They'd agreed to leave it a few weeks to see if she showed any sign of a preference between them. As Matt had made seemingly no effort at all to talk to her, Will thought this was just a delaying tactic by Matt for what reason he wasn't quite sure. However Will used the time to be as nice and charming as possible both to Jessica and also importantly her friends. He was playing the long game after all. Then he had some surprise good news that meant an opportunity might have presented itself to shake things up somewhat. It would involve Will being right about what his gut had always told him and it would need some luck and planning but it might just pay off. It might also explode in his face so he had to be careful. He decided to just play it easy for now and see what happened. It was Wednesday afternoon, Matt and Will had just had a very muddy PE session out on the school playing fields. They hadn't been together though. Matt had been playing football so had mostly got away with the mud bath that Will had encountered. Will had been playing rugby after all and he was completely caked in mud after ending up on the ground more than once. Matt was back in the changing room before Will and had cursorily rinsed his legs in the shower when Will came back in looking like a mud monster. Matt was pretty much dressed and the changing room was starting to empty by the time Will came back from the shower wearing just a towel having washed the mud away. Matt caught a few boys casting possibly admiring glances at Will's muscular physique as he walked up to where Matt was sitting. No one wanted to be accused of looking though so they were fleeting glances. Back at the bench, Will dropped his towel and started drying off. Will liked dropping his towel in the changing room, he knew it was a bit of an ego trip but he liked to see the reactions from the less developed boys as they saw his chunky 3 inches dangling below a substantial amount of pubic hair. Though he knew Matt pretended not to look he knew he always did. This was a good opportunity to plant some seeds that he'd been working on over the past few days since he'd had some unexpected news. Will knew the whole thing was a bit crazy but he thought fuck it. It was time to see if Will could play the game as well as Matt seemed to. "Hey Matt, did I tell you one of my friends from scouts is joining our school in a couple of weeks?" Will asked Matt as he dried his hair with his towel letting his dick swing loose in front of his best friend. "What?! In the middle of the school year, how come?" Matt asked, trying to ignore the dick swinging close to him. "They've moved into our catchment area and it's a better school. His name is Rob and he's really nice! You'll like him. However I've got something very important to tell you about him but not here," Will said, continuing to towel himself dry in front of Matt. Matt marvelled at how relaxed Will was being naked in front of him. Mind you he was pretty well hung for his age compared to Matt anyway who was virtually hairless and had barely grown. Matt liked to keep himself well hidden behind a towel. He might have cocky arrogance about most things but his relative lack of physical development was one thing he wasn't going to shout about. Matt also didn't know why he found it hard not to look at Will's dick when it was out on display. All boys had one, why did he feel the need to have a look? He suspected it was just a bit of jealousy, and maybe looking towards the day when his would be that big. After all everyone's dick grew eventually and so would his. He just didn't know why he couldn't keep his eyes off them. "So what was it you wanted to tell me about Rob?" Matt asked Will as they walked home later that day. Matt had been wondering what could be "very important" and it had intrigued him. Will usually wouldn't have used words like that so it was clearly something worth hearing, Will looked around conspiratorially to see if anyone was listening. He obviously decided it was fine and he leaned in close to Matt to whisper into his ear. "So don't tell ANYONE! And especially don't let him know I told you but Rob is......." "Is what?!" Matt asked impatiently, getting mildly annoyed by Will's dramatic pause. "Calm down! Ok well there's no easy way of saying this....but he is.......a wizard!". "You fucking dickhead! You made me think it was going to be something serious!" Matt said, throwing his hands up in the air theatrically. "So the fact a wizard is joining our school and can cast spells on us etc doesn't sound serious?!" Will asked in mock outrage. "It's not serious because it's a load of fucking bollocks! We don't go to Hogwarts after all! Fucking hell Will. you come up with some bullshit at times!" "Ok well don't say I didn't warn you! When he casts a spell on you, don't come crying to me!" Will made a hand signal like a wand moving in the air as he said this which caused Matt to giggle. Matt thought it was the biggest load of bollocks he'd ever heard but Will seemed so earnest he decided not to burst his bubble too much. "Well he's your friend and I'm your best friend so surely Rob will be nice to me and not cast any spells on me? Anyway if he really can do magic maybe he can make Jessica fall in love with me?" Matt asked hopefully but not really seriously. "I said he's a wizard. He's not some omnipotent god! There's no power in the universe that can make anyone fall in love with you!" Will said giggling as he slapped his best friend on the back. Matt was feeling grumpy at Will winding him up but let it pass for now. Plenty of time to get his revenge he decided. The next morning on the way to school Matt had more questions for Will. He'd been thinking about the whole wizard thing and he was sure Will was completely bullshitting about it. What he didn't know was whether Will really believed it or not. He also wasn't sure why Will would even think of saying it. "How do you know Rob is a wizard anyway?" He asked Will putting him on the spot. "He's cast spells on people before. Like really powerful ones." "What sort of spells? And why on earth are you friends with him if he casts spells on people?!" Matt asked incredulously. He didn't believe what Will was saying but it was a fair question. Why would Will be friends with someone who cast spells on people as outlandish as that sounded ? "Because he's a really nice boy! He's funny, he's kind, he's not toxic or anything like that. Also yes he's a wizard that does spells but what I don't know is if HE knows that he does spells. Maybe it's like his subconscious doing it? Remember in all the books we read that often a boy develops powers without even knowing it until someone trains him how to use them properly. Maybe it's like that?" "Listen to yourself Will! Do you really believe all this? It's literally insane!" Matt protested but Will wasn't listening. "I can't ignore the evidence Matt! Occam's razor makes it the most likely explanation!" "Am fairly sure you're misusing that but in any case magic doesn't exist. But I accept you believe Rob is a wizard and I'll not tell him you told me. Unless I decide you overstep the mark and then I will!" Matt said with a cheeky grin. They both knew Matt had it in him to do it if he wanted to but on this occasion Matt was clear he was going to keep it to himself. Will might be borderline insane with this whole wizard rubbish but Matt had no desire to come across as insane as his best friend currently sounded! The boys went their separate ways and did what boys do after school. Later that evening Matt picked up an old book he and Will used to like to read. About a seemingly simple peasant boy with dark red hair who turned out to be the heir to a lost throne and ended up being a powerful sorcerer to boot. He hadn't realised he had magical powers and had even used them before without being at all aware of it. Matt had always wanted to be like that. To be part of something greater, to have magical powers. That had all gone as he'd got a bit older but it did make him think. Maybe it was his cynicism getting in the way. Maybe magic did exist and there was a whole world of adventure and excitement that he was unaware of? No he thought, shaking his head. It all just sounded completely ridiculous. Maybe Will was like he used to be. Desperately hoping that magic existed. It could just be as simple as that. Matt nodded to himself in satisfaction. That was clearly what was going on. After all, Will was fairly simple at the best of times and it couldn't be anymore complicated than that.
