The sex isn't a major part of it, nor is it graphic. If you're looking for masturbation fodder, look elsewhere. There will be many slow times in this story, just like there are in life. Other times, things will fly at you too fast. There will be boring days, and exciting days. It's just how it's flowing.

Chapter 59

Sometime during the night our room was invaded. I woke to find Charlie on my chest and Davie at my side. Behind him, Morgan lay with his arms over us while Derrick and Brandon were on the other side. Scott was buried under Jesse and Jeremy, with Josh at his side. Chipper was curled up on Billy and Bea was holding the girls, breastfeeding. I realized that the only one missing was Eric, I wondered at that.

I decided to test the limits of our oversized shower, so I made no attempt at being quiet as I got out of bed, pulling Charlie and Davie with me. I told the other pups to follow, and we all actually fit. It was tight, but not uncomfortable. Josh loved being a big brother, and lovingly washed the smallest pups, while Derrick and Morgan washed Scott and me. Brandon and Billy washed each other, then the pups got into a splashing contest that only ended when Scott, Billy, Josh, and I turned the temperature to ice. It settled the boys, and they quickly got out, but it upset Bea, as she had just got the girls asleep and the screaming boys woke them. She ordered us all to get to the kitchen and eat. Scott and I each grabbed one of the girls and we led our noisy bunch to breakfast.

We were met by our pup's mates, and future mates, and those in the pack that cared for my family and home. As I looked around the kitchen, I realized that another housing adjustment was due, so I sat and talked with Andrew, Johnny, and Leonard about options. As we talked, we ate, and by the time we were done, nothing had been decided. I told Johnny and Leonard to put together drawings of what they thought we should do, and I finally agreed that we could move people out of the house into nearby homes, if they wanted. I made it clear that anyone that wanted to stay in this house was welcome, so they had to make it work. Billy joked that they should plan rooms for another twenty pups and Bea smacked him.

I had just asked if anyone knew where Eric was when he and Jennifer walked in. Everyone turned to stare, and my eyes scanned their naked bodies and I knew immediately why he hadn't joined his brothers in our bed. Both of them had huge smiles on their faces as Derrick jumped up and hugged his brother.

Eric's eyes met mine and his smile faded as he lowered his gaze and said "We got carried away last night and it just happened. I'm sorry Father."

I went to him and took him into my arms as I said "Sorry for what? For bonding with your mate? I couldn't be happier for you." I touched the mating mark on his chest and added "If you want a ceremony, I'll be proud to do it."

"That's why we're late for breakfast Greg." Jennifer said "We were talking about it and, if you will, we'd like you to come to the barbeque next week and do it at our home, with our pack there."

I asked her "Did you explain how a traditional bonding ceremony is done? Is that what you want? Or a more human wedding type of thing?"

Before she could answer, Eric spoke up "They say `in for a penny, in for a pound', so we want a traditional ceremony. Samantha and LeAnn told Jen about theirs on the beach, and at the rock, and we thought it sounded so loving that we want that, with our pack present."

I said "Well, you've already bonded, so we can just do a nice ceremony if you like."

"No Dad, I grew up rather conservative, but that's not my world now, and I have to accept that things are different. We want a ceremony, then we will make love and renew our bites, with our pack. I don't know if you're willing, but I think I want what you did with Josh too."

"That's entirely up to you, son. We can discuss it more tomorrow."

"I know, today's busy enough. The funeral, then changing the squirt." Eric said, as he ruffled Derrick's wet hair.

"About that," Derrick said, cautiously "I talked to Steph and Jamie, Dad, and I still want changed tonight."

"Until it's done, you can always change your mind son, but tonight is yours, if you want it." I said.

He smiled, then turned back to Eric and punched his shoulder as he said "Now you two can start on making my nephew!"

Eric laughed and shoved his brother as he said "Already working on it, little bro, or don't you know how the mating bond is done?"

"Well, once is not enough." Derrick said, as he sat to finish his breakfast.

All eyes turned to Jennifer when she grinned and said "Sometimes, once is all it takes."

I couldn't stop myself, and I took in her scent. I wasn't sure if what I smelled was just their bond or something else, so I asked "Do you really think so?"

She shrugged and said "Well, the timing was perfect, and I feel different, but that could just be the mating bond. But we're hoping to give you your first grandson."

"You might give him his first grandson, but I'm already working on his first grandchild." Tanya laughed, as she and Sam walked in.

Eric and Jennifer had not met our oldest daughter, so they spent a few minutes getting to know each other as we all finished breakfast. When we were done, I told everyone to get dressed and be ready to meet guests by 10. The actual funeral was scheduled for 11, and I was expecting everyone would be early.

Scott had taken all our pups to see Tyler Daniels and she had pulled out all the stops to get my boys dressed for the funeral. Eric, Josh, and Derrick looked like the dignified young leaders they were. Morgan, Brandon, Jeremy, Jesse, and Chipper looked like fine young men, about to come into their own, and Davie and Charlie just looked cute. Nothing says wedding or funeral better than a toddler in a suit and tie.

Scott, Billy, and I were in dark suits, while Bea wore a knee length black dress. Mom was in a black dress that draped to the ground, with a black hat and veil that hung from the hat, covering her face.

We stood in front of the small stage in the front yard and greeted our guests. On the stage were a few tripods with poster sized photos of Dad, as well as the painting of him that used to hang in the library. There was a round stand, with a vase of ashes sitting atop it, supposedly containing what was left of my father.

Mom introduced me to several couples that she and Dad had known for years, and she had short conversations with each of them as they passed by, paying their respects. The first notable guest was Prince Igor Markov. His large party stayed back as he walked up and bowed his head to Mom, saying how sorry he was for her loss, and saying how much he had respected Dad, then he stepped to me.

"Thank you for coming, Prince Markov. I know my mother is happy you're here today." I said, remaining calm as I shook his hand.

"I wish we were meeting again under better circumstances, Gregory, but death is part of life. I'm happy to see you surrounded by so many friends and family, to support you in this time of grief."

"I have lots of support, thank you Igor." I said, wondering if he caught my double meaning.

His reply told me we understood each other, as he said "Sometimes one thinks he has enough, but we can be mistaken."

Our verbal duel completed, he stepped aside as my mates, Mom, and I continued to greet guests. I saw him noticing as each of my Serving Alphas greeted Mom, then bowed their heads in submission as they greeted me. George came through the line and gave Mom a gentle hug and whispered something in her ear. I could see her smile behind the veil as she nodded her head, then he stepped to me. Igor couldn't hide his shock as George bowed his head to me, in an obvious sign of deference, and offered his sympathies. Markov's shock was compounded as Sam, Dimas, Hiroki, Hasim, and Reinhardt greeted me in the same manner, bowing their heads in respect.

All heads turned as Prince Yuan got out of a limo, then helped a frail, old, Asian man out of the back. My spell was still holding, and Prince Yuan led Dad to greet Mom. Prince Yuan introduced Dad as an old friend, and explained how his plans had changed and he was happy he could attend today. I was worried that our plan would be exposed as Mom wasn't able to contain herself completely, and wrapped Dad in a tight embrace. Yuan bowed his head to me, then quietly led Dad to the chairs at the front, reserved for the princes and their parties.

Our greeting every guest had caused us to run late, but that was fine. It allowed the few latecomers the chance to arrive without drawing attention, and when I felt that no more would arrive, I walked to the stage. Mom had a chair at my side, with Matt, Liz, and Jack on her far side. Scott, Billy, and Bea on my other side. Behind us were our pups and their mates, with Mary holding the girls as Charlie and Davie sat on either side of her. As the crowd grew quiet, I stood and walked to the podium, to start my father's funeral.

I looked around at the faces in the crowd, then the faces of my Alphas, and finally, I scanned the faces of the princes. I saw love and respect from all but one. Igor sat with a slight scowl, but seemed lost in thought, as if processing all he'd seen so far today. I took a deep breath, and spoke.

"Today, we are here to honor the life of James Warnick, born July 22, 1497, in Zell, Germany. The son of Baron Erich Johann Zell, mate of Donna Warnick, and father of Joseph, Matthew, Scott, and myself, and grandfather to Jack, Eric, Joshua, Tanya, Derrick, Morgan, Brandon, Jesse, Jeremy, Chipper, Charlie, Davie, Valerie, and Camilla. James was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and a great businessman. He has been missed by those who love him."

"James Warnick was a man of honor and integrity, and I want to honor him today by being open and honest with you all. We could stand here for hours and listen as many of you told stories of his long life, but I want to focus today on one day in his life. The last day he was in New York City. The day Kevin Spencer tried to kill him."

There were gasps from most of the crowd, and everyone was looking around in confusion. I was happy to note that Tommy had a man standing with every one of Igor's security detail. George and Sam had their people sitting on either side of Igor's seated party, watching them for any signs of trouble.

I went on "Kevin Spencer was a traitor to his Alpha, and his pack. He and Dad went to dinner in Manhattan, and he tried to force Dad to share information about me. When Dad refused, Kevin attacked him as they walked past an alley. He tried to feed from my father, and planned to kill him after getting the information he wanted. Kevin Spencer wasn't acting on his own though, he was acting on orders from Igor Markov."

Igor leapt to his feet and shouted "That is a lie! How dare you accuse me of such a thing! Where is your proof? I demand you provide evidence or I shall kill you for your lies, you arrogant pup!"

I glared at him as I said "My proof is there." I removed the disguise and there were more gasps as the frail old man changed back into my father. He stepped onto the stage and stood at my side.

"He is a witch! It is a trick, and he's bewitching you all! Don't listen to his lies!" Igor shouted as he took a few steps in my direction.

I noticed his men made no moves to support him, and several of them lowered their heads in shame at their Prince's behavior. I saw a few talking to Tommy's men, and could tell by the body language that they were making it clear they wouldn't be a threat to anyone.

Dad stepped up and said "My son is speaking the truth. Kevin Spencer tried to convince me to kill my own son, and when that failed, he hounded me for information that he could take to Igor Markov. Finally, he attacked me. I would have died, if Greg hadn't stepped in and killed him."

There were more shocked cries from the crowd as they heard I had killed Kevin, a member of the Council of 27. Everyone was looking around, murmuring about everything that was being said.

Igor shouted "Grab him! He must be held accountable for killing a Council Member!"

When no one moved to follow his orders, he growled "I will kill you myself!" as he shifted and rushed towards the stage.
