"Robert ended by saying that I became important to the program as Forensic+ started to emerge. I think that I should correct that statement. I became crucial to the process from the start!" Robert frowned. "I have to interject here. You can't code or understand the computer languages that would be necessary for such a program. No coding, no Forensic+!" "Phff. You took a couple of classes in forensic accounting. I work real cases and I have worked with the best, Michael Burtchell, Jeremy Marchese-Milner and of course James Milner. No input from me, you have nothing to code." "Ah, I could have many people to fill your position. Look around you." He stopped and thrust out his arm and slowly pointed over the audience. "Most of this audience are forensic accountants." Sighing dramatically and rolling his eyes, "I could hire some really good computer experts." Mark had been given his cue. "Stop bickering! We have an audience who wants to hear what you have to offer. Geez my job depends on you." Together, "We aren't bickering." As they had hoped, there was chuckling in the room. Robert looked at Lucas. "OK, you have point. We are both necessary. Fifty, fifty?" Lucas with a look of triumph. "Much ... better." Robert smiled at Lucas and turned to the smiling crowd. The thought went through his mind; it looked as if they had the audience. They had established their bona fides in that little back and forth of bickering. Show time. He scanned the room. "We know that Forensic+ is going to have a major impact on forensic accounting! It has taken us four years but it works and we want to show why and how. Here is what Forensic+ does." On cue, the first image was flashed on the screen. Present They had done it. The presentation was almost over. Robert paused and looked at the audience. "That is Forensic+. I would like to close with something that surprised me. As I said earlier, we approached some firms to try our software for a month. I have leased it to four Canadian firms and one of those is a French speaking Quebec firm and three American firms. Part of the deal was that they would give us written evaluations. I have quoted several during our presentation. I would like to finish with an evaluation that surprised, me, Mr. Stephenson and my staff." This is the quote from the CEO of an American accounting firm. We have used Forensic+ for the month. We are now totally at a loss. As you told us, we can no longer access the product as the program did end as you said, 30 days after we activated it. It has totally changed our way of doing forensic accounting. It has increased our productivity. I have already indicated to you that we intend to buy licenses for every forensic accountant working at our firm. All our forensic accountants want it back. Please put us at the top of your list for downloads. I am certain that you have received our digital transfer of money. I cannot say enough about this incredible tool for our firm. You can give anyone who wishes it, my name and my firm's name as well. There was clapping from around the room. Robert held up his hands. "I have timed the presentation so that there are fifteen minutes for questions. I would appreciate it if you have to leave that you do so quietly while I deal with questions. One last thing, I am going to take just a minute to speak in French. I have gone through the registrations and I have noticed that there are a few French names of people and firms here from Quebec. I want to say something to them and it will only take a minute. In French, "This conference has a vast majority of delegates who are English speakers from Canada and the United States. I have this room for a half hour after the finish at 2:30. I could give more detailed answers and ideas in French if you could save your questions until after the English questions are dealt with. Both myself and Mr. Stephenson are bilingual." He scanned the audience. "Comments and questions." Michael Burtchell stood up. "I want to echo what that last evaluation said. I have a long connection with young men who do their CPA with me and then leave to work at The Accountants. First Jeremy Marchese-Milner and now Lucas Stephenson. Because of my connection with The Accountants, my firm was also given a copy. I too can only say that it is a game changer in our profession. It does everything that Mr. Malenfant and Mr. Stephenson say that it will do." There were some technical questions which Lucas handled precisely and concisely. Robert was about to end the English questions when a man at the back stood up. "Mr. Malenfant, I flew up from Arizona to see the men who created this program. I am the one who wrote the evaluation that you used as your last quote. Having worked with the program for a month, I am surprised by your age and Mr. Stephenson's but not surprised how you have faced us brilliantly with humour, poise and such clarity. You, Mr. Stephenson and Mr. Burtchell are correct. This program will change our profession." "Thank you yet again sir. I would like to talk to you later." "I shall now take questions in French. Eh maintenant, les questions en Francais." It was clear that the French speaking delegates were pleased to have this opportunity. Robert and Lucas were direct and answered the questions in detail. At one point, Robert had them laughing hilariously about language, dialects and problems with a French version of the program. Lucas had answered all the technical questions in excellent French. It was then that they were inundated by family, friends and colleagues. His Dad walked quickly to Robert. He was gripped him in a massive bear hug. "Son, your presentation was magnificent. I could see you growing in stature in the last months as you started up your firm. Today, amazing." Papa looked at him in total disbelief. "A business man has replaced my son. I heard some of what you said to the Quebec delegates. Incredible." He hugged him hard. Mr. and Mrs. Stephenson were having much the same conversation with Lucas. Mrs. Stephenson turned to Robert. "I have known for a long time how close you and Lucas are but today it was an incredible performance. His French was absolutely fluent. I see my son in such a different way now. Thank you for taking care of him." Robert was touched; he didn't know what to say. So he hugged her and thanked her for coming and sharing her reaction. Jamie came up to him. "You, young man, are something else. Philipo and I have watched you two grow as partners and now as business owners. I have seen very few presentation which could come close to your presentation with Lucas." He leaned and gave him a hug. "That is from Philipo and me." Philipo frowned. "Hold it! I want to tell my grandson what a great business man he has become as well as being such a loving grandson." The Marchese hug was very intense. Charles and Emile smiled at him. Charles shook his head. Looking at Robert and then Lucas. "We predicted that we would hear something special today. We saw a master class from you two. Congratulations." Each shook hands with them. Robert looked up and saw Mark and Phoebe dismantling their equipment. He spoke quickly to Lucas. They excused themselves. "Mark, Phoebe. You did a great job. Thank you. You got every cue and absolutely no glitches. Phoebe thanks for coming and helping Mark." With a twinkle in her eye, "The pleasure was all mine." She said it in a way that Mark blushed and smiled. Oh, he had fallen head over heels for her. A silent prayer from Robert, please don't let him get hurt another time. The room had emptied as other sessions were starting. However, the CEO who had spoken and given him such a good evaluation was siting quietly watching the greetings by his friends and family. Robert walked up to him. "Mr. Malenfant, you appear to be a very lucky man. I assume that those people are friends and family. It explains a lot about you and Lucas. Could we go somewhere and get a drink and talk? I assume that Lucas would join us." With some self mockery, "Sir, beneath my cool, composed self ...." He smiled, "There is a body that has sweated litres of sweat. I need a shower and fresh clothes. I think that Lucas is in the same state. How about the bar at 3:30?" They had just stepped in to their room when Lucas grabbed Robert. "You were amazing yet again." Robert interrupted. "Lucas, I couldn't have done it without you. I knew that we had them after our little bickering session but you were so detailed and knowledgeable when you did your section on how you used the program in an actual investigation. The slides of that case were so clear. You handled the French speaking delegates incredibly well." "I know that we say it too often but we really are a team. Your ending was icing on the cake." They kissed and the kiss told them that they would be doing more later. It felt so good to wash and change. As they were leaving the room, Robert looked at Lucas. "I'm not certain why this delegate wants to see us. He looked a bit reflective as if there was something on his mind. I guess we'll find out in a few minutes." The man raised his hand as they entered the bar. He stood as they approached the table and he looked at his watch. Smiling, "Are you always this punctual?" Lucas looked at Robert. "He drives me crazy. We have to be a bit early or to the second on time. Never late!" They all chuckled. "I am Ron Corbett, CEO and owner of Tucson Accounting and Forensic Services." Robert smiled. "I guess we don't have to introduce ourselves. It is a pleasure to meet you. And thank you again for your evaluation and remarks." They chatted about their journey through university and the evolution of Forensic+. After almost 5 -- 10 minutes of talk over the drinks which Ron had ordered and paid for, Ron looked at them. "Can I ask a rather personal question?" With a smile, Robert answered. "You can always ask and we can always refuse to answer. Go right ahead." That got another chuckle from Ron. "I should have known that you would be your answer. May I call you Robert and Lucas?" They nodded yes. "I watched you two very carefully. Robert, you referred to Lucas as your partner several times. Are you just business partners or are you more than that?" They looked at each other. Robert spoke. "That's not a difficult question. It is one thing that we never hide. We have been together since the fall of our first year at university and we were married last November. Is that important to you?" "Yes it is but not for the reason that you might guess." He paused and breathed deeply. "Seven years ago, I did something so stupid and something that I have come to regret so much. I was an idiot, stupid and hateful. I discovered that my son who was at university studying to become an accountant and a CPA was gay and in a relationship with a man. I had been attending an evangelical church near my home and the minister was constantly talking about the evils of same sex relationships. I fell for all the nonsense. I confronted my son. Well, we almost came to blows and I threw him out. I won't go into the reasons but I have come to regret and feel so ashamed of what I did. I saw you two men today: hockey players, brilliant in your line of work. I watched you and I was certain that you were like my son. My shame deepened especially when I saw you surrounded by family and friends, embraced and loved." "Ron, as a gay man, I have had a really easy life. I come from a very different background. I was adopted at birth by my Dad, Jeremy Marchese-Milner and Papa, Timothy Malenfant. They brought me up in a loving home but goal oriented. I had a steady girlfriend in my last year of high school. She was welcomed in our home." He chuckled. "And Anna and I were not celibate. We were going to universities hundreds of kilometres from each other and we broke up after the Prom. Then I met this guy. It took him and me a while but we finally embraced each other. In addition, my grandfather James Milner is married to Philip Marchese." Thinking, "By the way, I was best man at my ex girlfriends marriage and she and her husband are our best friends." "Oh my, that is quite a story. I saw Mr. Marchese-Milner hug you but I just assumed it was because you worked for him. Was that other man Mr. Malenfant?" Robert nodded yes. "I know that this will sound crazy but I would like to ask for your help." He paused collecting his thoughts. "I didn't even know where my son was living and if he was still with the same young man. I hired an investigator last year and I am certain that I have found where he lives, his firm and his email address. To this point, he has not answered my one mail message. I just want a chance to tell him how much I miss him and how deeply ashamed and sorry I am for what I did. I am certain that he has his own firm in Buffalo, New York. I was wondering if at some point, you could go there, see him and tell him how I feel. I would fly up in an instant or he could come to Tucson. I want to see him and meet his partner on their terms." "Ron, that is a very sad story. I trust that this is not just a story to make contact and go through all the rejection nonsense again." With a rather wan smile. "I should have known that you would have that reaction. I can only tell you that I am certain that I know his firm and his home address. I could fly up any time but I don't want to put him in distress or have a major confrontation again. I want his consent for me to see him. It is only fair to him." Lucas spoke up. "Ron, Robbie and I are a team. We have to discuss matters like this. We'll give you a decision probably tomorrow and certainly before the end of the conference. "How about we meet here tomorrow?" They looked at the time of the next days sessions and they came up with 4 in the afternoon at the bar. They talked for a while longer and left. They were meeting their families with Charles and Emile for supper in one of the best restaurants in Toronto. Both the guys enjoyed the camaraderie at the restaurant. At one point, Mrs. Stephenson asked why the French speaking group laughed so hard during their session with them. Lucas cleared his throat and looked at Robbie with grin on his face. "We were asked when a French version would be available and were there any problems with it. Robbie explained it was a question of language. He explained that quite a few words were used differently in Quebec and France. What made them laugh was his use, first of school yard French, then a more pure elevated Canadian French and finally, he did a masterful job of speaking with a Parisian accent. Then he went on to give examples of some of the different words used in forensic accounting in Canada an in France. They were impressed." At that point, Robert interrupted and started to speak in a series of accents from the school yard through to Parisian French. All the French speaking friends and family almost doubled over in laughter. Emile remembered yet again that day when they had met this bright, bossy young man whom they had met at the Technology Department BBQ at their home at the end of Robert and Lucas' first year at university. (Unexpected Robert 24) He and Charles had realized even then that Robert and Lucas were students to watch and nurture. They hadn't even been close. Their achievement that afternoon at the conference had been even more than they had ever imagined. It was Jeremy who looked at the two as they were finishing dessert and coffee. "I know how our guys must be feeling. Exhilarated and tired as hell. I think that it is time to leave. He lifted his glass up. "To our two entrepreneurs. Magnificently done." They didn't do it too often in public but both of them put their arms around the other and pulled themselves close. They were quite a bit more demonstrative when they entered their room. Lucas scanned his guy. "You looked so fucking hot in those pant, shirt and that jacket. Good enough to eat. Robbie, I know the hours that you put into that presentation." He put his fingers over Robert's lips to stop his response. "Yes I see your look and yes, I did put a couple of hours in myself. You pulled it together and gave it life." Lucas pulled him tightly to himself and kissed him. The kiss became deeper and more sensuous. The jackets came off. The shirts fell to the ground. The pants and boxers joined them. Lucas kissed him again and wrapped his hand around a very hard object. Robert moaned. "Dad said that we were tired as hell. That may have been code words that we wanted to lose ourselves in each other." "Your Dad is a very wise man." And they did lose themselves in each other. It was intimate and passionate. They were at breakfast the next morning when Lucas took a big gulp of coffee and started to smile. You know, I don't think that Ron is making that story up." "Great minds think alike." "You know that Buffalo is only a few hundred kilometres away. We never did get that motel room and have dirty, wild weekend which we promised each other at that game we played at Anna's university in our first year." "You really do have a dirty mind for such detail." "Is that a complaint or do I see a little glimmer of hope?" "After last night, an expectant glimmer for sure." "We have our passports. We could take a Friday off and slip over the border and make an appointment with Thomas Corbett. I am a forensic accountant and we do have a new product. If he throws us out, I am sure that there are some good restaurants in Buffalo." Lucas raised his eyebrows. "I think then we could come back to the motel and .... Actually we'll do that even if he wants to talk. Just different timing." "Lucas, you have such a wonderfully dirty mind. Let's do it. We might not tell Ron all the details." They went to different sessions that morning and Robert took over their table for the afternoon and sent Mark and Phoebe off for the rest of the day. Lucas had some more sessions that he wanted to attend. Robert was surprised by the number of sales they had made and the interest that many others had shown. They were solvent, for a while. While he was at the table a member of the organizing committee came up to him and asked him if they would repeat their presentation again early on Sunday morning as there had been a number of delegates who now wanted the introduction to Forensic+. Word about the program was circulating around the conference. Robert made the decision on the spot. YES! When he told Lucas just before their meeting with Ron, he too was excited. Lucas phoned Mark who said that was great news and that he would run the slide show and technical work as Phoebe had made arrangements to meet friends in Toronto. Ron was sitting at a table with a glass of beer. "I attended some really interesting sessions today. I am really glad that I came." They chatted about the sessions that they had seen and finally it was Lucas who looked at Robert and then Ron. "We have discussed it and we want to help. We are going to take some time away from work in a week or two. We both feel that we need to get away and leave everything behind us." "I'm certain that Buffalo would not be your first choice." "Destination doesn't matter. We just want some time away, alone." "I'll be honest. I was really hoping that you would do this for me. I have all the information that my researcher found. Of course, you decide how to do it." Robert spoke up. "We have some ideas that might at least get us in the door." "I figured that you would. By the way, he may ask about his mother. She left me about year after Thomas left; a good part of her reason for leaving was how I treated Thomas. We stayed in contact. She was diagnosed with cancer two years later and I did support her especially through that time of treatments. I was with her the day she died. We had reconciled by that time. She really was important to me. I lost a lot when I sent my son away." He paused. "On that note, I want to pay for your trip to Buffalo." Lucas interjected. "We have talked about that. You have done a lot for us. We are taking some time away and it will be our treat to each other." With a very definite voice, "No, there will be no payment. This is our gift to you and ourselves. We only hope that we can help." "I don't know what to say." Lucas started to laugh. "Usually when Robbie hears that phrase, he says `if you don't know what to say, say yes'." There was a pause. "Yes and thank you so much. Could I sit with you and your family at the final dinner tonight?" "We'll fit you in. Don't be too shocked. We will be dancing together after the meal." "That will be a first for me. Your dads?" Lucas interrupted. "Oh, they can dance. Our university friends, Charles and Emile will be out there as well. Probably our grandparents as well. You are in for an interesting experience. At least my father and mother will be at the table and dancing." After leaving Ron, they went to the organizers of the dinner and made certain that they would set enough places. Robert used his Dad's name and Michael Burtchell's. He realized that it wasn't necessary; they had treated him with great respect. The dinner was fun. He noticed Ron in deep conversation with Michael Burtchell. His husband Steven Bourgeois had had to miss the conference; he had a bad case of the flu. The atmosphere was just right. The after dinner speaker was a comedian who made outrageously funny jokes about accountants and forensic accounting. Finally, the tables were moved and a dance floor set up. The music started. The DJ started with some fast swing numbers and then some latin beats. The guys had taken lessons and they could pick up a beat. They had a blast. Finally, the music turned slow and dreamy. They almost fell into each others arms. Lucas felt Robert's head on his shoulder. Lucas loved the closeness that the two had. They danced closer together. They lost themselves in the music, the rhythm and each other. At the end of the slow pieces, Robert leaned back and smiled at Lucas. "We have been on the go since early this morning and I know that we both burned a lot of energy on our presentation. We have to do it again tomorrow. Let's go." Lucas smiled back. "I can feel that hard object poking my equally hard object. You just want to have your way with me." "Yep!" They were still chuckling as they went back to the table with arms around each other. They said goodnight to all. Both his dads had a knowing smile. Robert could have cared less. Ron just watched them with an inscrutable look on his face. Tired as they were, they both managed to have their way with the other. The fell asleep, sated and happy beyond words. The presentation the next morning was as good as the previous day. The word had spread and they spoke to another full room. They explained in detail how they could purchase the program online. Mark worked the table until 12 noon and closed it down. They stored their material with the computer and other equipment in a locked room as they had signed out of their rooms. They decided to drive home immediately after a quick lunch in the small cafe in the hotel. They were with their dads, the Stephensons and Ron Corbett. They told Ron that they were planning to go to Buffalo on Friday in two weeks. They gave him the date. They said their goodbyes to the Stephensons. Robert commented on the lovely outfit that Lucas' mother was wearing. She smiled and said that she had done some shopping in Toronto on Saturday. She actually looked a bit shy but pleased by the compliment. As they were leaving the cafe, Ron stopped and looked at the guys. "Thank you so much. Even if it doesn't work, I'll feel that I tried. I really hope that he will respond. I miss him. I watched you two last night on the dance floor. I realized how two men can feel so deeply for each other. I hope that he has been as lucky. Then I have seen how you are as a family, both your dads and Lucas' parents." He looked so hopeful and didn't seem to know what to say next. Finally, "Safe drive home." "Ron, we'll do our best." Ron spoke up. I almost forgot to ask. "Are you attending the conference in Saint Louis later this year?" "Yes, we are presenting there as well. Are you going? If we can help with your son, maybe he can attend." "I'll pay all his expenses if he can't manage it himself. That would be a dream come true." They drove home and the trip seemed shorter. The talked and talked about all the experiences that they had had and suddenly they were off the autoroute and were pulling into their parking spot at their offices. They took the all the expensive computers and projector up along with the handouts to Robert's office and then headed home. It was with a sigh of relief that they entered their apartment. They took their suitcases down to their bedroom. Lucas looked at his guy. "I need a shower. Want to join me?" He gave Robert a look. "No nonsense, you know that we are invited back to Jamie and Philipo's for supper." "Ah, we have time for nonsense." Robert wiggled his eyebrows. "If I get started and finish, we'll both fall asleep and miss the granddads. Knowing them, they will know exactly why." "You know that makes me think of Thomas Corbett. We have a whole family to back us up and love us. I hope that we can change that for him. And yes, I want to shower with you. I love it when you wash me but OK, no nonsense." The shower was a great way to unwind after the presentation that morning and the drive home. There was a lot of touching and both guys were very hard by the time they turned off the shower. Lucas leaned in and kissed Robert. "Your dream, our dream, has become real. You were incredible again today. Now to Jamie and Philipo's." They should have guessed. They could smell something delicious was cooking in the kitchen. They walked into the living room filled with everyone. The dads, Momma, Tony and family and the Malenfant clan. It was an exuberant celebration of their success. As he looked over the room, Robert became determined that he would try his hardest to get the Corbett family back together. He couldn't image his life without the support of all their families. They were finally back at their apartment. Lucas pulled Robert over to a couch and they sat holding each other. Lucas looked at his guy. "It has been a whirlwind. You're so right; we have the backing of all of our family. Yes, we worked on Forensic+ for several years but there was never a negative comment. It was always encouraging and helpful. I can't get over how my mother has become so close." Lucas smiled. "I even think that she likes you." They both laughed as Robert shook his head yes. "We have friends scattered over Ontario and Paris along with our families and best of all, I have you." There were moisture in Lucas' eyes. Robert pulled him close as they walked to their bedroom. They undressed each other. Robert moved back and scanned the body of his husband. "You are still as fit as the guy I met in August of our first year. I remember that night I forced you to go to the pub with the hockey team. I danced; you drank. I herded you home and undressed you. I remember thinking how big and well built you were and I remember thinking, big in all departments. Maybe that was the start of my journey. God I love your body. I know that we are tired but ... make love to me." Now it was Robert who had wet eyes. Lucas grabbed him and gently had him lie down on the bed. Lucas spread Robert's legs and climbed between them. "I have always said that you may be smaller but your body is perfection." He leaned down and kissed him gently. The kiss was intimate and loving. Robert's hands were all over Lucas back and then over his chest. He loved pinching Lucas' nipples. Seconds later, Robert knew exactly what Lucas was feeling as Lucas leaned over and sucked and then bit his right nipple. There were moans of pleasure from both men. Lucas had the lube in his hands. He put a lot in his hand and reached behind him and put it on Robert's very hard cock. Robert looked at him. "I thought that ...." Lucas looking at him smiling, "All in good time." In very quick time, Robert was at Lucas' entrance and Lucas sat on him. Lucas closed his eyes as the invader went totally into him without stopping. Lucas looked as if he was feeling total pleasure. Lucas started to move up and down. Robert looked as if couldn't believe the pleasure that he himself was getting. After several minutes, Lucas moved up and off of Robert. Lucas grabbed the lube and spread it in on himself. He moved fast and he was at Robert's opening and entered him and went all the way in also without stopping. Robert gasped in pleasure. Robert often didn't say much but tonight, he spoke intensely "Fuck, fuck. I needed you so badly." His arms were around Lucas and he pulled Lucas to himself and kissed him hard, biting his lip and forcing his tongue into Lucas mouth. The kiss was smouldering as neither could get enough of the other. Robert started to use his hand on his almost purple cock; with Lucas in him, it felt amazing. He felt Lucas moving faster and faster until his he felt Lucas ram into him and stop. Robert gripped himself hard and moved faster until he could feel his climax hit him. The first shot hit his cheek. He felt Lucas start to move to his own climactic rhythm. Still in him, Lucas moved them sideways so that they were still connected but on their sides. When their breathing came under control, Robert turned his head and kissed Lucas a final time. As Robert drifted off, he thought `this was another amazing memory to store away'.
