Comments mailto:preecherdave@gmail.com This chapter is a little shorter than usual but I ended it at what I thought was the right moment. I have had many things come up this Spring and I am going to have to take another break from writing. I hope it will not be as long as my last break. There are some exciting times coming for the guys. Previously They had a good evening with his parents and it was clear that Jeremy had been worried about how Lucas would react to his request. They talked about Christmas and the guys insisted that they were going to help and even takeover some of the jobs from his parents. They arrived back home. As the door shut behind them, Lucas yawned loudly. "God, it has been an exhausting day." Suddenly, Lucas was turned around and pushed up against the wall. Robert looked at him with a very determined look. He leaned over and kissed Lucas hard. Lucas yawned again loudly. Robert smiled and let his hand go down Lucas` body. It stopped below his belt. Robert looked at Lucas. "One part of your body doesn`t seem to be tired. It is hard already and feels quite happy." They were naked in record time. Many minutes later as Robert came out of Lucas, Lucas pulled Robert down and kissed him. Robert smiled. "Now you can get your sleep. Love you." Several minutes later, Robert heard the little noises of sleep from Lucas. Robert turned and looked at him. He whispered. "Sleep well my love. You are the centre of my life." Present The remainder of November past quickly for Robert and Lucas. They had phoned Thomas and Liam and explained why they couldn`t go to Buffalo for American Thanksgiving. Thomas and Liam were concerned for Jeremy and they sent their best wishes. They were at home in the first week of December and both commented on how quickly the Christmas season had come. There was talk of the Christmas party at The Accountants and that Robert`s company would celebrate with the staff of The Accountants again that year. Jeremy and Lucas had met over lunch several times and had settled on how Lucas would take over Jeremy`s position when the time came. They had included David at their last lunch so that everyone knew what his role would be. David was very excited about his leave of absence which started in early March. He would return in May to his regular position. Lucas finally accepted in his own mind that he could do the job well. Robert`s company had grown quickly in the two months after they had changed offices in October. As the word spread about how good Forensic+ was, they were still receiving orders for the program. In addition, they now had a large number of firms whose Fornensic+ program would have to renewed in the spring of the New Year. They now had a large number of firms who were using their services for setting up their office and being their IT department. They had had to hire two more staff members. For Lucas and Robert, their only worry was Jeremy`s cancer and his up coming operation. They had taken Jeremy`s word and had booked flights to Arizona and to Paris. Many weeks before, they had also made certain that their apartment in Paris was booked under their names. They had also booked the apartment for their stay in May with Thomas and Liam. The guys invited the dads over Saturday night in early December to discus how they could help at Christmas. Both Lucas and Robert had been very busy that week so they decided on an easy meal to prepare. Robert had found a pot roast recipe that looked very good. They had bought some oven baked potatoes and some frozen vegetables. It was not going to a gourmet meal but it would be good. They had an excellent bottle of wine to go with the food. They bought two very good scotches and a nice Prosecco. They had planned their strategy for dealing with the dads, especially Jeremy who kept telling them that all was good. However, Lucas had noticed several times that Jeremy would have small pain attacks as he stood up or bent over. He noticed that he was using the bathroom quite often. "What is the smell? My mouth is already salivating." "Ah, Papa, it`s only a pot roast." "It still smells great. I think that wine we brought will go well with it." They had some drinks in living room and shared general chit chat. Robert told them how the new office was working out. Lucas had sat beside Jeremy and they started talking about his plans for when he took over Jeremys` position. Earlier in the week, Robert had phoned Timothy and they had had a talk about how they wanted to help get his fathers get ready for Christmas. It was clear that Timothy was OK with the help. He too didn`t want to stress Jeremy. Timothy had also noticed the pain and frequent visit to the bathroom. Robert could see how stressed his Papa was for Jeremy. Robert was so glad that they had decided to do this. Robert finally spoke up. "I think that it is time that we talked about how we are going to help set up your hone for Christmas." "Robert, I am not an invalid. Timothy and I can do it." "Dad ...." Before Robert could even start his sentence, Jeremy broke in and started to laugh. Looking at Timothy, "He has that look of determination. You know that scary one `nobody is going to stop me`." Robert smiled at his Dad. "OK, I`ll lose that look but I`ll tell you what is going to happen. Paul and Sean are going to come over next weekend, probably next Sunday and move furniture around and set up the Christmas tree and put up Christmas decorations around the house. Lucas and I will be over on Saturday morning to bring the boxes of stored Christmas decorations from the basement to the living room. Your only decision is do you cook supper or do we order in." Everyone, including Robert, laughed. Quietly, Timothy took over. Timothy reached over and hugged Robert. "Thanks son. You have no idea what this means for me. I`ll buy some prepared foods and everyone is invited for supper after the work. Who knows, it might even be lamb stew made the evening before. It is going to be good to have Paul in the house again at Chritmas and of course, we`ll enjoy Sean as we always do. Paul has been really lucky with his guy." They enjoyed the meal and the time together. The week passed quickly and both were busy at work. As expected, Paul had phoned him and they would come over to the house in the early afternoon on Sunday and stay for supper. Paul was pleased that they had been asked, especially after they heard why they were needed. Robert had told him that Jeremy was a little reluctant to talk about his condition. Paul understood immediately that he should not mention it unless Jeremy explained his diagnosis. The guys came over on Saturday morning and moved all the boxes up to the living room. They had told his dads that they had some other things to do so they could not stay for lunch. On Sunday, they arrived about 15 minutes before Paul and Sean arrived. Paul and Sean`s arrival had both Jeremy and Timothy greeting them at the front door. Robert noticed the little grimace as his Dad stood up quickly. Robert didn`t say a thing. Paul was hugged as was Sean. It was Jeremy who looked at the guys intensely. "You two are looking great. You both are obviously working out. Sean, you are almost as filled out as Paul, looking good. You know we haven`t seen you for quite while. We`ll have to make certain in the New Year to have you over more often. It is always a pleasure to have you in our home." Sean spoke up. "Mr. Malenfant that would be great. I always feel welcome here and enjoy your company. Paul misses you a lot." Jeremy looked at them. "If you can make it, we would really like to have you over for some of Chistmas Eve. It would be like old times when the guys were here in University. I know that Anna and Michael will be over for an hour or so. It would be great to have you too. Please call us Jeremy and Timothy or Dad and Papa." Robert decided that they had work to do. "So do we put the furniture in the usual way?" Timothy looked at them. "We were thinking of making some seating closer to the fireplace and leaving the living room open behind it for people to move around. All the guys worked out and played hockey so they were all in good shape. It only took an hour and half to do the work that they had to do. Jeremy thanked them all for their help. He had realized as he watched the young men working that it had been a good idea of Robert`s. Jeremy didn`t want to admit it out loud but he knew that all that work would have stressed his body. In addition, he enjoyed having these fine young men in their home. He was really pleased when he saw how close Paul and Sean were. He had enjoyed Brett when he and Paul were together but he never really saw the same closeness that Paul and Sean now had in their own quiet way. Jeremy was so pleased that Paul and he had talked that summer after their third year in university. He had been told many times that it was the talk that straightened Paul out and then he met Sean. Timothy looked around the room. "Guys this looks really great. We have some drinks and some nibbles. Let`s sit and relax and then we can decorate the tree, our last job of the day. After they had sat and had their drinks, the guys bickered over where to put the decorations. It was fun and boisterous. Finally, the tree was declared finished. Jeremy and Timothy put the star on the top of the tree. They looked at each other and embraced. It was Robert who called out. "Dad kiss Papa. That is what I am going to do to my guy. All embraced their partner and kissed. Supper was fun as they talked about the last year and all that happened to each person and couple. Paul took them by surprise. "I have some important news. Sean and I are getting married. We told our parents last week." There was surprise and wonderful greetings of the news. Robert was curious. "How did Sean`s parents react?" Sean blew air of his mouth. "Sort of what we had expected. My mother was happy for me. My dad less so. We got the usual I don`t understand this. Why do you have to go to all the trouble to celebrate something that shouldn`t be celebrated. Not quite his words but close. He did say that he would attend. We are hoping that you would be free in mid to late April to be our best men." Lucas, "You don`t even have to ask. Of course we`ll be there with you. This is great news." Looks passed between Jeremy and Timothy. Jeremy spoke up. "Where are you going for you honeymoon? Have you decided?" "We thought that we might go to Montreal for a few days and then maybe to New York City." Timothy took over. "Have you considered going to Europe?" Paul sighed. "We checked on prices and with the airfare, it is just too expensive. We are thinking of buying a house." "What about Paris?" "Paris, great idea but just too expensive. Hotels are really expensive and so is the food." Robert knew his dads so well. He knew where this was leading. Timothy continued. "You probably are not aware of this but we own a unit in Paris in the 5th and I know for a fact that there are dates open in April. It would be our wedding present for you. In addition, you can buy food at local stores and eat in the apartment; it is fully equiped." Paul looked uncertain. "You can`t do that for us. You won`t get your rent for our stay. You would be out a lot of money." Jeremy looked at Paul and then Sean. "You guys are like sons to us. Frankly, we make enough to pay the taxes and upkeep and still bank a lot of money over the year. April is not that busy and our rents are a bit lower for that month. Please accept it. We would appreciate an answer fairly soon so that we can book you in for your choice of time. How about a week. You choose starting and ending days." Robert added, "Guys we use it a lot. We`ll be there for business for almost a week in January and then we are taking Thomas and Liam over in May for more than a week when we have more business meetings. Just say thank you to my dads and TAKE IT." Paul, "Never expected this. Thank you so much. Paris is it is almost like a dream come true. Can you go on your site now? We could pick the dates right now. We`ll arrange everthing around the dates in Paris." With in a few minutes the dates for the honeymoon were set as Paul and Sean had a tentative date for the wedding already in their minds. When it was over and booked, Sean looked over at the dads. "We can`t thank you enough for this. I just had an idea. Could you come over to our place in January to have dinner with my parents? You know my father has never met married gay couples. I think he would be surprised when he meets all of you." Looking at Jeremy and Timothy, "He`ll be shocked when finds out what you do and I think that he will be even more suprised when he finds out Robert and Lucas have accomplished since they graduated from university. It could be an interesting evening." He chuckled. Lucas told them about their plans for January, trips to Arizona and Paris. A date was set for dinner on the first Saturday in February because of Lucas and Robert`s travels. As they left, Paul and Sean confirmed that they would come over for a while on Christmas Eve. They couldn`t stop thanking the dads. Jeremy and Timothy couldn`t stop thanking them for all they had done that day. As Timothy said, it was a great day with all of them and they were so glad that they could share the apartment in Paris with Paul and Sean. The Christmas party at The Accountants was as good as usual. Of course, everyone at The Accountants knew that Robert and Lucas were married. So they made certain that the table for the forensic section was beside Robert`s staff`s table. They made certain that there were two seats at both tables so that Lucas and Robert could join the forensic group and Robert`s staff. They had a great time. It was obvious that Lucas had been accepted by all the members of his section and it was never in doubt that Robert was the head of his office. The dancing was great and Lucas and Robert managed to lose themselves in each other as the evening drew to an end. Earlier, Lucas had gone around to many of The Accountants` tables with Robert during the evening and chatted with the staff. Jeremy and Timothy watched it all and were so pleased to see how Lucas was approaching his position in February. Jeremy had been given a slot for his operation late in the first week of February which hopefully would mean that he could be back at work in early March. Luckily that did not conflict with dinner at Paul and Seans` apartment. As long there were no medical problems in January, the guys would be able to go to Arizona and Paris. They had done their shopping and gone over to the dads` home on December 23 and help set up the house for the next evening. They changed quickly after work on the 24th and went to the dads` place. By the time, the first people arrived, the place looked great, the food was out and the drinks ready to be served. Paul and Sean were the first to arrive and were ready to help with hosting the party. For Lucas and Robert, there were two other great moments, the arrival of Momma with Jamie and Philipo. Momma had brought her usual little bit of food. Jamie and Philipo were looking older but were still active and witty. He hugged Momma and took her to the food and drinks with Jamie and Philipo close behind. It was the second arrival of Anna and Michael that warmed the guys so much. Michael was hugged by both guys. It was Robert who stood in front of Anna. "You look radiant." He hugged her and held her tightly. "I assume everything is OK." Anna looked at him. "He is growing and is absolutely healthy." "A boy, I hope that is OK." "I ended up seeing some of the pictures and I`ll repeat that I just want a healthy child. Michael is overjoyed. I am certain that he wants a girl next time." He went over and hugged Michael. "I have heard the news. So will he be a wimpy soccer player or a manly hockey player?" "I don`t care as long as he is as bright as his mother and as manly as me." Even Michael chuckled at the manly comment. "We are so happy for you both. Come on let`s get something to eat and drink." Michael and Robert got caught up on what was going on at work. Michael was impressed with how the fall had gone for Robert and his company. Robert was impressed wtih Michael`s work as an engineer. Finally Michael looked at his watch. "We are expected back at Anna`s for Christmas Eve. Sorry we can`t stay longer. We have to leave tomorrow afternoon for my home and Boxing Day." "We are making a trip to Buffalo on Boxing Day. So we are leaving Lucas` home in the morning on Boxing Day to drive to Buffalo and then we drive back home the next day. The day after that we have our yearly hockey game with my friends from high school and a pub. We have an annual New Years with my high school friends and then some time alone on New Years Day. I see your look. Yes a crazy schedule." He got Lucas and they gave hugs and kisses to Anna and Michael. They regretted that they had to leave so soon. They spent some time with Paul and Sean and finally the two had to go to Sean`s home for Christmas Eve services at his parents` church. Sean muttered that he would probably get another lecture on how wrong he was living his life. At least they were accepting that Paul would be with them. Robert and Lucas suspected that was because of his mother. They spent time with Momma and then with Jamie and Philipo. The call came to go to church. They quickly put food away and made it in time to get `good seats` which Momma always wanted. They enjoyed the time after Mass at Robert`s Grandparents when all the families were together. The next day, they made it for breadfast at the Stephenson home and of course, went to church. Unlike their first time they had arrived, they enjoyed the day right from their arrival. Everyone had heard of their marriage and many people complimented them on it. Mrs. Stephenson now felt comfortable with them as a married couple. Buffalo was crazy busy for them. Supper out at a dance club where they danced their usual way, hot, with smiles and pats on the back from the people they had come to know. Robert and Lucas had done some research on Tucson, Arizona and they talked about some of things that they wanted to do. It looked as if their stay there would be exciting but not restful. They were going to drive to Buffalo and fly from there to Tucson with Thomas and Liam. Robert had already rented a car for the stay as did Thomas and Liam so that each could go their own ways on some days. After the disastrous first hockey game and pub with Robert's hockey buddies in their first year of university, they were accepted. Lucas had gained all their admiration for his defensive skills on ice and his great card playing. Everyone was amazed how good Robert was as a forward; his skating and puck handling were the best. Yet another New Years found them on the dance floor with a glass of bubbly, kissing. Lucas looked at Robert and reminded him of all the incredible things they had done that year: marriage, the success of Forensic+, the new office and Lucas position as head of the forensic department and about to become Jeremy`s interim replacement at The Accountants. Yes it had been a great year. They arrived back at their apartment. It was Lucas who put his arms around Robert after they had taken off boots and outer jackets. "Robbie, it has been quite a year. I can hardly believe what you and I have done this year. You know it was our wedding in Novemeber that really stands out for me. I felt then as if my life was complete. I, we could do almost anything and we did." Before Robert could talk, Lucas leaned over and pulled Robert close. He put his fingers on Roberts lips and shook his head no. Then he leaned over and kissed him. Lucas, "I know that you feel the same. No talk, just action, just you and me." It was intense from the first kiss. For Robert, Lucas had summed their year up in a few sentences. Who would have thought that they would be here like this, five years together. He had watched Lucas at the party that evening. He shone. He talked to the guys and to their girlfriends. He had won at cards, as usual. They had danced oblivious to anyone else in the room. Then the wonderful kiss again at 12. It was magical. They had a lot to be thankful for. Comments mailto:preecherdave@gmail.com If you liked this story, you might want to read the others that I have published on Nifty.
