I was in 5th grade and it was the last day of school and school had just
let out.  Since home was only a mile from school I decided to walk home and
besides I was with my friends.


As we walked out of the school I noticed April for the first time and she
was outside of school and she was crying.


I said," My name is John and what is wrong?"

Chris said," John what are you doing talking to a girl?"

in a few minutes. After they disappeared I returned to April.


She said," Let's find some place private can we?"

We walked off close to the woods and out of sight of the school.

She asked," You promise to not tease me if I show you?"

I said," I promise to not tease you."

We walked to the playground and my friends were waiting for me.

I said," This is April and she is going to be with me now if you are

We all played together and little did we all know that April, Chris,
Mark,Randy and I would be close lifetime friends and April and I would
eventually be husband and wife.  Eventually April would show and tell the
three of them the truth and they didn't care except to understand and we
would help her through her struggles.  I noticed right off the bat there
was something besides just anatomically speaking.

Mark said," April would you like to go swimming with us Saturday?"

April said," That would be great."

She grabbed my hand and I think it was to affirm our new found friendship
as much as for security.

Chris saw this and laughed and said," April and John sitting in a tree."

I said," Chris can't you stop."

April flashed me the beautiful smile that I would fall in love with.  We
were playing outside my house when mom called out to me it was time to eat
dinner.

As I went inside and Mark, Chris, Randy and April left to go home mom was
looking at me.

She asked," Is that the new girl who just started school this year?"

I said," I guess mom."

She said," She is cute and how do you like the beginning of your summer
vacation?"

I said," Great mom, me April Chris and Randy are planning to go swimming
Saturday."

She said," I think that will be alright and it is good you are including
her."

 We ate dinner and dad,mom and I talked about the day and mom recounted my
new friend named April and dad teased me about starting early.

After dinner we went to the living-room and watched TV and played games and
talked til it was time to go to bed.

In bed I thought about how I saw April outside of school crying and how
after listening to her and hugging her how we became fast friends.
