They had worked hard for an hour when they heard the door to office
open. He heard Mark's voice asking who was there.

"It's Robert and Lucas." They stood up and went to see to see him. "I
should have know that you would come in."

With Phoebe beside him, "Boss, I didn't break my promise. We went dancing
last night and it was great. I told Phoebe over breakfast what we had
agreed to."

Phoebe spoke up. "Boss, I have some ideas and I wanted my work computer
which has files which I could possibly need. This is a really big deal,
good money, our chance to get our first contract. We need a really great
presentation. As you say, the website is the first thing that the people
see. Even just an opening page will give then an idea of what we can do for
them."

"OK, lunch is on us. We came in for the same reason. We were all working
very hard last week and I certainly didn't have the time to do a lot of
work on this. Thank you both. Alright, to work."

They worked hard and finally broke for some lunch around 1:00. It was

each other. There was a spark between them. They had a quick lunch and
agreed to stop at four and show each other what they had done.

At four, it appeared that they were ready for Monday. Robert had a few
finishing touches that came to his mind as they talked after they stopped
working.

Robert and Lucas had been invited to go to his dads' home for supper. They
entered the house to smell the wonderful smell of his Papa's lamb
stew. There was already a very good bottle of Chilean wine opened in the
living room.

His Dad spoke up. "So you were at work this afternoon. I hope that this
doesn't happen too often."

"Dad, we have big presentation Monday afternoon. It could be our first big
contract which we are going to need for a whole lot of reasons. Sales of
Forensic+ are slowing as we expected. They might pick up after the
conference in St. Louis but we really want the other side of the business
to become profitable. I sure know how Jamie must have worked when he
started The Accountants. It is exciting but I have a staff to pay and an
office to manage."

"Son, you are going to make it. I can tell with your drive and with that
guy over there, you are going to be okay by next spring. I'll try and
remind you of that next year." He smiled. "Now, your Papa has cooked a
great meal and let's enjoy it."

His Papa shook his head looking lovingly at his Dad. "I did the stew but
your Dad did the vegetables, set the table and bought that lovely
wine. He's right! Lets eat. I'm hungry!"

Again, he saw why and how his Dad and Papa were so close. They did things
together and never played the other one down. He could see how he and Lucas
acted much the same way. When they arrived home. He grabbed Lucas in the
kitchen where he was putting some of the lamb stew in the refrigerator. He

"What's that about?"

"I wanted to kiss you. I watched yet again how Dad and Papa operate. They
always give praise to the other. I think that we do the same and I just

"I could think of some other ways that you could thank me."

With a sultry tone. "So can I!"

And that is what they did.

Quite a while later as their breathing turned to normal. Lucas looked at
Robert. "Robbie, I can't tell you how much you mean to me. I watched you
this morning and afternoon with Mark and Phoebe. I am not sure how you do
it. You are the boss but you listen and take advice so well. I watched you
with Phoebe. You praised her work but you were so good about redirecting
her with some of the things that you wanted her to do on the web
site. Between the two of you, it is a fantastic site. She now even has one
of the tabs working. Then you worked with Mark on how you wanted him to
take over the meeting when he will outline the options that our firm can
offer this company."

Lucas wrapped his arms around his guy, kissed him again.

They got the contract. The owner of the firm told Robert that if all worked
out as they planned, he would pass the name of the Robert's firm to some
other firms which were in the same position as his firm was. It was what
Robert had hoped would happen. Robert did stress that every firm was
different with unique problems and he would appreciate the referrals but he
would like to keep the costs undisclosed. The contract was signed and they
could start the next day.

The remainder of the week they worked hard at the firm. Phoebe had worked
very hard and almost had the web site ready to replace the previous one by
Thursday. They would probably make the change on the Friday afternoon if
the owner accepted the web site as it was on Thursday at the end of the
day. She had stressed that she could incorporate changes easily to the site
when it was up and running.

Robert had noticed that Edward had worked hard on his tasks at the company
but he had been unusually quiet and appeared to be a bit withdrawn when he
was not working. Robert had been really pleased with how Edward had worked
out at the firm. He had become a different person than the one that Charles
Hunter had described. At the end of the day, Robert had made a point of
going and sitting beside Edward as he was drinking a cup of coffee back at
the office.

"Edward, you did a really good job today. I know that it is not the kind of
work which you enjoy but you really shone. But... you seemed a bit
withdrawn when you were not working. Anything wrong?"

"Boss, you are so perceptive. Thanks for asking. Could we go for quick bite
to eat. I really don't have a lot of friends here with whom I can bounce
ideas around."

Robert gave Lucas a quick call. Lucas would go home and they would meet
there. Robert and Edward ordered. While they were waiting for the food,
Edward looked at Robert. He managed a little smile and then blew air out of
his mouth. "Boss, I have never been in a position like this before and I am
not sure what to do. I have a boyfriend, Guy (pronounced the French way). I
met him in the Spring of my last term. We graduated at the same time. We
both got jobs here in town. We had decided to live apart to see how things
would work out. Well, I thought that things were working out well. We end
up staying at each others place and we do a lot of things together. He
seemed a bit withdrawn in the last couple of weeks. I finally did what you
just did; I asked him if there was something bothering him. Didn't expect
the answer that I got."

Edward raised his eyebrows, drew in air and then expelled it. He looked
almost defeated. He sighed. "Guy is feeling that we are young with not a
lot of experience. He wants a more `open' relationship. Apparently, he
wants a more exciting love life with surprises and with different guys. I
thought that we were doing fairly well in that department. Sorry Boss, I am
not boasting. It is just what I thought."

Robert put his hand on Edwards arm. "What are you and he doing this
weekend?"

"I'm not sure. We haven't talked this week since we talked about this. As
far as I know, he is planning on a weekend which doesn't include me. He may
be starting his `open relationship' this weekend."

"In some ways, you are talking to the wrong guy." He explained his history
with Anna and then Lucas, his first and only male lover. "Lucas and I were
planning on going dancing this weekend with some friends. One more isn't
going to bother anyone. You are a good looking, well built guy. Watch the
room and find some guys who are dancing with many guys and ask for a
dance. Let yourself go. Enjoy it. Who knows you might have some fun and
might start your own `open' relationship. It might just kick your guy in
the balls and make him wake up." Robert, with a big smile, "Sorry, for the
language. If you tell anyone that I said that, you will die." Robert
started to laugh as did Edward.

Chuckling, "Boss, thanks. I would like to take you up on the
invitation. Saturday night? I am going out with you and your friends no
matter what Guy decides on. He is not invited." Robert nodded yes and they
exchanged telephone numbers.

Later in the kitchen, Lucas could not stop laughing. "My guy, the
relationship expert. Might kick him in the balls." Laughing loudly,
"Robbie, I know why I love you so much." Lucas moved up to Robert. Lucas
let his hand drop and suddenly, Robert could feel Lucas' hand caressing his
balls lightly.

Robert closed his eyes and sighed. "That sure is better than a kick."

They were in the kitchen. Suddenly, Robert turned Lucas around and pressed
him against the counter and kissed him passionately. Clothes were off in a
minute. Quite a while later they were lying in bed naked and sated looking
at each other.

Robert looked at Lucas. "It doesn't take much to get you going."

"Hey, it was you who kissed me passionately and stripped me naked."

"Whose hand happened to come in contact with my balls?"

Saturday night and the place was packed. They found a table and seats for

Edward was so engrossed with watching them that he did not notice that
someone was standing beside him.

The guy cleared his throat. "You shouldn't be sitting here watching those
guys dance. I bet that you are a great dancer. I am surprised that you
aren't up there dancing as well. Would you give me a try?"

Edward looked up. There was a young man who was just over 6 foot, well
built, good looking with a lovely smile as he looked at Edward. His clothes
were expensive looking and fitted him perfectly.

"Best offer I have had tonight."

"I've been watching you. It is your only offer."

Laughing. "Right but I am going to make it a great offer."

Several dances later, there had been a couple of fast ones and then a
lovely slow dance. At the end of the slow dance, Lucas told Robert to look
to his left. He saw Edward tightly embraced by a very good looking young
man. Edward looked at the guy who said something to him and Edward smiled
at him and the guy leaned over and gave Edward a quick kiss on the
lips. They walked off to the guy's table hand in hand.

They were talking to their friends when Edward came up to the table and
introduced the very attractive man, Geoffrey. He just wanted Robert and
Lucas to know that he was joining Geoffrey's table and then he was leaving
with Geoffrey.

They danced a few more dances. They noticed that Geoffrey was only dancing
with Edward. It was obvious that the two were getting on very well. Just as
a set ended, a guy, who Robert had never seen before, approached Edward
looking quite annoyed. Their words became heated. At one point, Edward
leaned over to Geoffrey and with a trusting look said something to
him. Geoffrey nodded yes and left the two. After a few more angry words
between Edward and the guy, Edward shrugged his shoulders and started back
to the table.

The guy followed him. As Edward bent over to say something to Robert, the
guy put his hands on Edward's shoulder. The guy raised his voice. "So this
is how you treat me after all this time."

Edward cringed but looked very annoyed as he turned to the guy. "Guy
(pronounced the French way), you dropped a bomb on me earlier this week. It
is now Saturday night. You have not called all this week. I told you that I
was surprised about you wanting a more open relationship. So when I didn't
hear from you, I assumed that you were going out to start your open
relationship. I decided to go out dancing with some people I know and enjoy
myself. I met an interesting man this evening. I am saying good bye to my
friends and then I am going to dance with Geoffrey."

"Well good luck with that, two can play that game."

"First, it is not a game. You sounded very definite about having an open
relationship. So I decided when I didn't hear from you that I would go out
by myself. Fair is fair. By the way, there seems to be someone waiting for
you over there. Your date tonight?"

"Fuck you!" Guy stormed off and did in fact go over to the guy who had been
waiting for him.

Edward turned to Robert. "Sorry Boss for the scene but I wasn't going to
put up with his nonsense anymore. He obviously came in with someone and saw
me with Geoffrey. I guess that I have been letting him direct our
relationship. No more. Thanks for the evening out. See you on Monday."

As Lucas and Robert left that night, their last sighting of Edward was a
guy who looked as if he had won the pot of gold. He and Geoffrey were
dancing very close with hands on each other butts. As the smart ass was to
say that there was only one way they could be closer and he suspected that
would happen very soon that evening.

When they finally went home, they did exactly what Lucas had said would
happen between Edward and Geoffrey. You cannot get any closer.

The next week would be complicated. Liam and Thomas were arriving at the
chalet early on Tuesday for their stay for the week. They would leave to go
back to Buffalo on the Sunday. Robert and Lucas spent a lot of Sunday
buying food and alcohol for the week. Anything left over would be used with
the staff the next week. They were both going in to work on the Monday but
they intended to leave for the chalet late Monday afternoon. They were
looking forward to the week with their friends but they knew that they had
to go in at least one day, Wenesday, as Robert had another potential
customer. He managed to get that sorted on Monday and they arrived at the
chalet around 6:30 in the evening.

It was beautiful day with temperatures in the high 20s with little
humidity. They unloaded the SUV and were in the porch looking down over the
water with a meal of Thai food that they had ordered in the city. It still
tasted great when they reheated it in the microwave.

Lucas reached over and put his hand on Robert's arm. "So, what's the story
of Edward's night with Geoffrey?"

"I watched him closely during the morning but I didn't say anything. I have
never seen him so energized. Finally after lunch, he dropped in to my
office and told me the story. He ended up spending the night, all Sunday
with Geoffrey and didn't get back home until early this morning. There was
no boasting about what they did. He just told me that they were compatible
and that they want to date and see how it goes. Apparently, Geoffrey has
just joined a law firm as a young lawyer. It just happens to be Papa's
firm. Geoffrey has been looking for someone who is bright with some of the
same interests as he has. Apparently they are well matched."

"And Guy."

"Edward didn't say anything but I suspect that if Edward brings anyone to
the chalet, it will Geoffrey. I am looking forward to meeting him. He
sounds like a great match for our guy."

Lucas looked at Robert. "Interested in a swim?"

"I would like it without swim trunks."

Lucas chuckled. "We do think alike. Nude it is."

Later, Robert, "I haven't had fun like that for a long time."

They had swum back to the dock. When they reached it and they were waist
high in the water. Robert looked at Lucas with a very intense look. "You
want to finish what you started out there. Don't give me that innocent
look. I was so hard when you started to play with me out at the raft and I
still am."

looking forward to coming back as we turned down the road from the chalet
on July 2nd." Moving quickly to Robert and Lucas, "Thanks so much." He
smiled as he opened his arms for the hug. Liam got one too.

They had a good lunch and then swimming and water skiing. They warned the
guys that they would have to be in the city at work tomorrow. After his
explanation why they had to go in, Thomas and Liam were impressed with how
Robert was expanding his business. The next morning, they wished Robert and
Lucas a good meeting as they saw them off. Robert was certain that Thomas
and Liam would have no problem entertaining themselves that day. They had
told them about the zoo and of the other tourist sites but it was obvious
that the guys wanted to swim, read and relax.

Mark had taken the lead on this presentation to the new firm. He did an
excellent job. Phoebe again had managed to produce an excellent web site
design. However, it was Edward who had impressed Robert yet again, as he
outlined the computer systems that they were recommending to the firm. His
presentation had been detailed leaving no doubt how their firm would manage
the system.

The owner of the firm said that he would have a decision the next
day. Robert was sure that they would win the contract. He congratulated
them all on their excellent presentations. Before he left for the chalet,
he had had a quiet word with each member of staff telling them in detail
why he was pleased with their presentation. Edward seemed most pleased with
his comments. Almost shyly, Edward had asked if he could bring Geoffrey to
the chalet from the Thursday to Sunday. The answer was of course.

They arrived back at the chalet to find dinner ready and waiting for
them. It was delicious; Liam and Thomas were very good cooks. They ended up
having a very mellow evening over more wine than they usually had. It
turned out to be a bottle of the wine they had discovered in the 5rh
arrondissment in Paris. They went for a swim as the sun was setting and sat
on the beach discussing their two days. They said their good nights.

When they were in their bedroom. Lucas turned Robert around and undressed
him. "I am so happy for you. I know that you will win the contract. Your
Papa is right. You will have a well established firm by next spring." He
pause with a sly smile. "Oh, I have a little bit of news. When I was in The
Accoutnants today, Mr. Marchese-Milner asked me to take over as head of the
Forensic Division at the beginning of September."

Unbelieving, "You kept that from me all day and evening? Lucas I am so
proud of you. You will do a fantastic job. I think that you have been doing
the job for quite a while."

Very quickly Lucas was naked. They had a joyful celebration.

Robert received the phone call the next day that he had hoped for. Mark
sounded so up beat as he told Boss that they had another customer and they
would begin the next day starting with planing the computer
installation. Phoebe was well ahead on the new web site and she was certain
that they could have it up and running early by the end of the week. Edward
was excited about his job of leading the installation of the computers and
software. What impressed Robert the most was that he didn't have to go
in. Mark handled it all. The new firm knew that their office would be
closed the next week but they gave them ways to contact them if there were
any problems.

Robert realized that they would soon need new offices. He would to have sit
down with Lucas and Mark and make a list of what they needed both in office
space and new hires. Perhaps, they could do that next week when the staff
was at the chalet. If he knew Mark, he was already thinking about
it. Robert decided to jot down some of his thoughts over the next couple of
days.

They had a great week together. They had taken Thomas and Liam to some of
the tourist spots in the area. Thomas couldn't stop talking about the small
zoo of rescued animals. They had a great lunch at the hotel where his dads
had gone on July 2 so many years ago when Timothy had finally come out to
his father. Robert realized again how lucky he was. Grand-pere Malenfant
was so different now and Robert loved every moment he shared with him.

It was with sadness that they waved goodbye on Sunday morning as the guys
headed back to Buffalo. There was an invitation to come up to the chalet on
the Labour Day weekend if they wanted. Robert and Lucas knew that the guys
might have other things that they would want to do in Buffalo but they did
give the invitation telling them that the family and friends would be there
and that it would be a great weekend. They also gave them an alternative,
to come up for Canadian Thanksgiving.

Robert and Lucas took off for the city about an hour after Thomas and Liam
had left. As it turned out most of Robert's staff would come up to the
chalet on various days the next week. Most had taken the Monday to stay at
home and relax. Robert had asked Mark to come in for Monday morning for an
hour or so to discuss the idea of new office space and new hires. Lucas and
Robert wanted to replenish the drinks and get some special food for the
week. It had been a very productive few weeks at work and with their
friends. They were looking forward to the next week with the staff at the
chalet.
