It's not first but it's important. I had my stupid computer repair place NOT save my data when they found two OS problems and never backed up all the data and files. Then they put it on a 1T external hard drive and between that and losing the data, anything they recovered was virtually unreliable. Some has but nothing written was saved. Some of the files were OK but many were not. So that is just one of the reasons I have not written. Another of the best reasons is that I am a grandfather finally. My oldest daughter (not mentioned in the books yet) had a baby boy. BUT that will always follow him the rest of his life. On the way to the party at their ( My daughter aand son-in-law's) house, my mother (Eva of the title) and her partner both 93 at the time got t-boned on a side street that had no stop sign in the direction mom was travelling. So a drunk driver slammed into them and of course he got away while my mom and one of my closest friends her partner (Carly in the books) both just bled out as they hung upside down and just bleeding from many cut and slashes. By the time the police, the paramedics got there, they were dead. The police came to my daughter's home and they knew us because one of them is in our swinger's club (Our first of several Policemen in the club)and his partner was friendly to us and helped at many of our meetings and parties by helping the gang park properly. So we had a lot to do with the baby and the funerals. It was like a queen or princess had died. Thousands of people came to see her at the funeral. We had to hire a small security force plus the policemen that are usually there to set up where all the cars would go. The funeral assistants also helped by asked if they were going to the grave site. We had thought about just the family but 99% of the people there were either in our group or knew of it. Almost all of downtown closed early to attend and supply a lot of food. So we did something rather cool. We cremated both of them and put them together in an ash container. We bought a compartment in the building that holds them and then let everybody walk by and stop and pray or cry or just touch the door. We came home and a lot of people came for the party afterwards. But not a down funeral party but one of our greatest swinger parties in the history of the club. The merchants kept bringing food and some of them are mebers but many of them got pacified by our club members, maybe even trying to get some mlore of them to join up. Mom probably would have given out membership blanks to fill out. But we just made a pile and left them upstairs in the rooms, by the front door and outside. It was a beautiful night for an outdoor agenda. A big section of my alma mater showed up as well as my old college coach, his wife, my high school coach and almost 100% of my old baseball and flag football girls and almost ever waitress, waiter or cook from all of out restaurants made it to the funeral. Many didn't stay because they're a little squimish about the club. My wife's family showed in record numbers. My best and dearest friend Robert took time out his busy law practice downtown to come as well as (Fin in the book) and her girls from the physical fitness and practical therapy, as they called it. So with all of or family (I can't keep count of how many there are.) I'm 65 now and my mind is a little forgetful. My wife missed mom and "Carly" as her grandmother who I had for the first time alone on the front porch of her home. My then fiance was not happy about it. But she had lost her a few years ago so losing mom was a deep thing for her. But we have all of our children and she has her mom and a dad still. Her father "Russ" is the farmer and he could not come as he was needed on his farm. But I knew he was crying doing his work. Well that are just several of the major things in my life. I will have to go back and reread the last few chapters that were saveble to catch up. I know I'm in the middle of my shoulder injury and my PT at "Fin's'. Like I said I am getting forgetful. But my wife "Moema" (in the book) has me doing more club work as she was was respondible for the membership and eventually was elected President and one of my sons was elected a VP and 2 members of the club was voted a 2nd VP and Secretary. My younest daughter became the treasurer by default because she has a job now at our bank. So she saw the money come in by mom or Carly and she knew all about the finances in the club. I better leave things as they are. It has been 2 years since the accident I think and I get too chatty. My children especially my daughters always tell me to SHUSH all the time. I will get back to writing hopefully very soon. Over Easter, I may run a few words back on paper after I read those chapters. Thanks for being patient with me.
