We got two hotel rooms; my parents in one room and me and Kyle in the other. I was so excited. It was weird; there wasn't really much to do there, but what was doable, we were going to do. Hang out at the snowy beach, watch movies in the hotel room and drink hot chocolate, play video games that were free with the room and spend time with our best friend. I don't really know what my parents do while we're here. They don't really like the snow or cold, I'm pretty sure they just bring us here because they know we love it, which is nice of them. But, Kyle and I were going to have a freakin' blast. After we were all settled into the hotel room, it was about 1:00 and we were hungry, so my parents ordered room service for as lunch. There were few things Kyle and I wouldn't eat, but anything green was out of the question for us. We ate pizza and burgers. (How typical, right?) Me and Kyle continued talking about how awesome the weekend was going to be and how awesome it already was. When we were done, we played the free video games on the TV for what felt like a while, but was actually around three hours. They weren't very good games for a PS3, but we were okay with that since they were free, after all. But, we were then bored and it was around 6:00 and at this time of the year, it got dark early and it was beginning to do so for the day. So, Kyle and I wanted to go to the beach, which was our main attraction. We knocked on my parents' room and told them that we were gonna go to the beach to hang out for a while. They said okay and we were off. We left the hotel the beach was only about a ten minute walk away, so we were fine to walk there, even though it had to be around 20 degrees Fahrenheit. I was wearing my black hoodie with a tiny panda on the right side where a nametag would be. I don't remember why it was there, but I liked it and so did Kyle. Kyle was wearing his "My Chemical Romance" hoodie, which I loved on him. His hood was on, but mine wasn't. I didn't like the feeling of my hood on sometimes and I think the wind would have blown it off, anyway. We arrived at the beach in the amount of time we expected to get there. By that time, it was dark with the stars in sight. We stopped when we got to the entrance and saw that no one was there. "Man, this place is just as awesome as I remember." Kyle said. "It really is." I replied. "I love this place." We stood staring for a moment admiring the beauty of what to us was the quintessence of beauty. Kyle then turned to me. "Let's go." He said as he started running to the shore. Seeing Kyle run away sort of made an instinct of mine go off and start chasing after him. I hated running at all, let alone when it's cold out and the air freezes my lungs, but I had to go after my best friend. The wind from him running caused his hood to fall back and I saw his hair flow through the wind. A little before where the ocean came up on shore, Kyle sat down panting. I caught up and was nearly hyperventilating when I sat down next to him. We just sat looking at the ocean in the distance and admiring the snow around us. "Jesus, it's fuckin' cold." I said reaching into his pockets. I paused for a moment with my hands them. "Damnit." I said. "What's wrong?" Kyle asked. "My gloves aren't here." I told him. "I told you not to forget them." He said. "I didn't." I replied annoyed. "I just left them in the hotel room." I put my hands into my pockets to keep them warm. (My hands were always cold for some reason; poor circulation, I guess.) "Here." Kyle said as he took his mittens out of his pockets. "Take my mittens." "No." I told him. "I'm not gonna take your mittens because I forgot my gloves and have your hands freeze." "My hands aren't even cold." He replied. "If they were, I would have put them on already." "Okay." I said taking the mittens out of his hands that did feel warm. "Thanks, man." "Yep." He replied. I put Kyle's mittens on my hands and I was so happy. This was the perfect moment for me. I was at my favorite place in my favorite weather with my favorite person, wearing his mittens on my hands. I sort of mentally cried of happiness that he gave his mittens to me. The fact that he cared enough about me to not want my hands to freeze while his were probably getting colder and the fact that his hands were in these made them even warmer. This was close to the greatest moment of my life. I looked at Kyle who looked at me smiling. I was in nirvana. Only one thing could make it better. Without thinking, I leaned my head forward and kissed Kyle on his lips. He backed away almost instantly while wiping his lips. "What are you doing?!" He yelled. I didn't really know what I was doing. It was an accident. "I don't know." I said. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to." "Oh, my god, dude!" He shouted. "I told you I'm not a fag, I don't like you and you promised you wouldn't do something like this!" Kyle said as he threw powdery snow at my face and then started quickly walking away. I got up trying to get the melting snow off of my face. "Kyle!" I shouted as he walked away. "I'm sorry!" Kyle just kept walking away. I was so upset with myself for what I did. I did promise to him that I wouldn't try to do this and I didn't mean to. It was just like an act of impulse or instinct or something. I wasn't thinking. My mind just sort of told me to do it to make it the perfect moment. As I finished wiping the now water from my face, unable to tell which was from snow or from my tears, I took a big sniff and started walking back to the hotel. The worst part of it all was Kyle calling me a "fag". I'd never heard him call anyone a name before. I was the first... and he used THAT word. This was the worst moment of my life.
