Chapter Fifty Three We all finally got dressed and were ready to join the party. Our valet helped us all get the ties right. None of us wear bow ties very often. Ok, none of us had ever had on a bow tie. Hehehe Tim and Tom stayed with Zac the whole party. They talked to his brothers for a little while along with some of the others in our band, but the three of them were never apart. Soon, it was time for the Hanson's to play, and they all started for their suite to get ready. Tim ran over and said, "we are going with Zac so he can get ready, OK?" "Sure. Stay with him, though. Don't go wandering all over the place," I answered. "We will. I promise," Tim said, as he ran over to where Tim and Zac were waiting. "And don't run!" I yelled, but he was already walking away. I heard someone laughing, and I turned to see Mike standing next to me. "You guys were awesome. Everyone has been really impressed. You may not know it, but you have made some really important connections here today." "We have? I really haven't met that many people. I am watching the boys and making sure they don't destroy this party," I answered. "Don't worry about it. I am making the connections for you. Why don't you let me introduce you to a few people. It couldn't do your book business any harm, either," he said. I just shrugged my shoulders, and said `Why the Hell not!` to myself. I was enjoying the party, now that I didn't have to be on stage any more. *************************** The Hanson's were finally ready to play, and the boys were right in front of the stage. Tim and Tom were leading the way, and smiling at Zac as he sat down behind his drums. They played several of the songs that were on their newest CD. `This Time Around`, `If Only`, and `Save Me` were especially good. The boys also seemed to really like `Runaway Run` and `Dying To Be Alive`, too. The audience gave them lots of applause, but nothing like our band had gotten. I guess that is why they played more songs than they had intended. No big band likes to be outplayed by a lesser known group. (Just ask Deep Purple - hehehe) Tim and Tom accompanied Zac and his brothers back to their suite to get changed for dinner, chatting away about how good the Hanson's had sounded. They needed to hurry as dinner would be in only thirty minutes. **************************** (Alex's turn again) Since it was around 9.30 PM by now, they were famished, even though they ate plenty of snacks since they arrived. They saw Matt and Mike walking towards the tents, and joined them. They walked through the gardens, all lit from different sources, which gave the whole setting a wonderful look, with the plants and fountains. They saw the main entrance and walked towards it. They were greeted by the Butler, who was at the door. He congratulated them profusely about their show and then a Maitre D' came over to show them to their round table. The whole tent is joined with the other one so that the 500 guests could sit in groups of 12 to 16 or so per round table. In the back, you have a large table that served as a bar, and some fancy ice sculptures made in the forms of a Swan, Peacock, and Dolphin. One was a Crane with a small fish in her beak. These ice sculptures weren't all transparent. Some have colored parts in them, making this whole table glitter with a nice glow from a light placed behind them. Each and every table are decorated with a floor length tablecloth in dark blue and another one on top which is translucent in soft blue hues with some silver threads embroidered on it, with matching double napkins, held by crystal rings and a sprig of tiny Orchids. In the center of each table, you have a round bouquet, large but not high, in the same tones from dark blue to soft blue and white. Small votive candles in blue tones lit in front of each person plate. All the plates are centered on larger silver plates. The top porcelain ones showed ornate motifs with silver, gold, dark blue and softer blue hues. Suspended on top of each table, you have a chandelier made of brass with crystal. 6 different crystal glasses trimmed with silver motifs for the different wines faced each guests. A large number of silverware was on each side of their plates. The chairs are high back, covered in fabric, going down the floor, tied by a large knock and bow holding the same sprig of Orchids. Soft music could be heard coming through hidden speakers in the room. The sat down and started to look around them. They weren't sure who all these people they were looking at were, but the way they were dressed sure surprised many of them. Evening tuxedos for the men and long evening gowns for women, some of which had trains on them. A lot of them had on so many jewelry that they thought this whole place was worth many times over their life's worth. "Would you look at this table," Ed said. "Do we need to use all of these knives and forks? Gees, I won't know which one to use," Paul said. "Just follow us three, Ok?" Matt said, looking at Phill and Mike since they knew what to do already. "Gotcha," Paul said. "Paul," Stan said, looking at him. "Eerrmm. I will, Master Matthew," Paul said laughing. Everyone laughs with him, many people and some celebrities came to talk and congratulate them, some they knew, some Stan had to say who they were after they left. After a while, Stan would say the person's name while been greeted by them so the boys would know who they were. They felt overwhelmed by the number of people coming over to see them. 2 garcon de tables were looking after them, filling their glasses with water or wines, and a drink before the meal was served. They saw Alex coming over to talk to them. He was dressed in a Tux with a lots of jewelry. Behind him, Keith and Mark accompanied him. They were dressed in similar clothes and jewelry. "Hi Guys. You were a big success tonight. People are talking a lot about you all over," Alex said to them. He then started to make his round of hugs with each of them, with Keith and Mark. Keith didn't say much to Phill, besides being polite and courteous, the same with Robbie. "Thanks," many of them said in unison. "Uhm, Alex. Uhm, well, I was kind of rude to you before, and I wanted to say I am sorry, OK? We have all had a blast playing at your party, and we are all glad you invited us to play," Paul said. Alex just smiled at Paul, and said, "Apology accepted." He then looked to everyone else and asked, "Are you guys doing fine?" "Yeah, we are." Some of them replied. Alex, Mark and Keith took chairs and sat with them for a little while, chatting and telling them comments they heard from other guests. "Ok, here is the deal. Your CD should be out in a few weeks," Keith told them. "Yeah! We can't wait," Phill said. "We'll need more promo pictures. Lucky for us, a lot of photographers took a few tonight. Some will be in the trade papers tomorrow," Keith said "Already?" Asked Ed. "Of course," Alex said. "ET was here, too, and they took some stage footage for their show tomorrow," Keith add. "Oh, that's who they were," Tim said. "Yes, and you can count on us to launch you guys the same way when your CD is out," Mark said to them. Stan saw a tall women, her hair perfectly done, dressed in a long evening gown, wearing a lot of diamonds and sapphires. She looked like Alex's mother, and when she got to their table, she greeted Phill first, since she already had met him in London. "How are you doing? Are you enjoying yourselves, gentleman?" She asked. "Yes we are. I'm Stan, and you must be Alex's mother," Stan said to her as she shakes his hand. "Yes I am. Pleased to meet you Stan, call me Antoinette. We have heard a lot about you and your extended family." she said, standing next to him. They talk for a little while, then the Butler came over to talk to her and then she said towards Alex, Mark and Keith, "We need to go to our table, guys, the meal is going to be served now." "Yes Mom, Ok," Alex said, getting up with Keith and Mark. "Hope to see you mingle with the people later on. Good evening and enjoy your meal," she said, as she left with the three of them behind her. They saw a large number of people coming out, all dressed in white vests similar to their garcon de table, walking around both tents with trays up in the air. When they recognized their own, they noticed two small folding tables were near their table to rest the tray on them. Then they start placing their first course, which was a Vichychoise, while a wine Master was serving them wine or water. "Hey, it's cold," said Ed. "Yes, it is served cold, Vichychoise always is," their garcon told them. "Ok, thanks," Ed replied, looking at the other guys, and making a funny face. They ate their soup and then after taking their plates off, another course was served, which was a stuffed pastry shell with wild mushrooms and asparagus in a velvet sauce. They ate all of it, and they were serve four more courses until dessert was brought out. The whole room was dimmed down to just the votive candles, and all the garcon de tables came back in a long line, carrying trays with a flaming dessert, sending a soft glow of tiny blue flames as they walked to their respective table. Dessert was a big success and Dom Perignon Fine Champagne 1989 was served to those allowed at their tables. After their meal, they were offered some coffee, from a regular ones to flambe ones. Stan ordered a Russian one and was delighted from it's taste, although a bit strong. "What is it made with, please?" He asked their garcon de table. "Vodka, Grand Marnier, Tia Maria, coffee, topped with whipped cream, then we flambe with Cognac, Sir," he replied. "No wonder it tasted so good, thanks," Stan said, and a few of guys wished to taste it, but he denied them because of the high content of alcohol. After the meal their table was cleaned and made ready for the evening dancing, and mingling. Many of them got up to walk outside. "I thought they never would stop feeding us. I'm so full, I can hardly walk," Paul said to Jimmy. "Yeah, us too." Some of them said in chorus. "And you thought they treated us badly when we first came in here, huh?" Jimmy said towards Paul. "Boy, was I wrong. These people are so nice toward us," Paul replied, looking at Jimmy, who kisses him on his lips softly. "Hey, don't," Paul said, blushing deep red from embarrassment. "Why not? Look over there, isn't it GM kissing his lover, so no need to worry," Jimmy said smiling. "Who, where, oh yeah, he is a singer right?" Paul said, talking Jimmy's hand in his as he started walking around the garden with the guys walking behind them, Phill and Robbie holding hands too. "Yep, he is," Jimmy said, walking toward the stage but rather in the back of it so they could see the view of the city below. They saw many people talking and admiring the fountains with their many water jets cascading with intricate patterns. Just then, Tim, Tom, and Zac came walking up. "Stan, Zac has asked us to spend the night with him in his suite. Can we? Please?" Tim begged. "I don't know. Are you sure it is all right?" I asked. "Yes, sir. I asked and it is fine. We could drop them off at your house tomorrow afternoon, if it all right with you," Zac said. "OK, that is fine. When should we expect you?" I asked. "Probably around 1 or 2. We will call first to make sure the time is fine with you. Is that all right?" Zac asked. "Yeah, that is fine. You guys have a great time, and don't stay up too late," I answered. "We won't," Tim said. "Bye." And they were gone, running like the 13 and 14 year old boys that they were. We continued to wal;k around the gardens. When we reached the balustrade to look down at the city, we saw two gazebos, one closer to them, so we went to sit there. "I think I'm dreaming, someone pinch me please," Isaiah said. "OUCH" he said out loud when Ed pinched him. "Why did you do that?" Isaiah said, looking at him. "You asked for it, and I thought I was dreaming, too," Ed replied, laughing and kissing his lips softly. "Mmmmmm, nice," Isaiah said. Phill and Robbie were in the corner, looking at each other, lost in their thoughts. Matt and Mike were too, many of the boys were doing the same in couple or in groups. Stan was alone near the balustrade looking at the city and thinking this is getting out of control. We've been asked to tour with this band as opening act. Matt and Mike went to talk with him to discuss this offer they just received and wish to talk about it further with Stan about the band's future. After they talk for a while they saw Alex, Mark and Keith coming over to join them near the balustrade. They were holding hands together, looking rather very happy. "Hi Guys, great party isn't it?" Alex said to Stan. "Yes it is, nice setting, too," Stan replied. "Thanks, it's our life. We are used to these parties and receptions," Keith said, taking Mark by the waist. "Would you guys like to join us back in the tent for some dancing and getting our bodies some well deserved exercise after this meal?" Mark said toward them. "Yeah, let's go, guys," Matt said, talking hold of Keith's hand, who looked at him and smiled. They went back inside to dance to the DJ music. They didn't dance much when the orchestra was playing, since this was more traditional, but Alex, Mark and Keith did, for they danced very well and been taught how to. The evening lasted quite long and around 1 am, the guys were starting to get tired, so Stan suggested that they go back to their suite, grab their things, and leave for their hotel for the night. They found Alex, Mark and Keith and said their good nights and after hugs an kisses they left to go back to their suite. No one wished to change clothes. They were pretty tired anyway, so when they walked back inside their suite in Alex's house, their Valet Jorge and their maids were waiting for them to help them out. Both cars were asked to be ready at the front door for them and the maids grabbed most of their luggage and followed them. While going down, they saw a whole row of limousines or luxury cars lined on one side of the road. They knew it was the cars of the other guests. They reached their hotel and they had a few blink when they entered the Beverly Hills Hotel hallway, but after a few moments of surprise, they were showed to their suite by a garcon d'etage and they were all getting undressed and ready to go to bed in this double suite linked together by double doors. They didn't notice the decor and nothing else. It was 2 AM by now, and they were totally exhausted by this long day that was full of excitement. Comments can be sent to me at fsw99@mindspring.com.
