Chase McPhee % Last night, all the troops returning to Jean-Claude's fortress, there was a slight commotion about who was going to sleep where. Kevin didn't mind at all manning a sleeping bag and sacking out on the entertainment room floor. Emre's little brother, eighteen year old Tariq, was asleep when they entered and Kevin wasn't too tired not to `watch' something, so popped a gay dvd into the player, the two then imitating what was on the big screen. When Emre asked Kevin `what would happen if Tariq awoke?', Kevin passed it off as, `Then he'd get an education,' regarding some of the leads having their fun, from the series, `Queer As Folk'. Vacating their upstairs bed, it was a toss up, whether Sebastian or Cody took to the bed. It wound up where they sacked together, Cody not minding the arrangements, even though Sebastian assured him he would not do `anything' in the middle of the night, Seb saying he wasn't `that type of guy'. Seb even broke the mold and wore briefs to bed! So, on this particular morning, Jean-Claude happened to be the one wide awake and alert enough to remember everything which went into the omelette recipe, without looking at the book. "I didn't hear you get up?" Brendan asks, cupping his chin over Jean-Claude's shoulder, turning his head to give him a peck on the cheek, then surrendering his nostrils to food sizzling on the stove, "Smells good." "Me or the eggs?" Brendan answers, "Let's just leave it at, you smell halfway decent, unlike on the nights we do some serious rolling in the sheets?" Putting the wooden tool down on the center of the stove, Jean-Claude switches the gas knob to lessen the simmering. As he twirls around, he's apologizing, "I'm sorry I wasn't much in the mood last night, Bren." Seriously, Brendan replies, "I know. It was a tough day for all of us." But Jean-Claude felt guilty about not doing more than some kissing, "Maybe today will work out better and then I can make it up to you." It immediately heightened Brendan's spirits, him saying, "I'm game for that!" And if things worked that way, he would be doing everything in his power to lift the burden of yesterday's events from his lover's mind. "Whatcha burning?" Kevin's voice carries through the kitchen, right before the sound of teeth crunching through the skin of an apple, helping to break off their tender moment. "Liver," Jean-Claude replies. He knew it would affect Kevin's taste buds and Kevin didn't disappoint him, "Hooo-wah!" He doubled over, coughing up some apple, pretending it was one of the most hated foods in human history. "I think I'm gonna be sick!" "What's the matter? You okay?" Jean-Claude and Brendan break out in laughter, watching Emre all serious-like, tending to Kevin. But Emre was the one to change subjects, asking Kevin, "You tell them about last night?" "Yeah, what about last night?" Brendan gets nosy. Jean-Claude too butts into their business, "Yeah, what were you two up to which made you walk in at two in the morning?" "Oh, you just reminded me," Kevin says. "What?" Jean-Claude asks, flipping the eggs over after adding some cheese and asparagus. But it's Emre who says, "Kevin, he forgets he has a hangover!" "Coffee!" Kevin then fakes a response of needing a sobering up. Seemingly Kevin evaded the truth, Emre picking up the pace, "Kevin and me, we go to dinner with Josh Dunziger." "Uh," Brendan takes this one, "are we supposed to know this Dunziger?" Kevin adds in, "Not right now, but he's supposedly going to be one of J-C's biggest clients." Devilishly, Brendan asks, "Oh really? How big is he?" "Ah-h-h-h-h-ha-ha-ha!" Kevin roars with laughter. And then high-fiving Brendan, commends him, "Good one Bren!" The atmosphere changes some when Emre lets on, "Really he is pretty big." "Oh?" Brendan stifles himself. "And how would you know a fact like this?" Kevin dives in, "You should see it. We had to wear tux and ties...." "I bet you looked might fine," Jean-Claude butt in. "Shut up," Kevin said, nicely. "Yeah, let the kid tell his story," Brendan ganged up on his lover. "Well!" Jean-Claude said pompously as Kevin rips off, "Went to this high class joint, Marooned?" "Marooned?" Jean-Claude exclaimed, turning the gas off and setting the frying pan in the center of the stove. "Didn't you feel out of place Kevin?" Brendan cracked up in uncontrollable laughter when Kevin answers, "Yeah, fuck you too J-C!" Of course Kevin left his signature, middle finger sticking up like an excited cock in bed. "I didn't mean it that way," Jean-Claude tried covering himself. Taking Jean-Claude's side, Emre responds, "We know." Seeming like Emre was okay with it, Kevin rationalized Jean-Claude wasn't saying he was some twerp from the outskirts of town who didn't know his fork from his spoon. Skipping over the remarks, Emre takes his turn, "We eat food I never have before and then we go to a room and take our clothes off and use spa." "Mm-m-m," Brendan remarks, "We'll have to put this place on our list of places to go. On the `top' of the list for that matter!" "Um, it's not like I haven't been to Marooned, Bren?" Jean-Claude entertains food for thought. "Oh? And what cute little boytoy dragged you there?" Listening intently, Kevin and Emre's inquiring minds wish to hear too. "It was business. Marooned is like that. A sort of add-in place where busy execs break after business is taken care of, especially after details of a business deal have been completed." "And what `business' were it for you to be there?" Brendan questions, acting like he was jealous or perhaps wanting to get at the risque detailing. "The Eckert Greens shopping mall out in Kentucky. The developers were quite pleased with the results and after we finished with the attorneys and all that other `bs', all of us were in need of some relaxation." "And?" Kevin provoked. Jean-Claude gave a quick stare to Emre, then with Kevin and Brendan drooling for details, Jean-Claude began telling the story, making it highly sensationalized as if he was telling the backdrop for a porn novel, "Well! Let's see, there was Marco, he was one of the straight dudes, his boss, Kyle, whom we weren't sure of until he dove underneath the water in the spa and then Marco began making all kinds of animal sounds and we could tell he was arching his back." Kevin divulges some similarities to last night, "Just like Antonio and Josh!" "Oh?" Brendan asks, not realizing his hand massaging, not necessarily his cock, but very close to it. "Yeah, dives right under the water and we could see, right Emre?" Kevin draws him into the conversation. "It is true." "You could just tell Josh was parting his legs and Antonio going for it. Man, I could have sworn Antonio had some kind of device for breathing underwater." Inquisitively, Brendan asks, "I bet he got a mouthful, huh?" "Brendan?" "Yeah Jean-Claude?" "Um, your briefs?" he pointed, "they're getting little spots?" "Oh," Brendan quickly removed his hand from gently poking the base of his cock, "that? Must be from my morning tinkle." He really wanted to hear more, either from Jean-Claude or out of Kevin's mouth, but another overnighter appeared in the kitchen. "Hungry Cody?" Brendan turned off the horny side of his brain. "I'm not hungry," Cody said as he set himself down at the kitchen table. He was the only one who covered at least eighty percent of his bod, the robe short, hiking up to almost his hidden jewels, the table hiding anyone's eyes from trying to find them. "J-C's got some burnt eggs?" "They aren't `burnt' Kevin!" Jean-Claude said sternly. Kevin quickly turned the page, "Uh yeah... okay... well ya got some coffee?" "You know where the cups are kept, Kevin," Jean-Claude replies. Brendan met Kevin at the cabinet, him reaching up as Kevin did, clenching Kevin's hand and smiling, saying, "I've got it." And then as a slur, "Why don't you get the cream?" Brendan ate his words as Kevin slips his hand in between the elastic of his briefs. "Get outta there you pervert!" Brendan said, backing away and slapping Kevin's `bad' hand. "Boys?" Jean-Claude lays down the law, "can we be a little civilized here this morning?" He also nods to Cody, sitting there with his head bowed, leaning his elbows on the table, his head resting in the cradle of his palms. Immediately taking the hint, Brendan allows Kevin to haul out the mugs, freeing him up to sit next to Cody, slapping his hand on his back, traveling up to his shoulder and rubbing it, saying, "How about you and I take a trip to Sandy Hook this morning?" "I didn't sleep well. I think I'm going back to bed." All, but Cody, look to the kitchen doorway, when it is said, "I hope I wasn't the reason you didn't sleep? I know I have the tendency to snore?" "No," Cody replies, "you were fine, Sebastien." "I was careful not to do anything you didn't want to happen," Sebastien said. Cody confirmed, "you were fine, Sebastien." "Cool," Sebastien said and dropped the subject. He too went seeking food from the stove. "Looks good J-C". "It doesn't look burnt to you?" Jean-Claude comments, looking to Kevin for reaction. "Nah. Believe it or not, I like my bacon well done." "Bacon?" Jean-Claude questions him. "Yeah, um, doesn't everybody have bacon with their eggs?" Smirking, Jean-Claude states, "I haven't added the bacon yet, Sebastien!" "Oops!" Sebastien says. "Um, you got any coffee?" he felt safe in asking. In the mean time, Emre went to check on Tariq, since he seemed, for an early riser, was sleeping too soundly. Come to find out, after Kevin and his brother had their sleeping bag fun and were sound asleep, Tariq took it upon himself to have his own private `Queer As Folk' marathon! He came back to the kitchen by himself, and asks, "It okay for Tariq to sleep some more?" Jean-Claude snaps his finger, "Oh that's right!" "What?" Brendan asks." "I was supposed to take Emre and Kevin, and Tariq too now, I suppose, over to Brookdell Community College to register this morning." "But we can't afford," Emre started in. Quickly quenching the flame, Jean-Claude says, "We've been through this already Emre?" "I know, but...." Brendan puts his finger to his lips, signifying to `hush' and saying, "Don't waste your breath Emre when you know Jean-Claude is only going to wind up winning the debate!" Emre took Brendan's advice. "But don't forget also," Brendan added to Jean-Claude's morning agenda, "Mike wants you, Cody and me down at the precinct this morning?" And to top it off, Kevin adds, "Oh, I forgot to tell you, Josh said he was dropping by your office this morning." "Oh really?" Jean-Claude asks Kevin. "Yeah, but he didn't say what time." "Oh. Well, do you happen to have Josh's phone number, Kevin?" "Sure. I put it right into my cell when he told me." "Good. You get on your cell phone and tell your spa-blow-jobber to call the office and make an appointment, will you?" He doesn't know whether anyone else noticed, surely Kevin had to, Brendan detecting Jean-Claude a bit annoyed at Josh Dunziger for `just dropping in'. It wasn't exactly how a professional business was conducted, in Jean-Claude's opinion. "Sure. I can do that, J-C," Kevin replies. "Like when would you want him to drop by then?" "No," Jean-Claude restates his intention, "'You' instruct Mr. Dunziger to call me and I'll inform him when I can meet at `my' convenience!" And without much of a breather, "Now I think I should get ready for my busy morning." After leaving the kitchen, the troops, except Cody, not even fed, Kevin remarks, "What's got his balls all twisted up?" Brendan made a reaction like `he don't know' and pursued a course of leaving the kitchen, with words, "Everybody help themselves," and to Kevin, in a whisper, "Um, help Cody out?" "Sure," Kevin says, picking himself up, going over and sitting almost next to Cody, placing his hand atop Cody's shoulder and saying, "Hey Code, how about we all get together and head out to the nude beach at Sandy Hook and eye up some of the hot babes?" Cody turns to Kevin and nastily says, "Are you out of your fuckin' mind?" "What?" Kevin says to Sebastien and Emre, "What'd I say?" "Plenty," Sebastien said, Emre agreeing, "Too much!" the two standing there like grumpy parents, presiding over their `naughty child'. "Well," Kevin gets up and leans on a lighter note, "we can always skip the babes and get a nice tan?" But Kevin wound up getting hell from Emre, when Emre questioned him about eyeing up a bunch of other guys and threw in remarks about fidelity and what-not. They proceeded to take their conversation elsewhere. "Not hungry, huh?" Sebastien kindly asks Cody as he takes up the seat both Brendan and Kevin had warmed. "I feel so messed up." The twenty-one year old, although seeking a position with Lomberiou Designs and majoring in business at an out of state college, had spent many of his college days studying psychology, plus growing up, he had a natural ability for sensing people's needs. Even though it came as a surprise, being kicked out of his family life after outting himself, he knew it could be a prospect in revealing his true sexual identity. What came as a shock is his family not giving him the support he needed in this time of his beginning college years. Now, twenty-one, he had come to grips with the damage done and moved on. Perhaps it was his fate to help others achieving stability when calamity hits. "Yeah, I know what you mean." And before Cody could give his speech of `how could you', Sebastien details, "Maybe I didn't go through exactly what you did, not having someone whom I loved so dearly taken from me, but it `was' quite a challenging experience, going through having my own parents, whom I learned to trust and love, turn on me and kick me out like I was a piece of garbage." He hadn't heard the story and suddenly forgot his line and turned to Sebastien, "I'm sorry to hear that." "Yeah," Sebastien replies. Then theoretically speaking, "But you know? It hurts for awhile, then you sort of put it to the back of your mind. It'll never go away. Sometimes I think of how life could have been if my parents just accepted all of this, if they didn't get so hyper and sound off to me in such a negative way, if they took the time to `try' to understand... but it was like talking to two deaf people. Fortunately I could see more drastic measures coming, so I drew up some plans." "Plans? How would that go?" Cody asks, showing some real interest in Sebastien's predicament. He giggles, "Then I was quite serious... oh, this happened about a year and a half ago, I was like a secret agent, planning every move on paper first, then executing my steps. I was quite organized and by the time I felt the backlash from the `rents, I was mostly ready to move on." Cody refined it, "You were kicked out?" "Precisely, but before they could get wind of anything, I had withdrawn my savings, which wasn't much, but got me most of the way across the country before I went broke. I stashed pretty much most of my clothing and other stuff in my car. And when the hatchet fell, I was out of there, probably with more than most runaways," Sebastien gets adamant, "when they get kicked out for being gay!" And then apologizing to Sebastien, but meaning for everyone who surrounded him this morning, "I'm so sorry for behaving like I did this morning." "Hey, it comes with the territory. Like I said, you loved somebody and poof! They're gone." Sebastien kicks back in his chair, slopes his bod and looks to the ceiling as if into a crystal ball, "It's why when I find the right man I'm gonna treat him like a god. I'm going to shed so much love and affection on him, he'll never want to lay eyes on another man." And then coming back to earth, "Sorry for going on like that. Hey, how about we help J-C get rid of bacon and eggs?" "But he said there isn't any bacon in it," Cody countered. "Yeah. I know, but do you want to try them anyway? Tell ya, being on the road for awhile, with the loot running out? You learn to eat stuff you never thought you could stomach." Cody was sure there was a story attached to this and for the most part was forgetting some of his own problems, enthralled in those of Sebastien's. % "Oh I see. So that's why you got all..." Brendan almost said what Kevin said, "all upset about?" "Yeah," Jean-Claude responds, bracing himself on the bureau and looking up, seeing himself and Brendan in the mirror. "I'm telling you Bren, you have to watch out for this Dunziger guy. Like the night at Marooned, if you're not on to him, he'll control you and once he is, it's very tough to break the hold he has on you." "Hmm," Brendan says, trying to fathom the whole story, of Jean-Claude being almost the only one that day at Marooned, not falling under the dominating spell of Josh Dunziger. He then voices opinion, "I suppose this is why you didn't let on to Kevin, knowing Dunziger?" "Kevin better watch it," Jean-Claude gave warning, "a teen's will can be so taken over by gifts of money, clothes... whatever it takes to win a guy over to.... to.... `slavery', that is what it will become if Kevin is not careful." It was a serious moment, one Brendan was engrossing his thinking in. Being a cop he's seen people get duped, used, their lives twisted around by control freaks. Right then and there, even though he and Kevin joked a lot, he put it in his mind to make a vow to never let Kevin fall prey to such a man or ideal. "He won't," Brendan assured Jean-Claude. "What?" Brendan took his attention away from staring at himself and his lover in the mirror. He turned away, taking both hands, rubbing them over his face as if washing something away. He paced across the room. "What's the matter? I feel like I hit a sensitive nerve, Bren?" "I should learn to forget it, but whenever something as this surfaces, so does the incident I had more than a few years back." Doubling back across the room, Brendan stands at the mirror, but this time his partner faced him. "If you haven't told anyone, you can tell me?" Jean-Claude says, wearing a slight smile. "I've told a few people, but I would like you to know." Bringing Brendan over to the bed, the two sat at the foot of the comforter. Slapping his hands on his knees, Brendan says, "I'm not sure where to begin." "I think the beginning would be a good start?" "I suppose it would logical." And for roughly twenty minutes, Jean-Claude sat there, ocassionally grabbing a tissue, for Brendan, as he told the heart-wrenching story of two college students, eighteen and nineteen, falling prey to the world of drugs. When one of them, the nineteen year old wanted out, he was brutally tortured. The fortunate thing, Brendan became his hero. by coincidence he and his fellow officers were under surveillance, checking out an antiques smuggling ring. It brought them to the warehouse where Brendan was the first to lay eyes on Jared Gerard, his nude bod hanging from a meat hook, welts covering his back and chest, his stomach badly bruised and some kind of gadget around his balls, weighing them down. Later on, he would discover the perpetrators, the drug-runner and his henchman, returning to do Jared in. "And when Jared had pretty much recovered from his injuries, the investigation had been ongoing, Jared filling in the blanks, including his `friend', who apparently had been the bait to lure Jared to the warehouse..." "Asshole!" Jean-Claude branded the `friend'. "Yeah, well they got him too and as I recall almost all those, right on down the line, the trail leading to dealers in New York and some towns in Texas, which escapes my memory." "It's not important," and Jean-Claude, hugging Brendan, says, "the important thing is you did the right thing. So, where is Jared now?" Brendan shrugs his shoulders, "I dunno. He went into the witness protection program and disappeared without a trace." "Oh, I'm so sorry." "Me too," Brendan replies. And then, "The point I'm trying to make is, I can't allow anybody to fall prey to what Jared risked his life doing and believe me," he said with indignation, "I'm not going to let Kevin fall in the hands of a man like Dunziger and that goes for Emre too." "Well," Jean-Claude says after taking deep breath, "with a man like you behind I think it would be highly impossible for it to happen to Kevin.... or Emre." Brendan agreed, but sometimes actions do speak so much more louder than words. And like himself, Jean-Claude hadn't `been there', hadn't `done that', hadn't been scared out of his freakin' mind, seeing a nineteen year old in the position and condition Jared was in as he entered the warehouse that night. % Copyright 2009 T.
