Scent of a Girl: Beginnings - Episode 4 "The Beginning of...The Mintz, part one"

/\ {* ~ *} /\ DAKOTA'S PERSPECTIVE /\ {* ~ *} /\
So a few days have passed since me and Mindy kissed and she's now my constant companion. Partly cause she likes me and I like her and partly cause she's afraid that big moose Veronica will fuck with her again. So far so good. On this day I was waiting on Mindy outside of Chem class as she waited to get her test graded. I felt someone watching me.
"Hey!" The Voice said as I turned and saw Mindy, part two, standing there giving me a rather cold stare. "You Dakota?"
"Dakota Lane" I said nervously.
"You my sisters friend, Dakota?"
"Mindy's my friend yeah" I said and knowing instantly that this was Cindy. That being Mindy's tough twin sister. "You need something?"
"You like my sister?" She asked as she adjusted her back pack on her shoulder.
"Why is there a problem? Did I do something?" I asked. My stomach turning into knots.
"Answer the question!"
"Yeah I like her, she's nice and we..."
"You ever hit her I'll seriously hurt you" She said as I took a step back.
"Why would I ever do that for?"
"Cause you're Cally's friend right?" She asked as I nodded.
"Girls tough and from what I know you're her running mate" Cindy said as I shrugged. "She watches out for you?"
"Yeah she does the fighting, not me" I said. "I got a bad temper at times but I'm not really the violent type."
"I hope not cause Mindy really likes you" Cindy said with a half smile. "I don't wanna see her get hurt anymore."
"She won't be" I said and following Cindy's eyes as Cally walked up. "Hey!"
"Wassup" Cally said as she eye balled Cindy. "Something wrong?"
"Nope, just talking" Cindy said. "Cally, right?"
"Yeah" Cally said before looking to me and asking, "You seen Max?"
"Earlier down by Daniel Field why?"
"We got a date tonight and I was just gonna see if it was still on" Cally said.
"You have a girlfriend?" Cindy asked, both of us looking back at her.
"Yeah, have had all year" Cally said. "Why?"
"I dunno you see that more and more here" Cindy said. "Not as many stupid people who hate it."
"Yeah I know, back home in Omaha it's not exactly well tolerated" Cally said.
"Pittsburgh ain't too bad" I commented. "I never really liked girls till I came here and me and Cally started running together."
"You only run with me cause you suck at fighting" Cally said as I shrugged. "Don't bother me though, I like having you around."
"I think we should form a lesbian gang" Cindy said with a smile as Cally and me both looked at her and then started to laugh. An idea though was sparked.
"Hey guys" Mindy said as she came out and smiled at me. "What's going on, Cindy, are you threatening people again?"
"Huh?" Cindy asked in shock.
"Said she'd beat me up if I kissed you again" I said into Mindy's ear and just loud enough for everyone else to hear. Mindy giggled and pushed me away playfully.
"That is none of your business little sister" Mindy said to her twin.
"Little sister?" Cally asked in confusion.
"I'm two minutes older" Mindy said proudly as I laughed.
"And 50 I'Q. points dumber" Cindy said as Mindy glared at her sister.
"Now that is not true" I said as Mindy smiled smugly as she hugged my arm. "I happen to know she's very smart."
"Thank you" Mindy said to me and kissing my cheek. "So we got plans or what? You said we might."
"What do you wanna do?" I asked.
"Will you go with me to watch the softball try outs? Cindy's in them" Mindy said as I looked to her sister.
"Mindy I dunno, Veronica hangs out around there and you know how she is" Cindy said. "How about you and Dakota just head back to the dorm and hang out?"
"Why, I'll be there and so will Max, Veronica won't start with us around" Cally said as I smiled and we did a fist pound.
"Can I talk to you for a minute in private?" Cindy asked Cally.
/\ {* ~ *} /\ CALLY'S PERSPECTIVE /\ {* ~ *} /\
"Sure" I said as we walked off down the hall to a secluded spot by the lockers. "Wassup?"
"Mindy's gonna insist on going and with her there I'm not gonna be able to concentrate" Cindy said. "But if you'll do me a solid and watch out for her I'll owe you one."
"I like Mindy and she makes Dakota happy so it's no favor" I said as Cindy grinned. "I'll make sure Veronica gets the message if she messes with Mindy again her and me are gonna throw down."
"You know, you got a good rep around here, being tough and all" She said as I nodded. "So do I!"
"Yeah?"
"If we teamed up we could run this school" She said as I laughed.
"What do you mean run this school?"
"Keep people like Veronica from bullying people like me and you" She said and as much as admitting she was gay too. "Hard to fight three people at once even if you are tough."
"You got jumped by three people?"
"A couple of times" She said.
"Come find me next time and I'll bet you won't."
"That's what I'm saying" Cindy said. "You watch out for me and I'll do the same for you. And Dakota, and even your girlfriend too. Whatever."
"So you were serious about this lesbian gang huh?" I asked as she blushed and gave me a seriously cute smile.
"Kinda of yeah" She said. "I'm gonna be playing softball a lot and even be on the road with the team sometimes overnight and it sure would help if I knew someone had mine and Mindy's back here on campus. For real."
"I see no problems" I said. "You know we could like form a club or something, me, you, Mindy, Maxie and Dakota."
"I guess but whats the point?"
"To put the word out that anyone who messes with you has me and Max to deal with now" I said as she grinned knowingly and nodded her head.
"You're top dog and I'm your wing man."
"You saying I'm ugly?" I asked as Cindy laughed.
/\ {* ~ *} /\ DAKOTA'S PERSPECTIVE /\ {* ~ *} /\
"You're a good kisser" Mindy whispered as we stood by the huge oak tree out behind the center field fence. Her wrapped in my arms with a blanket wrapped around both of us and out of view of virtually everyone. Her kissing me again. "Am I?"
"Best kisser ever" I said as she giggled and blushed a deep red. "Beautiful too."
"Well like, duh" She said with a flirty blond giggle. I rolled my eyes as she kissed me again. "MMMMM that's so much fun."
"I have to agree with that" I said as we both giggled.
"I wasn't sure kissing a girl would ever feel this good" Mindy commented.
"Really?"
"Well yeah, I mean...I don't have real experience other than you" She said as I smiled. "The first girl I've ever been able to kiss whenever I want."
"Who says I want you to kiss me?"
"GRRRRRR" Mindy growled as I smiled. "You know you think you're funny and you're not. Ha ha."
"Well if you don't laugh at my jokes you're gonna get it" I said as I touched my forehead to hers as she grinned. Her softly kissing me and touching my cheeks and caressing them so perfectly as she smiled at me. An adorable heart breaking smile that made me wanna do anything to see her smile again. This feeling will become normal for me as we move farther along.
"You're mean to me already" Mindy said as she slipped from my arms and backed up as she pointed at me, "I'm gonna get my sister to beat you up."
"Come here" I said as she laughed and took off running into the woods surrounding Francis Field (the softball field). Me finally catching her in the opening a hundred feet or so away as she squealed in laughter and fought to get lose. "Now what you gonna do?"
"I'm gonna scream, HELP!, oh god I'm ticklish" She squealed in laughter as I tickled for a long moment and let her escape as she turned to me and instead of running she pushed me. I laughed, as did she, as the play fight ensued. Was a really fun afternoon. I knew then I was falling in love with her and just hoped that she was feeling the same about me.
/\ {* ~ *} /\ CALLY'S PERSPECTIVE /\ {* ~ *} /\
"Hey girlfriend" Maxie said as she came up the steps of the bleachers and leaned down to kiss me. "What are you doing here?"
"Watching out for Mindy and Dakota and seeing who makes the softball team" I said as I pointed to Cindy now playing right field. "Cindy Sullivan is one hell of a player."
"Yeah no shock there, she throws like a boy" Maxie said as she sat down beside me. "And you're doing what?"
"Me and Cindy got an idea" I said as Maxie listened. "I watch out for her sister and she watches out for Dakota."
"Why?"
"Hello, being gay is not exactly popular even here in Liberal Minnesota" I said as Maxie shrugged and smiled. "So with Cindy being on the Softball team she's gonna be going out of town a lot and that leaves Mindy on her own. So I said I'd watch out for Mindy if she did the same for you and Dakota."
"Oh great so now you gotta babysit the dumb blond" Maxie said and referring to Mindy.
"You know what Max, you're mean" I said with a finger point. "And you got a big mouth that hurts peoples feelings for no reason."
"What? She is dumb have, you've talked to her?" Maxie asked.
"She's not dumb, she's really nice and Dakota likes her" I said. "And if you cared about her feelings you'd stop calling Mindy names."
"Whatever" Maxie said as she crossed her arms and turned back to the field.
"You have no idea how sick I am of your whatever bullshit, Maxine" I said as her head snapped back to meet me. "I am. I'm doing what I have to in order to protect us. So we can walk across campus without being harassed."
"So fighting is the answer?"
"Not all the time" I said. "But you know how it is."
"Yeah" Maxie said. "I heard Cindy's tough."
"Got jumped by three girls is what she told me and held her own" I said as Maxie gave me a determined look.
"Three girls? What the hell?" Maxie asked. "I say me and you go find these whores and show them who they don't fuck with."
"But I thought you said Mindy was a dumb blond Max?" I asked pointedly. "Not worth defending? Cause that's who Cindy was fighting for that day."
"Seriously? But why? Mindy never bothers anyone" Maxie said.
"But she's dumb?"
"God shut up already,"
"How about this, you stop running your big mouth until you know someone" I said as she gave me a cold stare. "You don't have to run your mouth on everyone."
"FINE!" Maxie screamed in my face. I growled before she leaned down and kissed me roughly on the lips. "MMMMMMM wanna go make up now?"
"Damn it! I can't" I said as Maxie groaned. "I'm sorry Max, I promised Cindy I'd keep an eye out for Mindy."
"Sorry!" Maxie said as she linked her arm with mine. "We OK?"
"As always" I said as I kissed her. "If you're in, I'm in."
"Speaking of...where the hell did the two love birds go?" I asked and looking around and getting concerned for a long moment until Maxie touched my arm and pointed beyond the centerfield fence to Mindy and Dakota wrestling in the clearing. You could clearly see the two were having a good time. I smiled knowing my best friend, the girl who many times wants to kill me, was in love.
