Hank and Liz had skipped the swim but were there for breakfast. Hank's and Michael's tents were down and their luggage at the cars. They were at Michael's car which was loaded and they were ready to leave. It was Michael who looked at the two guys. "I didn't know what to expect. One of the best July 1st celebrations, I have had. We really have to get together in the Fall term." He reached out and hugged first Lucas and then Robert. "Another family tradition that I have learned here. Feels good." Robert went over to Anna. He whispered in her ear. "I am so happy for you. You know that he is crazy for you? Have a great rest of the summer and we hope to see you and Michael in the Fall." Anna looked at him. "I see the looks and touches between you and Lucas. I am happy for you as well." With bit of smile, "Surprised but really happy." They gave each other a hug and a chaste kiss on the cheek. As Michael and Anna drove off, the two put their arms around each other. They turned and looked at each other. Lucas spoke first. "I am so glad that we invited them. I think that we have made another strong friendship with both of them." They each leaned over for a kiss. From behind them they heard, "Oh stop the lovey dovey stuff. Disgusting." Hank got a smack from Liz and Hank laughed. He loaded their stuff in his car and then Hank came over and gave Robert a hug. "See I can learn. Thanks so much for inviting us. It has been a great learning experience for me. Your family is amazing, down to earth, approachable, bright and inviting. We have had a great time. I loved the water skiing." "Hank, you have added so much to the team this year. Lucas thinks the world of you and so do I. We really enjoyed having you. Looking forward to that first week back with the hockey team. Stay in touch." Hank and Liz repeated everything with Lucas. Finally, they were waving goodbye as Hank's car disappeared down the hill and turned the corner. They turned and looked at the other. Robert tilted his head. "I think that we have some unfinished business in our tent. You know clean up and take it down." Lucas looked at him with a very intense smile. "And you call me a horny bugger. I love that look in your eyes when you are turned on." Lucas gave him a loving look. "Yep, unfinished business that never seemed to be completed. Just the way we both want it." They walked hand in hand to the tent. They kissed as they entered the tent. Not to either's surprise, they were both hard without even touching each other when they quickly undressed. It took them quite a while to finish their unfinished business. As they were to say later smiling, it was an excellent way to end a very successful July 1st. Present They were both enjoying their various summer jobs. They worked part time with Marchese Construction and the part time at The Accountants. The first week back after July 1st, Lucas worked the entire week at The Accountants. There was a complicated forensic account that was complex and fascinating for Lucas. He came home every night full of insights into the process of a forensic case. Robert loved to hear him so taken by the cases that he was working on. His course that he had taken with their new approaches had helped him handle the data and he had been an asset to the team. Robert had worked with Philipo. Lucas had downloaded a new Accounting system that Philipo and he had decided would be a good fit for the size of the business. Lucas would start to implement it when he came the next week to work with Philipo. Robert worked on the computer system optimizing it for speed and made some additions to the web site. On the last couple of days, Robert worked on a site as a worker. He was still determined to see the operation from the ground up. It had been tough work but he took in a lot and he knew that the physical effort was good for his conditioning for hockey. The first couple of weeks of the summer seemed to fly by. The highlight of each week was the time that they spent at the chalet every weekend with Paul and Brett and various family members. Paul was gaining more and more expertise in water skiing but it was Brett who was mastering the techniques the fastest. He loved every minute that he was on skis. Finally after the second weekend after July 1st on the way home, Robert mentioned that there were two things that he wanted to concentrate on. He wanted to do even more reading and organization for their trip to Paris and he wanted to start looking at his idea of creating a program for computers aiding forensic accounting. He knew that his first try would not be what he would end up with but he still had three more years to build his program and he wanted to start early. His aim was to possibly have a working program by the time that they graduated. He had jokingly said that he wasn't even sure that he could do it. He had decided to take the forensic accounting course that Lucas had taken and he had registered for it along with his computer courses. He had been clear to Lucas that he needed Lucas' expertise but Robert felt that he too needed to have a mind set of his own for forensic accounting. Lucas would obviously have to be be the lead in that area. They had had some emails from Charles and Emile when they first arrived in Europe and that really did have them concentrating on a schedule for Paris. Over almost a week of talking and reading, they had decided on an itinerary for their stay before the dads arrived. By the end of the week, they had a tentative itinerary. On the first Thursday, they would visit the Pantheon and walk around the Latin quarter that was close to their apartment which was only a short walk from the Sorbonne and the Pantheon. On Friday they would get up early and visit the Impressionist Gallery at the Musee d'Orsay. Then a walk over to the Tuilleries Gardens and the Place de la Concorde with a walk down the Blvd Haussmann going into some of the big department stores. On Saturday morning they would go early to the Eiffel Tower and walk around the Champs de Mars and possibly the Palais de Chaillot opposite the Eiffel tower. Then rest in the afternoon and meet Charles and Emile at the restaurant. Then it was the club and dancing. Sunday would be Notre Dame for mass and possibly the Louvre; they wondered if the Louvre would be too much that day. They did want to wander a bit along the boulevards, especially along the Blvd St Germain. Monday was Versailles. Then they met the dads. They almost had to catch their breath at the itinerary. They would have to revisit their itinerary and to plan some more relaxing days. From their reading, they knew that they were just touching the surface and that they would be back to Paris in later years. In the first week of August they were both at The Accountants. Robert had finished the web site. It was a little later than he had anticipated. There had been some problems with the computer systems and he and all the IT staff had had to deal with that. He had finally finished the web site and he wanted to present it to his Dad before any announcement were made. He had made an appointment with his father for the Tuesday of that week. On the Tuesday at breakfast, Lucas could sense that Robert was a bit nervous and Lucas had suggested that they leave the office at noon and have lunch at a pub. Robert realized yet again what a blessing it was to have someone who cared about him so much and did little things like this for him. "So what is the worst that can happen. You might have to make some changes. Your dad might hate it and you would have to start over." Lucas had laughed at that last possibility telling Robert for the hundredth time that the site was excellent in so many ways and his father was going to love it. They arrived back at work and Robert felt better for the lunch out. As they parted, Robert thanked Lucas for the break at lunch and the encouraging words. Robert leaned over and gave his guy a hug and a quick kiss on the lips. They didn't see the member of staff who came around the corner as they kissed and separated. Robert would find out later in the day who it was. He was still a little nervous when he entered the bosses office. It had been an even bigger job that the Marchese Construction site. He had put a lot of effort into the design and the vast amount of information that was in the previous site. He had streamlined it a bit and he hoped that his father would approve. However, his dad was the boss and Robert would have to let him know that he would make any changes that he wanted. As usual, he had timed his arrival to the minute. Robert came in with his laptop. He always acted as an employee with the boss when he was on official business with his dad. It seemed to work for both of them. "Boss, it is done. I want you to look at it and I have made a copy for you so that you can go through it in detail. I still have several weeks to make changes, even revamp it if you want." "Let's see it." He pushed the button on the computer and the opening page opened up. He was watching his father's face as the page sprang to life. Jeremy's eyes opened wider. There was look of amazement on his face. Seconds passed. Robert couldn't help himself. "Well?" He father dropped the boss, employee mode. "Son, it is amazing. The colours, the design. It is modern, sophisticated, clear, concise. I love our crest and motto. Are you sure that you shouldn't go into computer web site design as your career path?" "No, looking at bigger things than that. I take it that you like it?" "Like it?" Jeremy leaned over and gave his son a hug. Robert gave him a guided tour of the site and explained why he had done certain things. "Boss, I hoped that you would like it. I think that you know me. This is my effort. I know that you have to run this past partners and management. I can fix almost anything or add anything that people want but I have to have a clear mandate that the basics design is what you want." He gave him a printed summary of what he had tried to achieve with the new site. "Robert, this summary reminds me of my summary pages that I do when I attach a list of recommendation when I end a forensic case. I often include why I did certain things." He stopped and looked a this son. "Let me be clear. I think that the site is incredible. I shall be proud to show it to anyone." The meeting finished and they stood up and Jeremy gave him a handshake and then a final hug. Robert was floating on air. He had put a lot of time into this web site and not just office time. He had worked at night and on the weekends at the chalet. He wanted to have something important at The Accountants that was his. He left the area and went in search of Lucas to tell him what had happened. As he neared the forensic unit, he heard raised voices. As he got closer, he realized that it was coming from Lucas' cubicle. His guy was standing staring at Daryl, the guy to whom Robert had tried to explain why gay sex was as natural as hetero sex. As he got closer, he decided he was wrong. Lucas wasn't just staring; he was angry as hell. There was no other noise in the entire unit. Everyone was in their office looking out trying to figure out what was happening. A couple of men had stood up, probably to help Lucas if he needed help. Lucas had become a respected junior member of the team. Robert smiled. Lucas didn't need any help but it was clear that the diplomat had left his body and the angry Lucas was there for all to see. Lucas voice was raised. "I don't care what you fucking say or saw. It is none of your fucking business so shut the fuck up." Lucas paused and listened. "Don't tell me back off. You are the one who is out of line. You know what you can do with your bloody prejudices." It was at that point that Robert was in the door to the cubicle. Daryl turned to look at him. Daryl didn't hesitate. "You lied to me. You are a fucking gay." "If you are talking about our little talk at the start of the summer, I just didn't give you any personal information about myself. To quote Lucas in more diplomatic terms," He turned to look at Lucas and then back to Daryl, "It was none of your business then, " Robert paused. "And it still isn't any of your business now. We didn't know that anyone was around. You came upon us by accident" Daryl was not going to stop. "You were fucking kissing in an office corridor and I had to watch your disgusting antics." Robert looked at Daryl with the trace of a smile. He had decided his next move. "Oh kissing? That was a little peck. You want to see a kiss? I can let you see a kiss." He moved to Lucas and planted a big wet kiss on his lips and it last for a few seconds. He turned to Daryl. "You should be so lucky to have such a wonderful partner as I have." Robert and Lucas looked up as they heard ohs and ahs and then clapping from the offices around the forensic area. They had outed themselves in public for the first time. Robert had figured that it was like what had happened with the hockey team. People would wonder and talk so he ended any speculation with the kiss and his words. It was obvious that their colleagues in the office didn't care who kissed whom. Like so many bullies, Daryl had to get in the last words. "You haven't heard the last of this. I am going to log a complaint with the head of my section." Both the guys shrugged their shoulders. A lot of the staff still didn't know that the big boss was his father. A lot did but they realized from his first summer at the firm that Robert could handle himself well. Now Lucas had the respect of the forensic department. If Daryl was smart, he could have his last words and then he should, in the about to become famous words of his partner, shut the fuck up. Supper ended. Jeremy looked at his son and his partner. "Want to tell me about it?" Robert decided not to beat around the bush. The boss seemed to have pipeline to every department in the firm. Jeremy prided himself in knowing what was going on in the firm. "I was a little anxious about our meeting this afternoon and Lucas and I went out for lunch. My guy settled me down and said some really nice things. We came back to the office and in a corridor where there was no one around, I gave him a physical thank you for being such a great guy. One of the younger accountants who is not know for being subtle about his views on sexuality came upon us unexpectedly. I didn't even know that he was behind us. He decided to take Lucas on." He turned to Lucas letting him take over. "The guy came in to my office and in very unsubtle language berated me about ...." He smiled at Robert. "the physical thank you. I lost all my former diplomatic skills and told him to fucking mind his own fucking business and to shut the fuck up." Jeremy was just holding back his laughter while Timothy, Paul and Brett were howling almost crying. Robert looked at his dad. "Dad, please don't do anything. I handled it. If anything does come of it, please let me know." Jeremy was smiling. "So let me recap. You were anxious about our meeting ... for reasons I can't understand and Lucas took you out to lunch. He calmed you down. Said some nice things. You gave him quick kiss back at work. An accountant who is not known to be subtle about his feelings about gay couples challenged Lucas." Turning to Lucas, "You lost it with him and Robert, forever the diplomat, took over and told him to mind his own business. Then I understand that Robert repeated his actions and gave the said partner a big wet kiss in the forensic unit viewed by almost the entire forensic staff." Robert and Lucas looked at each other, nodded their heads and at the same time, Robert continued. "Yeah, you got it right. Just like you Dad, simple, clear language and to the point. Well not quite correct. I think that the entire staff saw the kiss." Robert started to laugh as did everyone in the room. Apparently Daryl must have thought it over and decided to take both Lucas and Robert's suggestion. He did shut the fuck up. Later that week, the web site had been reviewed and a few changes had been made. Jeremy had organized a small celebration on Friday at the end of the day with some drinks and hors d'oeuvres for the release of the new website. Robert had almost begged him not to make a big deal about it but his father overruled him. Robert arrived and there was a big computer screen set up with a laptop. After everyone had arrived and had something to eat and drink, Jeremy asked for quiet for a minute. "I wanted everyone to see something this afternoon. Earlier today our website was taken down and replaced by new one." Robert almost flinched; he didn't like being singled out and he was certain he knew what his father was going to do. "I would like a member of our IT staff to come up and start up the new website. He has worked a lot of the summer on this and I think that you will see that it is a job well done. Robert Malenfant would you come up please and bring up our new website that you have created." Robert smiled; he knew that you couldn't stop his Dad when he wanted to do something. So he had to play by his rules. Like Coach, he was the boss. Robert reached over and quickly pressed the key and instantly The Accountants' website flashed on the screen. There were exclamations and comments about how sophisticated it was. In a typical move, Robert moved back to let staff come up to see it and play with the tabs. Lucas came up to him, gave him a glass of wine and raised his glass in a toast to his guy. He lightly touched Robert's hand. Their eyes connected as they raised their glasses to each other. For Robert that was most special part of the afternoon's celebration. The last weeks of their time before Paris went quickly. They had worked for Lucas' father for a few weeks in both July and early August and had had a great time living at Lucas' home. When they left there the week before the trip, they both were enthusiastic about their work in the summer and were really excited about the upcoming trip. They said their goodbyes to office workers at Marchese Construction and got the big hugs from Philipo along with an envelope for each of them which contained a large bonus all in euros. Robert tried to protest but Philipo would have none of it. They each had enough money for some very good meals out. On the Friday, they did the rounds at The Accountants and thanked everyone for the all that they had done for them. It was clear that the IT department would miss Robert and the forensic department was impressed with the contribution of this first year student. They both knew that they had a job for the next summer. The final weekend was spent packing for Europe and their return to university. They made the rounds to grandparents and great grandparents. There was a surprise visit from Lucas' parents who stayed over night at Robert's home. As Robert was to say in bed that Sunday night when talking about Lucas' mother and father, what a difference a year makes. Lucas had commented that that was a good title for a movie, novel or a story. There were Robert's parents, Jamie, Philipo, Momma and Pops waving at them as they went through security. There had been more envelopes with all the money in euros again. They were not going to have to make many withdrawals from the BNP (a major French bank) on the Rue Soufflot 100 metres from the Pantheon. Robert could see in his mind all the surrounding areas with the winding street and the inexpensive sidewalk restaurants where you lined up to get your food and ate it there often standing up or took it home. As they sat in the departure area, he told Lucas all about the area. Lucas was bubbling over with excitement. His excitement jogged Robert's memory; this was Lucas' first time outside North America. As they hurtled down the runway, it was Robert who finally muttered wheels up. He explained the comment to Lucas who was watching with fascination as the plane quickly gained altitude. He could see kilometres around the city as the city was left behind them. Now, Paris was only about 7 hours away. Robert was really pleased that this flight was an early morning flight so that they would arrive in the late afternoon, early evening. They had already decided to take the RER train from the airport to the Luxembourg station a short walk to the apartment. Their cabin luggage was a backpack each so that they only had to manoeuvre a relatively small suitcase each. As Robert had hoped, the skies over France were clear with just small clouds here and there. Both guys became more excited as they could see the banlieues of Paris. Lucas was so excited that he grabbed Robert's hand. They didn't care that they got a knowing smile from the flight attendant who passed by checking that the seats were up, tables away and seat belts attached. As they left the plane, the flight attendant did give them a smile and a wink as he wished them a great time in Paris. They didn't see a lot of Paris from the train. When they were in central part of Paris, it was all underground. They did have to change trains at the Gare du Nord but still no views of Paris. Finally, Lucas was in awe as he stood on the side of the Blvd. Saint Michel with cars driving by and the lights and bustle of Paris around him. He couldn't help himself. He grabbed Robert in a huge hug. The apartment was spacious and they took the smaller bedroom. They were hungry and they were soon walking on the small side streets near the apartment and Robert took Lucas to a small place that sold North African food that one had to line up for and one ate standing or walking. Lucas could not stop talking about the walk and the different architecture around them. They were in line talking to each other when a young man about their age, leaned over to interrupt the conversation. "Sorry, I could not help but hear you. You are obviously visitors to Paris. You speak French fluently but you have an accent that I have never heard before." Robert chuckled. "Any guesses?" "Not Belgian not Swiss." He paused. He smiled. "Just a guess, your clothes are a bit different, Canadian?" They nodded yes. "We have literally just arrived this afternoon and we were hungry. I was here last August and I have brought my friend this time. My parents arrive next Monday night. Do you live nearby? Do you attend the Sorbonne?" "Ah I am studying at the Sorbonne. Just about to start my second year. I am taking advanced computer technology studies in Computing and Mathematics." Robert started to laugh. "What a strange coincidence. We live six thousand kilometres apart and have arrived at the same food stall in Paris. In three weeks, I start my second year in Computer Technology!" He paused. "OK, introductions are in order. I'm Robert." Lucas stepped forward. "I am Lucas." "I'm Antoine." Looking at Lucas. "You pronounced your name as the English or Germans would say it." In French, "Guilty, my native language is English but I speak French. Robert and I speak French even at home and around the university." For the first time ever, Lucas pronounced Robert's name in French. I have some friends waiting so I have to run. "Could we get together tomorrow night or Friday night. I know, there is going to be a big party with dancing on Friday night at the Sorbonne. I could take you as my guests." Turning to Robert, "I would really like to hear about your courses and computer languages that you have learned. I would like to find out more about your university and Canada." Lucas and Robert looked at each other. Lucas spoke up. "I am not certain how to put this but what is the attitude to gay couples with you and your friends." Laughing, "Shit, this is the 21st century; we don't give a damn. Everyone is welcome." He looked at them with a smile. "I would never have guessed. Be careful in some places. There are areas of any city where you have to watch out what you say and do. I guess your parents know about you." "My two dads, Jeremy and Timothy are married." "Your story gets more and more interesting." They exchanged emails and telephone numbers. Antoine gave them an address where they could meet and he would take them to the dance. Friday was the day and they set a time. He was off quickly to meet his friends. They meandered a bit more until the yawns started to come frequently. The both almost dropped into the sofa beside each other. "Robbie, thank you. We have just arrived. This is so much better than I ever imagined. What a beautiful area of the city. We have a party on Friday night with students at the Sorbonne." He leaned over and gave Robert a kiss. "I may be a bit tired but that is only the start. I need a good hot shower ... with my guy." "I think that we may want to change our schedule. I'd like to go to the Eiffel Tower tomorrow morning. Then stop at the Arc de Triomphe and walk down the Champs Elysees to the Place de la Concorde and take the Metro back home. We can wander around here in the late afternoon and evening. Let's do the Musee d'Orsay on Friday but come back here after and wander, eat and meet Antoine later." "Hey, you're the boss. Sounds better than what we had planned. Now a shower!" The shower was very stimulating if the profile of their bodies meant anything. As Robert had muttered, that the damn thing didn't want to go down. Lucas had a solution for that. The solution was easy. Make love in Paris for the first time. It was slow and tender to start but as they touched each other, it became very active. Both guys shouted the others name as they finished. The best time came after the finish when they told each other how the other was such an important part of their life. They had breakfast and were on the RER very early and arrived at the Eiffel Tower before it opened. The were amongst the first group to be admitted. Lucas and Robert as well were enchanted. The views were spectacular, La Defense, the business area of Paris with its highrises, Montmatre and Sacre Coeur, the meandering Seine and the Boulevards of Paris. They did walk over towards the Palais de Chaillot. However they only asked some tourists to take their pictures as he had done with his dads on the same spot where Hitler's picture had been taken so many decades ago. It was then on the RER to the Arc de Triomphe and a walk down the Champs Elysees. It was a long walk but they were in good shape and it was downhill. They arrived at the Place de La Concorde around noon. The decided to cross the Seine and catch the RER back to the Latin Quarter, the 5th arrondissement. They found some wonderful food shops along the Blvd Saint Germain and some of the side streets and they had a feast back at their apartment. It had been interesting that they were taken as students at the Sorbonne several times. Never once were they asked about their French or their accent. Lucas couldn't stop telling Robert that he was so glad that Robert had suggested that they always speak French to each other that day, the previous September. Both guys were excited with what they had done. They decided that they would go back out and walk around the Pantheon and perhaps visit it. Which is exactly what they did. After their visit to the Pantheon, they wandered and spotted a couple of restaurants that looked interesting so at around 20 hours (8 pm), they went into one which had good reviews. They had dressed up a bit and the Maitre d' had welcomed them in English and he apologized when Robert spoke back to him in rapid, excellent French. To Lucas, he almost sounded like a Parisian. The meal was much better than they had expected. It was their first meal in Paris at a good restaurant and it had been good. It would not be their last. The next day, Lucas enjoyed the Musee d'Orsay as much as Robert had last year. Robert enjoyed it just as much the second time. They walked many kilometres that day. They ended up seeing Notre Dame but not going in and ended up at Place Maubert where the Rue Monge and the Blvd Saint Germain meet. There were several small shops with bakery goods, a cheese shop, a delicatessen and small grocery stores. Another feast at home that night before going out to meet Antoine. They had a map for the address that Antoine had given them and they were at the address minutes before the time that they had set. They used the buzzer for his apartment and they gave their names to a very bright sounding young lady. She opened the door. If this was his girlfriend or partner, she was beautiful. From the bedroom, "I'll be out in a minute." A minute later, a very sophisticated Antoine emerged. Antoine looked at the young lady. "Sophie, meet the two Canadian guys I met a couple of nights ago. Robert and Lucas." The two embraced Sophie and told here who was who. She smiled a very charming smile. "I understand the unattached girls will be very disappointed tonight. I understand that you two are together. Pity." They arrived at the place where the dance was being held. It was a large space on the grounds of the Sorbonne. It must have been run by an organization of students in the Sorbonne as the security and bartenders looked like students. There were already a lot of people drinking and dancing. They met Antoine's friends who had managed to have a table for all of them. The guys were introduced all around as the Canadians, Robert and Lucas, pronounced the French way. They talked and explained to all about their courses and their university and how it ran. What really interested a lot of the guys was that they were co-captains of the university ice hockey team. Finally Antoine and his friends stood up to dance. Antoine looked at the two guys. "Come on. Dance. You will be with us and I know that there will be no problems." All Lucas and Robert could think of was that they were at a student dance on the grounds of the Sorbonne. Robert's parents would never believe them. After a set of dancing, they were sitting down and Robert and Antoine had started to discuss their computer courses. Lucas went off to get some drinks for them. Robert was explaining the new language that he had learned and his project. He gave Antoine the link so that he could see it. Quite a few minutes later, Robert looked up. "Where is Lucas? I don't see him and he just went off for some drinks." Someone at the end of the table said that they saw him talking to a couple of guys and they had walked off with a guy on each side of him. Something in his mind alerted him; thoughts passed through his brain. Finally, fear and panic swept through Robert. This was not something that Lucas would do. "Which way did they go?" The guy told him. Robert stood up with a look of concern on his face. Antoine stood up with him. Antoine signalled to a couple of others to follow them. They walked in the direction indicated by the fellow and there was no sign of Lucas. They stood and scanned the room where they were dancing; no Lucas. They checked a washroom, no Lucas. They passed by a several doors and finally at a door down the hall, they heard muffled noises and voices. They opened the door. Lucas had been pushed against the wall and his pants were down and one of the guys was holding him with Lucas' arm pushed up his back. Lucas was shouting at the guys and struggling to to get free. "I'll fucking kill you. (in English)." The other guy had his pants down and was erect. They all heard him mutter, "Fucking queer, see if he likes a real man's cock." He had grabbed hold of Lucas and was ready to enter him but Lucas was moving and struggling. The guy pushed him hard against the wall. "Stay still or I'll really hurt you." Robert screamed and cursed at the guys using his best French Canadian swear words as he ran towards them. They let go of Lucas and they turned to fight off Robert and his friends. Robert rushed the guy who was about to rape Lucas and punched him in the stomach and as he doubled over, he struck his chin. The guy went down. The other guy lost all his fight. Lucas pulled up his pants and literally fell into Robert's arms. Robert grabbed hold of him. Lucas had obviously tried to fight the guys off. He had a cut on his face and huge bruise on the left side of his face. He could hear the guy who had held Lucas' arm up his back muttering about the fucking gays and they deserved everything they got. Robert wanted to strike out again but he had his guy in his arms. "Its OK. We are here. You are OK. Our friends have helped us and have called the police." Almost crying, "I feel like a fucking idiot. I think that they saw us dancing. They recognized my accent and just said that they wanted to talk about Canada and our university. I didn't realize until it was too late what was happening. I think that they put something in my drink while we were talking; my head is swimming and I feel as if I am going to fall over. I have ruined our night here." His unfocused eyes looked around the room. "That's my drink over there." Antoine picked it up. "Lucas, you are not at fault. You were your usual, friendly, trusting self. They have spoiled our time here. NOT YOU." They were put in a room with chairs and they stayed until they were interviewed by the police. They gave statements and Lucas refused any medical treatments although the police did check him over for broken bones. One of Antoine's friends had a car and he drove them home. They couldn't thank the guy enough. Robert held Lucas as he got him up the stairs. He undressed him and they lay in bed talking with Robert holding him tightly. "Robbie, I am so sorry. I have ruined your night." Robert saw the tears forming. He held Lucas tightly. Lucas started to cry. Robert's only comment, "Let it out. It ... was ... not your fault; it was those bastards. You were your good, trusting self. You're OK. You're OK. You are OK." Finally, his crying became sobs and ended with short intakes of breath. Robert wanted to reassure him in a very physical way but he knew that any physical activity would have to wait until his guy came to terms with what had happened. Eventually they both fell asleep. Robert woke at sometime in the middle of the night with Lucas holding him like a life line. Robert needed the bathroom. As he climbed back in to bed, Lucas' eyes popped open. The tears started again. Robert decided not to talk. He grabbed his guy and held him tightly. He put hands around Lucas face and looked into his eyes. He kissed him lightly. Like a drowning man, Lucas clutched him fiercely and kissed Robert with a deep, intense kiss. Lucas looked into Robert's eyes. With a smile amidst the tears. "My hero. Did you break that guy's jaw?" "I can only hope so. You don't take on the partner of the co-captain of the hockey team and get out without a bump or two." Robert kissed him hard and suddenly there was an urgency in their actions. Robert looked at his guy who was suddenly erect and ready. "Lucas, take me anyway that you want but I want you in me." Only minutes later with tears in both their eyes, Robert felt Lucas' rhythm change and from the cathartic look on Lucas' face, he knew that he was finishing and that he would be OK. Robert yelled Lucas' name as Lucas had come out and sucked him to his own cathartic finish. They kissed. They grabbed each other holding the other as closely as possible. Sleep claimed them. Comments If you liked this story, you might want to read the others that I have published on Nifty. In particular, my first story, Unexpected Change which has had the most positive comments and one of my other favourites, What a Difference a Year Makes. I have recently reread Introspection and it is worth a read, Michael Burtchell's story is in Discoveries; its ending is a little weak but getting there is fun.
