"Quincy And That Unusual Friend Of His" Chapter 10 Quincy and Erik didn't stop running until they hit the creek. They then went into the water and started rapidly wading down stream until they got to the spot where the beavers were. The beavers were there but where all clustered on the opposite bank. They went to the tree and climbed up it until they were almost near the top. They finally paused and Quincy sat trying to catch his breath. "What are we going to do?" Erik said. "I don't know." Quincy panted. "We need to figure out a way to keep you out of the house until those people go away." "What's going to happen if they find me?" "Mom and Dad will probably move out of the house. They might get a priest or something to come and try to make you leave first, or maybe the pastor from our church." "What will the priest and the pastor do?" "I don't know, probably read out of the Bible and throw a bunch of holy water around." Quincy replied. "That would be OK. I like the Bible." Erik smiled. "What about the holy water? Won't that burn you or something?" Quincy asked. "Why would it burn me?" Erik said with a slightly hurt tone. "It doesn't matter. We need to make sure they don't find you." Quincy said. "I've watched that show before. They're probably going to set up a bunch of cameras and detectors and microphones and stay overnight. Then they'll put it on TV and we'll move and Dad will probably lose his next election over it and I'll be grounded!" "Well I think all of this totally stinks!" Erik said as he buried his head in his arms. Carol leaned out the back door and called for Quincy again. "Steve! We have to find him! He might be hurt!" she said after getting no response. "He'll be back. He won't stay out after dark, and if he was hurt you would have seen him in the yard." Steve said from the kitchen table. "That was a thirty foot drop, Steve!" "I don't blame him for jumping out that window and running away, he was probably scared to death by these flakes raiding his bedroom like a Cuban gestapo!" "And by you waving that gun around and punching someone out, Steve!" Carol said angrily. "Mr. and Mrs. Lenhardt! You have to come see this!" The bearded man yelled from the den. "Didn't I tell you all of you to leave?" Steve said angrily as he got up and went into the den. The Spook Stalkers had set up a monitor and were reviewing the tape they had just made. "Here, watch this!" The bearded man said as he grabbed Steve's shoulder. Carol stared wide eyed at the screen. The footage was from the kitchen. The camera man was panning around the room. "No, there's absolutely nothing anywhere that I'm getting. The readings just reflect regular background electromagnetic activity. I'm just not getting anything at all." The blond woman could be heard saying through the speaker. "Have you thought that maybe there's a common explanation to what you saw, Ma'am?" The bearded man said to Carol through the speaker. The door could then be heard opening in the laundry room as Quincy came in. "Here, right here!" The bearded man said while pointing towards the screen. On the screen the cameraman was panning around the den and the hallway. Carol and the other people could be heard garbled on the speakers. "Quincy, what happened? You're all scratched up and soaking wet!" "I fell into a sticker bush at the creek." "Whoa! The readings just went off the chart!" "Oh my God, It's right here in the room!" On the tape, the cameraman then pivoted around, came into the room and Quincy came onto the screen. Steve and Carol both gasped. The bearded man immediately paused the recording and everyone stared amazed at the screen. Quincy was covered in a field of faint, fuzzy, greenish light. Carol thought it looked like what Dr. Singh had described seeing in the window. It enveloped him head to toe. "Oh my God! Do you see that?" She loudly whispered. "Watch this." The bearded man said as he started the recording back up. "Mom, Dad, what's going on?" The light then detached itself from Quincy and was now right next to him, taking on the shape of an orb about the size of a large beach ball, and floating at eye level. "What's going on is that I object to all of this!" "We're getting readings off the charts right where the boy is standing!" They then watched as Quincy turned his head towards the light, which then disappeared. The bearded man paused the recording again. "Right there! He KNOWS it was there! He's made contact!" Steve turned to the man and the woman. "Well I praise you for your exceptional abilities at special effects. Now if you'll kindly leave my house." "Those aren't special effects." The camera man, who was a burly bearded man, said. "This is raw footage shot minutes ago. I shot it myself. It would take at least an hour of optical processing to achieve that effect if I did put that there." "Bullshit! You can superimpose an image with a computer in seconds! Don't patronize me!" "I assure you that this is real, as one Marine to another." The camera man said to Steve. "I've seen your show before. I think that you people are quite deft at producing special effects!" Steve said. "Sir, everything that you see on our show is real!" The bearded man said, "Steve, that is EXACTLY what Dr. Singh saw in Quincy's window!" Carol shouted. "What's that character doing looking into Quincy's window!" Steve yelled. "Steve, stop YELLING!" Carol hissed. "Sir! Ma'am! We have to find your son! We have to calm him down and let him start to trust us, then we need to find out what he knows about this apparition. I think it's very clear that he has been in contact with it, possibly for some time!" "I've been an EMS paramedic." The blond woman said. "There is no way that your son could have run off after that jump. He would have broken both of his legs, at least. I think that we have to consider that the entity somehow assisted him in leaving the house." "Does anybody, ANYBODY realize how ridiculous all of this sounds?" Steve said. "Steve, we have to find Quincy!" Carol said. "Mr. Lenhardt, you MUST give us the 24 hours we were promised. We'll set up our sensors and our cameras. We should have no trouble spotting the apparition. If we can get your son to talk to it, we might be able to find out why it's here, and what it wants." The bearded man said. "Mrs. Lenhardt, you mentioned that according to your landlady, the previous tenants here have seen a boy? And that a boy with a similar appearance was killed in front of this house?" The blond woman asked. "Yes." Carol said. "Our landlady is a total flake!" Steve said. "To put any value on anything that woman says..." "Do you suppose, assuming that this entity is the little boy who died here, that your son might have befriended him, and is trying to protect him?" The blond woman asked. Steve burst into laughter. "I can't believe that I'm actually hearing this from you people! This sounds like a bad science fiction story that some perverted guy who lives in his mother's basement would come up with!" "It's not without precedent. There was the Prague sighting in 1990." The camera man said. "Yes! Prague! That was that little girl who could be heard having conversations with herself, and a neighbor had seen her on a see saw that was moving by itself. When she was asked about it, she said that it was the little girl who lived in the house." The blond woman said. "Also, those twins in London in the early 1900's who were apparently playing games behind their house with an invisible teen aged girl they said they had met. Both of those manifestations also had paranormal phenomenon associated with them, similar to what Mrs. Lenhardt described happening here." The cameraman said. "Please. We must be allowed to study this. Just give us one night, please!" The bearded man plead to Steve. Steve scowled, looked down at the ground, and looked back up. "You promise not to reveal on your show who lives in this house, and not show or mention me or my family members?" "We have that promise in writing." The bearded man said. Steve looked at Carol, and then at the Spook Stalkers, and nodded reluctantly. "Come on, let's get set up." The camera man said. "Steve...I didn't know that it was a TV show... " Carol began. "Excuse me, I have to go find my son!" Steve said without looking at her as he went to get his car keys. Quincy looked over at Erik and noticed that he was starting to look upset, agitated, and unwell. They were still up in the tree, and had been for a couple of hours, chattering away the whole time about movies they had seen and about sports. Erik had suddenly gone silent. He had dark circles under his eyes, and he looked dizzy. The sun was starting to set, and a reddish, dusky light was starting to spread over the scene. Quincy looked down and noticed that the beavers were all gone. Erik was hunched over on his tree branch and was starting to look irritated and anxious. "Erik, what's wrong?" "Quincy, I have to get back to the house. I've been gone from it for too long." "But those people might still be there." "I don't care! Please, Quincy. I need to get back!" Quincy sighed. "OK, we'll go back to the house." Erik vanished and Quincy began to climb down. "Quincy, jump!" Erik said from the bottom of the tree. Quincy jumped and began to lower towards the ground like a feather. He landed and he and Erik began walking back towards the path. When they got to behind the shed, Quincy looked around to see if Mr. Williams was there. He didn't see him, and he and Erik started walking across the yard. He then heard footsteps racing behind him and felt a hand grab his shoulder. He spun around startled, and Quincy gasped as he saw Mr. Williams' bespectacled face and bald head filling his vision. He had apparently been sitting on a lawn chair by the shed . Quincy could smell sweat and cigarette smoke on him. "Come on!" Mr. Williams said as he dragged Quincy towards his back door. "Mr. Williams...I was just taking a shortcut to the creek! Please, I won't..." "Wait here!" Mr. Williams said as he went into his basement. He looked over at Erik who was standing next to him. He was about to run when Mr. Williams came out with a silver, cylindrical electrical appliance that looked about three feet high and had it's cord wrapped around it.. "Quincy, this is an ionic air purifier. Take this and plug it into an outlet somewhere in your garage where it can't be easily seen. Have Erik stand in front of it,..." "What?" Quincy and Erik both said together. "...they won't be able to detect him with their instruments or cameras as long as he stands right in front of this screen here." He then slapped the black wire mesh screen in the front of the device for emphasis. "Mr. Williams, how...?" "Go, Quincy! Go! Your parents have already been past here twice looking for you! Go! Don't forget to plug it in!" Mr. Williams said as he placed the purifier into Quincy's arms. Quincy and Erik immediately ran to the gate. Quincy saw the van there, but his parents car and the hatchback were both gone. The garage door was wide open, so he and Erik ran across the driveway in the fading light, with Quincy carrying Mr. Williams' air purifier held out in front of him. They quickly entered the garage. Quincy selected the outlet in the back to the right, plugged the device in, and arranged some of the boxes left from the move to hide the purifier. "Here! Stand in front of it like Mr. Williams said!" "Are you sure this will work?" Erik asked as he positioned himself in front of the device. Quincy turned on the machine, and it made no sound at all. Erik, on the other hand, started squirming and giggling, and he soon moved out of the way. "Erik! You have to stand in front of it!" "It tickles!" Erik giggled. Quincy moved in front of it and felt nothing. "Never mind that it tickles! You have to stand in front of it!" Erik moved back in front of the machine, and he was shaking and laughing like he was being tickled violently. Quincy looked down and noticed that Erik's penis was swelling up into a boner, and within seconds was stiffly sticking straight up against his waist. "Erik, you're getting a boner!" Quincy giggled. "I can't help it! It feels like that thing you did to me down there with your tongue the other night!" Erik laughed. "Erik! We weren't going to talk about that!" Quincy said as his face flushed red. Erik continued to wiggle around in laughter in front of the machine. "So much for you not being ticklish..." Quincy muttered with a smile as he went to the door to the kitchen. He could hear Erik's high pitched giggling spike as he closed the door behind him. He walked through the laundry room and entered the kitchen, where Carol was sitting. "Quincy! Are you all right!? Are you hurt?!" She hugged him and looked him over to make sure there weren't any cuts or bruises other than the ones that were already there. "I'm OK." Quincy said. "He's here!" He heard the blond woman say. She entered the room with her equipment and started waving that wand thing around. "Did you pick it up?" The bearded man said. This time he had a camera too, as well as headphones. The other camera man also came into the room and started taping Quincy. "No. There's still nothing. It's not with him now." "What are they talking about?" Quincy asked. "Quincy, go up to your room. I'll bring you your supper after I call your father on his cell phone. He's still out looking for you." Quincy then ran upstairs. The camera man went into the den to access the recording and see if the mysterious green field had shown up. "You remember what I said. Don't bother my son while he's here. I'll ask him if he wants to talk to you, but if he says no then it's final!" Carol said to them after she called Steve. "No! There's nothing here!" The camera man said from the den as he viewed the footage. She then took Quincy's plate of food out of the oven and went upstairs. The Spook Stalkers continued to move around the first floor with their equipment. Carol entered Quincy's room with the food, which Quincy gratefully tucked into after he and Carol did a quick prayer. "Quincy, I'm...sorry about all this today." Carol said. "It's OK, Mom. So did you find that ghost?" Quincy asked with a mouthful of food. "Actually yes, we saw it on tape with you when you came into the house earlier." Quincy almost choked on his food, but was able to maintain his composure. "What do you mean?" He asked. "You were taped when you came in earlier, and it was next to you when you came in. Is there something that you want to tell me?" "That show's all fake, Mom." Quincy said between bites of another mouthful of food. "They put all that stuff in to make it look like there's something happening." "So you haven't seen or experienced anything since we moved in?" "No, what should I be seeing or experiencing?" "You're sure?" "Of couse I'm sure!" Carol cleared her throat. "Quincy, I have to ask you...earlier, you jumped out the window. How on Earth were you possibly able to jump out of that window and not be injured?" "I didn't jump out the window, Mom. I heard everyone coming up the stairs so I went into the bathroom, and then I went downstairs and out the door." Quincy had thought up that excuse while sitting in the tree earlier. "But your father was down there." "He didn't see me." "Oh. So, why was your window open and your screen popped out?" Quincy hadn't thought of an excuse for that. "Well...I...got scared when I went up here and I actually WAS going to jump outta the window but it was , you know, too high, you know?" Quincy then scarfed another big mouthful of food. "I see. Well, I'm going to go back downstairs, now. We do have guests, and they're going to here all night, it looks like." "All night, really?" "Yes. They have a camera in the attic, one in the hallway our here. One in the basement, and they'll be in the den all night viewing the footage and taking readings." "Oh." "By the way, you watch this show. Do you know any of these people's names? They won't give them." "No, I can't remember what their names are on the show. I've only watched it, like, twice. I just call them The Blond Woman and The Guy With The Beard. I think they're married or something." Quincy said. "Oh, I see." Carol said. "OK, well I guess I have to go back down. I'm glad that you weren't hurt today, Honey." She leaned over and kissed Quincy on the cheek. "Hey Mom?" He said as she started to leave. Carol turned around and Quincy handed his now empty plate to her. Carol smiled and walked out, closing the door behind her. Quincy gave a big sigh of relief when she left, but he was concerned about whether Erik would be able to keep himself hidden with the air purifier all night. He was also concerned as to how and why Mr. Williams knew about Erik. Erik was standing in front of the screen of the air purifier with one hand on the device and the other on the adjoining table in order to steady himself. He was leaning his body up against it with his half shut eyes flickering open and shut, and with a smile of ecstasy on his face. He was being rocked by one intense orgasm after another, his erect penis was spasming wildly. He had discovered this effect by accident when he pressed up against the machine and his penis touched the wire mesh. He groaned in pleasure as yet another one hit and caused his knees to buckle. Until now, they had been coming one after another. They would build up, peak, and then subside, only to have another, even more intense one come right behind it. This time, though, it never subsided, and Erik found himself in a blindingly pleasurable, continous mega-orgasm. It was almost too much pleasure to bear, but he kept his trembling body in front of the device. He was so consumed with this pleasure that he didn't notice the door from the house into the garage open. The blond woman came in to give the garage a check. She waved her electromagnetic detector wand looking device around the room. She got no unusual readings, but she did notice an object sitting in the corner which had a red light on to indicate that it was working. She looked over and saw that it was an ionic air purifier that was on in the corner. She knew that those could sometimes affect her instruments, so she reached over and shut it off. When she did, her device all of a sudden lit up like a christmas tree being turned on. Erik snapped to immediately when the air purifier was shut off. He saw the blond woman standing next to him with her wand almost right in his face. "Michael! Gary! I got something here!" She cried out. Erik gave a startled yip and vanished as she was crying out. Her companions came bolting into the room. "It was right in here! This air purifier was on and was apparently masking it! It's still in the house, probably upstairs!" She said. "Good work, Ellen! Let's check the first floor first and then we'll check the second floor!" Michael, the bearded guy, said. Quincy had turned on his computer after Carol had left. As it was coming on, it flickered out and Erik appeared in the room. "What are you doing here?" "They found me! They shut off the machine so I had to come up here!" Erik said in a bitter and disappointed tone. Quincy then heard the voices of the Spook Stalkers at the bottom of the stairs, and they sounded like they were about to come up. "I think it's definitaly upstairs!" He heard the woman yell. "Erik! You said that you can't leave the house, what about if something is attached to the house?" "I don't know! What do you mean?" Erik said. "You remember when we played hide and seek and you went into the plumbing? All of that plumbing goes under ground!" Quincy said. He then heard the voices coming up the stairs. "Erik, you're going to have to go into the pipes under the house! Go as deeply into them as you can! You're going to have to stay there until tomorrow!" "Oh that means the sewer pipe! I don't want to do that!" Erik said with a repulsed look on his face. He then heard his mother's voice in the hallway. "Don't go bursting into my son's bedroom again!" Quincy heard her say. "It's in there, Mrs. Lenhardt! We can detect it right in that bedroom!" The bearded man could be heard saying. "Erik, you have to go! Go now! Go into the pipes!" Quincy hissed under his breath. Erik put on a pouty, reluctant expression, closed his eyes in resignation, and vanished from the room. "We just lost it!" He heard the blond woman say. Quincy then grabbed his I-Pod and put it on a random tune. He plunged in the ear buds just as the knock came on his door. Carol opened up the door with the Stalkers behind her and saw Quincy grooving at his desk with his computer on. Quincy turned and took his ear buds out. "Yeah, Mom?" He said innocently. "Uhhh, everything OK in here?" She said. "Sure, Mom? Why?" "Uhhh...just checking, I guess." She then turned around and closed the door behind her. "We're not going to bother him again tonight!" She said angrily as she walked past the Stalkers, who sheepishly followed her down the stairs. While all this was going on, Steve pulled up into the driveway. He had stopped by the store to pick up some things after Carol had called him to let him know that Quincy was safe. As he stepped out of the car, a man popped out of the bushes behind him in the growing darkness and hit him on the back of the head with a blunt object. Steve collapsed to the ground unconscious. The assailant then knelt down and took the keys out of Steve's hand. He went through Steve's pockets, taking his cell phone and his pistol before getting up and running towards the front door of the house. End of chapter 10
