Chapter 9 - Beat

I've learned a lot of awesome feelings as I grew up. I knew it felt good when I got multiple stars during kindergarten. Or how it felt so wonderful to celebrate my birthdays and Christmases with so many presents waiting for me to be ripped open. Or how it felt so exhilarating when the roller-coaster went for a nose dive and I felt all my soul clinging helplessly to my adrenaline-filled body. And, even in the most subtle of ways, it sometimes felt so magnificent when my gut went all ticklish and turned inside-out with so many butterflies trying to rip it apart.

Felix Corbel caused that last feeling. It started when we were kids and now, another subtle touch caused that awesome feeling.

"I didn't think you'd like to cuddle so much."

"Yeah? Well...," I whispered, pulling Felix closer to my chest. "You're unexpectedly cuddly and warm."

He giggled and softly poked my chest.

"Don't start getting cheesy now, okay?"

I nodded and breathed in his mild scent. He smelled so good just after taking a shower.

"You sure your mom won't mind us sleeping in the same bed?"

"Don't worry about her," he said. "There's a reason why I moved into my sister's bedroom you know."

"What?"

He pointed toward the door and said, "I can lock it from the inside and mom doesn't have the key."

"And she has the key to your old room?"

"She has every key in this house except for this one."

"You hid the key from her?"

He shook his head, ruffling my shirt a little. "My sister did. I don't even know where it is."

I raised my brow and looked at him curiously. He just smiled and wordlessly shifted my thoughts to what lay under the blanket that covered both of us from the waist down.

"It's okay to get hard, Chase," he whispered. "It's normal."

"Yeah, but..."

"No buts," he quickly said as he put his finger against my lips. "Kids these days are soooo horny you know."

"That includes us?"

"That includes us."

I sighed, he giggled.

He shifted closer, pushed his thigh right between mine and made my semi-hard dick go full-hard. I felt my face warm up, but so did Felix's hold around me. Suddenly, it felt like we didn't need the blanket to fight the cold night. We were making our own temperature and it was...hot.

"I never thought you still wear briefs," he whispered.

"You wear them too, you know."

"Wanna see who's bigger?" he excitedly asked.

"Maybe," I answered.

He pushed himself up the bed, letting the blanket move further down his thighs and revealing the white elastic of his undies. His eyes were softly concentrated on mine.

"Oh, c'mon Chase," he said. "You should learn how to decide for yourself now."

"I should?"

"You should."

"What do you mean?"

He shifted on the bed again, almost kneeling to my side with the edge of the blanket in between his bum and his feet.

"When somebody wants to know who's bigger between the two of you," he started, "you don't just say maybe..."

"Huh?"

"It's either a yes or a no. Maybe means you're undecided. You're afraid."

"What if I am?"

He stared at me this time, paused before asking, "What if you're what?"

"Afraid," I whispered. "Or undecided."

"You've decided long ago," he pointed out. "And I know you're not afraid. You're just..."

"I'm just what?"

"Holding back."

I furrowed my brows and squinted my eyes at him. "Isn't that the same thing?"

He shook his head and said, "You're not afraid. You just don't know what to do."

"Then I'm undecided," I argued.

"Oh stop it Chase," he countered. "I know that you know what I mean. You've decided long ago. You know what you want to do and you've already acknowledged that goal. That takes courage. You just don't know how to get there and that's why you're holding back."

"You're saying..."

"All I'm saying is that you know who you are and what you want. Now pull yourself together and get there."

"Get where?"

He leaned over me and inched his face closer to mine. Our noses were almost touching and from this distance, even under the dim light, his face looked frighteningly angelic.

"Make me believe you."

"Okay," I mumbled, more like from how he almost rendered me with nothing else to say.

"--ve me..."

"Felix?" I worriedly asked, seeing his whole face disappearing before mine and his body getting lighter. "Felix! What's happening?"

"Get there, Chase," his vanishing voice whispered. "Just...get there."

Even while laying alone on his bed inside his locked bedroom and with him having disappeared completely, his fleeting touch on my chest left a resounding beat.

How could my dreams leave a tangible beating in my heart?
