I was reading things and I noticed my more recent chapters are much shorter than earlier ones. I will try to rectify that, But I don't want to just write words to have words.

The sex isn't a major part of this story, nor is it graphic. If you're looking for masturbation fodder, look elsewhere. There will be many slow times in this story, just like there are in life. Other times, things will fly at you too fast. There will be boring days, and exciting days. It's just how it's flowing.

This is supposed to be a companion to this story, but I'm struggling to write it.

Chapter 90

With that simple statement, Derrick had the attention of everyone in the room. The conversations around the room came to a halt and every eye focused on him. He looked around, then called Brandon to his side.

"Just before we found Mom and Pop, Grace showed me everything the FBI had found. I didn't discuss it with anyone, including my mates, so that we all could come to our own conclusions without influence. On the plane, I had her show everything to Brandon, Jarrod, Jamie, Stephanie, Mom, Pop, Frederick, and Grand-père. Once everyone had seen everything, Grace individually asked us all what we had concluded. She then told me that everyone agreed with my conclusions, and the FBI also agreed."

I nodded and said "You are telling me that this isn't just an opinion. You're saying that your conclusions are supported by the evidence?"

"I am, Father. Forgive my longwinded start, but I wanted you to understand that this wasn't a snap decision, nor was it just my opinion. Whenever you like, we can show you all the evidence, but I'll describe it the best I can." I waved for him to go on, so he did. "The first physical evidence was the blast pattern. From the way things blew outward from the vicinity of the kitchen, my first impulse was that it was either a gas explosion or that, somehow, a device was planted in the kitchen."

Derrick paused, but no one spoke. He went on "Sarah's body was found in the kitchen, badly burned. On reading the autopsy report, I saw the term `flash burns', and a very high concentration of natural gas in her lungs and in the burns on her body. In the video from the camera in the kitchen, you can clearly see Sarah lighting a burner on the stove, and the flash of the explosion starts."

I stood there stunned as I asked "So this was all just a horrible accident?"

Derrick nodded as he said "Yes. There was no evidence of anything out of the ordinary. There was one explosion, centered on the stove in the kitchen, and there were no traces of explosives of any type. They're still examining the physical evidence to trace the source of the gas. We want to know if it was an oven left on, or a leak, or what, but there is no doubt it was an unintentional gas explosion."

I stared at my son for a moment, then he slowly nodded, as if to confirm what he had just said. I turned to see Scott and Bea also nodding. I took a deep breath, then turned to William and said "Would you and Christian care to accompany Joshua, Billy, and me in visiting Igor?"

William thought for a few seconds, then said "Are you wanting us as witnesses? For moral support? Or just offering Christian the chance to meet him?"

I grinned and said "All of the above?"

William gave a small laugh and said "I'll give you points for honesty." He waved his hand and said "Lead on, Macduff."

I laughed and said "Isn't it `Lay on, MacDuff, and damned be him that first cries hold.'?"

Christian laughed and said "You're correcting a British Royal on Shakespeare?"

I laughed and pointed at William, saying "He's the one that screwed up the quote. Anyway, let's go talk to Igor." I turned and headed towards the hall but Derrick stepped in front of me.

"Even if he didn't bomb the house, he's evil. You can't just ignore his past."

I pulled Derrick into a hug and whispered to him "I ignored yours, why wouldn't I do the same for him?"

When he pulled back and looked in my eyes, I noticed the tear. I could see him thinking, so I waited. He lowered his eyes and said "I did what I had to do, to survive."

I gave him a gentle smile as I said "As did he, Derrick. As did he. We weren't there, and we can't judge his motives."

Naturally, Brandon had been at Derrick's side this whole time, and he spoke up, saying "You drank from him, Dad. You said he was bitter and jealous."

I nodded and said "He was, and probably still is. That doesn't mean that was the motive for his actions." I looked at my sons, then looked around the room at the rest of my family, and made a decision. I turned to William and said "I think it might be better if I bring Igor in here. Allow my family to hear what he has to say."

William nodded, so I said "Since he knows you, would you come with me to get him?"

The security guard snapped to attention, then inclined his head, as William and I approached. He made no effort to prevent my knocking, and I heard a strong voice say "You may enter, Sire. It is your home, after all."

I opened the door and went in with William behind me. Igor's eyes flashed for a second when he noticed the Drăculești family crest on my coat. He stood, inclined his head to me and said "What can I do for you, Sire?"

I thought for a moment, then said "First, tell me what I should call you. Would you prefer Igor, Vlad, another name I'm not aware of, or shall I call you Grandfather?"

He hesitated just a second, then said "My heart would like to hear Grandfather someday, but I do not believe that day is today. In this castle, I believe Vlad would create less confusion, don't you, Sire?"

"Regardless of anything that has transpired between us, or anything you've done in your past, there is no doubt you are my great grandfather. As such, unless you object, my mates, my pups, and I will call you Strămoş. Is that acceptable to you?"

His face registered a mix of shock, joy, and hope as he said "It is."

I noticed he failed to say `Sire', and I gave him a barely perceptible smile as I said "Then, please, come meet your nepoții. Mine, and several others. We would like to hear the story from you, so we can try and understand. We need to remove the barriers between us."

He waved his hand and said "Lead the way, fiul."

As I turned for the door, I said "We have stretched my Romanian to my limits. I should study it, but for now, I think it best we remain in English." I stopped and added "With the exception of teaching my pups what Strămoş means."

Igor followed me, with William right behind. The guard looked unsure of what to do, but I settled that quickly by instructing him to contact Colonel McNeil. When Tommy answered, I explained what was happening and he directed his man to stand down, but remain nearby.

We walked down the hall and back to the family room where everyone was gathered. The room slowly fell silent as they noticed Vlad standing behind me. Rather than dance around things, I decided to jump right in, so I pulled him forward and addressed my family.

"I present to you Igor Markov, also known as Vlad Dracul, Vlad the Dragon, Vlad Tepes, Vlad the Impaler, and Vlad Dracula." I turned to Vlad with a grin and asked "Did I miss any?"

He smirked and said "You missed several hundred, Sire, but you certainly hit the most relevant ones."

I grinned as I said "I forgot the most important one, at least for my pups. Vlad is my great grandfather, and as such, my pups shall address him as Strămoş. We have a history to work past, so I cannot order you to love him, but you all will respect him, as your ancestor and elder. Am I clear?" I looked around the room at my pups, and they each lowered their eyes as I heard a mix of `yes Father', `yes Daddy', and `yes Sir'.

I started with my mates, then introduced my pups to their great great grandfather. When I had finished with my pups, I introduced Vlad Dracula to the young royals of Europe. When I had said the name of everyone in the room, Niko rolled over with Easton in his lap.

Easton asked "Daddy, can my human family come meet Strămoş?"

And before I could answer, Niko asked "Can we have a picnic on the patio? I'm hungry."

I was thinking about this when Derrick came up to me and said "We need to get back to the US, Father. Can you find time to talk with Grace?"

While it wasn't fun with them coming at me so fast, I was so happy to, once again, have my pups around me, looking for my attention. I looked at Easton and said "Yes, they may. Niko will take you to them." I turned to Niko and said "While you do that, get word to Andrew. I think grilled steaks would be a wonderful idea. Make sure he brings fresh blood for everyone. Oh, and tell him we need to taste test you and Easton, he'll understand."

Niko looked at me and grinned "Didn't you already taste us?"

I gently smacked his head as he rolled away with Easton riding his lap. Then, I turned to Derrick. "Am I reading things correctly? We are safe to open up to Grace about anything and everything?"

Derrick inclined his head as he said "That would be my advice, Sire. I will not disclose the details, but she has exposed herself to us as much as we have to her."

I turned to Joshua, and he thought for several seconds before he nodded. I turned back to Derrick and said "Bring her to me. Explain that, due to timing, I am meeting with her at a family affair, and warn her about the dress code." I turned to Billy and said "I hadn't realized how comfortable I have become with being naked. Seeing my pups naked, I want to go undress, and I'm going to."

Billy and Josh agreed with me, so we excused ourselves and headed to our room. As we were undressing, Niko rolled in with his passenger still aboard. Easton was helping Niko undress, and when the diaper was exposed, Easton looked confused. Niko was still explaining things as Billy, Josh, and I headed back to the patio.

As I walked through the door, I looked around the patio and realized I didn't see one shirt, pair of shorts, pair of underwear, or even a towel. Every one of my pups, my mates, and the rest of my extended family were naked and comfortable. Our guests, the princes and princesses, were also naked and all seemed comfortable. Finally, I recognized Grace, talking with Derrick and Brandon, and she was also, naked and comfortable.

I walked over and she bowed as I said "Welcome to our home, Agent Burroughs."

"Please, call me Grace, Your Majesty."

"Well, Grace, my son says you played a major role in saving my family and friends. I would love to hear about it."

Grace looked embarrassed and said "Sire, with all due respect, I am not at liberty to discuss it with you. I have asked Derrick and Brandon to keep my secret, and I am asking you to allow them to honor that pledge. I believe, there will come a time I can talk freely, but for now, I cannot."

I turned to Derrick and asked "Is she asking too much?"

He looked at Grace for a moment, then turned to Brandon. When his Beta nodded, Derrick looked me in the eyes and said "She is not, Sire. Similar to what she said, there may come I time I have to reveal her secret, but today is not that time. I will, of course, tell you everything if you order it."

I shook my head as I said "I would never dishonor you in that way, Alpha. I trust your judgment in this matter, and as such" I turned to Grace and continued "I will not push, but I must ask. If you will not share your story, why did you accompany my family to Dracul?"

"Frankly, Sire, I came to explain everything, if you insisted. That aside, I came to meet you."

I got one of my feelings, so I went with the impulse and said "I will continue to honor your privacy, but I would like to offer you a position in Dracul. My son Patrick was my investigator and, as you know, I lost him in the explosion."

"I would consider it, Sire. Would you require my becoming a vampire?"

"I would never require that of anyone, Grace. I realize you have a lot to consider, and possibly a family to discuss it with, so there is no rush."

I saw Andrew waiting to speak to me so I turned. He stepped up and said "Sire, shall I have the staff do the grilling? Or would you prefer to handle it personally?"

I laughed and said "Thank you, Andrew. I think the professionals should handle it, don't you? I would hate a future King to come down with food poisoning. Anything else?"

Andrew grinned at my comment, then said "You asked for a taste test for your pups. If you will allow, we have access to a larger variety of fresh blood here than we did in Pittsburgh. I would like to ask you and your family to taste several bloods and tell me your preferences?"

"Are you saying Whitetail deer or rabbit are unavailable?" I asked.

"No, Sire. Whitetails are in the Czech Republic, and we can easily have the others flown in. I only bring this up because the meat on the grill this evening is a Red Deer, which is native to most of Europe. I have several gallons of Cape Hare and Daghestan tur, as well half a gallon each of Guinea fowl and Rock Partridge. I would suggest you and your mates try these? And allow your pups, if there is enough left."

Bea said "I've tasted all of those, and I can tell you that I enjoy Red Deer. As much as I love it, I've only had Rock Partridge twice. Since he likes sheep, Billy will probably like tur."

Andrew nodded and said "I thought the same, Your Highness, but there are many breeds of sheep we can choose from, as well."

I looked around and thought about our guests. Christian had been chatting with Brandon and had heard the conversation. He saw my hesitation and said "Greg, please, we're all human, but we've been to dinner parties with vampires. No one is going to be upset seeing you drinking blood."

I smiled at him, then turned to Andrew "Set up blind tasting. Bring samples of every blood you have, please."
