Comments are welcome and appreciated at jacoblion@tutanota.com This is my first attempt at writing a story. A Neglected Boy (part 1) It was a warm spring Saturday in north western Massachusetts. April can be either warm or snowy but today was sunny and warm. I was just starting to work my young horse when I spotted a young boy hanging on the fence. Finley my two year old stallion was full of it after the long winter and wanted to have more fun than work. As Finley jumped and kicked I noticed the boy was gone ... What . . . no he wasn't he had moved closer to me about only fifteen feet to my right. I first noticed that curly blond hair you know kind of messy but cute. I smiled at him and gave a quick wave and he smiled and gave me thumbs up. I guess he approved of my training methods. The workout continued another forty minutes and in that time the boy had moved closer to me. I think he was about eight feet to my left and I could see he was about 11 or 12 and a really cute kid. I finished working Finley and started to walk to the barn when I noticed I had company. Finley now in his stall I walked to the door to find my little friend watching every move I made. Hi, I noticed you watching me work Finley my horse do you like horses? I asked. He replied . . . "yep ... someday I would like to have a horse like yours he is so beautiful" I said . . . well our town is perfect for horses and I bet you will have your own someday. I'm Jake what is your name? He answered "my name is Kori it's spelled K o r i not Cory" Wow that's a great name. How old are you Kori 12 I bet and you sure have some curly hair there. It's really nice looks great on you. With a huge smile Kori said "Thanks and I am 11 almost 12 my birthday is in June. Is it ok for me to watch you when you work Finley? It sure was fun to see him when he was bucking and jumping. Can I call you Jake or Mr. Jake and is it ok for me to like hang around and is there anything I can help you with and is it ok for me to give Finley an apple" . . . (all that in one breath and an excited voice.) Hey Kori, slow down take a breath, you're a little wound up. You can just call me Jake and yes you can watch me work Finley anytime and yes if is ok for you to give Finley an apple and hang around .... If it is Ok with your rents ... got it? Kori looked at me with a sad face and a tear rolling down his face . . . I said Kori what's going on bud? Jake I'm sorry I don't know who my dad is. My mother doesn't really want me. She doesn't care where I am as long as I am out of the house when she has her boyfriends over. She tells me get lost and don't come home till dark. It has been that way for a long time. Jake, I know you from school I know you are one of the teachers and I knew you lived down the road from me. I was just trying to get away from the house today and I saw you working your horse. Thanks for letting me watch and talking to me it was fun, I won't bother any more I can't get permission to come watch you or hang around. She just doesn't care. Kori . . . stop, come here my little friend you need a hug. As I was giving Kori a hug and trying to make him feel better the tears and sobs continued. This was not the first time I had heard a story like this. As I hugged Kori I could feel how thin he was and I knew then I had to try to make a difference in his life. I got Kori to take a deep breath and settled him down a bit. Hey Kori are you hungry? How about some pizza or fried chicken wings or perhaps some well cooked liver and onions? Kori looked at me and said "liver and onions? Are you crazy? That's sick, but pizza sound great! With everything, please. Ok little man pizza it is . . . with everything. After pizza and two large glasses of milk it was almost three in the afternoon so I suggested a movie. Kori asked if I had some action movies but all I had was Raiders of something so that is what we watched. Kori sat on the floor in front of the couch for all of about 5 minutes then asked if he could sit next to me. Yes Kori if you want and in a flash he was next to me. Little by little closer and closer till I could feel the warmth of his little body next to mine. About ten minutes later I asked if he liked the movie only to find that he was fast asleep. For the next two hours I half watched the movie and continued to watch this cute boy as he slept cuddled next to me. The movie ended and it was getting dark fast. I had to wake my little friend to get him ready to go home. He looked at me with those deep blue eyes and asked if he had to go. I explained that it would be best this time to go home so he would not get in trouble. Then I assured him that he would be welcome in my house anytime and that he had a place he could go so to be safe. As Kori was getting up from the couch I noticed the front of his sweatpants tenting. He was trying to adjust without even trying to hide the obvious. I made a quick peanut butter & jelly sandwich and gave him a banana to eat. I know at least he won't be hungry tonight. Kori ran to me jumped into my arms and gave me a huge hug. As he was wrapped tightly around my neck I could feel his erection as it poked me in the stomach. He grabbed his sack and walked out the door with tears running down his face. I could not hold back my tears as he walked slowly up the gravel road toward his house. I did not see Kori Sunday and wondered if he was alright. In school on Monday I started to check about this boy that has become so important to me. It appears that he has missed a few days of school. It has also been noted that on several occasions he came to school with some bruising. This information fits with the story Kori told me about is home life. Part 2 soon.
