Date: Thu, 31 Mar 2005 17:32:02 -0500 From: Jeff Wilson Subject: W.A.R. Part 6, Chapter 19 W.A.R. Part Six - Commencement Chapter Nineteen -- Prom Night by Jeff Wilson "So let it be written, so let it be done... to kill the first born Pharaoh's son... I'm Creeping Death!" "Oh, a Metallica song with a religious message." Mom interrupted as I combed my hair. "DIE! DIE! BY MY HAND!! I CREEP ACROSS THE LAND! KILLING FIRST BORN MAN!!!" The song played. "Or maybe not..." Mom said. "You should have heard "Fade to Black" earlier." I said. "It encouraged me to kill myself." Mom sighed. "So... Tonight's the big night, huh?" "I guess." I said. "Mary is going to be so lucky to go with the most handsome boy in the school." Mom said way too happily. "Right." I said. I was beginning to wish I'd never told her anything about it. She hadn't been so happy about my life in years. "Did you buy her some flowers with that money I gave you?" "No, I bought condoms for later on tonight." I replied. "Oh... Well... At least you're being careful..." Mom said, nervously. "I'm just kidding, mom. I never use condoms. I bought flowers." "Billy... What am I going to do with you? You do have protection don't you? In case things..." "Mom, eww. I'm not going to have sex tonight. I'm just going to this stupid thing because everybody else is. You don't want to have a dork for a son do you?" "There's nothing wrong with being a 'dork,' Billy. I know that sometimes the boys might make fun of you because you're smart. You just ignore them. They're just jealous." "Thank you very much, mother." I said sarcastically. "Gee, maybe the boys might make fun of me because my mom told the whole town I'm gay, too." I said as I struggled to put my tie on. "Well at least that's over now." Mom said. "Just because I broke up doesn't mean I'm not gay anymore, mom." I said, pulling the tie the wrong way and having it end up looking like a noose. "Fuck, what the hell is wrong with this stupid thing?" "Language, William Aaron!! Hold still." Mom stepped behind me and undid the mess I'd made of my tie. "Your father couldn't do this either. You know, this is the first time you've gone out on a real date." "Actually, it's the first time I've gone out on a fake date." I replied. "I only asked her because I knew no one else would have." Mom finished tying my tie and stepped back. "There. All straightened out." "You wish." I said. "You should wear a tie more often. If you're going to be a lawyer like you said, you're going to need to wear one a lot." "Dad never wore a tie." I said. "No, he hated wearing ties. He'd have married me in jeans and a flannel shirt if he could have." "So... You're really going to let me borrow Dave's car?" I asked. "Just be careful." "It's just... I've never borrowed anything of his before." I said. "All you ever had to do was ask. He really likes you, you know." "Well, I've been so lovable." I said. Just then, Dave walked into my room. "You all ready to go, Bill?" He held out the keys to his car and I quickly snatched them out of his hand. I felt a surge of excitement fill me. "You do know how to handle a standard, right?" "Dad's truck was a standard." I said. "But it wasn't a Grand Am." "Same principle. Both have a ton of power. But this is a different kind of power, of course." "And if you get a ticket, you're dead." Mom said. I slipped on my suit jacket and checked myself out in the mirror. "Hmmm... I'd fuck me." I said. "William Aaron Roberts!!" Mom scolded. I laughed and retrieved the flowers I'd bought earlier in the day. "Now Billy... You listen to me. I know Mrs. Caldwell. I know Mary. I know that you that you might not think that this is a big deal, but she does. You had better treat that girl right. Show her a good time, and if you hurt that wonderful girl..." "Mom, she knows the deal. She knows I'm not into girls. I made no promises. She knows I'm not interested in anything besides this one dance. After tonight, things are back to normal." "Normal..." Mom sighed. "Well, I'm ready to go. Hey, thanks for the money." I said. "Just have fun." Dave said. "Don't wreck the car, but have fun." "Okay." I said. I walked with mom and Dave behind me to the car, parked in the garage. Dave gave me some helpful hints for driving it, and before long, I was on the way. I drove around for a little bit, since I didn't get the chance to drive Dave's car, well, ever. I couldn't help but think how much fun it would have been to have Brett along with me. Anyway, I took it down to the interstate and had a little fun before heading back to town to pick up Mary. I arrived at her house right at four o'clock and knocked on the door. Mrs. Caldwell greeted me. "Billy! Come on in. Mary will be ready soon." I walked inside and Mrs. Caldwell offered me a Coke. She led me to the living room, where Mr. Caldwell was sitting watching tv. I realized quickly where Mary got her... size. Mr. Caldwell looked to be well over three hundred pounds himself. And Mrs. Caldwell was larger than Dustin's mom had been at the peak of her weight problems. Mrs. Caldwell left to help Mary get ready and I was left with Mr. Caldwell. "So, you're Billy Roberts?" Mr. Caldwell asked. "Yeah." I said. "I thought you were queer." He said. "That's the rumor." I said. "So what are you doing going out with Mary, then?" "Well sir," I said, trying to tell the truth in a nice way. "I... I wanted to give Mary a good time." "She's never mentioned you before except to say that you were kissing the Reilly boy in the hallway one day and that you're supposed to be pretty smart." "Well, we're not really friends, per se. I mean, she's always been nice to me and all..." "So are you just trying to take advantage of my daughter, kid?" "Sir, all I'm doing is giving her a chance to go do something fun instead of sitting here all night wishing she was at that dance. And besides, you won't have to worry about me taking advantage of her." Mr. Caldwell laughed. "I guess not." Then he lowered his voice. "You have no idea how happy you've made my little girl. It's hard for her to... you know... to get out sometimes..." "That's part of why I asked her, Mr. Caldwell." I said. "So, why does a boy your age still go by Billy? Shouldn't you be just Bill by now?" "I hate the name 'Bill.'" I said. "Why?" I laughed. "I don't know, it's just... ordinary. Besides, I've just always been Billy. If anything, I'd just go by William. That's my name, after all." Mr. Caldwell laughed. "Well, William, I hope that my daughter won't be disappointed tonight." "Here she is." Mrs. Caldwell said. Mary walked behind her. She looked good, actually. Her hair was done nicely and she was wearing a dark blue dress. "Wow... Mary, you look great!" I said. "Thank you, Billy." She said. "Dad, you didn't give him the third degree, did you? I told you to leave him alone." "William and I had a nice chat." Mr. Caldwell said, smiling at us. "William?" Mary said, curiously. "Oh, you mean Billy. Well, you ready to go?" "Ummm... Yeah." I said. "Well, let's get this over with." She said. "No. Wait." Mrs. Caldwell said. "We have to get pictures!" "Oh come on mother!" Mary said. But Mrs. Caldwell was undeterred and proceeded to take about 50 pictures of us before we were able to get out the door. When we got to the car, I opened the door for her. "Flowers?" She asked, noticing the flowers I'd left on the seat. "My mom told me to get them for you." I said. "She said I couldn't let you go without them." "Well tell her thank you." Mary said as she sat in the passenger seat. "That was very nice." I closed the door and walked around to the driver's seat. We buckled in and were on our way. "So, where are we going to go?" "Rush's Diner." I said. "It's my favorite place in town. It's Bobby Rush's mom's place. You know Bobby, right?" "The big guy who always had his hands in his pockets?" Mary asked. "Oh... Yeah... That's funny. I'd forgotten about that. Of course, I can see why he'd never want to leave it alone. Heck if mine was like that I'd... Oh... Sorry." Mary laughed nervously. "You and Bobby never..." It was my turn to laugh. "Me and Bobby? Oh heck no. Bobby's straight as an arrow. No, the only guy I've been with is Brett." "And you guys have been together for how long now?" "Well, we're not together anymore." "Why not?" She asked. "We just needed some space. We'd been together since ninth grade, you know. That's a long time." "What made you decide to split up?" "Nothin'. We just did." "Was he out doing it with other guys or something?" "No!" I said quickly. "Were you?" I sighed. "We just... We weren't getting along lately. We fought all the time. It wasn't working out." "Shame... He's very cute, you know. You don't know how many girls were jealous that you got him." "What girls?" I asked. "Well, Sarah for one." "Sarah Taylor? No way!" "Oh, she was furious when she found out you two were together." We arrived at Mrs. Rush's Diner and continued our conversation after we had been seated. Mrs. Rush herself took our order, as she always did when I'd go there with Brett. "So, who else is gay at our school?" Mary asked. "I don't know." I replied. "Don't you guys have some sort of sixth sense about that kind of thing? Like gaydar or something?" "Gaydar? That's just a rumor." I said. Actually, there were quite a few names I could have given her, but I wouldn't want people talking about me, so it didn't seem fair to talk about them. "Well, I've heard a few rumors. Everybody knows about Miss Winston, of course." "Of course." I replied. "I've heard Mr. Hartley is too." "Mr. Hartley? No fucking way! He's been torturing me ever since..." "Ever since you came out." Mary completed my sentence. "You're not the only one who noticed that. Hillary thinks that he only does it because he doesn't want people to know that he's gay. Overcompensating." "Well Hillary is an idiot." I replied. "And Mr. Hartley's an asshole." "Apparently a very willing one, too." Mary quipped. I couldn't help but laugh. "You're good." I said. "Well, it's about time somebody noticed." She said. "Mary... You know... You don't have to sit by yourself at lunch. I mean, if you wanted, you could come sit with us." "That's nice of you to say, Billy. But really, do you think Emily Barnhart would want to sit with someone like me?" "Em's great!" I replied. "She would love for you to come sit with us." "Well, maybe. So, why do you sit with Dustin Smith?" "Because he's my best friend." I replied. "He's kind of weird, isn't he?" "Yeah. I guess he is." "Did he really try to kill himself?" "That's why he's got those scars on his wrists." I said. "Wow. I thought so. You should hear what they say about him." Mary whispered. "What do they say?" I asked. Mary whispered even lower. "They say his dad molested him. They say that he made Dustin do things... Really sick things... That's why his parents got divorced and his dad went to jail." We were interrupted when our food arrived. Our conversation continued through the meal. "So, is it true?" "Is what true?" I asked. "Is that what happened to him?" "People shouldn't say things like that about people." I replied. "Dustin's cool. He's weird, but he's cool." "I heard he doesn't have sex with Emily, but he does it with some older guy." I practically choked when she said that. "Where did you get that from?" "Samantha Miller said she saw Dustin over at some computer shop and that her brother who's gay said that the guy at the computer shop had sex with him one time and that the computer guy is like always out at clubs and stuff." "Wow." I said. I was going to definitely have a talk with Mike sometime about that! "So, is he gay?" "Who? Mike?" I asked. "No, Dustin!" She explained. "Oh... No. I don't think he is. Like I said, he's weird. But I don't think he's gay." After we ate, we continued our conversation in the car. "So, why'd you and Brett break up?" She asked. "I told you, we just did." "Nobody just breaks up. What did he do?" "He left me stranded in Erie." I replied. "You went to Erie?" "It's a long story. We got into a big fight up there and he left me there. It cost me fifty dollars to get home." "Why'd he leave you?" "Because he's a jerk." I replied. Mary laughed. "Nobody leaves someone two hundred miles from home without a reason. What did you do?" I sighed. "I kissed another guy. A little. I didn't mean to do it. We didn't do anything sexual. Well, except we felt each other a little bit. But it didn't mean anything." Mary laughed again. "What would you do if I felt you right now?" I looked at her in surprise, before quickly turning back to the road. "Well, I'd be a little shocked, quite frankly." "See? It means something. You should have been begging for forgiveness." "You should mind your own business." "I'm the revenge date, Billy. You made it my business." We arrived at the country club and got to stand in line for a while so that the school could make money getting pictures taken that they would charge us more than what the tickets cost. After going through yet another round of picture taking, we walked into the ballroom area and found Dustin and Emily. "Mary," Emily said. "You look fantastic." "Not as good as you." Mary replied. Dustin was dressed in a tux with a red bow tie. I ribbed him a little bit. "I thought we weren't going to go in a tux." I accused. "She made me." Dustin laughed. "You even got your hair cut." I said. "Maybe I wanted to look nice." Dustin replied. "It looks good. You look great." I said. "Don't get too close!" Dustin laughed. "We've got the homo patrol out in force tonight." I looked around and sure enough, there was Mr. Hartley. He was standing by the wall, looking around for trouble. I saw a few other teachers here and there. I saw the principal and superintendent as well. Then I saw Mr. Taylor chatting with them. "What's he doing here?" I asked angrily. "You didn't think he'd miss this, did you? What with his precious little girl being here tonight." Emily replied. I looked around and saw Sarah was with some boy I'd never seen before. "Who's that?" I asked. "I think it's her cousin." Mary laughed. "He's too cute to be related to her." I replied. "He is cute, though." Mary said. "He's gay." I said nonchalantly. "How do you know?" Mary asked. "Gaydar." I said, pointing to my head. Mary laughed. I looked around at all of the people who were gathered there. I'd never seen my classmates looking so good. "He's not here yet." Mary said. "Oh? I hadn't noticed." I lied. I stopped looking around the room and found myself looking at the door every few seconds. We talked for a while as we waited for the dinner to begin. I was already full from going to Mrs. Rush's place, but I'd find room. The time was getting later and later and Brett still hadn't shown up. I was beginning to think he wasn't going to come. "Holy shit!" Dustin suddenly exclaimed. "What?" I asked, turning to look toward the door. "It's my sister!" Dustin explained. And sure enough, there at the door was Amanda Smith, dressed in a black dress. She looked outstanding. She'd lost even more weight and her auburn hair was done up. And then he walked up beside her on his crutches. "Oh my god... He didn't..." I said. "He brought your sister to the prom?" Emily asked, just as stunned as we were. Brett looked awesome. He was wearing a tux with a black tie. He had his cast mostly covered up with his pant leg. He was clean shaven and had a fresh haircut. He looked around the room and when he saw me our eyes locked for a few seconds, then he smirked a little before heading to his table. "I can't believe he brought her." Dustin said, still staring. "I'm going over there." "No you're not!" Emily said. "You're going to sit here and have a good time." "That fucking dickhead." Dustin mumbled. The principal welcomed everyone and reminded us that we were representing our school and that the discipline policy would be enforced. Then I swear he looked directly at me and reminded us that any 'funny business' would be met with stiff penalties. Then he told us to have a good time. We had a nice dinner, even though Dustin and I were constantly looking across the room where Brett and Amanda were chatting merrily with Brett's friends. Mary and Emily became fast friends, which made me quite happy. Mary was a neat girl, and I wished that I'd realized that long before. "They're mocking me." Dustin said. "No they're not. Just let her have a good time." Emily scolded. "No. She had her chance to go to her prom two years ago. She didn't do it. Now she wants to ruin mine!" I looked over to see them laughing and having such fun. Amanda was radiant with laughter. Then she kissed Brett on the cheek. "Billy..." Emily said. But it was too late. I was already out of my chair and heading toward the bathroom. I walked in and slammed the door behind me. Then I paced for a little while. I looked into the mirror above the sinks, and there was William Roberts looking back at me. I put my hands on the sink and looked into the eyes of the guy in the mirror. My hands balled into tight fists as I stared. "I'm such a fucking idiot..." I said aloud. After a few minutes Dustin opened the door. "You okay?" He asked. "I just..." I started. I couldn't say what I wanted. "He's a jerk. Just ignore him, okay." "I mean, it's like he doesn't even care. I've never seen him look so happy since we broke up." "Come back and eat with us." Dustin said. "I shouldn't have come here." I said. I did go back with Dustin though. We ate dessert and then there were some prom events that we had to go through. Bobby Rush got prom king and Sarah Taylor somehow got prom queen. Funny, I don't even remember voting... After a while, they began clearing tables to make a dance floor. A lot of people went outside. Dustin and I were going to head out for some air ourselves, but we were stopped on the way. "Gentlemen." "Mr. Hartley." We replied. "And where is Mr. Reilly? Oh... That's right. He's with your sister, right Mr. Smith?" "I guess so." Dustin said. "Well... How convenient for you. I would have hated to see our best and brightest tossed out for disobeying school rules." Mr. Hartley said smugly. He walked away to talk with Mr. Taylor. "I hate him." Dustin grumbled. "Let's just get some air." I said. We walked out onto the patio and looked out over the balcony for a while. Inside, the music began. Most of the kids who had been waiting for the dancing to begin headed inside. Before long, the sounds of kids having a blast flowed from the ballroom. Every time the doors opened, the sound would blast out of the building. I kept checking to see who it was, and Dustin and I had friendly conversations with many of the people who had escaped the fun for a few minutes of quiet. Soon, we were alone. "Billy..." "Yeah?" I said, leaning against the railing of the balcony looking out. "I got accepted to Cal." He said. "Really? That's great Dusty! You still going to major in computers?" "Computer Science. Yeah." "That's great! Are you going to commute?" "Yeah. Money... What are you going to do?" "Well, I was going to go with Brett to Pittsburgh. But we haven't talked about it at all since we broke up." "Yeah..." Dustin said. He leaned against the rail with me, looking out at the golf course. "It's beautiful here, isn't it?" "I guess. If you like golf." I replied. "I've never been golfing. Well, my dad took me mini-golfing once." "You win?" I asked. "I threw the game. If I'd have beat my dad he'd have been a jerk about it. 'Think you're better than your old man, huh?' I never beat him at anything." "I beat my dad at cards all the time after he showed me how to play properly." "You mean cheat." Dustin said. "It's not cheating. It's just using your head." "Well maybe if you used your head more often you wouldn't have to cheat." Brett said from behind us. Dustin and I both jumped from surprise and turned around to face him. "I didn't hear you come out." I said. "Well, after watching Mary and Emily sitting there talking for almost an hour, I figured somebody had better rescue Dustin from getting dumped tonight." "Oh fuck! Has it really been an hour?" Dustin asked. Brett nodded. Dustin started to leave but then stopped. "Wait a minute. What about your date, you son of a bitch?" Brett smiled. "Oh..." "What the hell do you think you're doing bringing her here? Are you that determined to piss me off?" "To piss you off?" Brett asked. "Actually, I asked her because I know she didn't go to hers. I asked her if she wanted the chance to do something that she never got to do before. I was surprised she said yes. She's having a great time. She knew a lot of people in our class, actually." Dustin squinted at him. "You're not that noble. What's the real reason?" Brett laughed. "Your girlfriend is waiting." Dustin turned slowly and walked to the door, leaving Brett and me alone. Brett set his crutches to the side and leaned over the railing with me. We stood there for a while not saying anything, just leaning on our elbows looking out over the lawn. "That was nice what you did." I said. "Nah. I just did it to piss him off." Brett admitted. I laughed. "You're terrible." I turned to look at him and for the first time in almost a month we smiled together. "Billy... I want you to have this." Brett handed me a handful of money. "What's this?" "Fifty bucks." Brett replied. "Oh?" I asked. "Yeah. I shouldn't have left you in Erie. I'm really sorry." "It wasn't the money that I was angry about." I said. "I know. I had a lot of time to think lately. Sitting at home, alone... Waiting for the phone to ring, waiting for you to knock on the door... I missed you." "I thought you didn't want to see me." "So did I... But I was stupid." "But you always looked happy every time I saw you." "I've never been more miserable in my life, Billy. Why do you think everybody was always trying to cheer me up?" "Is that what was happening?" I asked. "It seemed like anytime I saw you, you were laughing with people." "That's because they were trying to make me feel better. I thought I could be happy without you. Boy, that was dumb." "I shouldn't have lied to you." I said. "It wasn't your fault." Brett replied. "Yes it was. You know I'm always going to be Dustin's friend, even if you hate him." "I don't hate him. I shouldn't have said that. I was just mad." "Well, either way, I should have just told you what happened. Please believe me, I didn't mean to do what I did. But it did happen and I'm sorry. I thought I was stronger than that." "Billy, I know that all you did was kiss him and that other thing. And yes, it really hurt me that you didn't tell me everything that happened. But I shouldn't have called you a lying fucking asshole. I mean, I told you to lie when we went up to Buffalo. I should have told the truth right away to my dad, too." "I'm sorry, Brett. For everything. I've been an immature idiot for a while now. Can you forgive me?" "Can you forgive me for being a jerk and leaving you on the side of the road and for blaming you for something you didn't do?" I leaned toward him and he leaned toward me. My eyes closed and I felt the warm soft lips of my boyfriend on my lips for the first time in almost a month. My hand found the nape of his neck and gently brushed through his hair. We separated and looked into each other's eyes. "I'm sorry." Brett said softly. "Me too." I replied. "Want to start over?" He asked. "No." I said. "I don't think we should." "No?" Brett asked. "No. I think we should always remember how miserable we were this month. I think we should always remember how much it hurts to hurt each other. Maybe then we won't be so stupid the next time." "Agreed. So, we're back together again?" "I never want to be apart again." I replied, kissing him again. Wow, I missed kissing him. I wanted to spend the rest of my life kissing him. "I love you so much, Billy." "Not as much as I love you." I replied. Brett laughed and tugged on my tie. "Now all we need is for Amanda to come out here and call us a couple of fags." "I don't think I'd ever hear something so beautiful. I'm proud to be a couple of fags. Listen." "What?" "The music. This song's almost over. Come on." "What? Why? Wait, Let me get my crutches." "Leave them. Take my hand." I said. Brett looked back at his crutches and then at me. I put my hand out and he took it. He leaned against me and we slowly walked toward the door. I opened it and we walked into the ballroom together. Brett started to lead me to where Amanda was sitting with Mary, but I pulled him gently in the other direction. "What are you doing?" He asked. "Come on. They'll play a slow song next." I said. "Are you insane? What about the rule? You'll lose your class rank." "Fuck the rules, and fuck valedictorian. I'm going to dance with you. And anyone who doesn't like it can go to hell. Now come on." The music changed, and sure enough a slow song started. I pulled Brett along through the tables and onto the dance floor. He held on to me to keep his balance after being on crutches for so long. I just closed my eyes and held on to him. Brett rested his head on my shoulder and wrapped his arms around my neck. We didn't move a lot, we just kind of stood there and swayed to the music. "What is this song?" Brett asked. "The Reason." I replied. "I like it." Brett said. "It's not bad. I never thought my first dance with you would be to a Hoobastank song." Brett laughed. "You'd have had us dancing to Drowning Pool. This is better." I don't think I could have ever loved him more than I did at that moment. The song ended, and there was silence. Which was weird in a room full of kids. I opened my eyes to find that Brett and I were in the middle of a ring of people. "Umm..." I said, smiling at the people, some of whom were nodding and smiling proudly at us. The next song started, a dance song. The ring of people began to break up as kids began dancing. And that's when Mr. Taylor and the principal walked up to us. "Nice little display, boys." Mr. Taylor said. "You just earned yourselves a couple of suspensions, I think." "That's good." Brett replied. "Because if you do anything to hurt Billy, or me, you'll earn yourself a big fat lawsuit." "And who would take a case like that in this community?" The principal asked. "My step-mother." Brett replied. It was hilarious to watch the smile slowly fade from Mr. Taylor's lips. "You don't have a step mother, Reilly." The principal mocked. "And I didn't have a father until last month either. But I have both now. So why don't you let me dance with my boyfriend and stay the fuck out of our lives?" Mr. Taylor scowled menacingly. "This isn't over boys." Then they walked away. As soon as they had gone, Brett and I started dancing together again. I had to hold him up for a while, but eventually, he was moving pretty good on his own. And every so often, someone would come up to us and say that they were proud that we'd broken that stupid same-sex rule. A couple of boys ended up dancing together near us as well and everybody had a fantastic time. Everybody except for Sarah Taylor, who looked absolutely miserable. I danced with Mary and Brett danced with Amanda for a while. Then we switched and I danced with Amanda while Brett danced with Mary. I don't think I've ever laughed and had so much fun as I did that night. In the parking lot, Brett handed Amanda his car keys. Amanda agreed to take Mary home and I was supposed to pick up the car at Dustin's house sometime the next day. But in the meantime, I was going to drive Brett home. Before we left, I asked to talk with Mary. "Mary, I can't thank you enough for coming along with me tonight." I said. "Billy, I should be thanking you. I made some new friends tonight. I had so much fun. And I got to see the most beautiful moment of our school year. You boys belong together. I'm glad things worked out, Billy. Good night." Mary kissed me on the cheek and walked toward Brett's car with Amanda. I walked to the Grand Am where Brett was waiting. "We lost our dates." Brett laughed. "I think we'll manage." "Where'd ol' Dustin go?" He asked. "To the after-party." I explained. "You want to go?" He asked. "Not really. I just want to go home." "Oh? Tired?" "No... Not yet anyway." I smiled. "Well, are you sure that you don't want to go to my house for a while?" "No." I replied. Brett looked disappointed as he sat in the passenger seat. "Well... It's just... We haven't done anything for a month. I mean, I could blow you on the way home." "Why don't you wait and blow me on my bed?" I asked. "But I'm not allowed in your house." Brett said. "You remember what I said in there? Fuck the rules. And fuck anybody who's going to stop me from making love to you in my bed tonight." We drove back to my house and parked the car back in the garage. We got out I pressed Brett against the car and started kissing him over and over again. "I love you." I said between kisses. "Let's get to your room." Brett said. We opened the door into the house and I was still trying to slip in kisses when David walked into the room. "Well how did it... go? Oh... Hello Brett." "Hey Dave." I said. "Mom go to work?" "Yes... Well... This is kind of what I expected." "What are you going to do?" I asked. "I'm going to take the car out for a ride. I missed it while you were out. But Bill, don't let your mother know. Good night." Dave smiled at us and then went out to the garage. Brett and I went to my room. I locked the door behind me. Brett was standing by my bed, looking around the room. "It's been a while." He said. "The place looks just like I remember." "God, I missed you, Brett." I walked to him and hugged him from behind, just feeling him in my arms. Brett leaned his head back and rested against my shoulder. I kissed him on his neck. "That feels good." Brett said. I kissed my way up to his ear. "You looked awesome tonight. I was so fucking jealous when you walked through the door looking like that tonight." "Mom made me get a haircut. I see yours didn't." Brett ran his fingers through my hair. "I love it like this. You should let it grow more often. You always keep it short. I like it when it's more blond." I started unbuttoning his shirt. "I wouldn't want to let it go like I did last year." "No, not like last year." Brett replied. "Just like you have it now. I like having a hot blond boyfriend." "And I like have a hot Irish boyfriend with the bluest eyes and the sexiest voice on the planet." Brett turned to face me and I finished unbuttoning his shirt. "Nice tie." Brett said. He hooked his finger on my tie and slowly tugged it until it came undone. I removed his suit coat and tossed it onto my computer chair. Brett started unbuttoning my dress shirt while I untucked his undershirt. Brett finished unbuttoning and pulled both my dress shirt and undershirt up over my head and tossed them on the floor. "You wore your necklace tonight." Brett said. "I never took it off." I said, pulling his shirt off him. "Me neither." Brett replied. Sure enough, there it was dangling around his neck. Brett slid onto my bed and I followed. We sat together for a while, just kissing gently and softly caressing each other's chest and shoulders. My hands found Brett's belt and I began unbuckling it. Brett loosened my belt as well. I gave my pants a tug and slipped out of them so that I was left in my socks and briefs. Brett's pants were more difficult, as I had to slip them past his cast. But before too long I had him in his boxers. We continued kissing and feeling each other for the first time in a month. Brett sort of leaned back while I sat up on my knees and just enjoyed his presence with me. My hand slipped down to his boxers. Brett lifted his backside up and that was all the motivation I needed to slide his boxers down his legs. I pulled them off him and tossed them over the side of the bed. Then, my left hand rubbed his cheek while my right hand slid up his thigh to his privates. I massaged his balls while we kissed. Brett broke off our kiss and laid back spread eagle. I kissed my way down his chest, to his belly button, and down that trail of hair to his dick. Brett leaned back up on his elbows while I held his dick in my hand and went down on him. "Oh shit." Brett whimpered. My tongue made circles around the head of his dick, and then I put him all the way into my mouth, feeling him press against the back of my throat. Then I licked him all up and down and around his dick. Brett's fingers entwined in my hair as he sat upright and moaned appreciatively while I enjoyed his body. I pushed him onto his back and started massaging his balls while I worked on his dick. Brett's hand found its way into my underwear and he massaged my ass while I continued to give him the blow of his life. I pulled myself away from his privates and went back to kissing his lips while he removed my underwear from me. I slipped my socks off with my toes and then the last of the clothes was gone. There was nothing to separate me from my Brett. Now it was my turn to sit back as Brett kissed and sucked on my belly. Then I felt his lips on my dick. "God I missed this." I said while stroking his back. Brett's tongue poked and prodded at my dick. He didn't take me into his mouth, he just licked and sucked all over me, especially on the v-shaped underside of my dickhead. Brett rested his hand on my calf, and I reached over him and stroked his dick while he sucked mine. When he stopped sucking me and brought his lips to mine, I maneuvered him onto his back and straddled his leg with mine. I just wanted to feel his body in contact with mine. He laid back and I kissed his lips while stroking his belly. Brett slipped his hand behind me and for a while we just gently kissed and enjoyed each other's body without even worrying about our dicks for a while. Every moment didn't have to be concerned about six inches of each other when there was so much of our bodies that we wanted to explore. We ended up sitting up on the bed after a while. My left leg under his right leg, and my right leg over his left. Brett gently rubbed our dicks together with his hand. Our balls gently bounced and banged together between us. Brett leaned back and smiled at me. He was soooo cute! How could someone who was unbearably cute when he was dressed be even more cute when he was naked? It seemed impossible! Brett kept rubbing our dicks, but he stopped kissing my lips and started on my nipple. He kissed and licked and sucked on one for a while, then gently held it in his teeth. I inhaled sharply. "Ah... Ah... That's good. God is that good..." "Wanna suck each other at the same time?" Brett asked. "Fuck yeah." I said. We untangled our legs, Brett's cast proving much easier to maneuver than it used to be. His leg was much stronger now. Brett shifted his body down the bed, and I swung around so that my legs were toward the head of the bed. We kissed again (I just couldn't stop!) before taking each other's dick into our mouths. I closed my eyes and just enjoyed feeling the warm vacuum on my dick while my own mouth was filled with my lover's stiff organ. My hands slipped behind him and grabbed two handfuls of Brett's butt. Brett giggled with my dick in his mouth which actually felt pretty neat. My fingers slid into his crack. Brett stopped sucking me and propped himself up on his elbows again. I propped my head up and lay on my side, looking up at him. "Wanna do me?" Brett asked. "Um... Let me think about that." I said. "Duh!!" Brett smiled brightly at me again, and that was all the motivation I needed. "I love it when you smile like that." I said. "I love it when you make me smile." Brett replied. He flipped over onto his hands and knees. "Well come on. Get your dick in my butt." I flipped over and quickly found my lube in my night table. I flicked open the cap and covered my dick with it. I put some on Brett's crack as well. "No fingers. Just fuck me, Billy." I didn't need to be told twice. I put my right hand on his back and lined up my dick with my left. Brett pushed back with his ass and I found myself sinking easily into him. Brett pushed back and forth a few times and then I popped out of him. I lined back up and pushed myself in up to my balls. We started out slowly, but built up to a nice rhythm. Brett's butt slapped against my hips, and my balls ricocheted repeatedly against him. Brett turned to look up at me while I was feeling his insides. There was that smile again. I put both hands on his butt and gave him some very hard thrusts. He rested his head on the bed and reached to lock his fingers with mine. As he breathed heavier and heavier, I began to moan softly as I pounded him. Brett released my hands and propped himself up on his hands and knees again. "Oh... Ugh... God that feels great, Billy." He whispered. Brett slammed his butt against me even harder until I slipped out again. "Fuck." I said crossly. "That's the idea." Brett replied. "Don't worry about it, you're out of practice. Just put it back in me." I reinserted my dick into him. Then I got off my knees and onto my haunches. I wrapped my arms around him and let Brett support our weight while I fucked him. I slipped my hand under him and found his dick. I jacked him while I pounded him. "My leg... Ow... My leg went numb. Stop." Brett said. I pushed myself off him and pulled out. Brett laid on his side and stretched. "Shit. I'm sorry." He said, rubbing his knee. "It's okay." I said. "I'm not done yet. Fuck, you're amazing, Billy. I just need a minute." "I've got all night and nowhere else I'd rather be." I replied. "You definitely need to top more often. I love having you inside me." "Your leg feel better?" I asked. "Yeah, but now something's wrong with my ass." "What's wrong now?" I asked. "My boyfriend's not in it." Brett laughed. He laid down on his side and lifted his good leg. "Come on, let's try that spooning thing again. I lay down beside him and entered him again. "That's the way. Just like that." Brett said. The new position was a little harder, but much more relaxed after what we'd done earlier. It was tougher to get a good rhythm, but Brett seemed to enjoy it even more than he had before, moaning softly with pleasure as I filled him. "I love you, William Aaron." Brett said softly. "I love you more, Anthony Brett." I whispered in his ear as I came inside him. "You just blew your load didn't you?" "Uh huh." "Felt awesome, Billy. I love when you do that. Ready for me to do you?" Brett rolled onto his back and I started to climb on top of him when he stopped me. "Oh no no... Not like that again. Get on your back, bud." I laughed and got on my back. Brett got on his knees and pushed my legs back. Brett lined up his dick with my hole. "Did you think you were going to end up fucking me when you went to the prom tonight?" Brett asked as he slid inside me. "I told my mom I wasn't going to have sex tonight. Shows what I know." I said, feeling my lover's hips gently touch my upturned ass. "Does it feel good?" "Perfect." I replied "Fast or slow?" He asked. "Fast. You cum too quick when you go slow." I replied. "I won't. I want to go slow." Brett smiled as he slowly slid all the way in and out of me. He leaned down to kiss me. I rested my feet on his butt and felt the muscles flex and relax as he filled me. My hands tangled in Brett's sweat soaked hair. Brett groaned with pleasure and I felt his warmth fill me. "I told you..." I started, but Brett's lips met mine and any thought of reminding him that he came too quickly when he went slow evaporated. * * * * * * * * * * Okay, as nice as that is, that's not the ending of the story! There's three more chapters to go. But for now, that's all there is. This chapter is my new favorite! All of the storylines of the story are coming together nicely. Billy is at his very best here. Billy was never the most courageous person, making up for his fear with his fiery temper. But now, he's more aggressive in getting what he wants, and the temper isn't needed as his crutch. He's toughening up, holding his own against his mom now without resorting to yelling. I thought his conversation with Mary was very good. He's not afraid anymore. It's more of a "Yeah, I'm gay. So what?" attitude. In other words, our little Billy is growing up! Through all the fighting, I had the moment at the dance in mind. I've been reading many of your worries about how the boys would turn out, unable to give you any hint of what was to come. I didn't want to spoil the moment for you. So much of what has been happening has been leading to the last half of this chapter. Love has a way of making people do things that they may not normally do. For Billy, that meant taking some huge risks to be with the person he loves. Oh, and thanks to Hoobastank for coming up with the sappiest "make-up" song ever. It was perfect for the moment.
