Pizza Parlor Chapter 3 "This is your room, right across the hall from Amy's, and the parlor is right below you, so don't be surprised if you hear strangers talking below you, it's just our customers." Pat, Amy's mother, said. It had been a week, and Jenny was finally out of the hospital. When she got back to Amy's house, she was surprised at the size of it. Or lack there of, if you prefer. There was the restaurant, which took up all of the bottom level except for a hallway leading to Pat and Andy, Amy's dad's, room. Then there was the top floor, where the guest bedroom, now Jenny's, and Amy's room was. That was it, basically. Almost the exact opposite of Jenny's old house, and Jenny loved it for that. It was not so big you could get lost in it, and had an almost cozy feel. So far, Amy and her family had not asked to many questions, personal or otherwise, and those they had Jenny had answered vaguely. She thought they were probably letting her get used to things before they put on the pressure. Jenny knew she had to lie, but didn't want to. The Quiets, as was there last name, had been so nice and helpful, taking her in and all. I'll just wait it out, and see what happens, Jenny thought. Wait until the time comes, and then answer their questions, albeit untruthfully. Another problem was Jenny was growing more and more in love with Amy. There, she had come to deal with it. She was in love with another girl. A beautiful, smart, considerate, caring, sweet, friendly, strait girl. Jenny didn't stand a chance. She was sure all the guys at Amy's school would want her. How could she compete, especially if Amy wasn't even gay? It seemed like she couldn't win. Amy was having a hard time of it too. Every day, Jenny seemed to become even more beautiful. Her eyes were so striking in color that every time Amy looked at them it took her breath away. And her body, oh her body! It was like something out of heaven. Her smooth skin had only one blemish, a scar on her right wrist that went right over her vital veins from the crash. The doctors had said if it had cut a centimeter deeper, she would have probably bled to death. Besides that, though, it was flawless; silky skin, beautiful full lips, and the most gorgeous face Amy had ever seen. Even more importantly, Jenny was smart. Well more than that, she was smart, funny, nice, sweet, and everything Amy wanted but couldn't have. She was a mystery to Amy. She wouldn't tell anything about herself, or where she had come from. It was like she popped in out of space. No one knew who she was, and Amy's parents were already asking for information on this girl that they had let into their life. It wasn't only them, though; Amy wanted to know too. She wanted to know everything she could about the wonderful girl she loved. "Thank you, Mrs. Quiet. It's very nice." Jenny said of her new room, and meant it. It wasn't as large as her old room, not nearly in fact, but it was fine for her. Everything she wanted. Jenny was sort of concerned about Amy sleeping in the room right across from her though. It was a big temptation, one Jenny must resist. "Come on, I'll show you Kristie." "Okay." When they got downstairs she saw a girl, a very beautiful girl. This was unexpected for Jenny. "Kristie, this is Jenny, Jenny, this is Kristie, my best friend." Amy was beaming. This would be great, having her best friend and the girl she loved meet, and become fast friends. If only Kristie would stop looking at Jenny that way... "Hi." Jenny said, rather lamely, in her own opinion. The girls shook hands, and Jenny had enough time in that brief moment to feel Kristie's soft hands, and wonder if Amy's were that soft. Bad, don't think of her like that! It will only lead to trouble! "It's very nice to meet you." Kristie said with a sly look in her eye. What is that supposed to mean? Jenny wondered. Amy's thoughts were on the same path as Jenny's. Kristie was looking at Jenny like prime beef, and it was bothering the crap out of Amy... Later that night, Kristie was spending the night with Amy, while Jenny was downstairs with Pat, learning how to waitress. "So what do you think of Jenny?" Amy asked, trying to sound nonchalant. Kristie was not. "I think she's great, really sexy." "What?" "Yeah, she's really hot. I would do her." "What are you some sort of dike or something!?" Amy asked with disbelief. She had never heard her friend talk like this about a girl. "No, she's the first girl I've ever been attracted to sexually, it's not like I like every hot girl I see. There's just something about Jenny that hooks you, you know?" Amy didn't know whether to agree or disagree. The statement was true, of course, and it made Amy saddened. Her much more beautiful friend also finds the first girl Amy ever loved infinitely beautiful. Even if Jenny were gay, she would definitely choose Kristie over Amy. There was no way to compete. "I don't know, I've never liked a girl that way, and I didn't think you ever would either." Amy said evasively. She didn't know why she was hiding herself, probably to keep from getting hurt. "Well, I'm not going to try and hide my sexuality. It's just not me. You wouldn't want to either, if you ever liked a girl, even though it's not likely you ever would, you're so perfectly strait." "Crap!" Jenny said under her breath as she dropped another tray. It wasn't that she was doing all that bad a job, it was just the rush she was always in. If she didn't have to go so quickly, maybe she wouldn't drop as much stuff. Pat and Andy definitely needed to hire some more help. It's not like they could, though, since they didn't really have that many customers. And there was something else. Amy. Jenny couldn't stop thinking about her, dreaming about her, wanting her. It was too much, Jenny couldn't take much more of it. She had already decided that tonight she was going to tell Amy about her love for her, and to hell with the consequences. It had been a month, and Jenny couldn't get a grip on herself. It was as though she were caught under a spell of some sort. Amy's eyes, face, body, all awaited her in her dreams every night. It was a slow torture, to know you love someone and they don't love you back. A torture she would try and put a stop to. Another thing Jenny was having a hard time with was Kristie. If Jenny wasn't mistaken, she could be certain Kristie was coming on to her. And not subtly, either. Just this morning Kristie had told Jenny that she looked sexy today, and then grabbed her ass! Not something a person normally does after knowing someone only a month (although Jenny wouldn't have minded as much if it were Amy that had done it). "It's all right, I like looking at your butt when you bend down to pick it up anyway!" Kristie said, with a glint in her eye that could mean only one thing. This was almost too much for Jenny, who was about to say something to Kristie, when she was interrupted by Amy. A crying Amy. "Stop talking about her like that!" Amy said as she started to cry. Then she ran up the stairs. Jenny was right behind her, after yelling at Kristie not to come up. When she got to Amy's room, Amy was on her bed, crying, It felt like all of the sorrow of the world was brought down upon Jenny when she heard Amy cry. She would have done anything to make her feel better. "What happened? What's wrong?" Jenny asked after nothing better came to her head. "Oh nothing, guess I'm just on my period or something, and really emotional right now, he, he." Amy said, while wiping tears from her brown eyes. At this point though, they almost looked black with anguish. Jenny knew what she was doing. Trying to stop the conversation before it even started. "You're lying." Jenny said, rather harshly. She needed to know what was wrong. It would kill her if she didn't. "Why were you angry that Kristie came on to me? Let me guess, being gay grosses you out so much you would yell at your best friend because she's a lesbian? That's sick, really sick." Jenny said, and sounded in her own ears harsh. It just hurt her so much that Amy could be repelled by gayness that anger swelled inside her, even though when Amy started crying harder it made Jenny hurt like death to have caused her pain. "That's not-." "Well let me tell you something," Jenny said, cutting Amy in mid-sentence, "I don't think being gay is bad. In fact, I think being a lesbian is hot!" Jenny said with a heated tone. At this Amy looked up. Deep pools of the darkest chocolate eyes stared at her, watered with tears. Then she looked down, and said something so softly that Jenny could not hear it at all. By this time, Jenny was so frustrated, she grabbed Amy's chin and jerked her forward within an inch of her own face, and asked her what she had just said. "I said being a lesbian doesn't bother me." Amy whispered. "Then what is it, having a lesbian for a best friend freaks you out, because that's not much better!" Jenny yelled. "No, it just bothers me when Kristie comes on to you, that's all." Amy softly said. "Why is that?" Jenny whispered, after about a minute's silence. It seemed the slightest noise reverberated off the wall ten times the normal loudness. This was important. "Because..."Amy started, then backed down, tears falling from her eyes. "Because?" Jenny prompted. "Because I love you. There, you happy? I love you so much it hurts to see her all over you. I can't stand the thought of you two together. I dream about you, almost every night. I love how you smile, how you laugh, how your eyes change colors when you feel emotion, everything. When I think of her kissing you, touching you, knowing you how I only should, I can't breathe, the pain in my heart is so intense. I hate the fact that I don't stand a chance with you, because all of the girls and guys in this town will be all over you, and Kristie, the most beautiful girl in town, just turned a lesbian when she saw you, so if you were to ever like another girl, it would probably be her." Amy rambled, and probably would have kept on rambling, if it hadn't been for the tears she saw in Jenny's eyes. "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to make things awkward between us. Don't cry, please. I can't stand to see it." At this Jenny smiled. "Don't you realize I'm happy? All I ever wanted was you." Jenny said, and closed short the distance between both of their lips, and gave Amy the sweetest kiss she had ever received. The only kiss she had ever received. So soft, was all Amy could think. That first kiss was amazing. Neither of the two girls used their tongue, only soft lips upon soft lips. Jenny reached around and caressed Amy's hair. Both girls were in heaven, because they both had wanted this since when they first laid eyes on each other in the hospital. Amy put her hands on the other girl's soft cheeks, just feeling the softness. It seemed all the tenderness of the world was compounded into that one kiss. When they pulled back, both could feel the other's breath upon their cheek, and both had tears in their eyes. Though it was for different reasons, Jenny soon found out. "I can't do this." Amy said, sitting up off her bed. "I can't be a lesbian. My parents..." "We can make it work. Whatever we have to do, I'm willing, so long as you're the one person I hold in my arms every night." Jenny said hurriedly, trying to disperse any thoughts of doubt from Amy's mind. "No, I can't." Amy was shaking her head now, trying to forget, trying not to feel, but unable. The kiss replayed itself in her mind, over and over like a broken record. The caresses, the touches, Jenny's lips, all of the things that made it so special, couldn't be erased. But she wanted to forget, wanted not to feel love for another girl. So she denied herself the thoughts. "Your parents will get over it, and it's not like we have to tell them right away. You can't tell me you feel nothing for me. I won't believe it, not after that kiss," "We didn't kiss! We didn't do anything! And if I feel something for you, all it is is friendship." Amy said in total denial, while trying to leave the room. Jenny wouldn't let her, and blocked her from the door. "You're lying! Not two minutes ago you were telling me how you loved me!" Jenny screamed, as tears ran down her eyes in streams. "I just wanted to see whether or not you were a gross lesbian like Kristie. I don't want you! I never have wanted you, and I never will!" Amy screamed. "But I love you." Jenny whispered, still crying. "Then may God forgive you for your sins." Amy spat. But when she left, Amy could not help but let out a sob at her poor loves pained expression.
