Author’s Note

This story is set in 1967, when homosexuality was still “the love that dare not speak its name,” two years before the riots at Stonewall in Greenwich Village. It’s set primarily in a small town in an unnamed state in the southeastern US, but it’s a small town unlike any other that ever existed in this nation. Which fact is tragic, because there’s actually nothing preventing such towns from existing … except for a specific, chosen, deliberate, and deeply American kind of stupidity.

I’m releasing the complete text of this novella here on Nifty. There are more stories in this series; we’ll get to that later, but for now, you can buy this novella as an ebook (with some illustrations, nothing illegal) here. It’s formatted to run on pretty much anything (Kindle, iBooks, Nook, etc.), and available from all kinds of sources.

Before we go on, Nifty has been providing a great service for years, supplying free content, and can always use a donation!
