I woke up in a very ugly mood and went for a run. It was actually nice out
and I added two miles. I grabbed the paper on the way in and Sally was
sitting in the kitchen reading a magazine. I said good morning grabbed a
cup of coffee and went to the game room and started to read the high school
sports and was excited to find that the basketball team was in the
championship game of the Christmas Tournament tonight. I thought damn,
something to do. Just then Sally came in and said Mike can I join you? I
said sure and continued reading the paper. She asked, Mike are we ok? I
said Sally dad knows where we are please talk with him, you really pissed
me off last night and it takes time. She said Mike, I really am sorry. I
said Sally I actually hate that work, please simply prove it.

I got up and made a fresh pot of coffee and went back to the paper and
Sally was back in the kitchen. Dad came in and said, so Mike it seems a bit
chilly in here should I turn the furnace up and I said whatever and
continued reading. I heard the coffee pot indicate the coffee was ready and
got another cup and continued reading. In the business section there was
speculation on the development on Second Avenue and damn they had most of

laughed. I'll remind him to call you. See you tonight. I called Jim and
asked if he wanted to go to the game and he said he would get back to me as

Then I called Rob and asked about the basketball team and he said things
were great and the new coach was tough, fair and that Coach Weston finally
quit watching every game. He asked about the ski trip and I told him Jim
and I missed him. He laughed and said this summer we are going away
again. I asked about Hannah and he said that they were good and he was sex

as dad have been on leave. I told him that I would be at the game tonight

Then I started to think about how great the new furniture would look and

want credits going into Tech as I want out of there in three years. With
that and my AP classes, I hope to have a semester in before I step on
campus in January next year. She said, what? I said please ask dad, I
already told him I can graduate early and might start college for the
spring semester. I'll firm that up on the trip. She said so Mike you are
giving up your second semester of your senior year? I shook my head yes and
kept eating using the chopsticks. Then she said, Mike is that because of
me? I said Sally, please talk with dad about all this he knows the
details. I finished eating, put my dishes in the dishwasher, grabbed an
iced tea and said guys, I'm going to the basketball game, with Carrie and
hopefully Jim and Ashley and went upstairs. As I was leaving I heard Sally

I called Jim and he said he would meet me at the game and that Ash would be

asked if he wanted to stop for food and he said he had to ride the bus
back. I said we would be a Eat n Park if he wanted to come. Separate cars

dad asked about my plans for tomorrow night andI said we moved the party to
Carrie's and that it would be Jim, Rob, Alex and Carrie with their
dates. Dad laughed and said Mike will you be driving? I said yes and I
don't need a lecture. He said Mike, I am aware. Sally said, I hope you are
not still upset about the change? I took a deep breath and said not at

nice response. Sally smiled and said why do you spend so much time in your
room? Sally, that is my office. It is where I do my school work, where I
work on business things and there will be very expensive furniture
delivered next week. My current furniture will be moved to the empty
bedroom in the apartment. That second bedroom needs new furniture. Dad
before you ask, while the furniture is very expensive the desk, file
cabinet and desk chair will be at some point be billed to Enterprises. The
bed, nightstand and two chairs in leather cost about $900.00 and you agreed
to pay for those. At some point, I'll buy that stuff from you and it will

head but she smiled and said damn, you do plan ahead. I smiled and asked is
there anything else? I would like to get to bed as I want to run and
workout tomorrow and will be up late. Dad said Mike, sleep well and I went
to my room.

I showered and was driving off and there was a knock on my door and I said
one minute please and the door opened and dad came in and sat on the
bed. He looked at me and said ok what's up? I said dad I was nice and told
the truth, just not the entire story. I left out the part that Carrie and I

what I expected. I said dad Carrie picked the bedroom furniture. Dad
