Parker and Luke

Chapter 4

By the time Luke finishes reading the letter, both anger and sadness are
going through his mind and he's not sure which is the dominant feeling. He
stretches out of the bed and sadness takes over as he cries all night.

Peter took all Parker's crying he could stand so after a week he said, "Look
Parker, I don't know what's going on between you and Luke but it's high time
you two worked it out. I'm losing sleep and my grades are beginning to
suffer. I need you to move back into your room with Luke. Maybe this way you
guys can work this out between yourselves."

Parker was beside himself. He couldn't believe what he just heard. He said,
"Peter, I can't move back in with him. He doesn't want me in there with
him."

"To bad," Peter said. "You guys are just going to have to get along or make
up. I don't care which."

Parker knew he was defeated so he began to pack his things. He still had his
key so he moved his things on hangers back into his old closet. He was just
about to bring his other things into the room when a voice called out
saying, "Just what the hell do you think you're doing?'

Parker recognized the voice and he said, "Peter said I had to move back into
our room."

"Like hell," Luke said. "I'll move in with him but I'm not sharing a room
with you."

"The hell you are," a voice shouted from behind Luke. "You two guys are
going to have to work this out between yourselves. You've been together here
a long time and you need to work this out. You both have made mistakes here
and the sooner you see that, the sooner you'll be able to patch things up."

"Fine!" Luke shouted. "He can move back in here but there's nothing to patch
up. He made the mistake here so he has the work to make things right."

Peter glared at Luke and said, "And you think you have no work here? You are
totally innocent?"

"That's right," Luke said and walked back into the room.

Parker followed Luke into the room and said, "Look Luke, we need to talk
about this."

"Maybe," Luke said. "But not right now. I'll let you know when I'm ready to
talk."

The boys rearranged the room so they could study and not look at each other.
All this was very hard on Parker as he adored looking at his beautiful
boyfriend.

Luke began keeping to himself except when he was in the room to sleep.
Parker couldn't stand this any more so he began to look for Luke.

After third period, Parker was looking up and down the halls when suddenly
he felt a hand push him into the lockers. He felt a hand spin him around and
say, "I want to talk to you."

"Good," Parker says. "But not here as everyone is looking."

Luke stares at him and says, "Let them find out what kind of creep you
really are."

Those words cut through Parker like a knife. His eyes start to water when
Luke says, "When were you going to tell me about the letter?"

"What letter?" Parker screams.

"The letter that says how much he cares for you, how he hoped I wasn't your
boyfriend and your kiss."

Parker is standing there dumb founded with tears rolling down his face. He
couldn't believe Jason wrote him a letter and said all those things. After
he forced the kiss on him, Parker never wanted to see him again much less
want to be his boyfriend. He looked at Luke and said, "I never saw a
letter."

Luke started screaming again saying, "You kissed him! You bloody kissed
him!"

"It was a mistake Luke," Parker tried to say in between sobs.

Luke looked at him and said, "How do you mistakenly kiss someone? Tell me
Parker. I mean did you fall off the couch and because of your bloody ankle
his lips break your fall?"

"He kissed me!" Parker managed to scream.

"He kissed you?" Luke said. "Oh and you pulled away? What did you do to stop
him? I'll tell you what you did. You did nothing. You just went on and
swapped spit with him."

Both boys are crying at this point and the crowd is standing there
speechless. Luke continues talking saying, "Parker, I love you but,"

Parker goes to his knees and says, "No, please don't Luke. Please don't do
this."

Parker stands up and starts kissing Luke on his face, neck and lips. Luke
almost gives in to Parker's foreplay but he pushes him away and says, "No
Parker, No. You just can't kiss me and expect me to forget what you did. You
can't kiss me and expect it to go away. It's over Parker. It's over."

Parker looks at Luke and says, "You know if this was the other way around,
there is nothing that could ever make me leave you. Nothing, Luke."

Luke turns around with tears in his eyes and says, "Well that's what makes
us different. See, I would never cheat on you."

Luke then turns and walks away crying as Parker fell on the floor sobbing
uncontrollably. Before Luke is out of sight Parker sits up and shouts, "Just
so you know Luke, his kiss meant nothing to me. I didn't feel a thing like I
do from your kisses."

Luke ignored Parker's words and headed off to his next class. He was just
about to enter his classroom when Peter stopped him. Luke looked up at the
senior and he could tell he wasn't happy. He tried to walk past the boy when
Peter took him by the arm and said, "I told you Luke, you both have made
mistakes here. You think you are totally innocent but you're not and here's
why. You found a letter addressed to Parker on the ground outside the door
of the bus. Did you give it to him to read on his own or wait to give it to
him when the both of you were alone? No! You decided to read it alone and
then cast judgment on Parker without giving him any chance to explain. He
tried today but you just interrupted him then totally ignored his answers.
Luke, that makes you just as wrong as Parker. If I were you, I would get my
shit together, find Parker and the two of you sit down and work this out. I
know you still love him. I saw that today and it's obvious he still loves
you too."

Luke glared at the older boy then turned and went into class. Just after
Luke went inside, Parker went in and took his seat. The history teacher had
a class project for everyone and he had paired Luke and Parker together.
They were the two brightest kids in his class and he wanted to see what they
could do together. Neither boy was happy with this so they were each
assigned other partners.

After class Peter found Parker and lit into him like he did Luke. He
cornered Parker and said, "I have a few words for you now my friend. I
chewed out Luke earlier for his mistakes, now it's your turn. Why in hell
did you allow that kid to kiss you? I know you were injured but did you
really have to lay there and accept all he did? Why didn't you push him off
and tell him to leave you alone? It does make me wonder weather or not you
enjoyed the kiss."

"Screw you," Parker shouted. "I felt nothing from it and you know it."

"Do I," Peter said looking at Parker with a defiant stare. "From what I can
tell, Luke was right in thinking you really didn't do enough to stop this
kids advances. And for that, you were wrong. You both need to talk and work
this out before it's too late. I have just one question for you Parker. Do
you really love Luke?"

"Of course I do," Parker said with tears streaming down his face. "I love
him more than life itself. He's my reason for getting up every morning and
living each day. I feel like that my heart has been ripped from my body."

Peter finished telling off Parker and went about his business. Later that
day, Parker saw Luke go into the room of another boy and try as he might, he
couldn't control the rage he was feeling. Parker goes over to the door and
starts banging on it. The startled kid opens the door and Parker starts
hitting him.

Luke sees this and separates the two boys saying, "Parker, what the hell are
you doing?"

"What am I doing?" He yells. "What are you doing in here with him?"

Luke glares at Parker and says, "This is my partner for the history project.
I don't owe you any explanation Parker. Now leave us alone so we can get our
work done."

Parker realizes he really stuck his foot in his mouth so he sulked back to
his room. He slams the door shut and lies on his bed trying to figure out
how he and Luke can talk so they can resolve this problem. All he knows is
that he's totally miserable and he can't concentrate on anything.

The next day, Steven, Luke and he are in Science class when he finally
decided he just has to talk with Luke. He looks over to Steven and says,
"Steven, how can I approach Luke so we can talk?"

Steven ignores his question and glares at him. So Parker decides to take the
bull by the horns and decided he just has to talk with Luke.

Hearing this breaks Luke from his thoughts. He has a secret that he's been
keeping from Parker. When he was home over the Christmas holidays, he met
the head of a gifted and talented school back in England. He had decided he
was going to turn it down because he didn't want to be away from the love of
his life. Now, however, he is giving this some very serious consideration.

Luke goes to a pay phone and calls Mr. Chimes, the head of the school. Luke
gets the headmaster's answering machine. Parker hides so he can hear what
Luke is saying. He hears Luke say, "Hi Mr. Chimes. It's me Luke. Remember we
met a while back and you gave me your card to call you on weather I would
change my mind or not about going to your school? Well, I've changed my mind
and I would really like an application to attend your school. Please send it
to me as quickly as you can. Thanks. Bye."

As Luke hangs up the phone, he starts to get tears in his eyes because he
realizes he and Parker are no longer boyfriends. Luke sees Parker crying and
he just shakes his head and returns to his seat to finish his work. Steven
sees him upset and tries to console him. Parker sees this and he grabs his
books and runs from the class.

The next day, Luke receives a call from Mr. Chimes telling him he doesn't
need an application and he can go directly to the school and apply when he
arrives. He had already talked with his parents about this and since Luke is
sure that this is what he wants, it's fine with them. The next day Luke
announces to all his teachers that this will be his last day as he has been
accepted at another school back in England. He will need the next day to
pack his things and get ready for the trip. Parker got upset again as he
hears Luke tell the teachers of his decision to leave and he runs from the
class.

Parker can't believe Luke is really going to leave and end their
relationship without even trying to work things out. He stays in his hiding
place until after dinner then quietly slips into his room. Parker sees
Luke's things packed sitting in the corner so with tears falling from his
eyes, he crawls into bed.

He faces away from Luke so he won't wake him with his crying while he tries
to think. `I know I was a real jerk on the trip and I should have told Luke
that afternoon what happened. I was just so scared that he would over react
that I decided to keep things quiet. I can't stand the fact he's leaving me.
God how I've really fucked up here and if I ever get another chance, I will
be totally open and honest with him even if he yells and screams at me.'

Parker was trying to continue thinking when he heard a voice whisper,
"Please God, I hope you're listening because I really need you now. I know
I've not come to you as often as I should mainly because I thought you were
mad at me for my choice of who I love. I know that really doesn't bother you
so I'm here now begging for your help. You see, Parker and I had a big fight
over something I see now as rather silly but you know I've been cheated on
before so the kiss he got really upset me big time. Please God, watch over
him and keep him safe and please, please help me to stop loving him. Yes
God, I do still love him so very much but I need to move on and I can't as
long as I have these feelings for him."

A now crying Parker couldn't believe what he had just heard. Luke still
loved him and he knew now was the time for them to talk. He quietly got out
of bed to go to Luke but he needed to take a leak first. He quickly relieved
himself and then sits down beside Luke on him bed. He tries to talk with him
but discovers Luke has fallen asleep. Parker can't stand not being with his
love so he slips into bed with Luke and puts his head on his chest and
drifts off to sleep.

The next thing Parker hears is Luke screaming at him. "What the hell do you
think you're doing sleeping in here with me? You know damn good and well
we're not boyfriends any more so you don't have the right to come in here
with me especially without my permission."

Luke gets up and grabs his last bag so he can finish packing all his last
minute items. Parker can't believe what he is seeing and he says, "Luke
please don't leave, I beg you. I know you still love me because I heard you
praying last night. I wasn't trying to listen in on you but I was still
awake. I tried to talk with you but you had already fallen asleep. I guess
that's why I crawled into bed with you because I knew you did still love me.
I do love you Luke and I always will. I wish I had known about your other
boyfriend and what he did to you. I'm so sorry that happened but I can't
change that. All I can do is promise never to keep things from you again.
Since I know about your other boyfriend, I think you should know I had one
too but that didn't last all that long. He found someone he thought was
smarter and better looking so he broke up with me."

Luke looked at Parker when he heard his mention him praying. "I wasn't
praying, Luke said looking Parker. I don't know what you thought you heard
but it wasn't that. Now if you don't mind, I have work to do and you have
class."

Parker tries one more time to talk with Luke but he turns his back on him so
he leaves. Parker knows that if he don't go to class today he risks being
expelled.

This was the hardest day Parker ever had to endure. Luke was leaving and try
as he might, he just couldn't get him to talk. After lunch he saw Steven
alone so he went up to him and said, "I know you're still pissed at me and I
really don't care. I just need to know how I can get through to Luke before
he leaves."

"You're right," Steven snaps back to Parker. "I am still very pissed at you
and personally I think Luke can do better. I don't agree with him for not
trying to talk with you before he leaves and I have tried many times to
convince him of that but he just won't listen. Maybe you should just give
him some time away and he will come around. You both have to much invested
in this relationship to have it end just like that."

As much as Parker hated what Steven just told him, it did make sense. He
hoped with all his heart that Steven was right and Luke would come around
and realize they threw a lot away. Parker looked at his watch and saw it was
getting late. He wanted to see Luke one last time just so he could say good
bye and wish him well.

Parker ran back to the dorms and down the halls risking a detention for
breaking one of their main rules. He didn't care because Luke was all that
mattered. He unlocked the door and got the shock of his life. Luke's bed was
stripped of all its linen, his closet was empty and his bags were gone.
Tears are running down his face when he hears the outside door clash shut.
He looks out the window
and sees a driver putting Luke's things into the back of a big black car.

Parker runs down the stairs trying to catch his love before he leaves. He
opens the door and shouts, "Luke! Luke, please don't leave yet. I need to
talk with you. Please wait!"

Luke hears Parker's screams and decides to let him have his say. Parker runs
up to him and throws his arms around Luke one last time. Luke allows this
for several minutes then pushes him off saying, "What is it you have to say.
I have a plane to catch."

Through tears and wracked emotions Parker says, "Luke, please believe me
when I say I never meant to hurt you. I don't know why I acted the way I did
on the trip but he didn't mean anything to me. I love you and only you and
always will. No one can take your place in my heart and I hope one day we
can be together again. Maybe this summer we can talk and try to rebuild what
we had. We both made some big mistakes and I will do anything to correct
them. I want you to also know that no one will ever take your bed. It's
yours if you want to come back. Please take care of yourself and do well.
You're a smart kid and you deserve the best life has to offer. I love you
Luke McAllister."

Parker went over to Luke one last time and gave him a short kiss on the
cheek and a hug. Luke accepted it and even returned it with a hugs and kiss
of his own. He looked at Parker and said, "Take care of yourself mate. I
know you haven't been attending classes the way you should so you better get
your arse in gear before you flunk out. You're a bright boy too and even
though I don't know why, I still love you also. I have to go now."

Parker held the door as Luke climbed into the car. By now tears were falling
from both boys' eyes when Parker finally closed the door. The driver started
the engine and pulled away from the dorm. Parker stood and watched as the
car fade into the distance. He was sobbing so hard he could hardly breathe.
He went back to his room and fell onto his bed and cried himself to sleep.

Parker turned into a recluse and stayed totally to himself. Several boys had
asked if they could share his room hoping to cheer him up but they were all
turned down.

The mid-term class party was schedules for Friday but as per the usual,
Parker decided to stay to himself. After everyone had left to go to the
party, he made his way down to the common area. He sat down on the sofa and
let his mind wander to a time before he and Luke broke up.

He decides he can't put himself through that so he decided to see what's on
television. He finds a movie he likes so he decided to watch it hoping to
pass some time before the others return. He just got comfortable when he
heard the wind change direction and rain began to enter to room.

He sat back down on the sofa when he heard a knock on the main door. He
didn't know who that could be nor why they didn't just come on inside. At
first he hoped it was Peter as he really needed to sit down and have a long
talk with him. He got up and when he opened the door, there stood a totally
drenched Luke.

They stood there staring at each other for what seemed like several minutes
when Parker pulled him into his arms saying, "Luke! Luke, it's really you. I
can't believe it! You came back."

Luke hugs him back saying, "Parker, I just couldn't live without you any
more. I guess the reason I didn't miss you when I was here was because you
were always in the bed right next to me and I could see you. Leaving was one
of the biggest mistakes I ever made and I'm so sorry over the way I acted.
Reading that letter and finding out that you kissed another guy hurt me so
much I felt like my heart was ripped out."

"Oh Luke," Parker said. "I'm sorry about the way I acted too. I wish I had
known about your first boyfriend and how he treated you. I would have never
kept that a secret from you. I was caught totally off guard when that kid
kissed me that I didn't know really what to do. It was just a few seconds
but that's no excuse for not coming and telling you what happened."

Luke kisses Parker gently on the lips and says, "Please Parker, can you ever
forgive me?"

Parker kisses him passionately on the lips and says, "What do you think?"

Luke pulls back and looks at his boyfriend then leans in kissing him then
says, "Tell me lover, what do you think?"

Parker smiles at him and says, "I'll take that as a yes. Now, do you think
the school will take you back after your quick exit?"

Luke smiles at him and says, "That's all been taken care of baby. I'm not
leaving here ever again. Well, except when we graduate. Speaking of that,
I'm glad tomorrow is Saturday because you and I have a lot of work to do to
get your grades back up to where they are supposed to be."

Parker hangs his head and says, "I know baby. Now that you're back I have
all I need to want to bring them up."

Parker grabbed Luke's bags and helped him get settled back into their old
room. It took them an hour to rearrange things like it was before then they
went and took a nice long private shower before closing and locking the door
so they could make love together.
