluctant, but finally let go. "Sorry..." Caleb said, a little embarrassed he had let it go on too long. "Don't worry about it dude, but seriously thanks for this t-shirt. I can't wait to wear it to school" Alex said with his eyes still glued to the new t-shirt. "So want to play another game of basketball?" Caleb asked. "Yea," Alex said as he put the shirt down. Just as Alex started to get up, he fell back onto the couch as he clutched his leg in pain and started rubbing it. Caleb immediately panicked and quickly was right beside Alex. "What's wrong?" Caleb asked in a worried tone. "My leg is cramping," Alex said through gritted teeth. "Here let me help," Caleb said as he moved Alex's hands and quickly placed his own on Alex's upper leg. He started rubbing the muscle and moving his hands around in a circular motion. Alex's face slowly returned to a calmed state, and then he let out a sigh of relief. "Thanks Caleb," Alex said as he started to get up a bit. "Here, dude you're really tight, let me just finish up, since you'll just probably cramp again," Caleb said as he placed his hand on Alex's chest and pushed him back down. Alex decided to let it be since the boys on the basketball team did this for each other after games. He didn't have a problem with it and let Caleb move his hands from his calves, to his thighs, and even close to his crotch. Alex even began to let out sighs of pleasure and was really enjoying Caleb's massage. Caleb may as well have been in heaven. He watched Alex's reaction with a hunger in his eyes. The moans, sighs of pleasure, the feeling of his skin were nothing short of surreal for him. He wanted so much more, and as he moved his hands up to his crotch, he so badly wanted to just reach up and feel it, like he had last time, but he didn't. He just kept going with the massage and decided that it would be better to enjoy what he was getting now rather than spoil the whole thing. His breath had become erratic and his heart was racing. He was harder than steel now and he could even feel a little wet with precum on the tip of his cock. He felt as if he could make every fantasy he had had since then come true now. He still remembered the day he had shared with Alex. It was still the center of all his fantasies and it was something that drove him over the edge every time he was with Alex like this. Yet he never shared his feelings about it. He didn't know until recently if Alex would think he was weird, so he just kept silent, but deep down he knew how badly he wanted to tell Alex what he felt, and he regretted having kept silent about it for another problem. The other problem was Martin. He figured it out from the beginning that Martin was the apple of Alex's eye. It wasn't rocket science to realize that he and Alex were together as boyfriends, especially since Martin sought after Alex so much, and it bothered him. But he knew that Alex and Martin's relationship was new, and had just begun. He knew it was vulnerable and still not perfectly settled. Caleb assumed that if he just did the right things, and impressed Alex the right way, that Alex would be his, just like in his dreams. It brought a light smile to his face as he began to think of how his plan would succeed. "Hey Caleb, I should probably head home soon, I still have a bit of homework to finish," Alex said as he started to get up. Caleb was a bit disappointed in the fact that Alex was leaving, but he knew it was getting late so he decided that it would be best if Alex went home. But before he left, he wanted to put the other part of his plan into place. "Ok, well before you go I wanted to ask something," Caleb said as he held his hands behind his back with a calm smile on his face. "Ok, what's up?" Alex asked curiously. "Well, since I really am sorry I missed your party..." Caleb started to say but was cut off by Alex's phone. Alex quickly picked up and started talking to the other person. Caleb couldn't hear the conversation that well, but was hearing responses like "yea...sure...that's great...see you soon" from Alex's end. "Who was it?" Caleb asked. "It was Martin," Alex said. "Oh...and what did he want?" Caleb asked, his tone changing to slight disgust and annoyance. "Well he just asked me if I wanted to catch a movie with him on Wednesday," Alex said nonchalantly. "Oh...." Caleb said in a tone of disappointment. "What?" Alex said in confusion. "Well...I was actually just about to ask you if you wanted to go to THP (the local's abbreviation for Telson High Park) on Wednesday since I already got us tickets," Caleb said in a disappointed tone as he pulled out the two tickets from his coat pocket. Alex's face lit up, since he did love the theme park and he really did love riding the rollercoasters there. "I wanted it to be my way of making up me not being at the party, but since you've already got something scheduled with Martin..." but before he could continue Alex stopped him. "NO, NO don't worry dude. I can talk to Martin and change the movie for a later date. Besides I saw him all weekend and I've hardly gotten to hang out with you. I'm sure he would understand, thanks dude," Alex said as he came forward for a brief hug with Caleb. "Sweet. Thanks Alex I really look forward to it. Anyway how about I get you home," Caleb said. "Sure...wait how?" "Go kart dude" Caleb said as if it should have been obvious to Alex. Alex's face lit up at the thought of racing down the streets once again. He rushed out the door and soon Caleb and Alex were zooming down the streets as they shouted their heads off in joy. Alex pulled his bike down the driveway and came to a stop. It was still Monday afternoon and he had just gotten back from Caleb's house. As soon as he did he grabbed his bike and flew to Martin's house, where he now rang the bell and anxiously waited. The door opened and Martin stood there with a light smile. "Hey Alex," Martin said, though his voice betrayed that something was wrong. "Hey Martin...dude what's up?" Alex asked in a concerned tone. "Just Corey is upset right now. He won't say why and is just up in his room. Anyway let's just go play some soccer or something. I don't want Corey's mood to bring us all down." Martin left Alex standing on the porch as he went inside to go and change. He came back out in some tight fitting athletic wear and was holding a soccer ball and basketball as well. The two went to the park and started a game of one on one basketball. Alex was better, but Martin was quickly catching up since he wanted to join the team with Alex as well. The two continued this scrimmage for a while until they found themselves exhausted and called for a break. As they sat down Martin began to speak. "So...what did Caleb want?" Martin asked curiously, but with some underlying animosity. "Well...he wanted to give me my birthday gift, and... also invite me to something on Wednesday," Alex said, a bit hesitantly. Suddenly Martin's eyes narrowed and his voice became a bit more acidic. "I thought we had already agreed to a movie on Wednesday?" "Well...he had already bought tickets to THP, and I haven't hung out with him in a while, plus he couldn't be at..." but Martin cut him off. "So you're canceling on me?" Martin said angrily. "I'm rescheduling dude," Alex said, somewhat annoyed. "Well what did he get you for your gift anyway?" Martin asked, the animosity far more apparent now. "He got me a Hollywood Undead t-shirt," Alex said, in an annoyed voice. "Just a t-shirt? Was it made of gold or something?" Martin replied in a frustrated tone. "What the hell do you mean by that?" Alex said now confused and angry at Martin's questioning. "Oh come on, it wasn't just a t-shirt was it?" Martin said, obviously exasperated. "Well it was signed and said happy birthday from the band," Alex said. "IT WAS SIGNED AND SAID HAPPY BIRTHDAY....FROM THEM!!" Martin said, now clearly angry. "SO WHAT!? WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU GETTING AT MARTIN!?" Alex said, now just as angry, but confused as well. "No one goes through that much effort to get a gift, or spend that much money, unless they like you, A LOT!" Martin said in annoyance. "Yea Caleb has been my best friend for a while?!" "OH COME ON!!! Alex you're not an idiot FIGURE IT OUT!" Martin shouted. "HE...HAS...A...CRUSH ON YOU, DIR!!" Martin yelled. "WHAT THE FUCK MARTIN!! HES JUST A FRIEND" Alex yelled back. "JUST A FRIEND....JUST A BLOODY FRIEND. Alex, stop being blind. No friend would buy you that..." "He got it FROM HIS COUSIN. He didn't buy it. It was easier for him because he had connections," Alex sated plainly. "Connections or not, getting a T-shirt like that isn't easy, and last time I checked THP tickets just for one afternoon ran at $35. THAT'S NOT CHEAP FOR A BUNCH OF 12 YEAR OLDS ALEX. HE'S SPENDING A LOT OF EFFORT AND MONEY ON GIFTS FOR YOU!!" Martin shouted back. "AND SO WHAT!? That doesn't mean he has a crush on me!" "ALEX IT'S THE BIGGEST SIGN THAT HE DOES!!" "NO CALEB DOESN'T HAVE A CRUSH ON ME. YOU'RE JUST JEALOUS!!" "YOU'RE DAMN RIGHT I'M JELOUS CAUSE HE'S TRYING TO TAKE YOU AWAY FROM ME!!!" Martin finally shouted as loud as he could. Alex's face suddenly hardened in anger and a single tear came to his eye. "So you're just trying to fucking control me huh?! I thought we went over this that I need my friends and you need yours, but if you're SO DAMN CONVINCED THEY ARE ALL TRYING TO TAKE ME AWAY FROM YOU THEN JUST FUCK OFF!!" Alex said as he turned around and ran to his bike. "ALEX...ALEX DAMN IT!!!" Martin shouted aloud as Alex sped away on his bike. He didn't chase after him this time though. He didn't want to, and he was hurt by Alex. He was angry at Alex, and quite frankly, he didn't want to talk to him right now. He looked back at the basketball court and felt the anger simmer inside of him, and like hot grease in a pan, it burned inside and made him want to explode. "DAMN IT ALEX" Martin shouted aloud as he kicked the basketball to the other end of the park. He suddenly felt tears come to his eyes as his vision began to blur. The tears started to stream down his face as he fell to his knees and began to sob. He let out loud gasps as he felt the sadness and anger overcome his body. Alex...please...come back to me It looks like trouble is ahead. So what do you think happened between Caleb and Alex so long ago? Could this be a halt to Alex and Martins relationship? Plus what about Corey and Jacob, what do you think Jacob will finally say? Do you think Corey is asking for too much, or is Jacob just not giving enough? Well these questions, and more will be answered...in later episodes. Anyway what did you think of this part? Do you have any comments, questions, or suggestions?
