Subject: The Amulet Part Eight (Young Friends) (Science Fiction)

The next morning Robert knocked on my door to wake me and said it was
shower time. This time he wanted to use my shower. We both got clean but
when I started to wank him he stopped me. "We've got time afterwards.
Let's get clean and go and use your bed," He said. I wondered why we
used my bed and I did wonder if it was a bit of an ego thing for him. He
wanted to be the first one in my bed to do something with me. Even if
Alex moved in with me, Robert would always know I'd got him off on there
first.

"Can you show me your sucking skills?" He asked me pleadingly as we lay

you're from. This could be a real coup for me and be really beneficial
for this world," He said. I thanked him and we chatted and ate breakfast
until Jim arrived.

Jim gave an overview of Robert's meetings for the day. He then took me
under his wing to show me how to use the computer to manage his diary and
answer electronic communications. It was more basic than the email
programme I was used to and I could already think of some improvements.
Still at least it did seem the job would be fairly easy. Taking minutes.
Then writing them up and submitting them to London. It was certainly
better than manual labour.

I sat in a meeting in the afternoon taking minutes for the first time.
The topics being discussed really showed how many problems they had. Crop
yields were fine as it was spring but already there were discussions
about stockpiling and rationing for the winter. Apparently that had
happened all over the country as the weather got colder and it sounded
serious. There had been unrest before that was stamped down on quickly
and I realised the situation here was even worse than it sounded. Robert
was very good at managing everything and I could see he made a real
impact here. Sometimes though as he ran his hands through his hair
dealing with a difficult decision he looked like who he really was. Just
a teenager dealing with problems he shouldn't have to. I knew he hoped
that opening a gateway could help this world but I knew that wasn't
likely. The amulet only opened them briefly and closed once we went
through. I'm not sure what he expected but I was fairly sure it wasn't
that. However, I would keep that to myself. I wanted out of here and
keeping Robert onboard was key to that.

It had been a busy day but at the end of it I was allowed to go and visit
the others who were still setting up in a couple of rooms along the
corridor.

"Sam, thank god you're ok. I hear I'm moving in with you tonight."
Alex said in relief as he came over and hugged me.

I started to speak but he whispered, "Not here, I imagine we're being
watched, keep it positive."

"All good I'm working with the boss and there's lots of good work we
can do together. Your work here is important too. If we can somehow find
the gateway we came in on then this will really help this world. If we
work together we can hopefully locate it again, if it's still open,". I
said emphasising a few key words.

"What about the..." Lee started to say before Matt cut across him,
"Way to the gateway? I think I can remember it but I guess it depends
how long it is until we can investigate."

Lee looked at him sharply before realising Matt didn't want him to
mention the amulet. I checked everyone was ok. It seemed they'd been
treated well and as well as this room for work they had a bedroom each
although Matt and Lee had arranged to share. James had a room to
himself.

"I'll be keeping it locked. I've already been propositioned more times
that I care to remember since I got here!" He said grimacing slightly.

"You're only playing hard to get, don't pretend you don't fancy a bit
of fun!" Lee said with a giggle.

"You wish," James replied before Lee hugged Matt and said he had
everything he needed right here.

I told Alex to get his stuff and to move in with me. Robert was on a call
with HQ on topics I wasn't allowed to hear so we had a bit of time
together. He followed me along the corridor and I helped him get his
stuff into my room. I turned to look at him. It was time to be honest and
I hoped he understood.

"First of all, I need to tell you some things. Last night I messed
around with Robert," I said seriously.

"Who's Robert?!" He asked in confusion.

"Ah. The boss, our boss. He offered me a deal. Become his PA and do
stuff with him sex wise and he wouldn't send you guys to the farming
lands for work. It's grim out there Alex. I had to protect you so I
agreed. I had to get him off twice yesterday although he did teach me
something I can't wait to try on you. But I better warn you now. While
he's happy for you to move in here and work with me, he still wants to
mess around with me. He also might involve you. It's going to be a weird
situation and if you're uncomfortable with it then you have the option
of moving in with James."

 It hurt telling Alex everything but it was important to me he knew the
truth and was fully aware of what was ahead of us.

His expression was unreadable until he half smiled, "How dare he seduce
my boyfriend! Don't worry Sam. I know you felt you have no choice or
even had no choice. We're in a strange shitty world and we need to do
what we can to survive and get out of here. Any luck with you know
what?" He asked. I presumed we weren't being watched in here but I
guess he was being cautious.

"No, I haven't touched it since I took it off for the medical. Maybe
tonight I'll give it a go. Now.....go and wash your dick and I'll show

I'd been more watchful but maybe me being here made him braver. He
certainly gave Robert a good overview of our world. After dinner Robert
asked us to come in the shower with him. A precursor to sex no doubt. We

you so much!" He said grinning before we went into the bathroom.

He turned the shower head on. As the hot water streamed out noisily he
shut the door behind him. He then stopped us before we got into the
shower. "I never know if HQ spy on us or not. I presume they do. But
probably not in this room. Here we can talk properly. I want out. This
world is dying and even if we could get to your world or another one I
doubt the problems are easily fixable. There is also the risk of
spreading our diseases to it. HQ know about the gateway and are happy for
me to investigate and report back before taking any action. If you take
me there and it's open can we all just leave together?" He asked in
little more than a whisper, making us strain to hear him over the running
water.

This threw me and I wasn't sure if it was a test or not. Luckily Alex
was there and took charge. "In theory everything is possible. First  we
need to find the gateway and soon before it closes. How long until you
can get clearance for us all to go on the mission?" He asked.

"I'm in charge here. It should be fairly easy. I'll run it by my
superiors tomorrow. Now onto more important things. Get yourself in that
shower and clean up. Then I'll show you the delights of daisy chaining
on my bed!" He said with a grin.

He was right, it was delightful. Even if I just wanted to suck Alex

works then we can't do much," He replied. I agreed. I wanted to check
the amulet but I felt it was too risky if we were being watched. For now
I just went to sleep, happy to be held close by Alex.

The new few days flew by with me and Alex both working hard for Robert.
He'd briefly mentioned he was still waiting for news from his superiors
on the mission so there wasn't much we could do about that. The evenings
were sex filled and not entirely unpleasant! But I was getting itchy feet
as were the others. The longer we stayed here it might be tricky to
leave. What happened if Robert's superiors decided it was too important
a task to leave to him and wanted more seniority here?

That night in bed when it was dark and quiet and Alex was asleep I got my
amulet out for the first time since I'd taken it off for my medical
yesterday.

I held it in my hand and thought "I need help."
Nothing.
Then I tried again with "wake up!", then "awaken!"" and a variety of
words like that.

"For fucks sake just do something!" I said out loud in annoyance. It
vibrated gently and a very soft light emanated from it. A tiny slither of
metal popped out and pricked my finger.

"Sorry Sam. It's dangerous here so I've been keeping quiet," A voice
said in my head. This was a surprise, not only was it in my head but it
was not shouting or speaking in staccato sentences.

"How can I hear you? Can you hear me?" I asked silently, thinking the
words in my head.

"Yes I can. No time to explain. I don't have long. A power source like
me might get picked up if they have scanning equipment. I can see you
want to know if I can open a gateway out of here? Yes although it will
take less power if we do it where we came into this world. The residual
energy from a rift opening means I can piggyback onto that. I can't
control what world it will be so it may be worse than this one so saving
my energy makes sense. As to the other questions I can see forming
because I've linked with you again by being around your chest I've
utilised your language and speech patterns to make it easier for us to
communicate. If you wear me then our bond will strengthen. Also the
people looking for you are still looking for you but there are an
uncountable number of dimensions for them to search for your signature
for. It took 3 years for them to find you last time so we have time. I
will provide you with more information when you are ready but it's
complicated. For now, take me to where we entered and I will open a
gateway for you. I must go now," It said and the light faded.

"Alex wake up,"I whispered. I wanted him to be awake before I could
whisper an update to him.

"So we're good to go then. We just need Robert to get sign off," He
said very quietly once I'd told him what I'd been told by the amulet.

"Yes but I think we push him even if he's still waiting, just in
case," I replied. The delay was making me angsty.

"I agree. Well given you've woken me up....how do you fancy us having a
midnight snack?." He asked giggling, his hard dick pushing into me.
"Mmm sounds good!" I said giggling back. There's nothing like a quick

The next morning over breakfast I passed Robert a note, "Today or it

should all go to the medical centre and get them to test. Just a quick
one but my thinking is we can't ever have too much information. I was
reading James's account of having an illness called "chicken pox" when
he was younger and it made me think that it might help with us developing
vaccines for future poxes."

"Good idea, I'll go and get the others," I said.

"And give their supervisor this note"  Robert said putting his pen down
after scribbling on some paper. He handed me two pieces of paper. One
which authorised them to come with me. The other said, "pack all your
stuff and get Alex and the others to take it downstairs with me. The
official version is we want to run tests on it," He said. I nodded and
went off to see the boys.

The next hour was a whirlwind of going up and down stairs, carrying
things and keeping as out the way as possible. We were all packed in a
minibus with the old driver with all our stuff waiting to leave when
Robert came out the building.

"Fred, I'll handle this. I want to speak to the doctor anyway so I
might as well drive. Have the rest of the morning off and enjoy a walk
along the beach. We'll be back in an hour or two." He said before
getting in to replace Fred and driving us off towards the medical
facility. As we got there he drove past it and kept going. Soon after we
passed a military looking vehicle driving on the other side of the road.
I could see the driver had full hazmat gear on which seemed strange.
Robert looked uneasy at that. As we turned up a quiet lane and after
directions from us Robert accelerated away as fast as he could up to
where we came out into the outskirts of Brighton. He turned the minibus
onto the walking path and drove as far as he could as fast as he could
before stopping and we filed out.

"We need to hurry," He said urgently as we started lifting our packs
and kit onto our backs. "I don't know what that military vehicle was or
who was in but they were wearing a suit which probably means they were
from London and had orders. Maybe to take you away. Maybe to take charge.
Maybe none of those but if they are looking for you then they'll realise
before long you've gone. It might be coincidence that they turned up
when they did but it seems unlikely. To waste fuel here is a crime due to
the lack of it so it must have been very important to drive from wherever
they've come," He said, looking very concerned.

We walked hurriedly up on to the South Downs way and retraced our steps
as quickly as we could, taking frequent glances behind us to check we
were all clear. We had a long head start and it was unlikely they'd know
exactly where we were going. However I knew that if they caught us then
that was potentially the end of ability to escape this world. We dipped
down and climbed up hills until we thought we were sort of close to where
we came through. At that point I held my amulet, noting Robert's
surprise as it glowed and opened a gateway. He suddenly looked reluctant
as the others started to walk through to the new world.

"It's now or never Robert," I said and after a brief hesitation he
shrugged then followed us, entering yet another new world as the gateway
closed behind us...
