The names are completely made up, and although I had previously stated the story is also made up, it is based on my own real life experiences with a few embellishments. And thank you Bob for your kind words and encouragement. I truly appreciate your belief and confidence in me as a new writer. It's nice to have a friend in the state where I was born, Colorado. I also want to express my special thanks to Wayne, author of Jimmy's Sleepover and Mike, author of Kevin Knows When, for being a friend and for encouraging me throughout this writing process. I have learned so much from each of you. Pete - Part Four The menu today isn't bad. It's pizza and it's pretty good for school cafeteria food. Just as I'm about to take a bite of my pizza, Kevin, whose is a real jerk and sitting across from us, says "Hey Bobby. I've been watching you. I know all about you." Now I'm wondering what exactly does Kevin think he knows about me, and I'm watching Pete as he has a strange look on his face as we're both listening to Kevin. "YOU like boys, don`t ya? Yeah Bobby, you want to suck my dick, don't ya?" says Kevin very sarcastically. Every one bursts into laughter, and I try to ignore him, but he keeps persisting and finally I tell him "Thank you for noticing" hoping that would shut him up, but it didn't. I'm getting worried about what Pete might think now, and Kevin says again "Come on Bobby. Suck my dick for me. I'll bet you suck real good dick." That's when I lost it and started crying. I couldn't help it. The tears just started to flow, and I was embarrassed that Pete might not ever want to talk to me again. Then Pete stood up, and I thought this is it. He's leaving, and he will never speak to me again. He thinks I'm gay and doesn't want to be my friend anymore. I've lost my very best friend forever, and I cried even harder. ************************ As Pete stood up, he put his arm around my shoulder "Come on Bobby. Let's get out of here. We don't need them" Pete said. I was relieved to learn that Pete wasn't pissed at me. All I could think about after Kevin started with his shit was that Pete would begin to hate me, and I didn't want that. As I got up, Kevin said in a kind of baby talk sarcasm "Aww looky at the gay boy and his little queer boyfriend. Isn't that special. Why don't you let me put my dick up your ass, Bobby boy? You'll feel lots better after I fuck your ass." Every one at the table burst into more laughter, laughing harder than the first time. "FUCK YOU, KEVIN, YOU GODDAMN, FUCKING, ASSHOLE!!! JUST SHUT YOUR FUCKING MOUTH!!! I'LL STICK THIS UP YOUR OWN GODDAMN ASS, YOU FUCKING PUSSY!!!!!" Pete yelled in RAGE at Kevin while raising his arm in the Italian symbol that means "F" - Off, using his right arm raised up, bent at the elbow in a 90 degree angle and his left arm crossing his right arm behind the elbow, and his middle finger pointing straight up. The laughter stopped and silence came over the entire cafeteria as everyone in the whole room heard what Pete had said. It was so quiet you could hear a pin drop, and everyone in the building was silently watching Pete. Pete walked around to the other side of the table where Kevin was sitting. You could see Pete was still filled with RAGE as he got in Kevin's face "I DON'T CARE IF BOBBY IS GAY OR NOT OR WHAT HE IS. HE'S STILL MY BEST FRIEND!!! AND IF YOU EVER SAY ANYTHING LIKE THAT TO BOBBY AGAIN, I'LL KICK YOUR LITTLE PUSSY SELF THROUGH THE GODDAMN WALL - GOT IT?" Kevin never answered. He never said another word. No one spoke. Kevin and everyone looked shocked. Pete walked back over to me and put his arm around me "Let's get out of here, Bobby. We don`t need any of this shit" Pete said. We left the cafeteria and found a place behind the portable classrooms so we could be alone, away from everyone else. I was still in shock from what happened in the cafeteria. This was the first time I saw Pete angry. Why was he so angry, I thought, since Kevin was poking fun at me and not Pete? Pete has always been so quiet and sweet acting when I'm with him. This time I saw a different side of Pete, and I liked it! I was turned on by his strength and forcefulness! Pete then put his arms around me, and gave me a hug, holding me close to him. I felt so safe in Pete's arms, and I wanted to stay that way forever. Pete brushed his fingers through my hair on the side just over my left ear, and then held his hand against the back of my head, holding my head against his chest as he continued to softly run his fingers through my hair. I could hear his heart racing from all the anger he felt toward Kevin. "Are you ok, Bobby?" Pete asked in a much softer tone. He had calmed down considerably than he had been a few minutes ago in the cafeteria. As I looked up into his beautiful brown eyes, I could see a bit of concern was on Pete's face, but he was trying to cover it up by acting his usual sweet happy self. "Yeah I'm ok. Thanks" I said even though I was still a little shaken from what had happened. "Don't let that asshole get to you, Bobby. He's a jerk and who needs him" Pete said. About that time Pete looked at his watch and it was almost noon, which meant lunch time was over and it was time for 5th period shop class. And I still hadn't looked at my notes for today's quiz. Pete and I walked together to the shop for fifth period. Just before we walk in, Pete says "If that jerk says anything to you, let me know, ok?" I looked him in his beautiful brown eyes once again which I could see was full of concern and caring. "It's ok. I can handle Kevin. I knew him from eighth grade last year when we were at Crystal Key Middle School. He was a jerk then, and he still is one" I said. "Hey I'm your best friend. That's what I'm here for is to look after you. Remember when I promised I would be your best friend in the whole world forever?" Pete said. We both started a little chuckle after he said that, and then we went inside the shop to get started. As we headed over to our table, I could see Rick and David were whispering about something. David looked up at me and they stopped talking. Pete took his seat and I took mine across from Pete. David looked at me, but said nothing. Then Rick spoke up "Hey Pete, I heard you got in a fight during lunch last period? What happened?" I could tell Pete didn't want to talk about it. "Oh yeah? What did you hear?" Pete replied in a somewhat sarcastic tone. "Just that you and ...... "Take everything off your tables except for one plain, white sheet of notebook paper and one pencil. The quiz begins now" blurts out Mr. Kernan. Pete was saved by Mr. Kernan's command, so he can at least postpone any further comments about Kevin and what happened last hour in the cafeteria. I was a little nervous about the quiz since I had not studied my notes. However, once we got started, I didn't feel so bad about it since the quiz was only ten questions and I remembered everything from the lecture the day before, so I lucked out on this one. After we finished, Pete and I exchanged our papers, and Rick and David exchanged their papers, then Mr. Kernan gave us the correct answers while we graded each other`s papers. Pete and I both got a 100 on our quiz - YES!!! Rick got a 90 and David got an 80, but everyone at our table passed. After we handed in our papers to Mr. Kernan so he could record our grade, he began with a lecture about the beginning of Modern American Industry and how the concept of the first American factories were introduced to American culture. This was BORING, but I knew that soon the hour would be over, and I would be on my way to my sixth period class, which was my last class for the day. I was looking forward to meeting up with Pete after school and going over to visit Mega Rock 105. About that time the bell rings - YAY!!! 5th period is over. Now I'm off to Biology, my last class for the day. I tell Pete "Hey man, meet me in front of the auditorium after class, and we can go to your dads radio station from there. Sound cool?" Pete just smiles and looks much happier and says "Cool." My last class seemed to go by so slow as I was wanting to get out of school and spend the rest of the day with Pete. Today Miss Lytt, our biology teacher, who had never taught school before this year, was giving a lecture on the anatomical cell formation. Yeah, right, like I'll ever use this useful information in my lifetime. "Listen up class. Can anyone tell me the three basic parts of a cell?" Ask Miss Lytt. That's when Leanne Rodgers raised her hand "I know" she said. Leanne was Miss Lytts favorite student, and this was only the second day of school, but everyone knew from the start that Leanne had it made in Miss Lytt's class. "Yes, Leanne. Tell the class what three basic parts make up a cell" instructs Miss Lytt. I hold my head back and role my eyes in agony as Leanne begins her description of a cell. "It's the cell body, the nucleus and cytoplasm, Miss Lytt" Leanne explains to everyone who couldn't have cared less. "That's right Leanne. Thank you for that explicit explanation. I wish all my students were as dedicated to learning as you are, Leanne" replied Miss Lytt. Oh my God will this day ever end, I'm thinking. Then the teacher begins a lecture on basic chemistry and the makeup of the atom, and how it is the bases for all life forms. We spend the remaining class time listening to Miss Lytt and Leanne go back and forth with questions and answers about all this useless stuff that no one will ever use in real life. Suddenly the bell rings. COOL!!! School is out for the day. Now I can go wait for Pete in front of the auditorium. I grab everything and head out the door. I run through the halls, trying to make it to the auditorium before Pete. As I'm running, I pass Coach Kepter. He was our dean of boys, but everyone called him coach because he used to be the head football coach before he became dean. "Hold on there, Bobby. You know it's against the rules to run in the halls. What's your hurry?" coach Kepter asked. "I'm sorry, coach. Guess I wasn't thinking. Just glad that school is out and I have something to do after school" I explained. "We all have things to do, Bobby, but not at the risk of falling and hurting yourself or someone else. Slow down. Next time I catch you running in the halls, it will be detention for you. Do you understand, Bobby?" He asked. "Yes sir" I replied. You can go now" coach Kepter said. Since school was out, I think coach didn't want to get into anything that would take up very much time, and that's why he let me go with only a warning. After that, I walked out of the science building and headed for the auditorium and made it before Pete. As I'm standing there waiting, I'm noticing everyone else as they walk by. Some of the kids are getting on the buses, while others are standing around bullshitting. Some of the older kids who had their drivers license and their cars were heading for the student parking area and hanging out listening to their jamz, while others were leaving. I'm standing there alone just thinking about spending the afternoon with my best friend. As I'm daydreaming about my fantasies, I hear Pete from behind "Hey Bobby, what's up dude?" jolting me out of my moment of thought. I turn around and there's Pete, still wearing his gym clothes from his last period P. E. class. "Not much dude. How was class?" I ask. "It was ok I guess" Pete answers as he takes off his gym t-shirt, exposing his sexy smooth chest once again. The same chest that only two hours ago Pete was holding my head against while he was comforting me. Pete takes his shirt and wipes the sweat off his face. It must have been a very hot day out on the field as sweat was beading up on his face, his arms, his sexy chest and his legs. This was the first time I saw Pete's legs, never seeing him in his shorts before now. He has the sexiest legs I've ever seen. "Hey I need to get a clean shirt from my locker, then we can go, ok?" Pete says. I said ok, and we went to Pete's locker as he got a clean shirt, put it on, and off we went to Mega Rock 105. It didn't take us very long to walk to the radio since it was only a few blocks from school. As we walked along, we talked about everything we did all day. Except we didn't bring up Kevin. We just talked about everything else. We arrive at the station and walk in through the front door. I hear the Beastie Boys, Sabotage playing on the monitors inside the building. Pete asks the receptionist "Hi Kathy, is my dad in? This is my best friend, Bobby. My dad and me are showing him around today." Kathy says hi to me then answers Pete "He's in his office. I'll page him." While we're waiting for Frank, Sr. to come out and meet us, an older song by the Smithereens called "A Girl Like You" comes on the monitors. As I was listening to it, I changed the words around in my head just a little. Instead of singing "I'll do anything I have to do, just to win the love of a girl like you," I changed girl to boy, so I was singing silently in my head "I'll do anything I have to do, just to win the love of a boy like you" as I'm looking right at Pete. It's a good thing Pete can't read my mind, or I would have been cold busted. Then Pete's dad walks in and greets us. He was wearing shined leather shoes, a gold bracelet and a custom tailored business suit. His dad looked very handsome and very professional. As I was looking at his dad, I began wondering "Is this how Pete will look when he gets older?" "Hi there Bobby, Pete. Glad you could make it. How was school today? he asks. "It was ok, dad" Pete replies. After that, Frank, Sr. motions for us to follow him down the hallway. As we are walking I stop and notice a photo on the wall. "Hey Pete. Here's a pic of you with long hair talking with these dudes." The pic looked very old and Pete looked older than 14 in the pic, but not much older. Pete's dad began to laugh and said "That isn't Pete, Bobby. That was me a long time ago when I was a disc jockey at the BIG 740 AM in New York City. In that photo I was interviewing the band members of the Moon Beams live on the air. They were very popular back in the 70s. I was the first disc jockey in the country to play their hit "I Dig That Groovy Thing." When the song went gold, I was given that gold record you see hanging on the wall next to the photo." Just then we hear Pete's dad being paged "Frank Vinelli, phone call on line 2." "Wait here boys. I'll be right back" Frank, Sr. says. Pete and I walk a little further down the hall and stop in front of the conference room. The door was open and it looked like someone was holding a meeting in there. We overheard them talking about the ratings. The guy in charge of the meeting was telling everyone how well they did with the listeners. "Everyone did great" the guy said. He started talking to Missy, the night girl on Mega Rock. "Missy, you did excellent. The men love you. Keep it up. Here's something you'll be interested in Zombo" he said. I had never met Zombo before now, and it looked like I was going to meet him when he burst out "LOOK WHAT I'M DOING WITH TEENAGE BOYS?" as he looks at the paper with his ratings on it. Pete looked at me and said "Wonder what he's doing with them?" and we burst out laughing. Zombo heard us and looked embarrassed. "Hi guys, umm, sorry, uh, I didn't mean that the way it must have sounded" as he tries to hide his embarrassment. "It's ok" Pete and I both said, still snickering. After that, I noticed it was getting late and I needed to get home. Pete's dad came back and met with us, and I told him how much I enjoyed visiting the station and thanked him and Pete for letting me come over. I asked Pete if he would like to come over to my house for a few minutes before he headed home. He said sure, and we started out the door, and headed to my house. Pete seemed to be in a much happier mood now since he was smiling again. When we arrived at my house, I asked Pete "Hey you thirsty? You want anything? I got just about anything you want in the fridge." "Sure, man. Maybe some juice. It's kind of hot today" Pete said as I saw sweat dripping from his face after that long walk home in the hot sun. We finished our drinks and I had an idea. "Hey man, you feel like going out for a swim so we can cool off?" I asked. "I don't have any swim trunks with me" Pete replied. "That's ok, man. I have an extra pair" I answered. "Ok, sure" Pete said. We headed to my room to get the swim trunks and change our clothes for our swim. I looked through my dresser to find something for both of us to wear. "Here, Pete. Try these" I said. "Thanks" he said. I started taking off my clothes and Pete started undressing, too. Pete was only wearing his gym shorts and a t-shirt. When he took of his gym shorts, I could see he wasn't wearing any underwear. There he was. The boy of my dreams, standing in my room - NAKED!!! The End of Part Four That's the end of Part Four. I hope you like the way this story is transpiring so far.
