This was the junior version of the Olympics, highly competitive and a great springboard for his career. At 10 years old, this was James last chance to enter as it was only every 4 years and limited to athletes under 13 years old He had been virtually living on the track for the last 6 months, with his coach pushing him hard to beat his personal best every time. Although he was sporty, his wiry frame and short stature really helped with his chosen discipline, the 5000 metres. He knew winning this final would get him to the games in Paris next year. The starting gun fired, and he set off with ease. By the end of the first lap, he was comfortably in the lead, and coming off the final lap he was at least 100 metres in the lead. On the final bend his absolute worst nightmare came true, he slipped and went flying. He came down hard, not seriously hurt but winded. He tried to jump back up, but the slip had taken his breath away. As he looked up, he saw his biggest rival rush past. He started after him, but it was too late, he crossed the finish line a second behind his rival, and his chance had gone. His parents and coach made an immediate appeal to the judges, he had obviously been the fastest boy on the track and stood a far better chance representing his country next year, but the rules were rules and there was nothing they could do. James was completely deflated -- his big chance to get noticed on the international stage was gone. There would be other competitions, but for over 13 year olds, and it would take him years until he was going to compete at that level His coach came back down to see James & his parents to break the bad news that the judges weren't able to overturn the decision. Is there nothing we can do, his Mum asked? Not really the coach explained, the boys places are all filled. Not really, do you mean there may be something we can do his Dad asked? Well there is one thing we could do if James wanted, but I doubt he would want to the coach said. James immediately perked up -- I'll do anything he said, I've got to be at those games to get noticed. Well the coach said, the girls finals aren't until next week. But I'm a boy he protested, what good is that? Well, the rules have been relaxed in line with LBGT lobbying. If you identify as a girl, you can compete in the girls competition. That's preposterous his Dad said, but his Mum wasn't so quick to object. James said what did that mean, I'd have to run in a dress or something? No the coach explained, if this is going to work, you would need to identify as a girl, and live as such, at least until the games next year. A YEAR! I can't do that. Well it would virtually guarantee you a place on the plane to Paris -- you would be way quicker than anybody I have seen in the girls field. James and his Mum & Dad asked for time to think about it. James was reluctant, but then the carrot at the end of the stick was competing on the international stage. His Mum actually quite liked the idea, she had always wanted a daughter, but after having James, she was unable to have any additional children. His Dad objected but could see the sense if it was only pretending. And so that is how James decided to become Jessica to compete in the Paris Finals His Mum pulled in favours from her friends, and got a lot of donations of clothes -- this was going to be expensive enough to create the new Jessica. She took him down to her hairdressers, and had them style his hair as best they could into a girls style. He was collar length anyway, so an hour later, she had a cute bob. Mum even paid for a manicure & pedicure to get Jessica into the spirit Coming home, Mum started to sort the clothes and Jessica had an afternoon ahead of trying on his new wardrobe. Mum drew a bath with scented oils, and had Jessica wash the boy smell off, before drying her and taking her into the bedroom to try the new clothes on. Her Mum had always thought she had a girls body, being smaller and thinner than any of her friends First came the knickers, there were lots of different pairs, her Mum selected a pair of pink frilly cotton knickers. Jessica started to have second thoughts as she pulled them up, but knew why she had to do this. Next came her first bra, a little training bra. Just a 28a was enough, padded so she had instant boobs. Mum taught Jessica all about tights and how to put them on. This was a lot harder than she imagined, and she laddered two pairs, before she managed to get the third pair on herself. She had to admit she loved the feeling, and could feel a stirring in her knickers, something she never thought she would All afternoon, her Mum helped her try on a variety of outfits, learning the names and styles of dresses, skirts and tops. There didn't appear to be any jeans, just really feminine clothes. Mum explained there couldn't be any doubt she was identifying as a girl, and even feminine jeans and tees could cause issues After the clothes lessons, came make-up tuition. Jessica couldn't believe how much work went into being a girl. But after what seemed like hours, Jessica was ready to make her debut to the world Wearing a short pink skaters dress, cream tights and little heels, a fashionable bob and light make up, she made her way down stairs. Her dad had to do a double take as she walked in -- Jessica was stunning in her new outfit. Her Dad had no idea how feminine she could be yet here she was, and could have fooled anybody that she wasn't anything but 100% female Coach had dropped by whilst Jessica was having the whirlwind introduction to femininity, and dropped off a months worth of tablets for her. In order to meet the strict testing requirements, it was important that her testosterone levels were low enough, so coach had dropped off Estragon and anti-androgen pills for her. Is she was going to do this, she was going to have to go all in, so Jessica took her first dose of medication. Her Mum drove her to school in the morning and took her in to see the principal. She had emailed ahead, and explained about the transition. The school was going to welcome Jessica back as a girl, and she was going to be treated as such. Jessica's confidence took a massive blow as her old friends laughed and cat called as she went to her first lesson. Her old friends turned their backs on her -- nobody wanted to be associated with her. But the girls in the class couldn't believe what a gorgeous young lady Jessica was, and welcomed her into their friend group without any reservations Her first week as a girl flew by, and next Saturday she was ready to compete in the girls final. Her new friends even came to cheer her home as she absolutely smashed the field to run the perfect race and set a new personal best in the final. Some of the other parents objected, that it was just a boy in drag, but the judges held fast that the rules allowed any person who identified as a girl was allowed in the girls race. And so Jessica secured the final place on the team for Paris next year. The coach cautioned Jessica and her parents that she mustn't slip with self-identifying. Some of the unhappy parents may stoop to snooping, and if they got pictures of her not presenting as a girl, then there could be trouble. It was also really important to keep taking the tablets daily so that any tests the organisers ran showed the right balance of hormones. Jessica was loving the new her, and she wasn't going to do anything to jeopardise her place Hope you like the start of this story. If you want to hear what happens next, please let me know.
