This story started out of boredom, and has now taken on a life of its own. I've gotten a lot of positive feedback, and some negative. I'm open to suggestions and feedback.

The sex isn't a major part of it, nor is it graphic. If you're looking for masturbation fodder, look elsewhere. There will be many slow times in this story, just like there are in life. Other times, things will fly at you too fast. There will be boring days, and exciting days. It's just how it's flowing.

Here is the house plan I used for inspiration for their new lake house. I've modified it to fit my dream, but this is what gave me the idea of the general layout.

*********************************************************************************************

The other pups gave me their hugs, then headed to work on homework as Morgan took Gail and Allie on their tour. I took Marcus, Paul, and Don on a tour as well, after asking Andrew which rooms he had put them in. As we walked, Marcus told me how he had met Gail when she was working at one of his dealerships. Her first husband was killed in Afghanistan, and she was a 25 year old widow with an infant, doing her best to make ends meet. At the time, he appeared to be in his mid 60's, and he felt the pull of the mating bond days after meeting her. He made excuses, and had her transferred to his main office so he could be around her, hoping to find the right way to tell her the truth.

We were in the family room and had sat down as Marcus was saying "I didn't want her to think I was just a rich old man, looking to bed the staff, so I didn't approach her. I just hoped the right time would come. Then one day she brought Allie to work, saying her sitter had called in sick. The second Allie met me, she jumped into my arms and started saying I was her new Daddy. Poor Gail was so embarrassed, and kept apologizing, explaining about Allie's autism. I ignored her, and just smiled at Allie and took her into my office. She and I spent the day playing with her dolls. When the day ended, Gail came to me asking what kind of magic I was using because Allison had never spoken to a stranger, let alone reacting like she did with me."

"I asked her if I could take them to dinner, then our dinners became every few nights. Then it was taking Allison skating or biking. Allie was the first to see the truth of things, and one day Gail came to work and just walked in and told me she knew my secret and it was fine and one thing led to another, and here we are. That was 8 years ago."

"Gail told me she'd change eventually, but we weren't in a rush. We talked endlessly about whether we should change Allie, and at what age. We still hadn't decided, but two weeks ago, I heard Allie get up in the middle of the night. She says she was going to the bathroom cause her period had started. She was half awake and the next thing I heard was her tumbling down the stairs. The noise woke Gail, and we both went running. We found her at the bottom of the stairs with her head bent at an impossible angle."

Don reached out and put his hand on his brother's shoulder as Marcus wiped his eyes and went on "Thank God her heart was still beating when we got to her. Gail and I looked at each other and we both knew it was now or never, so she just nodded. I carried her to our bed and drained her. When she woke up she just smiled at me and said she was tired of waiting for us to decide. That's all she said, and we've never directly asked, but her comment has us both wondering if her fall was really an accident."

"The next night, my Beta came over and changed Gail. That weekend, he and I hit the blood bank and I refreshed. Gail says she's fine with our seeming age difference for this life, but when she renews, I will too, so we match. With all the stress of what might happen about my status as an illegal Alpha, getting their beasts to come out was a low priority."

I gently put my hand on his shoulder as I said "I don't know what to say Marcus. I recently almost lost two of my pups, so I have an idea of what you went through that night. I hope you will allow my pack to help Gail and Allison get their beasts to surface. We have several females here, but we don't stick to the old ways, so anyone here will be happy to help them. It seems that you and I are destined to be family, as well as working together for the pack."

Marcus smiled at that. "Part of our conversations about changing Allie revolved around her autism. I wasn't sure about changing her. We always knew she'd never live on her own, and to put her into a position where she'd need to live with us for centuries just didn't seem right. That night, none of that mattered. Maybe fate was watching out for her?"

I smiled "I was struggling with the same issue about Morgan. Like Allie, he took the decision out of my hands. Sometime, I'll tell you the whole story, but the short version is that Morgan saved my life by forcing me to drain him when I was severely injured. My son Brandon fed him and changed him. When they do decide to mate, they're welcome to live here, but I think we can all discuss it when that time comes."

I had just said this when Morgan came in with Gail and Allison. I asked him to gather his brothers and ask them to join us. Billy gathered all the adults, and when everyone was here, I spoke.

"After dinner we're going to be a bit crowded so I'd like everyone to know what to expect. For those of you who haven't met them yet, this is Marcus and Gail Sullivan, and their daughter Allison. Marcus is now a Serving Alpha in Boston. Although we'll have to sort out exactly where his territory is, for now we'll just call it Boston. After dinner, there will be 6 additional Alphas here, some with their families, to discuss matters in the New York City area."

"Derrick, you're the oldest pup, so I'd like you to take charge and make their pups welcome. I don't know their ages, so I'm hoping that between all of you, you can each spend some time with them and make some new friends. You're free to use the basement family room, or the pool. Just make their visit enjoyable while I speak to the adults, please?"

"We'll take care of them Dad. They're here through the weekend?"

"They are welcome all weekend, but I don't know how many will stay that long. I don't want you all to miss school just to entertain them. We'll play it by ear."

Derrick nodded and started talking to all the pups, listening to their ideas on what to do while I turned to Marcus and Gail "I'd prefer to meet with them without you at first. If you'd like to discuss magic, Frederick can do that. Or you two can discuss arrangements for hunting. I might want to involve you in the conversations tonight at some point though, so please don't go hunting this evening."

"Not a problem Greg. We'll just relax in here, if that's ok. That way, you'll know where to find me if you need me. We can worry about hunting another night."

I smiled and nodded, then turned to the rest of my core pack "With the Alphas here, I'd like to keep Tommy nearby, with two footman inside the door, and one in the office hallway. I'll meet with them in the office wing library at first, and again, play it by ear as things progress. Amie, if you could have some munchies handy available for the pups?"

"Andrew, I'll need you on duty tonight as well. Beyond that, I think the rest of you can enjoy your evening. Feel free to hang out with Marcus and Gail in here, or use the pool, the gym, or go out for the evening. Just avoid the office wing after dinner please. If you're going to be in the house, please be dressed in the public areas. No one's told me how many will be staying here at the house, so Andrew, you'll have to let everyone know where to go for meals. And speaking of meals, it's about dinnertime, isn't it?" I said, turning to Amie.

"I'm feeding the staff in the kitchen this evening, so dinner will be served in 15 minutes. It will just be you, your mates, Donna, Mary, the pups, and your guests, unless you want anyone else to join you?" Amie said, waiting for me to add to her list.

"I think we'll include Jack, Matt, and Liza as well please." I turned to the pups "You heard her, go get cleaned up and be in the dining room in ten minutes."

Ten minutes later, we were gathered around the dining room table. With 22 of us, the table almost felt empty, but we enjoyed the meal, and the pups kept the conversation going, talking about school and sharing ideas to entertain our guests after dinner. Allie and Morgan were sitting together, and I heard him telling her how his beast was helping him focus at school. She asked to see his beast, and when he looked to me for permission, I nodded. When he shifted, she smiled and told him how handsome he was. His face was as red as his eyes as he said he had seen her beast in his mind, and she was beautiful.

As we finished our dinner, I asked Derrick to organize the pups and get them showered and dressed in jeans. I made it clear that they were to remain clothed while our guests were here. Chipper asked what they should wear if they went swimming and I realized that none of our pups owned a swimsuit. I looked at Scott and he just grinned. I suggested they put off swimming until we got to know everyone a bit better. The pups were disappointed, but they agreed.

Andrew came to say that our guests had left the airport and would be here in an hour, so my mates and I headed to our room to change. Billy had suggested we wear our suits, but Scott and I agreed that this was pack, not business, and we wanted to be more open and friendly. Billy finally agreed to a compromise, so we all wore casual dress slacks and polo shirts. Bea was stressing about being the only female, so I sent a thought to Josh, asking him to bring Samantha, and letting him know what we were wearing.

We had all just gathered in what we called the business library, when Andrew came in leading our group of guests.

"Sir, may I present Rodney Adcock, his mate Malcolm, and their son Cody, Theo and Kasey Chester, Martin and Judy Foster and their son Jarrod, Nikita Markov, Lester and Alice Howard, and Blake and Brandie Warner and their sons Jamie and Nathan. Ladies and Gentlemen, Prince Gregory Warnick."

"Thank you Andrew, I'll take it from here. I'm Greg Warnick, and this is our mate Scott, our Beta and mate Billy, our mate Bea, our son and my heir Joshua and his mate Samantha, and our sons Derrick, Morgan, Brandon, and Chipper. We also have two toddlers that are with their grandmothers for the evening, and a daughter who is away on business with her mate." I had decided to meet them without Don and Paul. They were in with Marcus, if I needed them.

As I had asked him to do, Derrick stepped forward and said "If it's alright with their parents, my brothers and I would like to invite Cody, Jarrod, Jamie and Nathan to join us and a few other pups from the pack, in the basement family room. We would like to get to know you while our parents talk." I needed to remember to commend him on getting all of their names on the first introduction.

The four boys looked to their parents for guidance, and when everyone had agreed, they all followed Derrick and our pups out of the library. Once the pups were gone, Andrew looked to me, and when I nodded, he left, closing the doors behind him.

I stepped forward and said "I'd like to start by apologizing to you all. I've had several major changes in my life recently, and somehow, I've ended up Alpha to my father's pack. Until today, I had assumed that only included Pittsburgh. I understand my father has neglected you and your packs, and I'd like to sit and talk about what can be done to fix that."

The men all exchanged looks, then Rodney stepped forward "Alpha, on the plane, we discussed it and I've been elected to speak for everyone. I'll be blunt. Alpha James hasn't cared about the vampires in his pack for more than a century. That said, most vampires in New York still consider themselves as part of his pack. None of us are wealthy, and we each have our own stories as to how it happened, but basically, we all phased into Alphas to fill the void. None of us wanted the role, but it happened, and we've done our best to care for our packs. We're open to listening to you, but we are concerned that we'll be abandoned again, so I hope you'll understand our being hesitant to just walk in and submit."

I smiled "I'm open to discussing this in whatever manner you'd like. We can all sit in here, or the Alphas can join Josh, Billy and I in the next room where we can discuss details while our mates relax some. Like I said, my goal is to resolve this in whatever way best serves the vampires of New York."

Again there was a short exchange of looks and Rodney said "For now, I think we should join you in the next room, if you don't mind?"

Scott spoke up at this point "While they talk business, I'll take the rest of you down to see how the pups are doing, then we can sit and chat a bit." And as he, Bea, and Samantha led the Alpha mates out of the room, Billy headed into the conference room.

Before we followed him, I said "Don't be shy, there's a bar in here if you'd like a drink. We also have beer, wine, soft drinks, and fresh deer, rabbit, and beef blood if you prefer. We've just finished dinner, so if you're hungry I'll be happy to have something brought in."

That was met with silence, so I followed Billy, and sat at the head of the conference table. Billy stood behind me as Joshua sat at the other end, with the others taking seats around the table.

Rodney was about to speak when Nikita spoke up "I cannot take it any longer. Don't you see Rodney? He is just like I told you. Rich and power hungry. Even his man made a point of saying `Prince' when he introduced us. Just like my Grandfather. You think you can summon us to come and bow to you because you're on that damned Council? I will not do it. I will not let you treat my pack like trash. Kill me if you must, but my pack is all I have left."

Blake tried to calm him "Nikki, please. At least let him speak before you decide. We all agreed we'd hear him out."

"Fine! I will hear him, but I swear to you, I will die protecting my pack. You know this! Go ahead Alpha, say what you called us here to say. I am listening."

I was glad for Blake's delay, as it gave me time to think about what Nikita had said first. I took a huge risk, considering who his grandfather was, but I had a feeling about it, so I spoke quietly and calmly "Alpha Markov, no one is going to kill anyone. I don't know your story, but it's clear you don't like the Council. I'll put my life on the line with yours by saying that I don't agree with the Council on many things myself." They all looked at me in shock, but I went on "For centuries, the Council has put some vampires to death simply because they were different. I don't agree with that, and I intend to do everything in my power to change that."

I thought I was done, but for some reason, I added "I don't think you're aware of the fact that I am a changeling?"

Nikita looked at me and for the first time I saw something other than anger on his face. "How old are you?"

"I was born human 17˝ years ago, and I was changed in June of this year."

"And did I understand you correctly, you have two male mates and a female? You're a quad mated Alpha?"

"You heard correctly. And I will add, my human father died in June, and we discovered I had a half-brother. We adopted him, as his mother was also dead. I'm happy to share more of my story with you, but it all started with those events in June."

His eyes registered his shock, but he seemed to understand the bigger picture, and he kept his thoughts to himself. "Are you saying you won't take my pack and treat them as cattle?"

"I'm saying I won't take your pack at all. I'm saying that you, and your friends here, obviously care about those in your packs, or you wouldn't be here. I'm saying that all I want to do is to try to help you make their lives even better. I'm not asking any of you to step aside, I'm asking you all to step up and let me help you take care of those you love. It was my father's responsibility to care for them, and he failed. That's why we're here tonight, because you stepped up. Legally, it's still my responsibility, and I'm asking to do what he should have done, if you'll let me."

The other 5 were staring at the table now, thinking about what I had said, but Nikita's eyes were locked on mine. After what seemed like an eternity, he lowered his eyes ever so slightly and said "I will continue to listen. Please, tell us how you will help."

After Nikita had given that little sign, the rest were more than happy to tell me their stories. When Rodney had said that none of them were wealthy, he wasn't quite telling the whole story. Most of them were doing quite well when they had first phased, but they had each used their own personal savings whenever a vampire in their pack had a crisis that money would resolve. Since James, or Matt in the last century, owned most of the vampire run businesses in the city, they didn't have access to cash. As a group, the six of them had a combined net worth of roughly zero, yet they had come here ready to fight to protect their packs from my greed and ambition.

They told me how they organized home school groups, so parents could work together to give their pups a basic education. They told how they had paid for college for hundreds of young vampires over the last century, hoping that some of them would return and help their packmates in the same way. Some had returned, but many had simply taken the education and moved elsewhere. They told me how they struggled to provide homes for orphaned or abandoned pups, and that for every one they saved, there were ten that still lived on the streets, either selling drugs, or their bodies, to provide food for themselves.

By the time they were finished telling me all of this, Billy, Josh and I were in tears. I took a minute to dry my eyes and gather my thoughts, then I looked each of them in the eyes. "Please let me help you help your packs. I can do so much to make things better, if you'll let me. If you'll work with me.

I think the other five were more shocked than I was when Nikita was the first to speak up. I had a feeling he knew a lot more than he was wanting to say in front of this group. He stood and bowed his head "Alpha Warnick, I ask your forgiveness for my earlier outburst. I ask mercy for being an illegal Alpha in your pack. I beg you to allow me to serve you by continuing to help my pack, as a Serving Alpha. I put my life in your hands, Sire."

To the others, his use of `Sire' was simply him submitting to me as his Alpha, but I was sure his choice of wording was intentional. I stood and walked around the table to where he stood. I pulled him into a hug as I said "I accept your Service, Alpha. I hope we can do great things for your pack's future, starting tonight." I held him a long time, as I felt him melting into my hug, sobbing softly, then recovering his composure.

I went back to my seat, and before I could sit, the others were standing, waiting their turn to offer their service, and their packs. And offering themselves to my justice. I waited, and let each of them make their speech, then I spoke to them as a group.

"My judgement, as to justice, is simply this. I find no fault in any of your actions, and as such, you are all confirmed as legal Serving Alphas in the Warnick pack. I ask that you make an effort to calculate what you've spent on your packs over the years, so that I can repay you financially. There is no way I can repay the personal debt this pack owes you for doing what you've done, but I will make up your financial losses."

"You should know that I already have a group in the city that is on the streets, looking at the homeless and they have the authority to do whatever they need to do to help with that issue. We'll discuss schools, and other issues over the next few days and sort out what needs done in New York. I want to sit with each of you individually also, so I can hear those things you're reluctant to discuss in front of the others. I ask that you be painfully honest with me, so I can help you in any way I can. Trust me when I tell you that anything you say to me, in my office, stays in my office. Now, unless anyone objects, I think we should join our mates and I'd like to check how the pups are getting along."

They all stood and I sent a thought to Billy, asking him to show them around. I could see Nikita hesitating and I felt he wanted a word. When he and I were the only ones left I looked at him and said "I think we understand each other better than the others know, and I'm trusting you with my life, and the lives of my pups."

"I agree Sire, and I ask that you permit me to be your first private conversation so you can take my blood, to know that my loyalty is with you, and not my Grandfather."

"I don't make that a habit, but considering the issue, it's something I may have to do. And I am anxious to hear your reasons, but now isn't the time. Please, join me and my family, for now."

He followed me down and we found the pups, all naked as the day they were born. Chipper, Cody, Andy, and Nathan were playing Rocket League, as Morgan and Allie cheered them on from the loveseat. Lucas, LeAnn, Brandon and Jarrod were all on a couch, with Bobby, Teddy, and Kailani at their feet, watching `Monsters, Inc'. Jamie and Derrick were in the chairs also watching the movie. When he saw me, Derrick got up and came over.

"Dad, can we talk a minute?"

"Sure buddy, what's up?" I said, as we walked into the hallway.

"I think Jamie thinks I'm his mate. He hasn't said anything about it, but he's looking at me like Morgan was looking at Allie."

"And how do you feel?"

"I have no clue. I mean he's cute and all, but he's 7. And I'm human. I don't know what to do, Dad."

"He's 7, but you're 15, so it's comparable. In a year, he'll look a bit older than you. Is he bothering you?"

"Oh no, I mean, he's nice, and really smart, and I do kinda like him. I just don't know what to do about the age thing, and I'm still human, so I don't know how that would affect things, or how his parents will react. I mean, I didn't ask him, but will they be upset if we are mates? About the gay thing and all, you know."

"I think you're worrying about way too much, way too soon. Why don't you go back and just get to know him a bit more. Maybe in your conversation, you'll find that his parents won't care. Maybe you'll find out he just sees you as a friend, and he's already got a girlfriend. Or maybe you will find that he's your mate. Would that be a bad thing?"

"I guess not. If he is, there's so much we'd have to figure out. Like, he lives in New York, and I live here. He's a vampire and I'm human."

"You're really stuck on that `human' thing, aren't you? Let's talk about it again tomorrow, ok? For now, I have another question for you."

"What's that, Dad?"

"What happened to my asking you all to stay dressed?" I asked, raising my eyebrows.
