RON AND MATT

Chapter Twenty-Seven

Saturday Morning, Las Vegas, Ron and Matt’s estate

Ron, Matt and Tyler sat in the breakfast room finishing the buffet breakfast that Mary had prepared.

“That was certainly good,” Tyler commented, loud enough for Mary to hear.

“Yes I agree,” Matt acknowledged as he placed his napkin on the table. “Mary is a fine cook and can be a gourmet chef, when it strikes her fancy or the need arises.”

“For me, I think that often the best foods are the simple things, the way they came off of the cow,” Ron joked.

“You goofball,” Matt retorted. “What’s planned for the weekend? This past week was one I’d prefer to put far behind me.”

“Well for one thing, we need to go over the commitment ceremony stuff again. I somehow think something will be missed.”

“Isn’t that why we hired that Florida wedding planner?” Matt asked. “The last time I spoke with him, it seemed everything was in order.”

“Yes, I should relax,” Ron admitted. “I guess I’m a worry wart. For some reason I just feel there’s a fly in the ointment. I want everything to come off without a hitch.”

“Heck, everything in our bedroom always comes off that way,” Matt kidded.

“Is this the morning for colorful metaphors? ” Tyler asked entering the fray. “Besides, no fair making them lewd goo-goo eyes and stuff when I don’t have my partner here. I’d just have to go over to my place and abuse myself.”

“Weeelll, you should have plenty of practice with that by now.” Ron said poking fun at his brother. “Speaking of that, when is Dan coming in?” he asked with a grin.

“He’ll be here around noon,” Tyler answered. “His last day at the New York office of Construction Leasing was yesterday. He’s been packing all week and is shipping those things he can’t part with. He sold his car last week. He hardly used it, but it was 15 years old, so it’s time for a new one.”

“What are your plans for the coming week, Tyler?” Matt asked.

“I put off going to Atlanta until after the ceremony and cruise. There’s a big charity festival in early May where I’ll have a good chance to meet and get to know Peter Zeckendorf. It lasts for three days, so I’m sure that there will be ample opportunity for a private meeting. I’m not sure if I’ll stay or go back another time. I’ll just have to play it by ear. Dan and I are going to Scottsdale at last, to meet with the boys from Taliesin West. It’s time we got going on the plans for our new house. Would you guys be interested in going with us? I promise that this time there’ll be no bomb on the plane.”

“I’d like to Tyler, but since Barry’s death, I’ve become the defacto activities director until we hire someone else,” Matt said, “I can’t really leave especially since we’ll be gone for over a week soon.”

“I’ll stay with Matt,” Ron said. “I have a lot to do at the office, and I can’t really afford to take the time, with the cruise coming up and all. Are you guys gonna be here for dinner tonight?”

“We don’t have any plans otherwise,” Tyler reported.

“Good. Then I’ll ask Mary to make a special dinner in his honor. It will be fun just to have the four of us together, without any other distractions.”

“Sounds good to me,” Tyler agreed.

The house phone rang and a moment later, Parker walked into the breakfast room. “It’s Jan Bounett for you Ron,” Parker reported, handing the handset to him.

“Hi Jan, I sure didn’t expect a call from you on Saturday. What’s up?”

He listened as she began to speak.

“We’ve got a problem,” she reported. “The charter planes we’d planned for the Las Vegas and New York contingents of wedding guests have been cancelled. It would take several executive jets to replace the airliners we had lined up. I’m working on it, but my first couple of attempts have come up short. I thought I’d let you know.”

“Call Margaret at home. I think she has Ethan West’s phone number. He’s the owner of Compass Cruise Line and a good friend. In fact, he’s invited to the ceremony, but I’m not sure he’s RSVP’d yet. If you can get the number, call me back. I haven’t talked to him in far too long.”

“I thought you had the cruise all lined up with the PT I and II?” Jan questioned.

“It just so happens that he also owns a charter airline with some sizeable planes. They are used mostly to support his cruise line, but there’s a good chance that one or more might be available.”

“Leave it to you to come up with a solution,” Jan said, sounding relieved.

“That’s why I make the big bucks,” Ron kidded.

“The real reason you make the major dough, Daddy Warbucks, is that you own the joint,” Jan parried back.

“Yeah, well that too,” Ron admitted as he laughed. “Let’s give it a try. Ethan would go far out of his way to help if I know him. Thanks for calling. Bye.”

“Bye,” Jan said and began to dial the number of Margaret, Ron’s secretary, at home.

By the time Ron had relayed the phone call news from Jan to Matt and Tyler, the “walk-around” phone, which Ron still held, rang.

“Got it Parker!” Ron yelled before pushing the “on” button.

Ron picked up a nearby note pad and pulled a pen from his pocket.

“Ron Turner,” he answered. “Hi Margaret. …. Ok. I’m ready.” He began to write. After he jotted down the phone numbers she gave, he said, “Thanks Margaret. We’ll hope for the best. Bye.” He pushed “off” then “on” and began to punching in numbers.”

After a moment’s pause, he began speaking, “Hi Ethan. This is Ron Turner in Las Vegas. ……Yes, I’m fine. How are Rick, Adam and Sarah? Is she still bossing you around?”

Ron laughed after listening to Ethan’s humorous report.

“Did you receive the invitation to Matt’s and my commitment ceremony in Key West? …. You did what?…She did what?……..Amazing!…… But……..You are some kind of devil, my friend. I can’t wait to be aboard. This is unbelievable. ….. All of them? ….. Uh, I guess that brings me to the reason I called. I had rented a 757 to carry our Las Vegas guests to Miami and a 727 for our friends from New York. The charter carrier just informed Jan Bounett, who had made the arrangements, that the charter had been cancelled. She’s been having a devil of a time finding other planes. I was wondering if I could charter one or two of your big jets for our guests?” Ron listened, then replied. “They are witches! I’m gonna spank them all when I see them over the weekend! I give up! I think that these women are taking over our lives!”

Ron laughed again after hearing Ethan’s lengthy response, then continued, “I’m sure glad you can be there, if only for a short time. I can’t wait for Matt and you to meet and for you guys to meet my brother Tyler and his mate, Dan. This will be a real celebration. Thanks so much, I’m really and truly overwhelmed.”

A final minute passed, as Ron listened with a big grin plastered across his face, then he ended the phone call with, “Thanks again, Ethan. I really look forward to seeing you and Rick. Bye.”

He punched “off” on the phone’s handset and placed it back on the table.

“I don’t believe it,” he muttered as he shook his head in wonder.

“Tell us Ron, I don’t know if I can stand the suspense,” Matt demanded, his curiosity at its peak.

“I hardly know where to begin,” Ron said shaking his head. “Let’s see. I guess I haven’t told you much about Ethan West. How we met and became friends is a story in itself. I could spend the next half hour with tales you would hardly believe, but I’ll save that for another time. Anyway, Ethan and I go back quite a ways, but as often happens, time and distance have separated us. Ethan personally owns a company called ENW Enterprises, which then owns the Compass Cruise Line and a charter airline.”

“I’ve heard of them,” Tyler interjected, “they’re huge in the cruise line business.”

“Yes they are,” Ron confirmed. “Well, Ethan is a lot like me. He owns a lot of stuff but he personally doesn’t run the day-to-day operations of most of it. For that he has a gal named Sarah, one of the most competent businesswomen I’ve ever met. She runs Compass and takes care of Ethan like a mother hen, bossing him around and challenging him at every turn. They make a winning combination and love each other to death, though Ethan is as gay as we all are. In fact, he has a partner, Rick, who’s crazy about Sarah too.”

“Anyway, the ceremony invitations got sent to the Compass headquarters through Sarah, because Ethan could be anywhere, at any time. If you want to find Ethan, call Sarah. That’s why I wrote down several numbers. A couple are Ethan’s and the last were Sarah’s office and home numbers. To return to the subject: Sarah received the invitations, and recognizing the address opened hers, as well as Ethan and Rick’s. The next thing you know, she had contacted Margaret and Jan, and between them they nabbed our wedding planner and changed all the arrangements. Nothing is exactly the same as we planned, except for when we’re still getting hitched and the time.”

“What’s changed?” Matt asked, looking a bit unhappy with the interference with what they had planned.

“Well first, instead of everyone landing in Miami and having to be shuttled to Key West, then after the ceremony and festivities going back to Miami for a couple of days vacation, everyone will be picked up at the airport in Ft. Lauderdale, then taken to the port and put aboard Sojourn, the finest ship in the Compass fleet. They will then sail to Nassau, where the ceremony will take place aboard ship, with shore excursions for the guests after the festivities are over.”

“It sounds nice,” Matt said grudgingly, “but I’m not sure it’s going to be the same with all the tourists aboard. Our party will be lost with all those people.”

“I didn’t mention, Matt, the Sojourn is ours for our guests alone for four days! We will be the only party aboard! Instead of the guests staying in hotels in Miami as we had planned, they will stay aboard Sojourn as VIP Compass guests. The cruise ship be in the Bahamas, for two days instead of the 5 days our yacht will be there, and the guest list has been expanded to more than 700!”

“Wow! How are we ever gonna get that many people to Fort Lauderdale? We had trouble finding one plane for the Las Vegas guests and one for the ones from New York.”

“The plane thing was all a ruse! The charter airline that Compass has is handling everything, except for the transportation for the four of us. We’ll travel on the G-V and our own yachts. I’m telling you, we’ve been ‘had’ by those women, but it’s going to be great. Unbelievable, really.”

“It’s got to cost a fortune though,” Matt said, still looking for a flaw.

“The deal the girls worked out is that we’ll pay Compass what we would have paid anyway. The rest is “on the house” so to speak. I’m dumbfounded at Ethan’s generosity.”

“I still have my doubts, but I’ll give in. It sounds too good to be true.” Matt said capitulating. “I guess I’m just a bit hurt because I put so much time into the planning of what we were going to do.”

“From what I understand, much of the rest is unchanged,” Ron said, trying to raise Matt’s enthusiasm. “For me it’s all about you, Babe. The trappings don’t really matter. I just want to tell the world publicly, that you’re mine.”

“Thanks Babe. How easy to forget the important stuff when dealing with the trivial details.”

“A year ago, I wouldn’t have believed any of this,” Tyler said in awe of the whole scenario. “I can’t wait to tell Dan. He’ll be overwhelmed.”

“One of the best parts is that our cruise aboard the PT I and II will go on, except we’ll be alone for one day on the way to the Bahamas, a kinda pre-honeymoon with only the crew members aboard to see to our comfort. We’ll see all our guests for the wedding the next day in the Bahamas and for the day after.” Ron concluded. “ We can party with the crowd, then return to our “little boats” when we want more privacy or intimate surroundings. When the Sojourn leaves for Ft. Lauderdale, our original yacht guests will board and we’ll have three more days with just them.”

“Did I hear that Ethan and Rick wouldn’t be there for the whole celebration?” Tyler asked.

“They will fly to the ceremony on their 777, and host the celebration afterward in Nassau. Unfortunately, they have other obligations that will cut their visit short.”

“We’ll want to invite Ethan and Rick here,” Matt remarked. “Such generosity needs to be returned in kind.”

“Well, I’m sure that Ethan is not looking for reciprocity, but you’re right of course. We’ll work out a time when we can have them as our guests.” agreed Ron.

“I’ve got to leave this happy gathering,” said Tyler pushing back his chair. “I need to get cleaned up properly, and dressed to go pick up Dan at McCarran. We’ll come straight back though. If you want to hold lunch for us, we should be back before 1 o’clock.”

“That should work,” Matt said. “I for one will be happy to see Dan again.”

“I for two,” Tyler agreed blushing.

Saturday afternoon, NW Las Vegas

Christina Rogers held the front door open so the delivery men could bring in the furniture she had purchased for her rented home. It was not a particularly large home but had two large bedrooms in addition to the Master, and had wide doorways and halls. The bathrooms were large too. Those features would be necessary if her cousin were released from custody and came to live with her. It had taken her a week to find a house she wanted and to get the furniture to make it habitable. She had brought few of her things from Arizona, so she still had to go shopping for linens, and kitchen utensils, as well as tableware. She hoped that by Monday, she would have all that done plus grocery shopping and then begin to get back to her main purpose, the revenge of the people she blamed for one cousin’s injuries and the other’s death. One thing she particularly liked about the location of the house was that it was only three miles to the RET offices, and 7 to the front gate of Ron Turner’s estate. It would be easy to plot out her next move as she could conveniently scope out the ‘stomping grounds’ of her enemies.

She had visited her cousin Tracy each day in the hospital, and had hired a well-known criminal attorney for his defense. Her arrival had lifted Tracy’s spirits and each day they would find enjoyment discussing the revenge they both wanted. Their attorney had been swift to act. A notable feature of the coming week was the preliminary hearing on the case and the determination of bail. Their lawyer felt sure that the Judge would grant bail, and the amount would be rather reasonable because of Tracy’s immobility. Another reason was the great expense the taxpayers would be burdened with in caring for an injured prisoner. She was very hopeful that he would be released into her care.

She contemplated the things left to do as the deliverymen finished their job and left. She picked up her purse and the keys to her new Cadillac and headed for her car that she had left at the curb. It was time to do a little shopping for immediate necessities, then get some dinner before she went for her evening visit with her cousin Tracy.

Late Saturday Afternoon, the home of Senator Young

Senator Ben Young sat in his Las Vegas home, contemplating his future. Since being released on $500,000 bail on Friday, the principal thoughts in his mind were for minimizing the political damage his arrest and the sensationalist news articles on his incarceration had placed upon his head. The Senator had deep political roots and many local jurists owed him big-time for their seats at the bench, so the criminal charges were of less concern than the political consequences. Knowing that the public often reelected persons charged with far more damaging accusations than he faced, he realized that it took a real juggler of public opinion to handle it adroitly. He was no stranger to deception though. His political career had capitalized on it. He knew how to play to both sides of the street, keeping his own skirts clean while the dirty work was done beneath the table. He smiled. He was far from being a ‘has been.’

Saturday evening, Ron and Matt’s estate

Ron, Matt, Tyler and Dan stepped onto the pool deck, drinks in their hands, ready to enjoy before-dinner cocktails and the conversation of a family coming together.

“Here’s to my brother and to the love of his life, Dan,” Ron said raising his glass in a toast.

“I’ll drink to that,” Matt replied as he brought his own glass up to touch that of his lover.

Thanking Ron, the reunited couple raised their glasses to ‘clink’ the two raised in salute.

After taking a sip of their drinks and sitting down around a patio table looking out over the valley, Matt asked, “How do you think you’ll like living in Las Vegas, Dan?”

Dan looked at Tyler before answering.

“I could be happy anywhere Tyler is.”

“Spoken like a man in love,” Ron said with a smile.

“It’s so beautiful up here,” Dan remarked. “I can’t wait ‘til we have our own home. It’s going to be wonderful.”

“It’ll be a while before it’s built,” Ron advised. “In the meantime, if you need anything for the guest house just let either of us, Dorothy or Parker know.

“Thanks Ron. I’m sure it will be fine. Tyler told me all about the changes in our ceremony plans too. I must admit it will be most unusual, and extravagant beyond my wildest imagination.”

“We can thank Ethan West and his major domo Sarah for most of it, not that Jan and Margaret weren’t co-conspirators. It’s just that most of the work was done in Florida, not here,” Ron reported.

The French doors to the pool deck opened and Parker emerged, phone in hand

“It’s Bryan and Alan from New York, Ron,” he announced.

Ron took the phone, but asked, “Please bring out the ‘walk around’ speaker phone, Parker.”

“Yes Sir,” he responded, departing back inside.

“Hi guys,” Ron answered.

“Hi back,” Bryan responded, unheard by the other three men around the table.

“I’m here with Matt, Tyler and Dan. We’re sitting on the patio enjoying cocktails. I just asked Parker to bring out the remote speakerphone, so we can all chat together. Oh, here he comes now.”

Parker placed the remote conference-type speakerphone on the table, and pushed the ‘on’ button.

Ron disconnected the hand-held and handed it back to Parker who returned inside.

“Can you hear us?” Ron asked.

“Clear as a bell,” Alan answered. “We’re on a speaker phone here too.”

“How’s the weather there?” Matt asked.

“It’s still cold. I think the high today was 35 degrees,” Bryan answered. “Florida is sure sounding good after the cold winter we’ve had here.”

“I feel the same way,” Dan reported. “It’s around 70 here at the moment and it feels wonderful after New York.”

“We got a strange call a couple of weeks ago, and were asked not to say anything to you until today. It was about the ceremony next weekend in Florida,” Alan reported. “Is it all true?”

“I take it on the best accounts that it is,” Ron admitted. “The four of us here are just innocent bystanders in the whole affair.”

“It does sound like fun,” Bryan said. “I’m sure it’s not going to be like our last cruise aboard the PT II, but there will be a lot more room to stretch out.”

“That’s a ‘for-sure’, Ron said. “We’re looking forward to seeing you guys again.”

“Everyone here is very excited about the whole thing. It was nice that the guest list got expanded too. We’re bringing along a couple of major additions to our Friendship Trust staff that you need to meet. I hope it’s alright.”

“Any friend of yours is a friend of ours,” Matt confirmed. “Of course it’s ok. We hear the guest list has increased to around 700, so there should be plenty of surprises for us. This might not be the surprise wedding you received Alan, but it comes damned close.”

“I’m looking forward to seeing you guys again too,” Tyler interjected. “You’ve been great hosts when I’ve had occasion to be in New York.”

“I’d hardly call us hosts,” Bryan joked. “You spent most of your free time over at Dan’s and when we did see you, you had such a big smile on your face a monkey acting as host couldn’t have spoiled the moment.”

Tyler laughed as he and Dan blushed, taking each other’s hand under the table.

“Well, we’d better go,” Alan said apologetically. “We’ll see you soon in Florida.”

“Not so fast bubba,” Ron said quickly. “You haven’t gotten your joke-of-the-day yet.”

“Saint’s preserve us!” Bryan responded. “Now I know for sure we’re talkin’ to Ron Turner.”

Ron began in spite of the ‘dig’.

“A construction boss in Las Vegas was interviewing men, when along came a guy named Vinny DiGuisto from New York.”

“ ‘I’m not going to hire any wise guy New Yorker,’ the foreman thought, so he made up a test hoping that Vinny wouldn’t be able to answer the questions, and he’d be able to refuse him the job without getting into a dispute.”

“ ‘Here’s your first question,’ the foreman said. ‘Without using numbers, represent the number 9.’”

“ ‘Widout numbuz?’ Vinny says. ‘Dat’s easy,’ and he proceeds to draw three trees. ‘What’s this?’ the boss asks. The New Yorker replies, “Ain’t you got no brains? Tree, ‘n tree, ‘n tree makes nine. Fagedaboutit…’”

“ ‘Fair enough,’ says the Boss.”

“ ‘Here’s your second question. Use the same rules, but this time use the number 99.’ Vinny stares into space for a minute, then picks up the picture he has drawn and makes a smudge on each tree. ‘Dare ya go, Buddy.’”

“The Boss scratches his head and says, ‘How on earth do you get that to represent 99?’ Vinny says, ‘Each a da trees is dirty now! So it’s dirty tree, ‘n dirty tree, ‘n dirty tree, dat’s 99.’”

“The Boss is getting worried he’s going to have to hire the New Yorker, so he says, ‘All right, last question. Same rules but this time use 100.’”

“Vinny stares into space again, then picks up the picture once again, makes a little mark at the base of each tree and says, ‘Dare ya go, Mac, a hunnert.’”

“The Boss looks at the picture for a moment and says, ‘You must be nuts if you think that represents 100!’”

“New York Vinny leans forward and points to the marks at the base of the trees. ‘A little doggie comes along and takes a crap on each a dem trees, so now ya got dirty tree an’ a turd, dirty tree an’ a turd, dirty tree an’ a turd, which makes one hunnert…’”

“ ‘Bada boom, bada bing…When do I freakin’ start?”

Laughter roared across the patio both from the men at the table and from the speakerphone.

Moments later the laughter and giggles died down, and Ron’s said with a grin, “I knew you guys missed me.”

“Yeah, like the measles,” Bryan quipped.

“Ok for you,” Ron said feigning a pout. “See if I tell you anymore of my good ones.”

“When did you ever tell us any?” Bryan replied, poking fun at his friend.

“Ewww! I’ll get you for that, kid.”

“Ya gotta catch me first,” Bryan taunted.

“Hey guys, grow up!” Alan interjected.

“You’re no fun at all,” Ron complained.

“Yes he is,” Bryan answered.

“I didn’t mean THAT!” Ron said emphatically.

“Say goodnight, Ron,” Matt ordered.

“Goodnight Ron,” Ron repeated.

“Night guys,” Matt said, ignoring Ron’s attempt at further humor!

Everyone added their ‘good night’ from both ends of the call. Ron pushed the disconnect button.

Everyone sat back in their chairs and took a breath. The door to the house opened and Parker appeared, dressed formally.

“Dinner is served, gentlemen.”

“Thanks Parker,” Ron said. “Come on guys, let’s go in and see what Mary has prepared for us.”

The four men entered the house, then stepped into the formal dining room. The table was resplendent with gleaming china, crystal and silver. When they were seated, a white wine was served with their appetizers. Each received a small plate with assorted pieces of tempura cauliflower and zucchini, buffalo wings, and potato skins.

“I’d like to propose a toast,” Ron said rising from his seat and raising his glass. “To our happy family, may it prosper and grow.”

The others arose and touched glasses together before taking a sip.

“Who’s pregnant?” Matt asked, as they were again seated.

Laughs followed.

“Now for a story,” Ron said.

Matt looked at the ceiling.

“A man walks into the doctor’s office.”

“ ‘What seems to be the problem?’ asks the doc.

“ ‘It’s…um…well…I have five penises,’ replies the man.”

“ ‘Blimey!’ says the doctor, ‘How do your trousers fit?’”

“ ‘Like a glove,’ the patient replied.

Matt couldn’t help but lead in the laughter that followed.

“Tyler,” Ron asked when the laugher had died, “would you ask the blessing?”

“My pleasure brother,” Tyler replied.

“Heavenly Father, we gather here tonight as family. We thank You for the blessings that you have given us. We thank You for the prosperity we have, but more than that, we thank You for each other. Whether with brother, partner or friend You have blessed us and made our life full and complete. Now we thank You for this meal and those who prepared it. May it provide strength in our bodies to do Thy will. In your name we pray, Amen.”

“That was beautiful, Tyler.” Dan said to the agreement of the two others.

“Thanks, Babe. I’m hungry let’s eat,” he said quickly dodging further praise.

The appetizers were heavenly, and the dishes that followed during the next hour and a half, each outdid the preceding one. When the last spoon was laid down, and napkins placed on the table, Ron rang a small bell at his left. Parker entered.

“Parker would you, Mary and Dorothy join us for a moment?” Ron asked.

“Of course Sir,” Parker replied as he stepped back into the kitchen.

Appearing quickly, the three stepped back into the dining room.

“Yes Sir?” Parker queried.

“Parker, Dorothy, Mary, I’d like to express, from all of us, our thanks for the wonderful meal. It was outstanding. More than that, I’d like to personally thank you for the years of service to me, and now to my expanded family. As a small token of our appreciation, I’d like to give you these gift certificates and three weeks off at a time of your choosing.”

He handed each of the surprised employees an envelope. Opening the envelope Parker took out a piece of printed paper and began to read aloud.

"This document is good for a three weeks vacation, all expenses paid for the bearer and a guest to any location and any accommodation, including meals, of their choosing. Transportation will be included and primary transportation will be provided by the RET GV aircraft. The attached check is for spending money, not for any of the above amenities. We love you. Signed: Ron, Matt, Tyler and Dan.”

A check for $3000 was also in the envelope.

“Thank you so much gentlemen,” they all exclaimed in excitement.

“Uh, there’s only one thing,” Parker said hesitantly.

“What’s wrong Parker? I’m sure we can make any change you want.” Ron said with concern.

“Nothing’s wrong, Sir, except Mary and I will only need one of these certificates. Mary has agreed to marry me.”

The table erupted in congratulations. Each man leapt to his feet, hugging and shaking hands with the pair. It took ten minutes for the excited chatter to abate.

“Coffee and after-dinner drinks will be served on the deck, gentlemen,” Parker remarked, reverting to his usual role.

“Please join us,” Matt invited.

“Thank you! We will Sir, but just for a few minutes. We still have things to do before we retire to our homes,” Mary added.

“Come out with us, then go home,” Ron suggested. “There are four of us. I’m sure we can manage to clean up.”

“You’re not happy with our service?” Mary asked, appearing hurt.

“Of course we are Mary!” Ron said almost in shock.

“Then shut up…… Sir,” Mary said grinning.

Ron laughed, and was joined by the others.

“Darn, I seem to be the fall guy for bossy women,’ Ron said in a lamenting voice.

Later, on the terrace at Ron and Matt’s house

The four men now sat on the terrace after Mary and Parker had disappeared inside.

“You know Babe, I’ve been thinking of our phone conversation with Bryan. Is that an example of how you and he used to chat on the Internet?” Matt asked.

“Yep, pretty much. It was a lot of fun,” Ron answered. “I used to love to chat with him in the evenings when we both had nothing better to do. I guess it saved me from being lonely before I had you all in my life.”

“I could see how it would,” Dan said. “You both must care for each other a lot.”

“Yes, we do. The last seven or eight months everything has changed greatly. I now have Matt, and Alan no longer works at night or without Bryan fairly near. I found it much more satisfying to chat with friends on the Internet, than just to watch TV or go out alone. Bryan was my best friend, for sure. I love the guy. You can see why I wanted to meet him.”

“I do.” Matt responded. “It makes you wonder about all the single people out there who are lonely, yet friendships and camaraderie are available right there at the touch of a keyboard and mouse.”

“I’m kinda surprised that you never ‘went after him’ romantically.” Tyler observed. “You have been pretty successful at going after, and getting, what you want.”

“I’d be lying if I said that the thought never crossed my mind,” Ron admitted. “Then I met Alan and saw how they looked at each other. I knew then I’d never stand a chance, and secondly, I got a renewed respect for the relationship of two guys in love. I’d lost that, after my first love died and I wallowed in loneliness and self-pity. At least on a romantic plane, I’d have to say that meeting Bryan and Alan was the start of me regaining my proper perspective on the value of real love relationships.”

“That was when we met, wasn’t it?” Matt asked.

“Yes Babe. You’ll remember what I was like then. I felt that getting my rocks off was the path to drowning the sorrows of losing my first love. Even though I was over the worst of my grief, I still hadn’t come full circle into a healthy understanding of love and of giving. I thought that giving was providing a good time and doing expensive and fun things. I can’t say I was miserable in that life, but I didn’t feel the real joy in my life that I do now.”

“Well, I know that you sure swept me off my feet, so to speak,” Matt quipped.

Ron grinned. “I admit that at first I was just after your hot bod’,” Ron revealed. “Then I started falling in love. I didn’t plan it to happen, but it did anyway. You made me feel whole again. ‘That look’ came back into my eyes. It was the look of a guy in love. The same look that I see across the table from me. Not just from you Babe, but between Tyler and Dan.”

“I know what you mean,” Tyler agreed. “When I look in Dan’s eyes its like electricity flows between us. It’s not just lust either. We communicate our love for each other with our eyes. I look in Dan’s eyes and I just want to crawl inside his whole being and be one with him.”

“All this talk of love and stuff is making me horny,” Ron admitted. “I’ve got an itch that needs scratchin’. Would you guys think us rude if we ‘called it a night?’”

“I thought you’d never suggest it,” Tyler said winking.

“We’ll take the drink glasses in,” Matt offered. “You guys can go directly to your little chateau.”

“Thanks guys. Goodnight,” Tyler said, echoed by Dan, Matt and Ron.

Midnight, Ron and Matt’s room

Ron and Matt lay naked on their bed. There was no urgency for frenzied lovemaking. They both knew and appreciated a prolonged ‘warm-up’ of foreplay. It was not long before hands touched, then hands began to feel the warm, inviting surfaces of their partner’s attractive body. They turned to each other and their bodies touched, their penises hard from the attraction for each other that confirmed that each lovemaking act was performed not only for self-gratification, but to express the genuine desire to please the other man.

Lips touched and tongues began their gentle battle. Hands rediscovered the hills, valleys and plains of the body that mingled with their own. Tongues and lips followed the contours of the torsos that contained the hearts beating not so much with blood as with love.

Ron rolled on top of Matt and his mouth moved down the body he loved with all his being. His lips soon encircled the instrument of Matt’s lovemaking and his tongue provided stimulation that quickly had Matt rock hard. Matt’s spread legs raised to his chest, signaling his partner his desires. Ron prepared the opening and applied lubricant to make the entry easy and pleasurable.

As he carefully inserted his large tool into the waiting receptor, Matt opened his eyes that had been closed and said, “Ron?”

“Yeah Babe. Mmmmm! This is so good!

“Yeah, it is,” Matt grunted in agreement. “But I gotta ask you something.”

“Ok Babe but make it quick, I can’t wait much longer.”

“What’s the definition of ‘indecent’?”

Ron was shocked by the unexpected question at such a moment.

“Uh, I can’t think. What is the definition of ‘indecent’?”

Matt replied, “If it’s long enough, hard enough, and in far enough, it’s indecent! …. MMM! You’re indecent!”
