Time can past so slowly in the middle of the harshest winter in Minnesota. Thank god my seat is so close to the door. RING!! I shove my books in my bag and calmly walk to my locker, saying hey to a few people on the way. As I approach my locker I see a face that I have never seen before. Is she in my grade? I don't think so, must be a new freshmen. Her features are so stunning, long choppy blonde hair with pink highlights, eyes as blue as the ocean as it reflects the sun's rays. The perfect body, and clothes that showed off her perfect physique, she's about 5.6', only two inches shorter than me. She looks way older than any freshmen I've ever seen. Shit I think I'm staring, wait I know I'm staring. I just can't help it. Our eyes lock. I don't see the trash can in front of me, and fall. This isn't the worst thing that has ever happened to me, I'm the clumsy class clown one might say. She looks at me and cracks a smile. Wow that was embarrassing, but I play it off, grab my coat and head to the bus. I find my seat (always L5 near the emergency exit) and turn on my mp3. Someone taps me on the shoulder, it's her. She waves and smiles, I smile back and put my head down not knowing what to say. Her point of view Finally last period, I can't wait to get home. My fist day was rough. I just hope I make more friends. Things were so bad at my old school. I'm glad my mom got a new job. RING!! The teacher stops mid sentence and everybody makes a mad dash for the door. I walk through the halls searching for my locker and grab my things. Is she staring at me? I think she is. She's kind of cute. Ever green eyes, long black hair with blonde highlights, she towers over me about two inches. She might be 5.8', with the body to match. Kind of a boyish shape, super skinny with skin tight jeans. Wow now I'm staring. Our eyes seem like magnets. That's when it happens... she trips. I try not to laugh but I feel the corners of my mouth curling on their own. I try to snap out of my little trace. What was my bus number again? Oh yeah 223. I better get out there fast before all of the seats are gone. I get to the bus and see a couple of seats open in the back. There's the mystery girl sitting in seat five, head down. I tap her on her shoulder and smile. She half smile back and puts her head back down. I take my seat and silently wait for my stop. NEXT DAY My point of view RING!! I make my way to the bus, not stopping for chit chat. I hate when people block the halls, so why should I. I sit in my normal seat head down just listening to my tunes. My friends on the bus know not to bug me when my head phones are in and my head is down. Someone taps me on my shoulder and asks to sit next to me. I don't know who it is, but I move my back pack without even lifting my head. All of a sudden there's a nudge to my side. I pull out my head phones and look up to see her. "Hi I'm Stacy, sorry but there are no more open seats." Her voice is so perky. "Hey I'm Jessie, it's no problem" I hold out m hand and she grabs it. We shake for an awkward amount of time with our eyes locked. I jerk m hand back and try to start a conversation. "Are you new here?" "Yeah, just transferred." "Why?" "My mom got a new job so we had to move." "Where ya from?" "Sunny California" "Oh, so you're a Cali girl" "You know it!" "Welcome to Minnesota land of 10,000 lakes." I say with fake enthusiasm A smile creeps across her face, and a cute little laugh escapes her lips. "Thanks" "Your a freshmen right?" "Yeah, how bout you?" "Sophomore. What lunch do you have?" "3" "Cool, me too. Maybe you can sit with me tomorrow, I mean if you want." "I would lov..." she stopped mid sentence."I mean of course. Today I was sitting at some table with this snot nose kid and some math nerds." I crack and smile then burst into laughter. "That's not funny" she says as she nudges me. I bite my lip and shake my head no. Still with a slight smile on my face. We were talking so much I didn't even notice my bus stop was next. "This is my stop. See ya at lunch tomorrow?" "Yeah, bye" I walk home a little slower today. I can't get her smile and laugh out of my head. Something's different about her, and I'm determined to find out what it is. NEXT DAY The best part of the day. Lunch, the only time I get to relax. I have lunch 3, the last lunch, the loudest lunch, and the worst lunch. I mean there's no good food left, but at least I get to chill with my friends. I see Stacy and flag her down. She sees me and waves in response and points to the lunch room. Like I said there's no good food so I bring my own lunch. She gets her food and sits at the table in witch me and my friends are occupying. My friends and I are what you might call the popular outcasts. Popular because everybody knows us, but outcasts because we're different. We're the group that you either love or hate. Some might call us punk or even skater, but we prefer unique. We can hang with the preps jocks or nerd and converse just fine, but we prefer the company of each other. "Hey Stac" "Hi" her voice is kind of shaky "Katy, Mel, Bay, Sammie, Mike, Dill, Nate, this is Stacy. Stacy this is everybody" "Looks like we got ourselves some fresh meat." Sammie says with a howl. I firmly kick her chair. "Don't mind her, she flirts with everybody." Sammie looks a t me with lust in her eyes, as she bites her lip. Everyone says hey. We commence eating and begin to talk about high school stuff, relationships, teachers, pet peeves excreta. Stacy seems to be clinging to me, She must be nervous. I feel some ones foot rubbing against my leg from cross the table. I take a quick peek, and see a classic black converse petting me. I look up to see Sammie smiling. She knows this type of nonverbal attention drives me crazy. I close my eyes and the foot wonders between my legs. RING!! We say our good byes and scatter. Just Stacy, Sammie and I are at the table, alone. Sammie slaps my ass then whispers something in my ear. I don't know what she says, but she licks my ear afterwards. Stacy sees but she turns her head quickly and acts like nothing happens. Sammie walks away, and I'm kind of happy. I rejoin Stacy, who is picking up her tray. "Hey, thanks for letting me sit at your table." The confidence is restored back in her voice. "Anytime, sorry about my friends they can be jerks some times." "Its fine, it was kind of funny actually." We throw away our trash and walk up the stairs. Our hands are touching but I think nothing of it. "See you on the bus?" "For sure, see ya." Before we go our separate ways she pulls me close and raps me in a hug. I hug her back and say bye one more time. 7th period comes and goes. I'm walking to my locker but I'm stopped by Sammie. I say hi, but she doesn't let me off that easy. She guides me to a secret spot in the locker bay. "I'm gonna miss the bus" "Two minuets won't hurt." She whispers as she pushes me against the lockers put her thigh between my legs, and lifts my arms above my head. "I'm sick of these games Sam" "You say you don't want it but I know you do" "No I don't, I gotta go." She leans in and kisses me softly on the lips. I don't resist then she releases her grip. "Call me" "I'll think about it." Let me tell you a little bit about me and Sammie. We've know each other since the 8th grade. We would flirt back and forth till our freshmen year when things went too far. We dated for a while, things just didn't work out. She was way too aggressive for me. We hook up sometime when we both want it, she wants it a lot more than me though. I made my way to the bus, knowing that my seat was going to be gone. I exhaled deeply as I walked up the stairs. Someone was in my seat, it was Stacy, and my day just got a little better. I said hi to Brie and Nick, and then eased my way to seat five where Stacy was smiling. She sparkled in the natural light coming through the bus window. I flopped down. "Hey" "Hi, you almost missed the bus" "I know I was talking to Sammie." "Oh." Her tone changed from happy to sad. I quickly changed the subject "You look freezing" "Yeah. This Minnesota weather is killing me" "Don't worry you'll get use to it." I say with a slight smile "I sure hope so. Feel my hands" I place my hands out and she puts hers in mine. "Wow your hands feel like ice cubes." "I know. Yours are so warm." With her hands still in mine I start to trace a pattern on her palm with my index finger. "Your hands are so soft." I whisper, as she turns her head and begins to cry. "What's the matter" I say truly concerned. "It's nothing" She says as she wipes the tears from her eyes. I can tell she's uncomfortable. "Alright if you say so, but if you need to talk I'm here" she nods as I hand her my phone to put her number in, she does the same. I quickly type my number into her contacts list. "Bye, this is my stop" "Bye" she says back barely audible. Right as I stand up she touches my hand. I instantly feel butterflies in my stomach. Our eye contact is long and strong, I feel like I can see straight to the pain in her heart. Someone taps me on the shoulder and I quickly snap out of it. I exit the bus and as I walk down the stairs our eyes meet one more time. Those electric blue eyes seem so innocent. I begin the long trek home wondering what caused her to cry. "Hey Jessie" my mom yells from the kitchen. "Hey mom" "How was your day?" "Fine" I thunder up stairs. "Dinner will be ready soon" "I'm not hungry" I throw my bag in the corner slam my door and jump on my bed. I've never felt this way before except Sammie when we first met. I've had my fair deal of crushes but this one seems different, this one feels deeper. I close my eyes and drift to sleep. END OF PART 1
