Sorry buddy for getting some on you, I'll wipe it off, but thanks for being close, I needed that." Uncle Aaron cleaned off Scruffy as Scruffy gave him kisses. "OK, boy I guess it's time for sleep now." Scruffy went back to Uncle Aaron's feet, his favorite sleeping spot, and they both fell asleep. ................ The next morning came early as they all got very little sleep with all the excitement of the upcoming adventure. The boys were the first to descend the stairs to smells of breakfast being made. "Have a seat at the table boy's I've made coffee so help yourself to that, the bacon should be done soon, and you'll be getting eggs and pancakes. You need a hearty breakfast for today. And I've packed some sandwiches and fruit for the journey." Said grand mom at the stove. Dad and Daddy appeared next as Stevey, and I poured us all some coffee. Uncle Aaron and Scruffy soon arrived and Scruffy went straight to grand mom and sat patiently for his piece of bacon. "OK, boy here's your piece." Said grand mom as she removed one of the pieces that had already cooled. Granddad soon arrived and grabbed a cup of coffee. "You boys don't have to worry about the place. Martha and I will take good care of it and if we need any help, we know the office number." Said granddad. "We know the place is in good hands, couldn't think of anyone we would trust it to more." Daddy said. Grand mom served up the breakfast and we all ate until we were stuffed. It was getting to be close to 5 so we got our travel cloths on and headed for the garage and the SUV. A light dusting of snow had fallen over night and the grounds of the compound looked amazing in the waning moon light. "Now you boy's be safe and call us when you get to Millinocket and back there after your hike." Granddad said. Grand mom gave us all one last hug and kiss as we loaded up and handed us a lunch that would easily feed a small platoon. We all waved goodbye and began the trip to Baxter State Park. "I hope they don't run into many problems; I would miss them terribly." grand mom said with tears in her eyes. "Don't you worry none, they're going to be just fine." Said granddad holding her tight as they waved at our disappearing SUV. "Before you know it, we'll all be sitting around the fireplace with them sharing all their tales. The drive to Millinocket was pretty much uneventful but the predicted snowstorm began to arrive a bit early. By the time we made it to the dike at Millinocket Lake and off loaded the snowmobiles it was coming down pretty hard. "Looks like we got our first taste of Murphy's law." said Daddy as he secured the SUV and trailer. Stevey and I found a phone booth and called grand mom to let them know we arrived safely. "Well at least we'll be on a well-marked road and trails. It shouldn't put us behind schedule by much." Stevey added as we loaded up the snowmobiles for the trip to the Parking Lot where we would begin our hike to the Hurd Brook Shelter. Following the Golden Road was fairly easy, but the snow began to blow pretty hard causing us to go very slow. Scruffy was loving it riding behind Uncle Aaron on his snowmobile. His tongue was out wildly trying to catch the snow as it blew around him. Several times he jumped off the snowmobile and ran next to Uncle Aaron. "I guess we might as well let him run." Uncle Aaron said as he had finally given up stopping and trying to get Scruffy to stay on. The snowmobiles that had taken this road earlier today had dug in a pretty good path to follow but if you got off the path you would sink into about 40 inches of soft snow. Not a situation we wanted to get in. We decided to let Scruffy run ahead of us so he could stay out of the soft snow that buried him several times. It took some time to pull him out of the soft snow and if we kept that up, we wouldn't make it to the parking lot before nightfall. "That looks like it ahead, I can see the River and that clearing appears to be the Parking lot." Said Stevey who at this point was the lead snowmobile. We parked our snowmobiles in the fairly well packed parking lot and secured and covered them with the tarps we had brought along. "Hopefully we don't lose them." Dad said as he and Daddy tied down the tarps. "We've removed the fan belts and buried them in the woods along with the starters. With the snow falling the way it is our little trail to the bury sight will be masked and keep them safe from thieves" Daddy added. We donned our packs and saddled up Scruffy. We put on our snowshoes, found the trail to our first shelter, and headed off with at least 3 more hours of daylight. Scruffy bounded in and out of snow drifts as he tried to run ahead of us. "Looks like he might be getting the message." Uncle Aaron said as he pointed out that Scruffy realized following our snowshoe trail was easier going. We all laughed as we continued on. It took us about 2 ½ hours to snowshoe the 3 ¼ miles to the Hurd Brook Shelter. The snowstorm had waned a bit thankfully and gave us the visibility we needed to keep on the trail. "I see it!" shouted Stevey as he pointed a couple hundred feet ahead at the shelter. It was a three-sided shelter with a wooden platform. It was covered in about 20 inches of snow, so our first task was to clear the deck. We pushed the snow towards the back of the platform so we could use it to bank our tents as grand dad had told us. "It will keep you warmer, just like an igloo." He said. While Dad, Daddy and Uncle Aaron cleared the deck and began setting up our tents, Stevey and I went foraging for firewood to make a fire for the evening. As darkness fell the snowfall stopped and we had a fire built, more for looks than for heat. The fire pit was close to the shelter but below the deck and we didn't want to burn down the shelter so didn't make it too large. The men had done a great job setting up and banking our tents, so we settled in to make our supper. We had eaten most of what grand mom had packed for us when we stopped at the dike parking lot, so we decided on the mulligan stew Uncle Aaron had prepared ahead of time. "We won't be eating this good when we hike the trail for real because we wouldn't have room for all the fresh food. We're lucky that Scruffy could carry our food in his saddlebag." Said Uncle Aaron as he lit the single burner Coleman stove. It only took about ¾ hours to cook the stew and we all had more than enough to eat including Scruffy who loved eating with us. We cleaned our dishes in the snow and filled the pot with fresh snow to melt down for water in the morning. "OK, boys it looks like it's time for bed." Said Daddy as we retired to the three tents that had been set up. It proved to be true what grand dad had taught us, the tents were much warmer with the snow banked up around them and it was pretty cozy once we had disrobed and climbed into the sleeping bags. There was no sex tonight as we were all exhausted from the day's journey. Stevey and I gave each other a kiss and cuddled up with me spooning Stevey's back. Dad and Daddy did the same and Uncle Aaron and Scruffy slept cuddled in much the same way with Scruffy laying down next to him just outside of the sleeping bag. Scruffy, being part husky was loving the cold and didn't mind being outside the sleeping bag. ............................... The next morning came early as we all seemed to be excited for our first days hike. Stevey and I dressed in the layers that grand dad had suggested. "Remember boys no matter how cold it is outside; you'll be sweating with the exertion, and you don't want to sweat too much, or you'll freeze when you stop." Grand dad had warned. Dad, Daddy, and Uncle Aaron emerged from their tents to a still dark morning. Uncle Aaron lit the stove and melted down the snow to make our coffee. Breakfast was going to be oatmeal and toast toasted over the single burner. While Uncle Aaron prepared breakfast the four of us broke camp. We shook off as much of the snow as we could from our tents and rolled them up and packed them away. "We'll have to give them another good shake when we unpack them but for now, they should be just fine." Said Daddy as we finished packing up our backpacks. We had breakfast, cleaned up the pots and packed away all the cooking supplies into Scruffy's saddlebag. We donned our snowshoes and began the 13-mile hike to the Hunt Trail Shelters and the Katahdin Stream Campground. "We couldn't have asked for a better day. It's absolutely gorgeous out here." Dad said to everyone's agreement. The hike back to the parking lot where we left the snowmobiles was a lot easier as not much snow had fallen to cover our tracks. Scruffy ran ahead of us and had fun bounding along first running ahead then returning to jump up and down on us. As we neared the parking lot, we noticed a lot of new snowmobile tracks on Golden Road. "Looks like the snowmobiles are out early today" said Daddy as we crossed the road. We checked out our snowmobiles and even though there were a lot of track's around them they didn't appear to be disturbed. They looked in the direction of where they buried the belts and starters, and the ground wasn't disturbed. "Well so far so good." Uncle Aaron said as we struck off on the trail crossing the West Branch Penobscot River. The trail circled us around and we soon crossed the Abol Stream to follow the opposite bank of the river. We found this trail to be well packed as snowmobilers had packed a good trail. "I think we got lucky boys, looks like we can take off the snowshoes as long as we stay on the snowmobile tracks." Dad said. We all strapped our snowshoes onto our backpacks and continued along the trail. We had hiked for about 4 hours when we left the north bank of the river and proceeded to follow the Nesowadehunk Stream. We all had fun trying to pronounce the name that Stevey tried to read off the map. "Those Indian names get my tongue all twisted up!" Uncle Aaron announced as he attempted and failed for the 4th time to pronounce the name of the stream. "That's it from now on that stream will be known as the Neso Stream!" announced Stevey laughing. We all agreed and Stevey led us on. "Look up ahead, that's Big Niagara Falls." said Stevey as we looked at the iced over falls ahead of us on the `Neso' stream. "And just ahead of that is the Little Niagara Falls." Stevey added pointing to it in the distance. The land here was not as densely forested as a swamp took up most of what we saw just north of the Little Niagara Falls. As we neared the Little Niagara Scruffy began to bark and jump up and down. Before we could stop him, he bolted ahead and out of site. "What in tarnation has him all riled up?" asked Uncle Aaron as we began to call Scruffy to come back. We quickened our pace to try and catch up. "Well, it can't be a bear because they're all hibernating and it's doubtful it's a mountain lion, they haven't been seen here in a long time." Said Daddy. We rounded the bend and saw ahead, in the iced over swamp, a large bull moose standing by the stream trying to get something from under the ice and snow. Scruffy was jumping up and down on the trail not more that 5o feet from the moose. "Oh, damn, that's one animal I forgot about. He's huge. He must be 7 feet tall at the shoulder, and that rack must be at least 5 or 6 feet across. And it looks like Scruffy is riling him up." exclaimed a very scared Uncle Aaron "I don't dare yell for him because that might just piss off the moose even more." We all tried silently to get Scruffy's attention with no result. The moose had almost had enough of Scruffy and started to snort his disapproval. When he saw us waving our arms at Scruffy, that was the final straw and with a large snort began to charge in our direction. "Jesus, we're toast." Stevey cried out as we all realized there was no way we could outrun a charging moose. "They say not to run and to stand our ground." Dad said as we all froze in our tracks. The moose was now on the trail and only about 100 yards away charging at full gallop and snorting with his rack down. "We're going to die right here." I cried as I hugged Stevey close. "I love you Stevey." Dad and Daddy raised their walking sticks and started yelling at the moose, Uncle Aaron was doing the same when out of the blue Scruffy came charging at the moose barking and growling and nipping at the moose's heels. His love for Uncle Aaron drove him to willingly sacrifice his life from the charging giant. A couple of times the moose connected with Scruffy's jaw and Scruffy yelped but didn't stop harassing the moose. We all saw how determined Scruffy was to protect us and we increased our yelling and waving of our hiking sticks. The moose turned to face Scruffy and lowered his rack and with a swift whirl of his head lifted Scruffy from the trail and tossed him about 50 feet into the woods on the right side of the trail. Uncle Aaron saw red, screamed, and charged at the moose swinging his hiking stick. Dad and Daddy followed behind screaming at the moose as Stevey and I quickly put on our snowshoes and dropped our packs and headed to where Scruffy had landed. The moose became overwhelmed by so many charging figures that he had finally had enough and bounded back into the marsh and out of sight. When we got to Scruffy, he was lying still but we could see he was still breathing. I leaned down and began stroking his body feeling for any broken bones. There was no blood but there could be internal bleeding we couldn't see. Stevey removed the saddlebag and Scruffy wined when Stevey reached under his belly to undo the straps. "There there boy you're going to be OK." I said stroking his head. Dad, Daddy, and Uncle Aaron had dropped their packs and were headed in our direction. "I don't see any outside injuries, but he cried when I undid the straps to his saddlebag." Stevey told our dads and Uncle Aaron. Uncle Aaron attempted to pick him up but Scruffy cried out loud at the attempt. Uncle Aaron was crying as he held a limp Scruffy and the tears were freezing to his face. "There are plenty of branches around here, let's make a stretcher and we can carry him to the camp." Said Dad. Stevey and I gathered branches and fur bows to pad it and fashioned a stretcher for Scruffy, all the while Uncle Aaron comforted him. We gently rolled Scruffy on to his stretcher. We carried him to the trail where we had left our backpacks. After dividing the contents of Scruffy's saddle bags we began the last leg of our journey to the Hunt Trail shelter and the Katahdin Stream Campground. As we passed the parking lot on the Daicy Pond Campground road we noticed that a lot of snowmobilers had been thru there recently. "I hope we can have our reserved campsite" Uncle Aaron said. "It would be a lot easier if we didn't have to clear off a shelter deck and we could have a fire much closer for heat." "Well, we only have a little more than 2 miles to go so we'll know soon enough." Dad said. The last 2 miles were thankfully uneventful with Scruffy only briefly whining with pain. It was difficult to keep Uncle Aaron from wanting to carry Scruffy all by himself but convinced him Scruffy would still love him if he allowed us to share the burden. The campground was full but when the camper that had taken our sight saw what we were carrying he didn't hesitate to move for us. "I'll use one of the shelters! I see you need this spot more than I do." said the camper. He had already lit a fire so that part of our job was already done. We put Scruffy down close to the fire and began setting up our tents. Stevey and I collected enough firewood to last the night while Uncle Aaron probed Scruffy one more time to see if there were any broken bones. "I don't think anything is broken; it appears there's only some bruising where the moose rack connected under his belly. Thankfully the snow softened his fall." "You probably saved our lives back there boy." said Uncle Aaron hugging Scruffy's head. Tears were freezing on his cheeks as he kissed Scruffy's neck. "There's no doubt in my mind that if he hadn't charged that moose when he did, we would have all been dead. I don't think anyone that has been charged by an adult bull moose, lived to tell about it. Even if Scruffy hadn't gotten ahead of us on the trail and began barking at the moose our actions when we rounded the corner of the trail, would have been close enough to rile up that bull. No, you're absolutely right Aaron. Scruffy saved our lives." said Daddy. After we made camp Uncle Aaron prepared supper. He had packed steaks to celebrate our climbing the mountain but decided that Scruffy deserved a hero's treat and changed the order of meals. Cooking the steaks over the open fire was a big treat and along with the baked potatoes which were also cooked in the coals of the fire, we had a meal fit for kings and a hero dog. Scruffy began to come around just as we were getting ready to head to bed so we decided to reevaluate our next day come morning after assessing how Scruffy was doing. "We have enough supplies so if we need to add another day to our trip we can." Said Daddy. "If we have to call off the rest of our trip, we will make that decision in the morning. We could hike back to the parking lot and get the snowmobiles for a return trip if necessary." Added Dad. We all hugged Scruffy and kissed him good night. He had recovered enough to give us all kisses and seemed to be smiling when Uncle Aaron eased him into his tent. We all turned in and slept thru to the morning. We were woken by snowmobiles being revved up. "Looks like we'll be staying here for at least another day. It's way too late to start out for the peak now." Said Dad as he looked at his watch. "It would be dark by the time we got back." I added. Uncle Aaron emerged from his tent with Scruffy limping behind. "He's better but I don't think he'll be able to climb the mountain any time soon." "Well, it's too late for us to take off for the peak today so we'll hang out here today. I thought maybe we could retrieve the snowmobiles and after we climb to the peak tomorrow we can leave from here to the SUV. That will recover the day we're losing." Said Daddy "That sounds like a great idea. I can stay here and watch the tents and keep an eye on Scruffy while you get the snowmobiles and tomorrow you won't have to take a full pack on the climb." Added Uncle Aaron. "That would sound good accept we need the practice climbing with the full packs." Stevey added. "I guess you're right about that." Uncle Aaron said nodding his head. "OK, I'll cook breakfast and make coffee while you guys get ready to hike back to get the snowmobiles." We had breakfast which included the left-over steak, some powdered eggs which Uncle Aaron doctored up to taste better and coffee which we were getting used to drinking black. "OK boys, you go ahead, and I'll clean up here." Uncle Aaron said as he began heating up some snow for dish water. We hiked the 10 miles back to the Parking lot with just the minimum in our packs so we could almost jog. When we were getting close to the marsh where we had the run in with the moose we slowed down and gingerly rounded the corner of the trail. The moose was nowhere in sight which caused us to all sigh in deep relief. We made it to the snowmobiles after only hiking for 4 hours. We patted each other on the backs at how much faster we were hiking. We retrieved the equipment to get the snowmobiles running and headed back to the campground. It took less than an hour going really slow to get back. Scruffy greeted us with kisses and appeared to have a lot more life in him. We relaxed around the campfire and recounted our journey up to this point. "I'm really looking forward to the climb tomorrow. Hopefully the wind won't be blowing to hard, and we can see a lot of the horizon." I said looking up at the sky. The peak of the mountain was layered in clouds, so it wasn't visible. We had an early supper of a rice dish with chicken that Uncle Aaron had prepared before we left and frozen. It was delicious. We ate our fill, cleaned up and went to bed early. The next morning came early and Uncle Aaron prepared oatmeal and coffee. He made toast over the burner, and we ate in silence watching the sun brake the horizon. By the time it was light enough to see, the sky looked amazing. The peak we were about to climb was in full view, not a cloud in the sky. We headed out from our camp with full packs. Uncle Aaron and Scruffy walked with us for about a mile until it started to get steep just passed where the trail veered off from the Katahdin Stream. Uncle Aaron held Scruffy until we were out of sight and headed back to the campsite. After another mile on the trail, it started to get steep where in several places we had to use the steel handles that had been placed in the rock to aid in the climb. By this time, we were above the tree line and the wind picked up, so we had to lean over and almost hug the side of the mountain. We stopped at a plateau to rest and sat down with our backs to the mountain as we surveyed the horizon. "My God that is so beautiful! You can see for miles. It all seems so small from here." Exclaimed Stevey We sat close to each other and held each other in a hug as we looked at the great vista that presented itself to us. The air was cooling off and some snow was blown into our faces by the wind which had picked up to around 40 miles an hour. "I guess we better get going, I see some clouds forming to our south and I don't want to get caught in a blizzard if one pops up." I shouted as the wind wanted to carry our voices away. We got up and started to climb some more. When we reached Thoreau Spring where the Baxter Peak Cutoff Trail crosses the Hunt Trail we were on, the clouds started to move in. "According to the map we've only got one more mile to go to the peak and the official northern end of the Appalachian Trail" Stevey yelled as he tried to hold the map from blowing away. "Ya but that's a mile of very steep climbing" I yelled back. Dad and Daddy decided that now would be a good time to connect with each other using the rope we had brought along as grand dad had suggested. "When you get above the tree line and the going gets steep, you'll want to connect each other with a rope about every 10 feet" he said. Dad, being the strongest took the lead followed by Stevey and I with Daddy bringing up the rear to keep an eye on everyone. "Stay as close to the side of the mountain as possible. Do not try to stand up or the wind will surely take you away." Dad yelled as we inched our way forward. Hand over hand we went until the monument at the peak could be seen. There were a couple of other climbers sitting under the monument of stones placed there by climbers of the past. We approached them and they waved for us to join them. "We're celebrating finishing the final leg of the trail." they yelled as they brought out the bottle of champagne they had brought for the occasion. We laughed and patted them on the back for finishing. "Why so late in the season?" shouted Daddy to one of the climbers. "We had to leave the trail in NH near Mt. Washington because we both got sick with the flu. We couldn't get back on the trail until late November and weather has dogged our journey since." "Well congratulations on completing your journey." yelled Dad. We each took a celebratory swig from the champagne and then placed our stones on the monument. Dad pulled out the polaroid he had brought for the occasion and asked the men if they would take our picture. We huddled under the monument to get out of most of the wind and the picture was taken. Dad did the same for them, so we all had a picture to remember our climb. By now the clouds had completely covered the mountain and it was decided that our new friends would join us on the descent down the mountain. We added them to our rope and began climbing down. We realized that what grand dad had said was true. "You'll find going back down the mountain to be more difficult than climbing. I would suggest the strongest bring up the rear. And climb down facing the mountain not the other way around." We did as suggested and even though the going was slow we managed to get to the plateau before the snow started. When we reached where the Katahdin Stream once again crossed the trail, we were in an all-out blizzard and visibility was only a few feet. Dad indicated to us by pulling on the ropes as he was in the rear to hold up. He worked his way down the rope collecting us along the way until we all made it to Daddy. He used hand signals for us to crouch down in a group huddle, so our backs were towards the snow, and we faced each other. "When I give the word, I want each of you one at a time to turn to face out from us and we will remove the rain gear from your packs. Once we have them all, we will use them to form a makeshift tent around us. If you two don't have raingear we can make do with what we have." Said Dad. "we both have raingear and when it's our turn we'll help get them." When Dad gave the word Stevey started and turned to face the elements while Dad removed his raincoat. He tapped Stevey on the back after closing up his pack and Stevey turned back to face us. His face was white with snow. We all helped brush the snow from his face. I leaned in and hugged him and gave him my face to warm his up. We all took our turn. We noticed like Stevey and me the two that joined our troop were also gay as we witnessed them kissing after removing the snow from each other's faces. We managed to join our raincoats using the buttons and formed our makeshift tent. Once it was formed and we managed to control the flapping, we were once more out of the elements and able to talk easier. "Hopefully we won't have to stay like this much longer, but I thought it was getting a bit dangerous to continue. There are still a lot of places where we could fall, and all be killed." Said Dad without having to yell. "I guess the secret's out that we're gay." said one of our new friends. "Well, I'm glad you let us know. If you hadn't noticed so are we." Daddy said laughing. We all joined in the laughter . "So, I'm Eric and this is my life partner Steve, and these boys are our sons, Stevey is Steve's son and Johnny is my adopted son. They too are life partners" We all gave our new friends a kiss. "I'm Justin and my life partner is Gary." said Justin as he gave Gary a big kiss. "We are so glad we ran into you guys. We thought we had a pretty good handle on what to do in just about every circumstance but this and the use of the rope are two things we hadn't thought of. We probably would have tumbled to our deaths if it hadn't been for you." said Gary. "We are glad you were at the top when we got there." I said. We talked for about an hour about their journey and our plans to hike the trail starting in May in Georgia. "You'll be glad you had this training because it can snow like hell in Georgia in May. We ran into a blizzard that was like this with near white out conditions. Several times we almost got off the trail." Said Justin. Soon we noticed our makeshift tent wasn't being buffeted by the wind and we stood up to see if we could see again. It was still snowing but the visibility had improved to about 100 yards. "I guess we can keep going now." I said as we undid our shelter and packed the raincoats away. "I don't know what you had planned but we'd love for you to join us at our camp at Katahdin Stream Campground." said Dad. "We hadn't given it a whole lot of thought. Our car is down in NH at the vista overlook in Conway. We figured on catching a bus out of Millinocket. "Well, that's that then you're joining us, and we can get you to your car in NH on our way back." Said Daddy. Stevey, Dad, and I smiled at each other and marveled at how Daddy would cross the ocean to bring a hamburger to a starving soul. "And that's why we love this man so much. There's nothing he wouldn't do to help someone." exclaimed Dad as we rejoined the trail and headed to our campsite. The next mile was an easy hike and we all joined hands as we entered the campground. Uncle Aaron seemed to be occupied along with Scruffy with a pair of twins that appeared to be around 11 or 12 years old. A young couple was nearby at the campsite next to ours. The twins were sitting in his lap as he was telling them a story with animated arm movements. Scruffy was wagging his tale and kissing the kids each time they reacted to Uncle Aaron's story. Uncle Aaron looked up and saw us coming because he noticed Scruffy was no longer with him. Scruffy came running to us and jumped up on us giving us kisses and almost knocking us down. "Hey boy, I guess you're better huh." exclaimed Stevey as he began to rub Scruffy's ears. Scruffy joined us in the few yards left to our campsite and proceeded to jump on all of us at least a dozen times. "I guess there's a full recovery." exclaimed Daddy as we stopped in front of Uncle Aaron and dropped our packs. "You'd be right. After you left us on the trail it took all I had to hold him back and if it hadn't been for the twins here showing up, he would have bolted to join you." Responded Uncle Aaron. "Boys meet the Craigs. That's Josh and Trisha over there and these are their twins Maddy and Martin." "Well, hello everyone and this is Justin and his life partner Gary. They'll be joining us for the rest of our trip." Said Daddy. "Come on over kids, supper is almost ready, and they need time away from you." Said Trisha as she gathered up her twins. "Wow Uncle Aaron, those kids are cute." I said smiling. "Yah they are, almost as cute as you two when you were their age." "Looks like you were enjoying their company." Stevey said as he looked at Uncle Aarons bulge. "Yes, I was." exclaimed Uncle Aaron as he began to tell us how he came to meet them. "Shortly after you left Scruffy, and I returned to our site and the Craigs showed up on their snowmobile and set up camp. Trisha came over and introduced herself, her husband, and kids. They're 11 by the way. Cute as hell. Anyway, I introduced her to Scruffy who was already jumping up on her and licking her face. She laughed and scratched behind his ears. Well, that cemented that friendship. As we were talking, I noticed she started to look at me with an inquisitive look. `Aren't you Aaron Smith the writer?' she said. `Well yes I am, how did you know that?' I asked and she told me they live in Ellsworth and her kids love to go to the library and saw my photograph on the notice about the story telling symposium coming up next month." "Wow, so they live in Ellsworth. What a small world." I said. "After Trisha introduced herself to me her kids came running over and jumped on me like they'd known me their whole lives." "She then began to explain `You'll have to excuse the kids they're a bit different from most kids, they can't seem to get enough of older men, and we've given up trying to hold them back. We've had the talk about safe sex and have shown them what's good and what's not. We've known for a couple years now that they enjoy sex and have accepted it. If you're not comfortable with them wanting to play with you, just say so and we'll keep them away from your site.' I told her my secret and she hugged me and told me I was welcome to have her kids as long as I didn't force anything on them, they didn't want. And that explains my hard on." "I guess you've found a new love interest. We're so happy for you Uncle Aaron. Since we got too old for you, we hoped that eventually you'd find some kids to love, and look, there they are living right down the road." I said. "Let's combine what we have and have a feast. Tomorrow we'll be able to eat in Millinocket so there's no reason to save anything." Exclaimed Uncle Aaron. ....at the kids campsite prior to us seeing them on Uncle Aaron's lap.... "Mommy he's just like grandpa, I know he liked us because he was hard when we sat on his lap." Exclaimed Maddy "Do you like him?" asked Josh. "Oh yes Daddy we do." exclaimed Martin excitedly. "Do you think he wants to share his bed with you?" asked Trisha to the kids. "I bet he does. Can we ask?" said Maddy. "Go ahead. I don't think he'll mind you asking." The kids ran over to Uncle Aaron and Scruffy and jumped up on him, hugging him close. "Mr. Aaron, would you share your bed with us tonight? Mommy and Daddy said it was OK." begged Maddy. Uncle Aaron looked over at Trisha and Josh with tears in his eyes. They nodded yes knowing what he was asking with the expression on his face. ....back to the present.... "Looks like you just got lucky." exclaimed Stevey to Uncle Aaron. "Yes, I did." exclaimed Uncle Aaron. ... later getting ready for supper.... "They really like you Aaron and we give our blessing to whatever they want to do." Said Trisha as they joined us for supper. "They are adorable, and I will not do anything that they don't ask for first . I promise that I will not ask for anything. It must come from them first. I would be a very happy man if they only wanted to cuddle." "Oh, I'm sure it will be a lot more than cuddling if I know my kids." Said Trisha "Well kids I'm going to my tent for some shut eye are you going to join me?" asked Uncle Aaron. Maddy and Martin both jumped up into Aarons arms and squealed with joy. "We're ready, hope you're all rested up because we want to have some fun." Maddy said as Uncle Aaron carried them into his tent. Scruffy followed close behind wagging his tail. He wasn't sure how this was going to work out with new occupants in his tent, but he figured it was probably gonna be fun. "Well, I'm going to tell you two right up front. I sleep in the nude so I'm going to get undressed unless you don't want me too." "Are you kidding Mr. Aaron we want to get naked with you." And with that said both Maddy and Martin stripped and climbed in to Uncle Aaron's sleeping bag before he even got undressed. "Well make sure you make room for me." He said. "And from now on I'm either Uncle Aaron or just Aaron. OK?" Maddy looked at Martin and they both looked at Uncle Aaron. "Aaron sounds really cool. So, get undressed all ready, it's getting cold in here." Before he would let them cover up he took a long gaze at them, he wanted to burn this image into his memory. Maddy was adorable with those little nipples, barely the size of a small strawberry but twice as sweet. Her body was slender but not skinny. Her belly was flat with an inny belly button. Her pussy wasn't fully developed but it was obvious she had known sex. Her pussy lips where puffy and her clit was visible under the small hood at the top of her opening. Her legs were amazing with thighs that could hold on to just about any man. Martin's body was slender but not `skin and bones' skinny. He had no hair on his dick or balls. His dick was about 3 ½" and uncut. He was tight in the abbs. Not quite a six pack but well defined. His legs were perfect, slender with nice hips and his feet were delicate and just so cute. Martin was blond with nipples about the size of a pea but stood out nice and hard. He had well defined abbs and his little cock was uncut with a small ball sack, just right for sucking. With that image burned forever in his mind he finished getting undressed and with an already hard cock, slid into the sleeping bag which the twins quickly closed up over them. Scruffy took his position at the foot of their sleeping bag and laid down to sleep. The twins took their time exploring Uncle Aarons body with their hands with each taking their time sucking on his nipples. While they explored his body, he explored theirs and soon was stroking Martin's cock. His fingers found Maddy's pussy and began tickling her clit with his thumb. Martin was the first to feel his tingles coming on and did his best to turn around so that Uncle Aaron could taste his dick as he had his little dry cum. He shook with pleasure as Aaron's tongue found its way onto his pulsing little dick. He sucked on Martin's little cock parting the foreskin with his tongue to get at his sensitive pee slit. Martin bucked his hips as he pushed his cock in and out of Uncle Aarons mouth. He shuddered as he came to his drygasm and continued to shake as Uncle Aaron continued to suck until he realized it must be getting too sensitive. Maddy wasn't far behind and did as Martin did and twisted her body around so that she could offer her pussy to Uncle Aaron's waiting mouth. Aaron extended his tongue to explore the inner workings of her preteen pussy. As he probed her little clit she shuddered with pleasure and moaned loudly as she reached for his dick. He continued to probe at her clit until she was shaking with her orgasm. The feelings overwhelmed her as she wrapped her legs around his head. In this position the twins found Uncle Aaron's cock and began to suck on it while playing with his ball sack. It wasn't long before Uncle Aaron felt his orgasm coming on and told the twins that he was about to cum. They both giggled and dove down and with their mouths over his cock like they were kissing, took his cum and began to swallow. "Ahh" he moaned as the twins eagerly gulped down what he had offered and after cleaning him up came back up and gave him a big kiss. "That was really cool Aaron. You taste real good." Maddy said as she licked her lips. "Mmmmm that was really sweet Aaron. I hope we can get a lot more of that." Added Martin. "Kids, you can enjoy that any time you want. But I think now we should all go to sleep." Uncle Aaron said as he wrapped his arms around them and drew them close. The twins reluctantly relented and closed their eyes and they all three slept soundly. The next morning they made plans to get together at the compound after we all returned. As the evening progressed us guys split into our pairings and enjoyed the rest of the evening with some adult gay sex. "Stevey, I didn't think it was possible to love you any more than I already did but when you turned back to the huddle after giving up your raincoat and with your face covered in snow I almost passed out with overwhelming feelings of love." "When you licked my face and touched my cheek with yours, the warmth I felt overtook me and I got instantly hard." Stevey confessed. "I love you with all my heart and nothing could tear my heart from yours." .................Steve and Eric's tent..................... "Steve, I need you to know that this trip has cemented my love for you. I always knew that I loved you, but I didn't realize how being faced with imminent death would strengthen that love as it has. When that bull charged us and the thought of never seeing you again...I knew then I would give my life for yours." Eric said to Steve as he held him tight and kissed him passionately. ..................the boys tent................. Stevey and I snuggled into our sleeping bag and decided that I would service Stevey tonight. I entered Stevey's pussy and proceeded to fuck him slowly hugging him close. I fell asleep fucking his pussy and never did climax. But that was OK, I was deep into my lover when I passed out. I couldn't think of a better way to fall asleep. When we awoke, I treated him to a fucking that would take a lifetime to forget. Eric and Steve had much the same night. Steve treated Eric to a once in a lifetime blow job that brought Eric to an orgasm he wouldn't soon forget. Justin and Gary retired to their tent and sounds of love making could be heard throughout the evening. Justin and Gary woke the next morning and when they emerged from their tent had grins that couldn't be wiped away. The trip back was uneventful and after we dropped off our snowmobiles at the compound, we brought our new friends to Conway and their car at the overlook vista. We spent a night in Conway at the Holiday Inn and the next day found our way back to Otis and our compound. "You must have had quite the adventure." Said grand mom as we unloaded our SUV. "We'll tell you all about it." responded Stevey as he and I hugged her. We all went to our rooms and took showers; we couldn't wait to get downstairs and tell our `grandparents' all about our journey. When we got downstairs grand dad had a fire going in the fireplace and grand mom had made us Danish rolls and coffee. Uncle Aaron was sitting on a lounger with Scruffy at his feet. We sat down on a lounger next to them and began to enjoy the treat grand mom had made for us. "You were right about everything grand dad, if you hadn't warned us about what it was like above the tree line on that mountain, we probably would have landed in a heap somewhere buried in snow." I said. "Ya that was a really good idea to tie ourselves together, it not only saved our skins but the couple that we helped getting down the mountain." Stevey added. "We came up with something new too." said Dad as he explained how we huddled together and made a shelter out of our rain gear. "I knew you boys would be safe. You listened and did well!" granddad said patting grand mom on the knee "See dear you had nothing to fret about." "It doesn't matter. I'll always worry when my boys are away and doing potentially dangerous things." Said grand mom. "So how did you do with the snowshoes?" granddad asked. "We did pretty good, we were all very glad you had us train with them before we went. It made it so much easier." Uncle Aaron said as he petted Scruffy sitting on the floor next to him. "So, tell me all about the run in with the Bull Moose. I've never seen one up close like that. Must have scared the BeJesus out of you." said granddad leaning forward ready to hear an exciting story. "I think Uncle Aaron would like to tell that story." said Stevey. Uncle Aaron proceeded to tell them all about our collision with that huge Moose and Scruffy's heroics. Scruffy sat up and looked intently at Uncle Aaron as he animatedly told the story. He barked as Uncle Aaron told of him being thrown by the moose and the stretcher ride to the campsite. Grand mom had tears in her eyes as she listened to the animated tail. "I guess Lasse has nothing on our Scruffy now does he." Grand mom said as she got up to go to the fridge. "I think I've got some bacon already cooked in here." At the sound of the word bacon, Scruffy bolted up from the floor and raced to meet grand mom as she came out of the fridge holding a piece of bacon. "Now you sit pretty for grand mom." Scruffy did as he was told and with his tongue hanging out, saliva running off its tip he raised his paw for her to shake. "That's a good boy." as she took his paw and gave him his treat. Scruffy licked her hand and gave a quick bark to say thank you. "Nothing's too good for my hero dog." she exclaimed as she got down on her knees and hugged him. Scruffy showered her face with kisses before bouncing back to Uncle Aaron. "Did you have a good treat boy?" Uncle Aaron asked Scruffy as Scruffy returned to his spot at Uncle Aaron's feet. Scruffy licked his feet and looked up at him panting. "That's my good boy." Stevey and I spent the next hour sharing our adventures. Grand mom got up a few times to top off our coffee which we enjoyed black now and to keep us filled with her Danish's. ................................................. Well that's the end of this chapter. Our training expedition was a success all things considered. Now it's time to wrap up a couple of loose ends before we begin our final journey, `The Trail'. The next chapter will be a fairly short one but needs to be told. It opens us to `Uncle Aaron's' secret love and helps us all to open up and share our deepest secrets. It's about our love for children. A very taboo subject to most but one that is so grossly misunderstood. We are labeled monsters by most but we most definitely aren't. Parents that mistreat their children by ignoring their needs and those soulless individuals that would exploit a child for their pleasure are the real monsters. Child sex trafficking and pornography are the tools of their trade. They are the monsters we are so readily grouped together with. Forcing a child to perform sex acts on an adult or with each other is wrong. Making love to a child with no other intention but to bring them pleasure is something we believe in. I know a child of 8 has the ability to decide to have sex with an adult because I did when I was that age. I can tell you the first man I had sex with was not a monster at all. I begged him and it took all my persuasive abilities to break him down to finally allow me to experience my love of a grown man. Well with that said here comes the next chapter. Bradhonny
