The following text is an account of a fictional academic research project set in the near future. It describes the schools on Isla Espiritu Santo, off southern California, and how a policy that required adolescent males to be nude both in school and out was implemented, from the very beginning to the current moment of writing (late 2027).

As such, it is a parody of an academic project. This series begins with a historical essay, and then moves to testimonies from boys, girls, teachers, parents, and members of the community. It will include a representative photographic collection with the full consent and awareness of those who are shown. Tags include: young, old, intergenerational, bi, gay, cfnm, cmnm, and gay incest. Although it depicts mandated behavior in some instances, there is no domination (Dom) in the usual sense of the term. If you enjoy this, you may contact the author at GavinRower2@protonmail.com The full series has already been written, and will continue to be posted.

LETTERS SUBMITTED IN LIEU OF CONVERSATIONS

The following two letters are from the Episcopal priest-in-charge of the Church of the Holy Spirit, and the Isola Women's Health Cooperative, in lieu of longer conversations, and edited for the purposes of this study.

From the Mtr. Mary, the priest-in-charge of the Church of the Holy Spirit:

You asked about the impact that all these nude boys have had upon the island.

My point of view is very limited. I am in semi-retirement, and I do not work with anyone at either of the schools, although with Headmaster Raadengaard I have had very cordial conversations. Most island residents do not choose to be active with any religious community at all, so I see a limited and probably not very representative number of people every week. Since this Church is the only religious community space on the island, we are very careful and sincere to make sure that we are truly welcome to all people, just as they are. When families have requested to hold memorial services in other traditions, or secular remembrance, we are careful to remove particularly Christian symbols from our worship space. Fortunately our name does not indicate any saint or doctrine, and just about every tradition has some kind of holy, spiritual aspect.

A few nude boys began to attend worship in the summer and fall of 2022, just after the vaccines became available, and when life was beginning to return to something like normal, or a post-viral normal. Since Sue is involved with the community and was then serving on our vestry, or governing committee, she communicated to us everything that as going on at the Academy, and later at the middle & high school. I was able to advise our members that we might see nude boys attending, and that we are to welcome them and treat them just as we do anyone else.

The very first week, two boys came by themselves, entering just after we began worship, sat together in the very back, did come forward to receive communion, but then left just before the dismissal, and in this way they avoid really interacting with anyone. Since they or their families had already been attending for some years, I visited them during the next week to make sure they understood that the Church welcomed them just as they are --living nude.

A few of the very oldest members were confused or fussy about this change, but for everyone else it was not a big deal. We were all just happy to be able to come together after a long period of worshipping via Zoom or a few Sundays here or there. We are so small and isolated that a bishop rarely visits us, and we had had no confirmations (which require a bishop) for several years, so in 2025 when I was able to ask a retired bishop to visit, we prepared a confirmation class of seven boys and four girls--unusual because more boys than girls, and by then all of them, of course, nude.

These "confirmands" as call them --candidates for confirmation, which is a ceremony with the bishop--are expected to serve the congregation and the island community in some way during their preparation. Each of the boys read Scripture, or assisted at the altar, sang, or helped in worship in other ways; they also served the community in some way, by visiting shut-ins, or distributing food, or teaching in our small Sunday school. The girls did all these things equally, but your focus is, I realize, on the nude boys.

I am very proud of the way everyone in this church adapted and welcomed the boys. At one time that never would have happened. The bishop, when he arrived, was surprised--even though I had told him before hand, I don't think it really sank it until he was here.

Christianity in its history has had such a negative relationship with the human body. These boys are writing a new chapter, one which accepts and even celebrates their nudity, and their particular beauty. More than simply accepting them, members here have taken them to heart, truly loving them in a way that will help with their development, whether they remain active Christians in the future, or not. We believe that right actions never lose their value, and seeds can be planted which come to fruition year or decades later.

I know that you also spoke with Cy and Jason, and their mothers. Both these boys are particularly dear to us, and when they go to college we will miss them very much.

Thank you for all the thoughtful work you are doing with your study.

From Rowena, the Coordinator of the Isola Women's Health Cooperative:

Thanks for the work you are doing.

From my perspective, the policies requiring that middle & high school boys be nude have had varying outcomes, most of them positive. My work is to ensure community health care for every woman on the island, especially young women.

Sexual harassment and abuse has always been a problem throughout American society, and the island community has not escaped it. Given our mostly residential community, the focus here has been less on workplaces and more on families and homes. The well-publicized issues and rise of family dysfunction, some of which resulted in sexual abuse, during the pandemic years have had a last effect on the island community, and unfortunately some young women suffered during that time.

Those who sought treatment and help, that I know about, have for the most part pursued strategies and decisions that have successfully addressed lasting trauma. The traumas experienced by some of those were at one point inadvertently triggered by the appearance of nude boys with flaccid penises, and especially when nude boys had erections.

Until 2025 we regularly saw clients who were suffering post-traumatic relapses, although in none of those cases was the original trauma brought on by actions of boys who were then nude. Since 2025 the clinical frequency of these relapses has decreased, especially since the generation coming of age after the #me-too movement a decade ago is far less likely to tolerate any kind of aggression or abuse.

My colleagues have never remarked or reported to me any cases involving the sexual abuse of boys, either by other boys, or older males. That there is a good deal of both kinds of activities is beyond doubt, but it does not seem to have led to reported cases of sexual abuse of boys.

Since 2022, we have seen a marked increase in clinical requests for methods of birth control and reproductive health by island women under the age of 18. This help is confidential by law. Our statistics suggest the island women and girls have become both sexually active more often, and more likely to seek birth control. This is a positive consequence of require male nudity, because the female sexuality and sexual activity that is unquestionably fostered in a community of pervasive young male nudity is both more healthy and less likely to result in problematic pregnancies. Publicly observable male desire has fostered not only female desire, but great female responsibility.

There is evidence that young male responsibility has also increased. Our clients report that boys are completely willing to use condoms, and know how to put them on. Apparently there has been hands-on, in-class instruction about condoms in the schools, a development almost entirely attributable to the requirement that these boys attend school nude. Our colleagues in other island health care also report that boys are seeking more often seeking guidance about responsible sexual activities with other boys. This is commendable since the only HIV cases that are known on the island have been continuing cases and management by individuals who contracted (and were diagnosed with ) HIV prior to moving to the island.

In conclusion, I can report that required adolescent male nudity has resulted in several positive outcomes for community reproductive and sexual health. I do note that original this improvement came at some cost to certain female individuals. The atmosphere of far greater candor, equality between the sexes, and sensitivity towards gender-queer or transitioning individuals has definitely contributed to an improved mental, sexual, and reproductive health on the island. Those individuals responsible for these policies are to be commended.
