Date: Tue, 24 Apr 2012 03:53:24 -0700 (PDT) From: BR Subject: Two Boys a Love Story: Lost Chapter This is a "lost" chapter of "Two Boys: A Love Story". It takes place between parts I and II. As with all of these stories, don't read if you're under 18 or if it's illegal to do so in your area. Prologue It was deathly quiet in the hospital room except for the low humming of the machinery, the sound of the oxygen mask, the beeping of the electrocardiograph, and the breathing of the relatives, doctors, nurses, and a Catholic priest, all of whom were gathered around the small figure who lay unconscious in the bed. The window shades were up, and it was a bright sunny day. To me, though, the sunlight looked stark and hideous and insane, like a nightmare in a lunatic asylum. I put my hand over my eyes and wandered over to a couch in the room with my back to everyone, my mouth frozen open in a silent scream. A patient with advanced, late stage cystic fibrosis loses their ability to take oxygen into their lungs. An oxygen mask has to pump air directly into the lungs at a high velocity. The cold, dry oxygen makes frequent applications of lip balm necessary to keep the patients lips from chapping and cracking open. At this stage this continuous blast of oxygen is all that is keeping the patient alive. However, the lungs are steadily filling up with fluid, and the patient eventually drowns. Suddenly the electrocardiograph started beeping rapidly and a siren went off. A nurse came up behind me and put an arm around my shoulder. "Come on, it's time to say goodbye." She said as she led me back to the bed. I was led right up next to the pillow, but my tears didn't allow me to open my eyes to gaze at the figure below. I felt two hands grab and squeeze my shoulders. Across the room two women, one I think was Mom, were sobbing. The priest began administering the Last Rites. The tiny figure made a brief choking noise, the electrocardiograph suddenly made a sustained beep, and then showed a flat line. The relatives around me all burst into tears. Right next to me I could hear my wife scream and start sobbing as she collapsed to the ground. I began to tremble as I opened my eyes. My mouth slowly opened up to full width, and at first a low moan, and then a long sob left my throat, and then a long, teary, anguished wail burst out from me as I looked down upon the dead boy lying in the bed... Two Boys: A Love Story supplemental chapter ...and I was suddenly awake. I lay in my bed panting and sweating from a half remembered nightmare. I tried to remember what was in the dream, but it was fading away fast, leaving behind abstract images of grief and despair, and then not even that . I shook it off and remembered that I had school this morning. I looked over at the clock and it said 6:30. It was close to when I got up anyway so I got out of bed and took my morning shower. I went into the kitchen and fixed myself the same breakfast that I had been having every school day since Kindergarten, two Pop Tarts and a bowl (or two) of cornflakes. I ran to the bus stop and got there early. I eagerly awaited the arrival of the bus, and felt a wave of joy come over me once it appeared. Once I got to school I rushed right to my desk and sat down. I looked to my right at all the other kids streaming in, and after a few seconds I saw Adam come romping on into the room. I broke into a big grin involuntarily when he walked in. I felt my chest kind of tighten up a little and my stomach was tingling. He looked at me as he walked to his desk and broke into a big grin. After he sat I looked over at him and smiled. My heart was thudding in my chest just at the sight of him. He looked over and smiled at me and we gazed into each others eyes until the roll was called. During class I tried concentrating on my work, but I kept going over and over in my head what Adam and I did in my room the day before. I had a raging hard on while I thought about how we kissed and how we touched each other. I would look over at him, with his bowl cut and his blue eyes, and I would want to faint. I didn't see how I was going to be able to get through the year with Adam right there in class sitting next to me. Shortly before lunch, Adam slipped me a note. "Can I sleep over at your house on Friday?" He wrote. "What about your dad?" I wrote back. "He doesn't have us this weekend." He wrote. "Sure. Call me after school, OK? Or I'll call you." I wrote. I had a boner nonstop the entire morning as I thought about having Adam over. Yesterday he was only over for a couple of hours, imagine what we can do if we have all night, I thought. At lunch we both sat at our place at the far end of the left hand side of the three cafeteria tables assigned to our class. Adam and I sat across from each other and just stared at each other with dopey little smiles on our faces. All I could think about was how good Adam looked and how much I liked him while my heart pounded away in my chest. We were jarred back into reality when the rest of our lunch crew arrived. Scott Crawford was this husky black kid with a light complexion and dark freckles, Chris Stover was this tall, skinny, brown haired kid who was really good at basketball, and Chris Richards was that friend of Adam's from the fourth grade who was in our class. We then began our daily discussion of NFL football, Playboy models, and whatever was on TV last night. After school I threw down my backpack, kicked off my shoes, and ran immediately to the phone. I dialed Adam's number and he answered it after just one ring. "Ha, you beat me this time!" Adam said when he picked up. "You know you can't beat Kid Lightning!" I laughed as I plopped down on the couch and lay down on my back with my right leg draped over the back rest. "Curse you, Kid Lightning!" He cried out and we both laughed at that. "So Madman, do you want to come home with me on the bus on Friday?" I asked. "I can't, Buyer." He said. "Mom said she wants to take me and Maddie clothes shopping after school. She says she can have me over after seven sometime." He said. "I guess that's cool. We'll see if they'll let you stay over on Saturday too." "That would be great, you're going to be at my soccer game too, right?" "You bet." I said. "So...thanks again for having me over at your house yesterday, it was real fun." He said. "I thought it was fun too. I liked it alot." I said. "I thought about it all day, I couldn't hardly concentrate on anything." He said. "Me too." I said. "Do you think it was wrong?" He asked. "What we did?" I said. "Yeah..." Adam replied. "No." I said without any hesitation. "Not at all. Anyone who says it is doesn't understand or know what they're talking about! People make some really stupid rules! No one should say anything bad about what we did, it was good. " I said. "When I'm with you I feel like anything that we do that makes us both happy is OK." He said. I put my other hand up against the receiver and caressed my fingers over it. I wanted to crawl into the phone line and make my way to Adam through it. I felt a loving feeling in my chest that wanted to burst through. I was being overwhelmed by these feelings and I worried that I might pass out. "I can't believe I'm in love with a boy." I heard myself say. I couldn't believe that just slipped out like that. I heard silence on the other end of the line and I thought I might have hurt his feelings. I then heard a sharp draw of breath on the other line. "I can believe I am because it's with you. I don't see how somebody couldn't love you. You're just so totally cool. I mean, you're completely awesome! I can't believe that you're my best friend. I feel so lucky..." Adam was gushing his feelings out on the other line, and I felt myself wanting to grab my bike and ride to his house. I then remembered that I didn't even have any idea where he lived. "I do too. Please don't be mad at me for saying that, I just wasn't expecting that to happen. I'm really glad that I met you and I feel lucky too." I said. "I just hope nobody finds out." He said. "Yeah, they'll break us apart." I said. The reality of our difficult situation then set in. We both became somewhat somber after that, talked for another hour or so, and finally hung up. My right ear was hot and sweaty and numb from the long phone call. I went and did my homework until Mom came home and cooked dinner for us. The rest of the week pretty much went by just like that. Adam and I would exchange glances and smiles and notes like a couple of little kids going through puppy love. He passed a really nice drawing to me on Thursday, and I decided to keep it along with a couple of other drawings of his that I had at home in my desk. Every time I saw one of his drawings I was always impressed. Each one was always different, almost like some other person did each drawing. I would try to discuss his drawings with him and he would clam up or change the subject. I was starting to become a big fan of his as an artist, on top of everything else. That Friday evening I gobbled down my dinner as I impatiently waited for Adam to arrive. I looked at the clock from my seat at the dining table every few seconds or so, and kicked my legs impatiently. "When is Adam going to be here? It's well after seven already!" I whined as Mom cleared the table. "Byron, relax! He's going to be here! Here, help me with these dishes, that'll take your mind off of it." Mom said. I sighed out loud at being tricked into doing housework by Mom. I got up and went to the sink and washed and dried all the dishes while Mom scrubbed the pans. After I finished, I sat on the couch and turned the TV on and watched "Jeopardy." Adam finally arrived a little after 7:30. After his mom let him off he walked into the living room, said hi to Mom as she answered the door, dropped his overnight bag, and high fived me as he sat down next to me on the sofa . We then tried to answer the questions faster than the other. If one of us didn't know an answer we would blurt out something completely wrong, or just some gibberish, and then we would both dissolve into laughter. "Look at them, they're like brothers." I heard Mom say to Sherry during a commercial. Adam's mom apparently stayed around for a few minutes. "Hey look, Buyer! My mom is STILL here!" Adam said in a zany, high pitched cartoon sounding voice, and we both exploded into raucous belly laughter. "No she's not!" Sherry laughed as she got up and put her purse around her shoulder. Adam and I waved at her from the couch as she and Mom said goodbye. As soon as Sherry was out the door, "Jeopardy" came back on, and Adam and I drove my poor mother halfway crazy with our antics and shenanigans. After "Jeopardy, Mom put a DVD on. As she was putting the movie on, Adam grabbed his overnight bag and we went to my room. I stripped down to my boxers, t-shirt, and socks. Adam stripped down to nothing but his boxers. Before I could ask him if he was sure he wanted to be in front of Mom in just his boxers, he marched out into the living room and plopped back down onto the couch. The three of us watched the movie. Adam and I sat on the couch and Mom sat on the chair. As the movie went on, we gradually shifted ourselves little by little towards each other. Finally, after about an hour into the movie, I felt Adam put his head down on my right shoulder. I put my arm around him and felt his head rest against my chest. He also draped his left leg over my right leg so that his knee rubbed right against my groin. I grabbed a quilt that we kept on the couch and put it over us so that all that anyone would see were our heads. Under the quilt I could feel Adam rubbing my stomach and my leg. I began rubbing his leg and I then felt his hand in my groin, rubbing my penis through the fly in my boxers. I looked over at Mom and she appeared to be watching the movie. The movie then took an interesting enough turn to distract Adam and I from each other, and we sat under the quilt intertwined as the movie climaxed it's way to the end and the credits began to roll. "Well that was a good movie." Mom said as she turned the lights back on. She had gotten our Parcheesi board out and had wanted to play a game. "I'm really tired. I kinda want to go to sleep." Adam said. "Yeah I'm tired too, Mom. Sorry." I said. "Oh..." She said with a disappointed face. "Are you sure? There's plenty of Dr. Pepper in the fridge and I was going to make Chex Mix." "No thanks, Mom. We're just tired. It's been a long week. Sorry." I said. "Yeah, sorry Miss Simmons." Adam said. "Maybe we can play tomorrow night if you'll let me stay over again tomor..." I then cupped my hand over Adam's mouth. "Adam! We were going to wait until tomorrow to ask!" I hissed. Adam then licked my palm which caused me to withdraw with a yelp and a flurry of giggles. Mom smiled. "We'll see..." She said. Adam and I yelled and high fived. "I SAID WE'LL SEE!" Mom yelled after us as we bolted into my room. I closed the door and Adam and I both collapsed giggling onto the bed. We then stopped giggling and started rubbing our fingers through each others hair and over our faces. We then both leaned over and started kissing. I got on my back and Adam then got on top of me and we locked our arms together and rolled back and forth on top each other on the single bed. I ran my hands under Adam's boxers and up and down his smooth butt. "Let me turn off the light." I panted as I got up off the bed. We had set up a spare cot for Adam to sleep on, so I had to make sure not to bang my shin or my toe on it. Adam slipped off his boxers. I slipped off my t-shirt and boxers but kept my socks on. I turned the lights off and collapsed back down onto the bed. Adam and I spent the next hour in absolute ecstasy. We rubbed our fingers and hands all over each other, kissed, embraced, licked each others dicks, rubbed our noses together, felt each others ears, rubbed our fingers together, rubbed our hands through each others hair, and rubbed our tongues together. Adam at one point went under the covers and pulled my socks off. We then sat on the bed facing each other and rubbed our feet together. I ran my foot over his knee and up and down his leg, feeling the smooth skin under my feet. Eventually our feet wound up in our groins. I loved the feel of Adam's hard dick and soft ballsack on the sole of my foot. Adam was using his toes to stimulate the tip of my dick. Adam then leaned over and took my penis in his hand and started jerking it back and forth while we kissed. We finally lay down face to face, and tongue kissed each other while we rubbed the tips of our dicks together. We did that until we both came at the same time, our bodies both shuddering in waves of orgasmic pleasure. I let out a series of chirping grunts and Adam let out a quiet, yet high pitched moan as he clutched at my butt. We then both let out a big sigh and lay back on the bed. I took the covers and put them over us. Adam snuggled next to me and put his head on my chest. I rolled over a bit and put my arms around him. We interlocked our legs together and I could feel his breath against my cheek. I took deep breaths so that I could catch his scent. As far as I was concerned I didn't ever want to be anywhere other than where I was then. "Oops, we did it again..." Adam sang to the melody of the Britney Spears song. I laughed and tightened my embrace. "You're so funny." I said. "You're funny." He said. "You're cute and funny." I grinned. Adam grinned and rubbed his face over mine and against my cheek, like a cat. We then rubbed our fingers together and held each others hands. I stroked his hair with my other hand and Adam rubbed his fingers around my eyes with his. "Do you ever wish that your parents were still together?" I asked after a minute or so. "Yeah, kind of, I guess. I don't miss all the fighting, but it wasn't just fighting, we had some good times too." He said. "You?" "Yeah, I do." I said. "I miss it when it was the three of us. I miss Dad cooking a steak on the grill. I miss my room and my friends. I miss going to Ravens and Orioles games. I'm going to miss Christmas with the three of us, and Thanksgiving. I miss seeing Dad every day." I put my hands behind my head and Adam shifted himself so that his head was right next to mine. He began rubbing my chest and my armpits. "I felt the same way when Dad left." He said. "I thought everything would be all messed up and different, but we all got used to it. I guess it helped that he left and came back twice before they finally broke up for good." "He left and came back twice?" I asked as I began stroking his cheek. "Yeah. He left the first time when I was six and stayed away for a week. The second time was a couple of days after he came back, that was for a few hours. I remember they got my sister and me to sit in the living room and they told us that despite all their problems we were a family and we were always going to be a family and nobody was going anywhere and blah bibble blabbedy blugh blegheDY bLEH BLAH." Adam said with his tongue out. I laughed and ran my hand through his hair. He was so much fun to talk to. "So what happened?" I asked. "They fought every day for another couple of years until Dad finally left for good and never came back." He said. "What did you do when he left?" I asked. "Nothing really. I was only eight. I acted like I was upset so that I could get some toys or something out of it." Adam said. I laughed. "Did it work?" "Yeah, I got a Digi-Egg and a couple of Playstation games." He smiled. "I never even knew my parents were having problems. The never fought or anything. I always thought they were happy." I said sadly as I looked up at the ceiling. "I didn't know..." I whispered. "It's not your fault." Adam said. "I know, it's just...I miss Dad...I miss Mom AND Dad..." I said. I felt like I might start crying. I had never talked about any of this with anybody. "Adam, can I tell you something I've never told anyone?" "Sure, anything. I'll keep it a secret to if you want me to, I promise." He then kissed my cheek and put his head back down on my chest. "My dad never even tried to get custody. He never asked for visitation. He never asked to see me. He only wanted the house. He doesn't care if he ever sees me again..." I caught my breath as a lump all of a sudden formed in my throat. "He's sent me two letters and five e-mails, that's all. When Mom came and got me... and said she was taking me away to another part of the country, he did nothing. He just stood there..." "I'm so sorry, Buyer." Adam said in a pained little voice. "He hurt Mom really bad too, she tried to kill herself and went after him too. They had to put her away for awhile. He's hurt both of us so much. Please don't tell anybody any of this." I pleaded. "I won't. I promise." Adam said. I released a shuddering sigh as the tears flowed out. I wiped my eyes and sniffled a bit. "Please don't be sad, Buyer. It makes me feel sad too..." Adam said as he tightened his arms around me. He is so sweet, I thought. "I'll never be sad as long as your next to me." I said as I rubbed my hand through his hair and down his back. "I love you so much, Buyerlin." Adam said with a grin and we started kissing again. We hardly slept at all that night. We spent the entire night wrapped up in each others arms, whispering, cuddling, and testing the limits of physical pleasure on each other. All of my little hidden desires that I kept bottled up deep within me all came bubbling out, and Adam became the focus of my entire being. I no longer wanted to just be with him, I wanted to be inside of him. I wanted us to be fused into one person. I no longer felt like I was just a single individual. I felt like my soul and Adam's had both merged, and that we were now a single entity. In school we were by each others side constantly. Our desks were next to each other, we ate lunch together, played at recess together, sat next to each other in music class. In PE we refused to play on opposite teams in kickball and volleyball. We were starting and finishing each others sentences. Everyday after school we called each other. We also tried to keep in touch during the weekends, through phone or e-mail, and I tried to go to all of Adam's soccer games. Halloween was on a Thursday, and Adam and I planned to meet at his house after school and go trick or treating in his neighborhood. His dad was then going to pick us up, drive us over to my neighborhood, and we would then trick or treat there. Adam's dad would then drive him home. We had on our costumes in school. Adam was dressed as a magician. He had on a black cape, black pants, a plastic wand, and a black top hat. He had on his white sneakers, which looked funny. I was dressed as Han Solo. I got on Adam's bus after school and rode the mile or so to his house. We got off the bus in a wealthy neighborhood and began walking towards the big house in the cul de sac. "Is this your house?" I said as we walked up the driveway. "No, it's Geritol's." Adam said. "He just let's us live here." He said. "So what does Gerald do?" I asked. "He's a big shot." Adam said. "I can see that." I muttered in awe. Adam then opened the front door and I stood amazed at the elegant front foyer, with marble tiled floor, a red carpeted spiral staircase, and an opulent, hanging chandelier. Adam showed me his large bedroom and several other interesting features in the house. His mom was there and cooked us a nice dinner. She introduced herself to me and said that I could call her by her first name Sherry. I thought that was really cool, as no adult had ever let me call them by their first name before. Adam's sister Maddie was also there, and I thought she was really cool. I couldn't stop looking at her. She had long blonde hair and a smooth, tapered face. She also had a nice looking pair of tits that I had to keep tearing myself away from staring at. Adam and I set out Trick Or Treating before the sun had even gone all the way down. After an hour and a half we had filled up both of our bags. We dragged our haul back to his house and got another couple of empty bags. Adam's dad then showed up to take us to my neighborhood. Adam left his bag of candy in his room and we drove back over to my house. Adam's dad turned out to be pretty cool, although I noticed that he was drinking a beer while he drove us. His name was Don, and he was in his late forties with sort of long reddish brown hair with some grey in it, sort of beady hazel eyes, and a bushy, greying beard. The three of us went around my neighborhood trick or treating. Adam's dad would pull up to a neighborhood block. We would scramble out and trick or treat, jump back in the car, and go to the next block. We trick or treated until well after 9 pm, and we wound up filling up both of those bags as well. Afterwords Adam and I went back to my house and we dumped our haul out onto the living room floor while Mom and Don chatted at the dining room table. Adam and I had very different tastes in candy. I was into chocolate and Adam liked gum and fruit chews and peanut butter candy. We would each take what we liked out of the others stash, and both of us had enough candy to last us for at least a month. Adam's dad then informed us that it was time for him to take Adam home. We both groaned and Adam began raking up his candy into the bag. Once he was done filling up his bag he got up and we both waved goodbye to each other. I wanted so badly to reach out and hug him. "See you in school tomorrow, Buyer." Adam said. "Bye Adam. Thank you for taking Byron out trick or treating, Don." Mom said. "My pleasure. You take care, Grace. See you, Byron." Don said. "Bye Mr. Fitzgerald. Thanks." I said. "Bye, Madman." Adam waved to me as he and his dad went through the door and closed it behind them. I was surprised by a sudden, empty feeling when Adam left. I actually felt sad that he was gone. The next day, after school, I was surprised when I arrived home to find Mom there. She was sitting at the kitchen table crying with several crumpled up wads of kleenex around her. She told me between sniffles that Dad was in town and wanted to see me. She said he will be coming by in a half hour and that he was going to take me out to dinner. "Are you OK, Mom?" I asked. She sniffled and blew her nose into another fresh kleenex. "Yeah...yeah...I'm fine, Byron. I just got upset when I saw your father today. It's been a while." She said. "Well I don't like him upsetting you like this. What's he here for anyway?" I said angrily. "He wants to see you." She said as she wiped her eyes. "Oh really?" I said sarcastically. "Yes! He wants to see his son! Now get ready to meet him in the driveway at 4:00! She said sternly. She then got up, grabbed the kleenex box, went into her room and closed the door. I was actually really glad to be seeing Dad, but I didn't want Mom to see that. She tried to restrain herself around me, but Mom's bitterness towards Dad was as noticeable as her face. I waited around until 4:00, and sure enough, right on the dot, I saw a rented Cadillac pull into the driveway. I ran outside and jumped into the car before Mom could show up and make a scene. "Mom's in her room. Go, go Dad!" I said. "Hello, Byron!" Dad said and gave me a half hug from the driver seat. He then put the car in reverse and pulled out of the driveway. I turned around and looked at him. He looked a lot older than he did the last time I saw him. He was already almost 60, but he looked much older. He turned and smiled at me as he drove. He still had the bald head, the wire frame glasses, and the grey goatee. He also now had deep lines in his face and looked much thinner than before. "You look like you've grown a bit since you moved here! I guess the sunshine is doing you good!" Dad said. "Actually it rains quite a lot here, usually at least once a day." "The fresh squeezed orange juice is good for you too!" He chuckled. As usual, he wasn't listening to a word I was saying. "I hear your grades are good as always." He said. "Yeah, mostly A's." I said. "Well if you work harder you'll get all A's. I want to see you apply yourself to that goal. Remember, my boy, exceptionalism, exceptionalism. " He said. We drove some more in silence. "So, Byron, old chap. You're going to have to help an old out of towner make his way around this strange city!" He said. "Ok, where do you want to go?" I asked. "I was thinking we could go somewhere to eat!" He said. "I would hope that a friendly local such as yourself will have the kindness to show me to a Board and Banquet of high esteem, good sir!" I was starting to remember why I couldn't stand being around Dad for too long. I gave him some directions that steered him back into the general area of where I lived. I then had us stop at the Pollo Cubano, which was actually not to far from my house. I got the mofongo and a big lemonade and Dad got a quarter chicken with rice and black beans and a mojito. The whole time he kept asking me the same questions over and over again about school and sports and crap. I finally had to get off what I had to get off of my chest. "Dad, how come you refused visitation rights?" I suddenly blurted out. Dad cleared his throat and dropped his fork into his rice. He picked it up and for some reason started wiping it off with a napkin. Dad always did that and it was so annoying. He would wipe his fork or spoon off with a napkin every time it would touch his mouth, or touch food, or both. "Why have you chosen to believe that I refused visitation rights?" He asked. "In the divorce, all you asked for was the house. That was all! You never once asked for any kind of visitation for me, ever!" I exclaimed. "I was doing what you're mother wished, Byron. You have to understand, 'twas I whom ended the marriage, not her. It is important that all of her wishes within reason, be honored in high regard!" He then chuckled to himself, took a pipe and some tobacco out of his pocket, and began filling it up at the table. "Speaking of visitation, since you have decided to broach that subject, Byron..." He looked up disapprovingly at me from packing his pipe, and then looked back down. "One of the purposes of my visit is to invite you to stay with me over the Christmas holidays at my apartment back in Towson." "Oh, yeah, I guess that's cool. Thanks Dad. What about Mom, though?" I asked. "She'll be staying back home in Illinois with your Grandmother." He said as he lit up his pipe. My mom was from Champagne, Illinois originally, and all of her family still lived there. My dad was originally from Philadelphia. "I guess it'll be cool to see home again." I said. Dad was smiling at me as he drew on his pipe. "It'll be good to see you back home, too." He said. We sat and talked for a bit. We then went to see a movie and I wound up at home a little after 10:00. Dad stayed in town a couple more days, and we hung out until he flew out on Saturday afternoon. It was good seeing him again but it was also good to see him go. Mom had fallen into a deep depression that took her days to break out of after he left. That Monday morning, I got to school in a good mood and sat down at my desk. I saw Adam sitting there and gave him a big hello. He only smiled at me a little and seemed depressed about something. During math I passed him a note. "What's wrong?" I wrote. "I'll tell you during recess." He wrote back. During lunch I sat across from Adam and gazed worriedly at him. He was quiet and unusually withdrawn. I was starting to really wonder what was the matter with him. When recess finally rolled around, I went to our spot on the hill and sat down. Adam came along a few seconds later and sat down next to me. "So what's happening?" I asked. "Mom and Gerald are getting married. They're getting married on Thanksgiving. Gerald has rented a big cathedral in St. Augustine." He said. "Uhhh...Oh... well, congratulations!" I said. "Congratulations for what?" Adam replied testily. "Congratulations that your mom is getting married!" I said. "I hate it." He said as he buried his face between his knees. "Well, look on the bright side. You'll be rich..." "Who cares?" He said. "Your mom will be happy." I said. "I hope so." He replied. I wanted to change the subject so I told him about my dad visiting. "So yeah, we cleared the air kind of about that custody thing I mentioned." I said. Adam looked up at me from his knees. "Really? What did he say?" Adam asked. "He said it was all Mom's idea. I don't know, it might be the truth or it might not be. I'm not going to worry about it anymore." I said. Adam smiled at me. "That's good to hear, Buyer." He said. "He also said I'm going to be spending the holidays back in Towson with him." I said a little bit sadly. "Yeah, Gerald says we're all going to Cancun sometime after the wedding, we'll be gone for the holidays plus for a week of school." Adam said. "Awww man!" I said. "It sounds like we might be apart for a while. That's going to suck!" I said. Adam smiled. "Well we have a lot of time until then!" He said. I smiled and I almost leaned over and kissed him, but I stopped myself just in time. We then heard a crash of thunder and Mrs. Tronik blowing her whistle to signify recess being over. A popcorn Florida thunderstorm was bearing down on us and we were all being rushed indoors. Adam and I then got up and melted into the herd of kids rushing into the school building and into shelter, away from the storm clouds on the horizon.
