Date: Thu, 31 May 2007 13:09:51 -0700 (PDT) From: Dizzle Shizzle Subject: Supernova Part 1 I just found this story on my computer from about a year ago, so I'm not sure how good it is. It's in multiple parts, but here's the first installment. I don't think it was finished, so I might just complete it. Possibly. Maybe. Tell me what you think at samajisan@yahoo.com. My dad opened the door with his back as he carried the suitcases in, followed by my mom and little brother. Sari and I, weighed down with our own luggage, both moved quickly to claim the far bed in the small hotel room. Now that school was over, my family had decided to take a trip to Washington D.C. to do the typical tourist stuff for a week of vacation. We had an extra seat in our car, so my dad told me I could invite along any of my friends if they felt like coming. I knew immediately who to choose. I looked over at Sari. She was lithe, about 5 and a half feet just like me, but her hair was raven black in contrast to mine, a sort of wooden brown. She was about a year younger, only 15, so her breasts had not gotten quite as large as mine, but you could tell they were going to get there. We had been in the same school for 3 years but I had never really noticed her, nor her me, until a month or so ago at the prom. I had come without a date, just accompanied by my cadre of friends. We did the whole typical rich girl rent a limo thing, arriving an hour late to be "cooler". But in the middle of a dance I felt that 5th punch start to hit so I went to take care of some business. I had just finished up in the stall when I heard the door burst open and someone crash into the stall. I could hear whoever it was sobbing from the next stall over. My first thought was to go back to the dance, to forget about it, but I paused by the door as a new set of sobs poured forth from the stall. I turned around, opened the stall door which she had left unlocked, knelt down, and hugged her. She didn't look up, didn't shy away. She simply collapsed in my arms, sobbing uncontrollably into my shoulder as I whispered calming things into her ear. After about 5 minutes of this she leaned back to look at me. Her skin was a light mocha color as if she'd been in the sun too long, but I had a feeling she'd been born with it, and her tearstained face had the two most beautiful brown eyes I'd ever seen. She sniffed, then said, "thank you." "No problem." I replied, smiling a little bit. "I didn't think the music out there was that bad, though." She laughed harshly, then glanced down at the floor. "I'd rather not talk about it to a complete stranger." "Well, there's a way to fix that." I said, and took her by the arm out of the bathroom. I steered her away from the bass rumble of some rap song and further down the corridor of our high school until we had rounded a corner sufficiently away from anyone who might stray past. "My name's Nova Everly. I've gone here for three years and I like studying history. I'm on the track team, and my favorite book is Carrie. There, so now I'm not a complete stranger am I?" She smiled softly and glanced at me. "My name's Sari. She paused. "Why did you do that back in there?" "Do what?" "Comfort me. Anyone else would have just ignored me." "I don't know. You just sounded so upset, I couldn't just leave and forget about it." She looked closely at me, gazing for a long time into my eyes. Then with a start, as if remembering something, she got up and looked around. "Um-I've got to go." "What?" "I..." She struggled with the words. "I've just-I've gotta leave." And with that she ran off down the corridor, turned and left the school. I didn't see her again until next Monday when school came around again. I was talking with my friends when she shyly approached, standing back like a child does when adults are talking. One of my friends noticed her before I did, nudged me to get my attention then pointed at Sari. "Um...excuse me." She said, looking at her feet. "But I was wondering if I could talk with you for a minute." She said, with a quick glance up at me. "Sure, Sari," I said cheerfully, telling my friends to go ahead and get lunch and that I would be there in a little bit. She pulled me aside to an unoccupied section of hallway. As I was following her I noticed offhandedly that she was wearing a very small plaid skirt, just barely reaching down far enough to obscure her panties. She had a white button down shirt on, and had her hair down loose around her shoulders, so that it swished whenever she turned her head. Once we were alone, she turned to me and quickly said, "I'm sorry. About the other night. You were being nice to me and I completely brushed you off, and you didn't deserve that. I guess I'm just not used to people paying any attention to me." "It's fine Sari," I said as cheerfully as I could. Using her first name seemed to make her less rigid, made her apologetic look less formal. "I got worried about you though." "Worried about me? But you hardly know me." "I know, but you seemed very upset when you left. I could hardly sleep that night, worrying about what happened to you, but you never gave a last name so I couldn't call you." "Oh...it's Kiano. Sari Kiano." She blushed a little bit. And looked away. "And I've been thinking about it a lot, and I want to tell you why I was crying." "You really don't have..." "I know. But I...I just need to." She closed her eyes, as if searching for the right words. "I'd been dating Brian for some time. He'd asked me out a few months ago and I said ok before I even realized what he'd said. We've been going out since then and we've never done anything. Not once. It's not that he's not attractive or anything...it's just..." "It's ok Sari, you don't have to keep going." She took a deep breath. "That night, we were dancing...and he tried to kiss me. I pulled back. I told him I wasn't ready and he asked when I would be ready. I thought about it for a few seconds and then realized that I didn't know. I told him that, and he basically told me if I wouldn't put out, he was out. So I told him to leave. And he did." She leaned back against the wall and I saw a single tear stream down her cheek. By this time the hall was clear of stragglers, everybody having gone to lunch by then. My stomach rumbled of it's own accord, but I remained there with Sari. "And that's when you found me. No one had ever been kind to me like that before. I mean my mom is great and everything, but since my dad's been gone she's had to feed 4 girls and she's not always there." I wanted to say something to comfort her, but no words would come out. She continued. "And you actually, genuinely cared about whether I was ok or not. It's...you don't know how much that meant to me." She smiled at me through her now tearstained cheeks. I hadn't noticed until now, but my eyes were moist as well. She reached over with a handkerchief she had in her pocket and wiped my tears away, then wiped her own face. "And when we were standing there, in that hallway, and I looked into your eyes and saw how much you cared about what happened to a complete stranger...I realized something. I realized why I didn't know when I'd be ready for Brian. When I looked at you...I saw something there that I knew I wanted." She paused for a long moment. She turned away slightly. "I wanted you." She said it so softly I had to strain to hear it, but it seemed like she had yelled it to me. She cringed from me, as if afraid of an outburst of rage from me, and glanced longingly down the hallway to the stairs, as if wanting to escape. I just stood there. I thought back to the weeks before prom, and how no guys seemed right for me. I thought about how I had never really liked all those Teenie-Bop magazines my friends devoured. I thought about those eyes...and in the spur of the moment, I grabbed her chin and placed my lips on hers. Her tear-moistened lips at first tightened as her eyes widened in surprise, but soon her eyelids drooped closed as our lips locked together. My mind could hardly believe what I was doing, but my heart somehow knew it was right. The seconds bled away as I pushed her against the wall, putting my hands behind her head to draw her closer as hers snaked their way up my back. I stopped thinking as we melted into one, holding each other as tightly as possible while we kissed. Finally the lack of oxygen caused me to slowly pull away, holding my lips close to hers as I tasted her breath. My eyes flickered open to see her face filled with tears. My mind jolted back on as I realized what I had done. I started to apologize, but she laughed and jumped forward, hugging me tightly. Caught by surprise, I belatedly hugged her back and laughed as well. She looked at me and smiled through her tears, and I gazed deeply into her heavenly brown eyes. The ringing of the school bell threw us both back into reality, as we realized kids were pouring out of the lunchroom downstairs to head back to class. She grabbed my hand with a smile, and pulled back, still holding my hand lightly. I briefly entertained fancies of us finding an unoccupied classroom to spend the next three hours of the school day in, but I heard my name called from the other end of the hall. "Nova!" I looked at Sari apologetically, but she smiled and grabbed a pen from her belt. Pulling my arm close to hers, she wrote down seven numbers as I smelled her hair. She giggled, then ran back down the hallway to scoop up her backpack on the way to class. I could almost imagine her clicking her heels as she ran, she looked so elated. I knew how she felt. I was walking on air. "Nova!" my friend Alicia ran up. "Where have you been? We waited half of lunch for you. Did you eat here or something?" "Yeah..." I said distractedly, my mind still in the clouds. I shook my head to get it back to normal. "Yeah. I'm fine." "What did...that girl want?" I looked at Alicia. "Sari. She just wanted to apologize to me for something. Don't worry about it." I replied to the bemused expression on her face. "C'mon, we're gonna be late for Chemistry." And that's how I met Sari Kiano. I called her that night and we talked for hours. We never talked about what happened that day, we didn't talk about hooking up or going out, we just talked. Music, TV, movies, books, whatever. Even though we didn't talk about anything important, it was good just to talk to her. I heard her mom call to her from the other end of the phone, and she said, "I'm sorry but I've got to go to bed in a few." "That's ok." I glanced at the clock. "Wow! So do I. I have a test second period tomorrow." There was a pause. "Nova...can I ask you something?" "Sure," I said, slightly apprehensive. "Are we..." she trailed off. "Would you like to be?" "...yes I would. Very much." She replied softly but firmly. "So would I." "Good." She said, sounding relieved. She paused again. "Can I ask you a favor, then?" "Name it." "Um...my mom...she's kind of, well not kind of, she's very religious. As in we have saints in our bathroom." I laughed a little bit. "Yeah, mine aren't that bad but we go to church every Sunday and all that." I thought I saw where this was going. "So...um...could we keep this just between us?" I smiled. "Of course we can, Sari." She sighed in relief. "Thank you." She paused. "I mean it. Thank you so much. For everything." "Don't mention it." I heard some more maternal yelling in the background. "Do you have to leave?" I asked. "Yeah, actually. Um, I'll talk to you later I guess." "It's a date." I could almost see her smile from where I was. "...and Nova?" "Yes?" "...I love you." I closed my eyes as tears threatened to pour forth and held the phone down for a second. I put it back up to my ear and softly said, "I love you too, Sari." All I heard in return was the dial tone. ****** ****** For the next few weeks we barely saw each other. She was in none of my classes. We would talk for a little after school as we waited for out parents to pick us up (I still had no car), but we couldn't meet much beyond that. We held true to our promise, never letting any of my friends or our parents know about us. My parents knew I had a new friend, but nothing beyond that. Then, my dad had told me about this trip (remember the vacation?) and my thoughts immediately strayed to Sari. So this is how we came to be together in a hotel room with my family at 9 Eastern Time, two girls who had never met until a month ago, about to share a week together. We both went to brush our teeth and change into our pajamas in the hotel bathroom. As soon as the door clicked shut I rushed over to Sari and kissed her furiously, pushing her so that she had to sit on the counter a little bit. She reciprocated in full force. Her right leg wrapped around mine as we hungrily tongue wrestled. In between kisses Sari whispered into my lips, "Oh my God, Nova, I've missed you terribly." "Me too, oh GOD me too." I began to grind my crotch against hers as I pulled her shirt over her head and pushed her further back onto the counter, knocking single-size shampoos into the sink. Her hand began to migrate down the middle of my back and mine up towards her bra- -KNOCK KNOCK- "Are you guys almost done in there?" "Dammit, Jimmy, just give us 5 minutes!" I yelled at my brother. I turned back to Sari to see her covering her mouth as she giggled. "I'm really sorry about him. He's just being his usual annoying self." "It's perfectly fine. I have sisters, you know." "Yeah..." We stared at each other for a few more moments, until Sari finally broke in, "well I guess we should actually get ready for bed." "I guess so." We both brushed our teeth, fixed our hair, yadda yadda yadda, all in double time. The entire time I snuck glances at her, still just wearing her hip-huggers and a lacy black bra. I envied her, being able to instantly be so comfortable while scantily clad around others. Sure, I'd lounged around naked in my house before, but only when I knew no one was looking, or even within a mile radius. And here we were, she'd barely even met me and she was completely comfortable being topless. I glanced down at my own set. Distantly I realized they were a decent sized pair, but I was still embarrassed of them. They were too perky; I had to get extra padded bras for cold days. I looked over and realized that Sari was bending over to take off her pants, revealing a very smooth light brown back. As she stood up I glanced down and saw she was in a low-slung black thong that competed with her bra in laciness. It dipped low in the middle, but I could see no trace of a triangle; either she hadn't grown one yet or she kept it trimmed. She must have noticed me looking her over because she glanced at me and smiled, then held up a finger and rotated it in a circle. Sighing wistfully I obliged and turned around as she did the same, then she began fumbling with her brastrap (I cheated: there was a wall length mirror she hadn't noticed. Or maybe she had...). It came unclasped quickly, something I logged away distantly in my brain as I ogled her near-nude back. Then she bent over and slowly slid down her panties; I was sure my mouth was watering when I thought I caught a glimpse of something that was not her ass. Which is not to say it wasn't enough. It was perfectly sculpted, with not a single trace of a tan line to suggest her skin tone was artificial. My gaze was locked there for what seemed like an eternity as she remained bent over. That's when I noticed her brown eyes peeking at me through between her legs. "Got you!" she said. I instantly turned away; my cheeks were burning as I mumbled an apology and mentally kicked myself for staring at her like an idiot (but more for getting caught). While I was busy whispering curses at myself under my breath she must have straightened and slipped into a huge T-Shirt, because that's when I felt her arms encircle my waist from behind. She whispered in my left ear, "Shh...it's alright. You can look all you want." I said, "I'm really sorry about that." "I said it was alright. Now it's your turn, baby." She said as she nipped my ear playfully, then stood back a little bit. I paused for a few seconds, and she laughed and asked, "do you want me to do it for you?" "No, it's not that, it's just...," I sighed. "Look...this is going to sound really hypocritical right now...but I've never really been comfortable with people seeing me...like that. It's just this thing I have..." I gestured with my hands as if trying to create it out of the air, then let them drop. "Do you understand?" Her eyebrows formed a look of sympathy on her face. "Aww, I'm really sorry about asking that. When you live with three other girls you kindof get used to...you know. Well I guess you don't, but...well look, I'm really sorry, you can go ahead I'm gonna go get tucked in. I smiled and breathed a sigh of relief. "Are you sure you're not mad?" "Oh yeah, far from it. Don't worry about it." "Thank you so much." "No prob." She said with a wink, then left the bathroom. I looked in the mirror at myself for a minute, then quickly undressed to my brother's continued knocking and slipped into a sheer gown I wear to bed. I kept my bra and panties on, some white cotton ones, but slipped out of them as I pulled myself under the hotel blankets, first stopping to yank them out from being tucked into the foot of the bed. My mom was reading as my dad flipped through channels, while Sari was simply lying in bad with the covers pulled up to her chin, watching TV but glancing at me when she thought no one was looking. I leaned over and pulled my own pillow from home out from my suitcase; I never go anywhere without it because there's nothing quite like the smell of your own pillowcases to lull you to sleep. There was a knock at the door, so my dad got up to meet whoever was out there. While he was talking to the person, Sari leaned over and whispered, "I really like your gown." "Do you really? I got it a couple years ago for Christmas." "Well I do. It's very...nice." And with that she rolled onto her back and closed her eyes with a contented smile. My dad rolled one of those extra hotel wheelie-beds into the room and set it up for my brother, then got in bed himself. My mom slid her bookmark into place, leaned over and kissed my dad goodnight, then she turned off the lamp as he turned off the TV. Within minutes they both began to snore, one lightly and one heavily, and I could tell by my brother's breathing he too was asleep. I lay there thinking about how lucky I was to be lying next to such an amazing girl for a while. I fantasized about what I'd just seen for a long time, alternately imagining us in various locations: beaches, hot tubs, fields, etc. I'd always be lying next to her in all these, and we'd just be softly kissing. Pathetic, I know, after all I'd seen, but still arousing in it's own way. For probably 30 minutes or so I just lay there, peacefully slipping from thinking to dreaming as the sounds of interstate traffic lulled me to sleep. I was content. But then I began to hear something. It started softly, just an intermittent hum here and there, but soon began to piece itself together into a slow moving lullaby. It was so beautiful, and so soft. It brought to mind images of kindness, but also a bit of sadness. After a few minutes of this lovely serenade it slowly faded from barely audible into nothingness. It left in it's wake a perfect silence. I broke it with a whisper. "That was really good, Sari." There was a pause. "You were listening? I thought you'd fallen asleep already." "What was it?" Another pause. I heard rustling as she pulled her knees up to her chest. "A long time ago, when I was really little, I was very afraid of the dark. I would always lie there scared stiff until I could work up the courage to run to my parent's room to sleep with them. So one night, my papa came in to tuck me in and he began to tell me a story. The story was about a beautiful princess who lived in a castle far away which was beset by a strange demon of darkness. All the townspeople were fine during the day, but at night they were beset upon by the darkness and stolen away one by one, until it came to pass that they were all forced to retreat into the castle every night. It continued like this until one day an old minstrel wandered into town to play for the princess. She was brought before the princess, to whom the minstrel revealed that she was in fact a powerful musical sorceress, and she was here to teach the princess a song to defeat the dark demons, and in exchange all she required was a place to stay for the night. The princess hastily agreed, giving the sorceress her own bedroom while she slept in one of her courtier's rooms. So, the sorceress stayed true to her word, and taught to the princess the Hymn of Dawn. She instructed the princess to walk through her village and sing that song as the people went to sleep, and it would hold the darkness at bay." There was a pause and more rustling as she pulled herself tighter. "And every night he would come into my room and tell that story, then sing the hymn to keep the dark away. This all probably sounds so silly to you doesn't it." She didn't wait for an answer. "And then one day...he was gone. We never did find out where he went. That first night I was so scared; I would have gone into my mom's room but she was sobbing and would shriek at anyone who came near her. I was trembling in my sheets, but then I began to sing that song. And strangely, it helped to comfort me and I drifted into sleep. Ever since then, I've done that every night before I went to sleep." She shifted over to look at me and I could see now there were the beginnings of tears in her eyes. "I've never told anyone that. Not my sisters, not even my mother." I looked at her and she looked at me. We didn't have to say anything, I just slid my hand out to meet hers under the sheets. I squeezed it and felt a weak squeeze back. There was no need for words, because we both knew what each other were thinking at that moment. Right then, lying in bed with this girl I'd just met, I was filled with so much love for her I could hardly stand it. I pulled her close and put my arm around her shoulder as she tucked hers in between us. Our noses were touching and our tears intermingled on the pillows between us. Using my other hand, I pulled her fingers up to my lips and slowly kissed them, then leaned in slowly and kissed her, letting our lips just barely hold onto each other. Her body collapsed into mine, and we both fell asleep with her body wrapped up in my arms.
