Nico and Gordy's Crazy 8 Club Adventures

Part #9

By: Paul S. Stevens

Chapter #68

A Swerve In The Road Of Life

I arrived at the `Destined for Providence Restaurant and Bakery' at our reserved time and Gordy had beaten me there by five minutes. I told the Maître d' I had a reservation under the name of `Gordon Elliott' and he led me to the table where Gordy was already waiting. He was extravagantly dressed and he looked so sexy that I got a semi erection at the mere sight of him. He tried to get us a bottle of champagne but since both of us were underage, he had to settle for a bottle of Sparkling Cider. Even though his choice was non-alcoholic, he still had it chilled on ice and had it served in two elegant Champagne glasses.

I sat down and told Gordy what a knock-out he was and how glad I was that he was mine. He told me I looked devastatingly handsome and thanked God we were together. He started to reach across the table to kiss me.

"What are you doing?" I asked as I backed away.

"I was going to kiss you," he answered.

"We can't do that here," I told him.

"What's the matter, are you embarrassed to be seen kissing me?" he said feeling a little hurt.

"Hell no, it's not that and you know it," I shot back. "Didn't you hear about the story in the papers a couple of weeks ago about the two gay celebrities that kissed each other in the restaurant? They were asked to leave. I just don't want that to happen to us. I think we're already attracting too much attention."

Across the dining room was a table with four macho guys drinking beer and getting kind of loud. They were cussing profusely and saying some rather unsavory things about gays and us in particular.

"If anyone should be asked to leave, it should be those guys," Gordy said.

We tried to ignore them and enjoy our dinner. Gordy ordered the Beef Wellington and I ordered the Coq-Au-Vin. We had a marvelous time. The food was delicious and the company was extraordinary.

Gordy picked up the tab as part of my birthday gift and I thanked him kindly. I told him I would be thanking him much more explicitly once our planned sleepover was underway later tonight. I couldn't wait to get him home so we could get started.

We exited the restaurant and agreed that we would meet at my house in an hour. That would give me enough time to get things ready at home and for Gordy to gather up his sleepover essentials and make his way over. We separated and started to walk to our individual cars since our vehicles were parked at opposite sides of the lot.

From out of nowhere, four guys with baseball bats came up behind Gordy and I heard him scream in pain as Gordy became a victim of an un-provoked attack.

I turned to see what was going on and Gordy was already half way across the parking lot from me, doubled over from being struck by one of them. I recognized the four thugs as the group of guys that were sitting across the dining room from us who were being so rude earlier. I became enraged when I saw them swinging their bats and yelling profanities at my lover. I raced over to help him, disregarding the fact that Gordy and I were un-armed and we were outnumbered. It was about to become the two of us against the four of them.

As I approached the mob, I was running faster than I've ever run in my life. Gordy was hopelessly surrounded by these guys and the thug that was standing directly behind him swung his bat before I could reach him. He hit Gordy full force in the back of his head and Gordy went down like a ton of bricks. As I watched Gordy go down, I let out a blood curdling scream.

"Nooooooooo...!"

I made a bee line straight for the guy who struck Gordy down. He made the mistake of hurting the one person who meant more to me than anything else in the world. I didn't know how badly Gordy had gotten hit but he was lying there motionless and I experienced so much rage that I momentarily felt capable of murder. I ran full force towards him and slammed my barreling body into his stationary body, tackling him with every ounce of strength I had. As we hit the ground together, I ripped the baseball bat from his hands and started swinging it at him. We both scrambled to our feet and I hit him forcefully across the body. I felt a temporary rush of satisfaction as I heard a bone crack. I believe that I broke his arm and he ran away from me, unable to swing his left arm as he ran. I saw red as I turned to the remaining attackers to determine who I was going to go after next.

"Come on ya little fagot, ya gonna take the three of us on?" One of them said goading me into a fight.

"You better watch out, he might try to kiss you," another one said making kissy noises with his mouth, making the other two guys start laughing.

Just then a large group of patrons exited the restaurant. They immediately saw my plight. They saw Gordy on the ground in a pool of blood and they saw me trying to fend off three attackers as I stood over Gordy's body, protecting him with my life. They started yelling at the goons and shouting what the hell was going on. The three cowards joined their fourth buddy that had run off earlier and soon, they all disappeared. The patrons came to our aid asking what they can do to help.

"Please call the Police and an Ambulance," I pleaded before I started shaking and crying uncontrollably.

I knelt down to ascertain the extent of Gordy's injuries while I waited for the Paramedics to arrive. He was totally unresponsive and bleeding profusely. I tried not to freak out at the blood. I remembered from my first aid training that head wounds bleed heavily and is not a true indication of its severity. I removed my suit jacket and vest and tore a strip of fabric from my white dress shirt and used it to put some pressure on Gordy's head in an attempt to stop the bleeding. The tears were pouring out of my eyes like a fountain as the worst case scenario played out in my mind. I realized in that moment that if Gordy died, I wouldn't want to continue living.

"Gordy, stay with me now," I said to him as I cradled his body in my arms. "You're going to be okay. Help is on the way. Just hang on okay buddy. I love you!"

Chapter #69

Out In the Open

By now, we were both bathed in Gordy's blood. Why couldn't it have been me that they attacked first? I found myself wishing I could trade places with Gordy right now. Then I remembered how I backed away from Gordy's kiss in the restaurant and how it hurt his feelings. I felt the sting of regret over it, then my heart turned stone-cold as Gordy's breathing started to become labored.

"Where in the hell is that Ambulance?" I screamed out. Just then, I heard the sirens approaching and in seconds, the Restaurant parking lot turned into a surrealistic scene taken right out of a disaster movie.

The Paramedics asked me to step a side and the three of them scrambled to attend to Gordy with their emergency equipment. They immediately put him on a respirator and they prepped the defibrillator just in case it would be needed. I stood there watching them work on Gordy and I felt totally useless.

The two officers that arrived with the Paramedics began their investigation. One of the officers interviewed me and his partner interviewed the Restaurant Patrons that came to our rescue. I told him what had happened and what I knew. He wanted to know things like where I lived, what my phone number was and then wanted to see my driver's license. He asked where I went to school and where my car was parked. He wanted to know if I knew the guys who attacked us and if Gordy and I had provoked them. I couldn't see how these questions were going to be helpful in apprehending the bastards who premeditated their attack on us. He was not happy that I had disarmed one of the perpetrators and attacked him with his own weapon. He was so cold and matter of fact that he made me feel like I was the criminal and I thought he was going to arrest me. He had the nerve to tell me not to leave town. Needless to say, he made me furious.

Once the Paramedics felt they had gotten Gordy stabilized, they put him on a gurney and lifted him into the Ambulance. I quickly found out which Hospital they were going to be taking him to before they left the scene and I somehow mustered enough presence of mind to make my way there.

Once I arrived at the Hospital, I tried to find out what I could about Gordy's condition. Because I was not a family member, they wouldn't tell me anything. For now, Gordy was in the Intensive Care Unit and he was in critical condition but stable. I sat in the waiting room and cried for a while. When I got control of myself, I called Gordy's house to let Mr. & Mrs. Elliott know what had happened to Gordy and what Hospital they had taken him to. They had just gotten a call from the Hospital Staff and were almost out the door when I called. Then I called my house and let Mom and Dad know what had happened and let them know that I was a little bruised and shaken but I was okay and I was going to be staying here to support Gordy and his family.

When Gordy's parents arrived, the staff informed them about their son's condition and that they should go to the waiting room to await their call. They said that they would send someone down to inform us when we could visit Gordon once they returned him from having some x-rays taken. They made their way to the waiting room, saw me there and came over to sit with me.

"Hi Mr. Elliott, Mrs. Elliott," I said as they approached me. "Did you find out anything about Gordy's condition?" They were shocked to see me visibly shaken and with my shirt torn and covered in blood.

"Gordon is down stairs having some x-rays taken," Mr. Elliott said.

"When they bring him back to his room, they'll let us see him then," Mrs. Elliott said. "Nicholas... what the hell happened?"

I told them the story in pretty vivid details and Mrs. Elliott started crying and Mr. Elliott held her tightly.

"Is Gordon Gay?" Mr. Elliott asked. I was bowled over. I was not expecting to be asked a question like this so bluntly. I stared at the both of them not knowing how to respond.

"Look Nicholas...," Mr. Elliott began. "The police already told us it was a hate crime. He called it a gay bashing! There were witnesses that confirmed that these guys who attacked Gordon were calling you two `Faggots' and `Queers'."

"We've had our suspicions for years now," Mrs. Elliott said. "Gordon has never had any dates. He's never talked about, or brought home any girls. He's never gone to any of the school dances. We just thought that he hasn't found the right girl yet!"

"So, are you two lovers?" Mr. Elliott asked point blank. "We know you two are close. We know you go places and disappear with each other all the time. The two of you do sleepovers much more often than most boys do at your age and now this!"

I was caught between a rock and a hard place. It sounded like they had already worked all this out in their minds. Nevertheless, I couldn't betray the trust of my lover. I just stared at the two of them with my mouth hanging open.

"Alright, you leave us no choice!" Mr. Elliott said. "I'm sorry Nicholas, I hate to do this to you but... we don't want you seeing Gordon anymore." A look of horror flashed across my face.

"Nooooo... Don't do that... please...," I pleaded.

"I'm sorry Nicholas, but we have to see to it that Gordon gets a chance to have a normal life," Mr. Elliott said. "We need to give him a chance to find a girl and possibly get married."

"And give us some Grand Babies," Mrs. Elliott added.

"He can't very well do that if he stays committed to a relationship like yours," Mr. Elliott said. "If you truly care about him, you'll give him the opportunity to grow and develop like a normal individual."

I was freaking out inside. Gordy's Mom and Dad had no conception of who their son really was. They were his parents all right but they didn't know the boy. They had no notion that it was their son who forged our relationship at the beginning and seduced me into being his lover. They had no clue how far reaching our love for each other stretched and they had no idea how today, I was ready to give my life for their son. They had no hint that Gordy and I were members of the Crazy 8s, an exclusive all boys sex club. They had no indication that their son was a long time member and had just been sworn in as the President of that very club. They had no concept of how many club brothers respected and loved their son. They had no inkling of how deep and unshakable Gordy's commitment was to his responsibilities.

Then I had a flashback of when I was in the school play last year. Our School is named after William Shakespeare and last year's play was Shakespeare's `Romeo and Juliet'. Here was Mr. & Mrs. Elliott, forbidding Gordy and I to see each other just like in the play. I gained a better appreciation and understanding of `Romeo and Juliet' as I got faced with a remarkably similar situation. The idea of suicide prominently filled my thoughts as I couldn't imagine a life without Gordy in it.

"Mr. & Mrs. Elliott," a voice called out at the waiting room doorway, breaking the surmounting tension in the room.

"Right here," Gordy's parents answered, rising to their feet.

"Gordon has been returned to room #302 on the third floor," the male nurse said. "You can briefly see him now. Follow me!"

The three of them left the room leaving me alone and feeling quite vulnerable and despondent. What was I going to do? I was just forbidden to see my lover who needed me to be here with him now more than ever and I wasn't going to let them stop me. I knew what Mr. Elliott's pick-up truck looked like so I went to the parking lot to find it and wait for them to come out. Sooner or later they were going to have to go to the restaurant and pick up the car that Gordy was driving and take it home. I waited and watched for the two of them to come out and drive away before I went back in to see Gordy. I slipped past the nurse's station and found room #302 and entered.

Chapter #70

An Unexpected Visitor

My heart sank as I beheld the sight. Gordy was connected to no less then five machines. He was on a respirator that regulated his breathing. A heart monitor was beeping at regular intervals and displayed his vitals. He had an IV machine monitoring the drip rate of two different solutions. He had a white band around his head with several electrodes connected to it. I sat next to the bed in one of the two available chairs in the room and held Gordy's only hand that didn't have anything connected to it. I called out his name but he still was as unresponsive as he was in that parking lot. I started to cry again. How could this wonderful day that had been filled with so many good memories end in such a tragic way. My sweet Gordy never did anything to anybody to deserve this. As I sat next to Gordy and wallowed in my own self pity, someone entered the room.

"Nico?" The voice said. I was startled for a moment thinking Gordy's parents had returned. I wiped my eyes and looked at the doorway. It was Andrew Dyson a.k.a. Nathan Crest a.k.a. Duncan.

"Drew, is that you?" I asked surprised to see him.

"Yeah, it's me," he answered. "I heard the call on the police scanner and I went to the scene to check it out. I saw you there being interrogated and I was Gordy lying on the ground. I'm just a low level undercover juvenile agent. I had no jurisdiction there to get involved. I did however, talk to the officer's in charge of the case. I read the reports that have been filed so far and found out what they've learned. Now that I'm here, I want to hear your side of the story directly from you! What happened?"

I told Drew in detail what happened. I told him that the one thing I didn't tell the Officer in charge was that I think I broke the arm of the guy who took Gordy down. I didn't tell him at the time because I wasn't sure of it but now that I've had time to think about it, I'm pretty sure I did.

A nurse came to the room to record Gordy's vitals and told us we had to leave. Drew pulled out his badge and told her we were both here on official police business. She told us that was fine, documented Gordy's readings and left us alone to continue.

"This is not my case but I promise you, I'm going to find those guys who did this to Gordy and bring them in," Drew promised.

"That's very good of you," I praised. "I got the feeling those Officers on our case weren't going to be doing very much to help us."

"You guys were really nice to me earlier today," he explained. "You treated me like a friend and not a cop and you gave me a priceless gift I had not expected. Because of my job, I don't have any friends in this town. You offered me genuine friendship when I really needed it. I'm going to do whatever it takes to bring these bastards to justice. This was an unforgivable crime and they hurt my two newest friends. They're going to pay for what they did. I'll start by checking for any broken arm cases at all the local hospitals and see if I can turn anything up that way."

"Thanks Drew," I said. "I'm glad we've got somebody working on our side."

I got up and wrapped my arms around Drew and hugged him sweetly before he left and I can tell he appreciated the gesture because he kissed me gently on the cheek before he let go. I thanked God that things worked out the way they did with Drew and that we found a friend in what we thought was our adversary.

After Drew left, I called my parents from the Hospital phone and told them I'd be staying an extra hour past visiting hours and then I'd be coming home. I dared not stay any longer than that because I didn't want to jeopardize my ability to come back and see my friend in the coming days ahead. I talked sweetly to Gordy and tried to let him know I was here for him and that he was loved. When the time came to leave, Gordy had still not regained consciousness and I found it hard to leave him. I had to convince myself that he would be well taken care of here and I needed my own rest if I were going to be of any use to anybody tomorrow.

Once I got home, I started calling our friends to let them know what had happened and that Gordy was in the Hospital and was still unconscious. This was a difficult task because it was already getting late and everyone wanted to know all the details. I wanted to call everybody while I was sitting in with Gordy but they don't allow cell phone usage in the Hospital. Even though it was Saturday night, I tried to keep our conversations short so I could call as many people as possible before it got to be too late.

A little while later, Mom and Dad knocked on my bedroom door and asked to talk to me. I had forgotten that I hadn't told them the whole story of what had happened yet and how Gordy was doing. My parents were so great, they gave me all the time I needed to visit with Gordy and call all my friends before they just couldn't wait any longer. I filled them in on the events of the day and they expressed their concern for Gordy but mostly for me. After all, with my torn shirt and bloodied clothes, I must have looked like I cheated death. I told them that I was lucky and my injuries were nothing compared to Gordy. He was unprepared for the attack and was taken by surprise. I told them how I thought it was unfair that I escaped relatively untouched while Gordy laid unconscious in a Hospital bed. They told me they were sorry and felt bad for Gordy but they thanked God I was all right. They kissed me and fussed over me to the point of embarrassment.

Chapter #71

Lifted Restrictions

I had a lot of trouble getting to sleep as my thoughts kept turning to Gordy's predicament. After tossing and turning for a while, I finally fell asleep around one o'clock in the morning. At 4:37 in the morning I was jolted awake. Something happened to Gordy and I was sent a psychic message. I experienced a psychic visitation once before when my Grandfather died and came to me to say goodbye. I was now wide awake and I immediately called the Hospital but only got a recording to call during business hours. I knew positively that it was Gordy. I just didn't know if the message was that he had passed away or simply came out of his coma as he returned to his body.

I was restless and couldn't sleep. I had to know what happened to Gordy but there was nothing I could do until the Hospital resumed their normal operating hours. I waited until the sun came up and then I showered and prepared to do whatever it took to see Gordy. It was Sunday Morning and I was just about to leave the house and head for the Hospital when I got a call on my cell phone. I looked at the caller I.D. and my heart sunk when I saw it was from Gordy's Mom.

"Hello Mrs. Elliott," I politely greeted.

"Hello Nicholas," she replied. "I'm calling you to let you know that Gordon regained consciousness last night a little after 4:30 in the morning."

"Oh Thank God, I've been so worried Mrs. Elliott," I said then started to cry right there on the phone.

"His Father and I have been with him all morning and he's been asking for you non-stop," she continued. "We told him that we didn't want you to be seeing him anymore and he got so hysterical with us that the Doctor had to sedate him. They said he needs to keep his blood pressure down to prevent a relapse. Right now, he won't even talk to us until he gets to see you! The Doctor told us we needed to do whatever it takes to keep him calm. His Father doesn't know I'm calling you so... will you come... so that Gordon can see you... please?"

"Yes ma'am, I'm leaving right now," I said as I tried to stop crying. "I'll be there in just a couple of minutes.

"Thanks," was all she said and then hung up.

I was ready to fly out the door when Mom stopped me.

"Are you going to the Hospital to see Gordy?" she asked.

"Yeah!" I said. "Of course!"

"I need to remind you about your birthday party today with your family. All the guests will be arriving at around two this afternoon. Please make sure you're back in time okay?"

"Sure Mom, no problem," I told her.

"After dinner, when everyone has gone, we'll all go to visit Gordy together, how does that sound?" she asked.

"Thanks, that sounds great!" I said. "I'll see you later than."

I raced out the door and made it to the Hospital in record time. I made my way to Gordy's room and saw Gordy asleep with his parents hovering over him.

"What's he doing here?" Mr. Elliott growled.

"Now just calm down sweetheart," Mrs. Elliott said to her Husband. "I asked Nicholas to come here."

"I thought we agreed about this already," he said.

"I know dear," she said softly. "Let's go get some breakfast and we'll talk about it. The cafeteria should be open by now. Come on darling let's let them have some time alone together."

Mrs. Elliott took her Husband's hand and led him out of the room. She winked at me as the two of them passed me on their way out. I went over to Gordy's side and took his hand. He opened his eyes and started crying the moment he saw me. I thought I was going to be strong for my boyfriend but seeing him alive and conscious was overwhelming and I let loose of all the stress and worry I had been holding back for the past sixteen hours or so. There we were, like two star-crossed lovers blubbering over each other like it was the end of the world.

Chapter #72

A Parade Of Visitors

I bent down to kiss him and I could taste the salt from our combined tears and a faint taste of stale blood.

"Oh My God it's so good to see you my precious baby," I managed to say between the tears.

"I'm so glad you weren't seriously hurt my love," Gordy said with a raspy quality to his voice.

Once we both settled down and regained our composure, we started comparing notes on our separate experiences. Of course, I had much more to say since Gordy was in a coma for the majority of it. I told him about the tackle I had with the guy who hit him from behind and how I disarmed him and used his own weapon against him and how I think I may have broken his left arm. I told him about the Paramedics and the police interrogation. I told him about how I visited with him for hours, holding his hand while he lay unconscious. I told him about his late night visitor, Officer Drew and how he vowed to find his assailant out of respect for our newly forged friendship. Lastly I told him how I called all of our club brothers last night to fill them in on what happened.

Once all of that had time to sink in, I told him the grim details about my conversation with his Parents in the waiting room. I told him how they asked me point blank if he was gay. I promised him how I did not betray his trust in any way. I told him how the Police told his Parents that it was a hate crime and when asked what that meant they said, it was a classic `gay-bashing'. I told him how the police further complicated matters by telling them that the thugs who attacked us were calling us `Faggots' and `Queers'. I told him how his Parents outright asked me if I was gay as well and if he and I were lovers. I told him that when I didn't answer his Parents inquiries, they forbid me to ever see him again. I told him how his Father was worried he'd never get married if we stayed together and how he said that he needed to have a chance at a `Normal Life'. I told him how his Mother was worried she'd never get any `Grand Babies'. I told him that the only reason I was allowed to see him was because he freaked out at the thought of us being separated and his mother was afraid he'd have a relapse if he didn't calm down. She believed that the only way to prevent it was to give him what he wanted. I told him how she called me and pleaded with me to come and visit against his Father's wishes. I told him how sorry I was and how I hoped he wasn't too mad at me.

"Mad at you?" he asked. "How can I be mad at you? None of this is your fault."

"I'm afraid your secrets out," I warned. "I'm so sorry!"

"Don't worry about it," Gordy said. "They were going to find out sooner or later anyway. I just wish it were later rather than sooner!"

Just then, Wade came to visit and he brought Robert with him.

"Hey pretty boy," Robert said as he walked into the room.

"Thanks Robert," I said.

"What do you mean, Thanks Robert?" Gordy sneered. "He was talking to me!"

"What do you mean he was talking to you," I countered. "I'm the only pretty boy in the room!"

Both Robert and Wade started laughing at us.

"How cute," Wade remarked. "They're fighting over who's prettier."

"Gordy, you sound like you're in good spirits this morning my friend," Robert observed. "And Nico, you're looking pretty good too. Happy belated birthday to you my friend! I wish I could have attended your party yesterday, I hear you got quite a surprise."

"Yeah, but Gordy's surprise was much less appreciated," I said turning the attention back over to Gordy where it belonged. "We found out that Duncan's real name is Andrew. We have a new friend now and Drew is going to help us find the guys who did this to Gordy."

Wade and Robert spent a few minutes visiting with Gordy. They said it was Sunday and that they were expected to be with their families and besides, there were several people in the waiting room waiting to see Gordy and that they were only allowing two visitors at a time. They each kissed Gordy before they left and told him to get his ass out of there as soon as possible. As Robert and Wade left, they sent in the next two.

It was Trent and Skeeter. Trent told Gordy that if he got his hands on these guys, he'd surely kill them. Skeeter on the other hand was close to tears seeing one of his heroes in such a fragile condition. They too kissed Gordy upon leaving and sent in the next visitors.

Gordy's next guests were Chad and Desi and they also visited for a while. The more people that came to visit Gordy, the stronger and happier he became. Chad told me that a friend of his who is a member of our sister club Archimedes wanted to buy our Fleshjack overstock. As Chad and I talked, Desi was lifting Gordy's spirits by pulling his shorts and underwear off and doing a cock-a-doodle-doo dance, flinging his naked young ding-a-ling in celebration of Gordy's recovery.

"Stop that you little pervert," Chad ordered. "You're gonna get us both banned from the Hospital!"

Desi flashed Chad a defeated frown as he reluctantly pulled his shorts and underwear back on.

I had to laugh because Desi's behavior was the very thing I found endearing about the unsinkable spirit of that little dynamo. His infectious innocence was making a difference too because I saw Gordy reach under the covers to rearrange his rising boner. I was glad to see that this was helping Gordy to progress even further down that very long road to recovery.

In forty-five minutes or so, Gordy had received a brief visit from every one of his club brother and when the last of them left, he was looking one hundred percent better than he was when I arrived. A couple of minutes later, Drew came back and was excited to see Gordy awake and talking.

Chapter #73

The Search Is On

"Gordy, How are you my friend?" Drew asked as he raced to Gordy's side and gently hugged and kissed him and then turned and did the same to me. Gordy was bowled over with the energetic forwardness of our new friend.

"Have you found out anything new since I saw you last night?" I asked.

"Well, nobody with the perpetrator's description registered with a broken arm at any of the local Hospitals but I'm not finished yet," Drew explained. "I'll check with the local Doctors Offices who have `on premises' X-ray machines. This guy may have eluded us by going to a Doctor instead of a Hospital. On a different note, I did talk to the Night Manager at the Restaurant this morning. He told me that a customer with young children complained about the group's inappropriate language and behavior. Because it's a family Restaurant, he was compelled to ask them to keep it down and clean up their act. When he got a second complaint from another unhappy customer, he asked the four of them to leave. They got pissed off and went to their car to get their bats. I think that these guys were coming back to the restaurant to take their anger out on the Manager by breaking up some chairs and tables. I think it was just bad timing that you guys were leaving just as they were coming back and the two of you were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. I think they were out to incur some property damage, not to attack any people. When they saw Gordy walking alone, they remembered that it was you guys who got them started in the first place and things just got out of control."

"What are you saying?" I asked. "Are you saying that these guys are just regular old Joes?"

"Well yeah," he answered bluntly. "These guys started drinking. Soon they were outright drunk. Then they got loud and obnoxious. They were asked to quiet down which pissed them off and then they were asked to leave shortly thereafter. They were probably angry about something before they even entered the Restaurant and it all snowballed from there. The precinct profiler told me these guys were likely upstanding businessmen with families, active in the community. They're most likely church going individuals and don't have a criminal record which is going to make it tough to find them. I did get a better description from the Night Manager than the Officers at the scene had gotten from the parking lot Patrons. Because it happened outside, no one had thought to question the Restaurant staff where it all started."

"There's no doubt you're going to become a very fine criminal investigator," Gordy praised. "You consider things that other people would normally miss."

"Speaking for both Gordy and I, we're extremely lucky to have you on our side," I said.

"Well, I've got to run on my way now," Drew said. "I'll be back again when I've made some more progress!" He hugged Gordy again and this time, Gordy kissed him in appreciation for all he'd already done for us. Then Drew hugged and kissed me and then went on his way.

"I'm going to have to leave now," I told Gordy. "My family is arriving in a couple of hours for my birthday and I promised I'd be there. After dinner, when all the guests are gone, I'll be back and Mom and Dad want to visit with you as well."

I was giving Gordy a kiss goodbye when his Parents returned from the cafeteria and walked in on us.

"What the hell is going on here?" Gordy's Dad snarled.

"Just an innocent kiss goodbye Dad," he shot back.

"It didn't look innocent to me," his Dad argued.

"I'll see you later Nico," Gordy said nodding his head, indicating that I should leave while the leaving was good.

I felt bad having to leave Gordy alone to have to contend with the `Coming-Out' conversation his parents were no doubt determined to have with him in their quest to get at the truth. I did not envy him his task. This made me think about my own situation with my Parents. With all the gay stuff rising to the surface with Gordy, how was it going to affect me and my Parents? Now that I've come to see Gordy today and helped him get his blood pressure under control, were his Parents going to reinstate their ban against us seeing each other again? The fact that they just walked in on our passionate kiss goodbye didn't help any either. My Mother was always saying to me: `Hold yourself safe from accidents because when you're down, all the shit comes out'. I never understood that saying until now!
Chapter #74

Truths Revealed

I got back home just in time to change and prepare for my family guests to arrive. I had a good time and enjoyed being around my Aunts and Uncles and all my Cousins. Even though I was kept busy and entertained, I still had the image of Gordy lying in that Hospital bed that occupied the foremost front of my mind. I agonized over the uncomfortable position that Gordy's Parents probably put him in. As I left Gordy earlier this afternoon, he seemed less concerned about his `coming-out' talk with his Parents than I would have been. I only hope that I could be as strong as Gordy if I ever have to have that conversation with my Parents!

As most of my guests departed to go home, I became anxious about going back to see Gordy again. My Parents had expressed their desire to show their support for Gordy by accompanying me to visit him tonight. I was concerned that if Gordy's Parents were still there, they might express their disapproval of me visiting. I didn't need any circumstances to arise where my Parents and Gordy's experienced an awkward moment. I didn't want the four of them comparing notes about the relationship between Gordy and me and thereby accidentally spilling the beans about the entire `Gay' thing.

"Nicholas, are you ready to make that trip to the Hospital now?" my Mother asked.

"I don't know Mom," I said. "Maybe this isn't the best time for you to be seeing him."

"Oh pish-posh," she said. "Tomorrow, we'll all be back to work and you'll be back in school and it will be much harder to try to see him then. I'll tell you what. How about you take my car over and I'll go with your Father. That way we can visit for a while and then come home and you can stay as long as you want."

"That sounds great Mom," I said. "Thanks!"

She was right about not putting it off and her offer to go in separate cars was a stroke of genius. I was unable to come up with any other plausible excuses why they shouldn't go so we got ready to leave. We cleaned up the little bit of mess that our guests had left behind and soon, we were on our way to the Hospital. I quickly glanced around the parking lot to see if I could spot Gordy's Mom's car or his Dad's pick-up truck in the Hospital parking lot. I drew in a sigh of relief when I didn't see their vehicles anywhere. We parked our cars side by side and walked in together. We used the elevator to go to the third floor and headed for room #302. As we stepped into Gordy's room, the room was empty. Dad went over to the Nurses station to inquire about Gordy's whereabouts. She told him that Gordy's condition had improved enough for him to be transferred to a regular room on the second floor, room #288.

We took the elevator down to the second floor and found room #288. We stepped in and Gordy was asleep. I went around to his side and gently woke him up.

"Hey Gordy," I said quietly and took his hand into mine. He fluttered his eyes open and started to reach up for me.

"Look, my Parents came to see you!" I said quickly before he got a chance to pull me into a kiss. Gordy looked towards the door and smiled.

"Oh hi Mr. Harris, Mrs. Harris," Gordy said respectfully, greeting my Parents warmly. "Thanks for coming to see me!"

"Well you're practically a member of our family," my Mom said.

"Tell us what happened," my Dad said. "Nicholas didn't tell us much. I'd like to here your side of the story!"

Gordy did a good job of giving my Parents the `G' rated version of our ordeal.

"We were having a nice dinner at a Restaurant and minding our own business," Gordy began. "When we came out, I was walking to my car and Nico was walking to where he had parked his, which happened to be on the other side of the lot. From out of nowhere, these four guys with baseball bats surrounded me and started swinging. The first guy swung at me intending to hit me in the stomach. His aim was a little high and he broke one of my ribs on the left side. It hurt so much I think I must have screamed and that's when Nico found out I was being attacked. I know that Nico came running as soon as he heard I was in trouble but before he got to me, the guy behind me swung and hit me in the back of the head. That's all I know. I was unconscious from that point on. The night they brought me here, I had a concussion and I was suffering from what they call `Swelling of the Brain'. They had to do an emergency surgery to drain the fluid buildup that was causing me to be unconscious. They might have to do it again soon because there's still a bit of swelling going on and I won't be able to go home until they get it under control. They have me on a bunch of different medications and I've been told that I've been slipping off to sleep intermittently for two days now, so if I fall asleep while you're talking to me, don't take it personally."

I was utterly shocked to find out about Gordy's condition. Up to now, no one had told me about his emergency surgery, his broken ribs and his grim prognosis. I was so proud of how brave Gordy was being about it all and I struggled to keep myself from tearing up in front of him and my Parents.

"Wow, what a story, I'm so sorry," my Dad said. "Did they find out why they did this?"

"They were asked to leave by the Manager because they were getting loud and using profanity," Gordy answered. "There were children present and their parents had complained to the staff about it. When these jerks were asked to leave, they got belligerent and decided they were going to come back with baseball bats and teach them a lesson by breaking up the place. They just happened to came upon me first outside in the parking lot and they took out their aggressions on me instead."

"Well that's just plain crazy!" my Mom said.

"Yes Ma'am," Gordy said. "I'm not defending them or anything, but they were `skunk drunk'!"

"You're right," my Mom said. "That's no excuse."

Chapter #75

Determination Pays Off

My Parents stayed a few minutes longer before Gordy fell asleep in the middle of our conversation. It was scary to me how eerie it was to see him be awake and alert one minute and then out cold the next. Mom and Dad told me to give Gordy there best wishes for a speedy recovery and took the opportunity to slip out quietly. They told me not to stay out too long since tomorrow was a school day. Mom blew me a kiss goodbye as she and Dad walked out the door to head home. I sat down next to Gordy and held his hand until he opened his eyes again.

"Oh My God, Where's your Mom and Dad?" Gordy asked.

"They went home," I answered. "You kind of dropped off the face of the Planet there for a while."

"Shit!" Gordy exclaimed. "How long was I out?"

"About twenty minutes," I said.

"Oh man, I'm sorry," he apologized.

"There's nothing to be sorry about," I said. "You told us to expect this, remember?"

"Yeah, but I wasn't planning on letting it happen to your Parents." he complained.

"Don't worry about it," I said. "They'll get over it!"

A few minutes later, Drew came in.

"Hey Drew," we both said in unison.

"Hi guys, I've got some good news," He said. "I tracked down the guy whose arm you broke."

"No Shit, did you really?" I asked.

"Yeah and I called in an anonymous tip to the precinct," Drew said smiling. "They've already arrested him and they are interrogating him right now."

"Do you think that he'll rat out his friends?" Gordy asked.

"He will once they charge him with `Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon' and `Attempted Murder' just to start off with," Drew explained. "He'll have a hard time defending himself in jail with that broken arm! Once he understands that they'll throw the book at him unless he cooperates, he'll talk!"

"How did you find him?" I asked.

"As I suspected, someone with his description came in with a broken arm and had it set and cast at a local Doctor's office," he grinned. "You see, Hospitals by law, are required to report gun shot wounds and suspected child abuse cases and little else. Broken arms don't usually set off any alarms. Most of what goes on in a Doctors office falls under Doctor/Patient Confidentiality. I got one of the office staff employees to slip me the patient's name and address, then he slipped me his. I think he likes me!"

"Cool," Gordy said.

"I think you should go for it!" I encouraged.

"Why would he want me?" Drew wondered out loud.

"Are you kidding me?" I frowned. "Why wouldn't he want you? You're a smart and intelligent guy. You're very good looking and sexy. You have a dynamite personality and you have a lot to offer a mate. And I know from personal experience that you're going to be one hell of a lover in bed!"

Drew hung on my every word and even turned a little red from embarrassment as I told it like it was.

"Yeah, you're right," he agreed. "I deserve to be happy. I'm so glad you two are my friends. You've changed my life in more ways than you can imagine."

"Glad to be of service," Gordy said.

Drew gave Gordy and I our goodbye hug and kiss as he prepared to leave.

"You know, Gordy and I were headed for a sleepover at my house the night we were attacked," I informed Drew. "You knew it was my birthday because it was my club party you walked in on that day. After dinner, Gordy and I were planning on a long night of one on one passion. Maybe when Gordy gets out of here and we try again to have that sleepover that we had been deprived of. Perhaps you could join us for a night of frisky and playful companionship and exploration."

I smiled and winked at him as I made the offer and Gordy smiled at him as well which told me that he was okay with including Drew in what was supposed to be my private one on one with Gordy.

As Drew left the room, I discovered I had gotten an erection from making my offer to Drew and I watched Gordy reach under his Hospital gown to give a little fondling attention to his own growing hard-on. I now had two things to look forward to. One, knowing that Gordy was able to achieve a boner under these extreme conditions meant that his time in this Hospital bed was nearing an end. He'd be coming home soon and I was ready to share better days with my best friend, partner and lover. And two, the thought of Gordy and I both getting to know Drew more intimately was turning us both on big time!
