Our normal life suddenly changed with a new addition! I hope you enjoy this work of fiction. –––––––––––––––––––– I'm Bill, a 34 year old guy in San Francisco, with a pretty typical life, except that I am married to a beautiful Chinese woman named Lotus. That isn't unusual for San Francisco, but Lotus is transgendered, that is, she was born as a boy. She transitioned at an early age, so some of the problems of early male puberty, such as growing whiskers or an adam's apple just didn't happen for her. She is pre-operative, meaning that she still had her penis (which we refer to as a "clitty"), but had her testicles removed in her youth. She is legally a woman, and her doctor and I are the only ones who know she isn't a genetic female. Now it may seek kinky to be married to a girl with a dick, but I see Lotus completely as a woman. For those of you who really understand transgendered people, you know that what makes them a woman is what is between their ears – not between their legs! Throughout most of the day I don't even think of her as transgendered – I simply think of her as a woman. She looks and acts even more feminine than a genetic woman. Of course, during intimacy we have to make some accommodations for anatomy, but any couple would do that. Yes, I do suck her clitty, but simply consider it going down on my lady. That isn't what this story is about – it's simply background. The real story is about my nephew – or perhaps I should say my neice. My brother Bob also married a beautiful Chinese woman, but she is a genetic woman. They live in Malaysia and have a son named Kim. For the Chinese, Kim could be a girl or boy name, much like Chris or Jean here in America. I knew that he had some challenges raising Kim, but never knew the details. One day I was shocked to receive the following letter: "Hello Bill, I should probably talk with your directly about this, but had difficulty finding the words. I've been ashamed of the difficulty that I've had in raising Kim and feel that you are the only one I can turn to. Kim is gender dysphoric, which I know you understand. Born a boy, Kim thinks and acts as a girl, and I can find no medical support to deal with this. I know that you and Lotus will know how to give Kim the help that s(he) needs, and would rather turn her/him over to you than see things go very badly here. Would you be willing to accept Kim as your own? I will draw up the papers to assign you as her legal guardian, and will pay all expenses until she is grown up. Sincerely, Bob" It was the middle of the night in Malaysia, but as soon as it was mid-morning there I called Bob and we talked. He apologized profusely for making his problem mine, and I assured him that it was okay. I agreed to take Kim but would accept no money – I just wanted him to take care of flying her to San Francisco, and handle the immigration documents. I told him that if it were at all possible it would be better if her gender was female. Bob agreed and said he knew some people who could provide such paperwork. It was all agreed, and in a month Kim would be arriving in San Francisco. Lotus and I made arrangements for Kim by converting our guest room in our house to a bedroom for Kim. We knew that she would be troubled, but hoped that she would not have behavior problems. Finally the day arrived and Lotus and I went to the airport and went to the customs office. As Kim's guardian's we had to confirm our identity and hers when she arrived. We waited anxiously and soon Kim appeared. "Uncle Bill?" she said, and I nodded and embraced her. The customs officer was a kindly elderly woman who was very cooperative. After answering a few questions and signing some papers we were on our way. Kim had a single bag of luggage – I wasn't surprised that she had few possessions at this point, but was sure that would change now. I was pleased to find that Kim's paperwork included a Malaysian birth certificate listing her as female. Her passport did as well. That would make everything much easier, since we wouldn't need to go through the complexity of a legal gender change, as Lotus had before we married. The flight was an overnight "red eye" flight, and Kim had not had much sleep, so when we arrived home we took her to her room and suggested that she take a nap, and come see us when she was rested. Kim's English was very good, but her mother had insisted that she learn their native Mandarin as well – a fairly common Chinese practice. While she was now to be an American, I was glad that she had a firm connection to her roots. When Kim was rested she came to see us and we had a long discussion. "I have brought shame to my father," she said, "so he has sent me away. I don't know what to do and do not wish to bring shame to you as well." "Kim, dear," I said, "You have not shamed your father – he simply does not know how to help you. He did not send you here to get rid of you, but to help you lead a better life." "I don't know how I can lead a better life," she said. "Well, you can live every day as a girl," I said. "I could not do that back home," Kim admitted beginning to cheer up, "Only privately in my home, and my parents were always very nervous about it." "We understand you better," said Lotus, smiling. "But how could you possibly understand what it's like for me?" pleaded Kim, beginnng to cry. Lotus took Kim in her arms and said, "Kim, I am like you – I was born a boy." Kim drew back and looked at Lotus, studying her carefully. "But how can that be?" "Things are very different here," I said, "At least in this part of America. We will get a doctor to prescribe female hormones for you so you can develop more fully as a woman." Kim's eyes brightened as she asked, "You mean I will grow breasts?" We nodded and saw Kim genuinely smile for the first time. "There is much different here," I said, "And it will take some time to adjust. You are 14, and we need to get you enrolled in school soon, but we can discuss that later." We had dinner and Lotus took Kim aside and talked with her in Mandarin. As a courtesy to me she only used English when I was part of the conversation, but I thought it was good to reinforce her native language, and it was good practice for Lotus. With Kim's nap, she wasn't tired for bed at the normal time, so we stayed up late watching TV until she drifted off to sleep. Lotus and I put her in her bed and retired to our bedroom, ready for a good sleep after this eventful day! –––––––––––––––––––– To be continued ...
