One look at either Peter or Liam with those big smiles and you know the sun is shining today. I had Peter half up on me tracing his finger around my eyes and Liam tracing his finger around my ear and down my face and both of them giggling, again. I turned quick to face Jonah only to hear Liam as he hit the floor. "Sorry Liam I forgot you were on the edge of the bed." Liam picked himself up through the laughter of everyone else and began to attack me. I turned back quick to face Peter and knocked him off the bed and morning turned into a three ring circus. There were showers to take and breakfast to be fixed and we needed to get a move on. I turned to say good morning to Jonah and realized we were both excited to greet the day, "you do know what I mean?" I think Jonah wanted to get things going, no, no not me and him, the boys to get showered and dressed but the boys were in a playful mood; me too. Finally Simon took charge and we were going in the right direction. I think. Showers over and me and Jonah were the last to arrive in the kitchen. Wowww Kori had enlisted the help of Simon, Peter and Liam and Sunday breakfast looked like a buffet. We sat for breakfast and I was slightly embarrassed as Liam and Kori had cleaned their plates and Peter, Jonah, and Simon were politely finishing. Now it appears Liam has settled right in and is at home as he said . . . "Well if no one wants that last piece of toast I'll have it with more jam . . . Please" If anyone did want it they were out of luck . . . Liam already had a bite out of it. Anyone remember me talking about T-Rex? I will say the tea was noticeably stronger this morning and had a delicious flavor, must be the water got to taste the tea today. Jonah had some idea that he and Simon were going to wash the dishes; unfortunately they were wrong as Kori was at the sink first. Jonah had us moving a little faster to some song he was singing and I know he wanted us out the door and on the way to church. Now mind you Jonah has been telling me about the 5 or so carols we will be singing. As a Baptist I tried to assure him I knew all the carols and was in junior choir as a kid in Newport. We got to church and it was a little on formal side. I was enjoying the service and the singing that is till we got to "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear". I had no idea what tune this was and Kori was kicking my shoe and Liam was pulling on my hand and giving me funny looks. Church was over and I really enjoyed the service. Now after church here it's done right. There were homemade pies and fruit cake not some crummy store bought junk they serve at home. I bet Kori and Liam would go to church more often here, well I know Liam would. The boys were simply enjoying all the attention. Jonah and I had to laugh at Kori and Liam trying to speak with a bit of an English accent. We were about to leave and make our way "eventually" to the London Eye when some nice grandmother type gave Kori and Liam a kiss. OMG! Akkk! Kori turned purple and I thought Liam was going to cry. He wanted to wipe it off so bad but was trying to be polite at the same time. The lady looked at me and said . . . "Oh dear I do think I embarrassed him he's all shades of pink." Jonah had to turn away to hide his laughing. Peter took Liam's hand and said . . . "Liam it's Ok it happens all the time." Immediately we were off and Simon was trying to wipe the red lipstick mark off Liam's cheek. The expression on Liam's face was worth a million bucks. We made our way and with ticket in hand we stepped into one of the capsules. This wheel moves very slowly and as we were going up the boys were . . . "look at that, Wowww what's that Jonah?" they were non-stop question after question. I think Jonah was having a great time as he described all the sights in detail. There was the Spires of St. Pancras and the Telecom tower and . . . . Kori and Liam had never seen anything like this. It was if the boys were on a sugar high. We walked to the Waterloo Station and then it became Simon's territory. Well not quite Peter is right in there just like when Liam and Kori get interested in something. Like Grand Central in New York this place is massive. Waterloo is the largest station in the world and Simon was giving the tour until Peter took over and described the 21 platforms. Now Kori and Liam have surrounded Simon, and Peter and are sucking all this info in. From my point of view Simon and Peter are not only handsome kids but brilliant as well. The only negative thing about this educational tour is that now Kori and Liam want a train set. We stopped at Burger King for a quick bite and then it was off to a Matinee performance of `A Christmas Carol'. This play by Charles Dickens has been a favorite of mine for ever. It was a walk back to Jonah's flat and on the way back we stopped at this special bakery and we bought at real English Shepherd's pie and a glazed fruitcake. The pie was amazing made with ground lamb, the vegetables were peas and diced carrots tomato and the gravy was awesome and the potatoes piled a mile high. Jonah made a special Christmas tea that was the perfect ending for a dinner made for King Wenceslas. This was I think the coldest night so far and we all snuggled on the couch and watched the TV. I had Peter and Liam up close and they were both snuggling tight and I watched as their eyes began to look heavy. In minutes they were asleep and I'm sure they were in dreamland with Tinkerbelle and friends. Their bright eyes closed and their faces were of angles from heaven. I looked over at Jonah his head slightly bent with Kori and Simon gently rubbing his chest. Jonah had come to terms with the day and the day won; he was fast asleep. The boys looked at me and smiled as if they knew Jonah had given his all to make this day so special and they were protecting him from any evil. It is so very obvious how much the boys love him, not just Peter and Simon but Kori and Liam too. We made it an early night as we all knew we were facing another long day tomorrow. We didn't try to go to separate beds. It was six in the big bed and with the cold trying to surround us we cuddled close. The darkness found its way into the room and with a miserable chill that dove beneath the skin and attacked every bone in our bodies. We clung to each other for warmth. As Jonah was wrapped around Simon and Kori I was attached to Liam and Peter and had pulled the covers up over our heads. I kissed the boys and brushed the hair from their eyes as they their breathing slowed and sleep overcame them. Morning; I was still wrapped around Peter and Liam as morning broke with the sound of a hammer striking an anvil. It was the sound of Kori screaming "Breakfast in half an hour" I'm beginning to think he had been a drill sergeant in a prior life. I heard Liam quietly say . . . "Jake you need to have a talk with Kori." Then Peter laughed and said . . . "Yep he's a little bossy at times!" Showers over, and The Kori Breakfast Special consumed with smiles, it was hat, coat, and out the door. We passed a man sleeping on the street and I saw Jonah explaining to Liam. For Liam it hit hard, homeless, no one to be with him, his clothes dirty and Liam was having a flash back. He looked at me and I could see the tears. I immediately knew his thoughts. Unwanted, broken bruised and beaten left to the cold. My heart ached for both this stranger and my boy. We arrived at a spot that turned Liam and Kori into pure joy. Simon was showing Kori and Liam the sign for platform nine and three-quarters-the departure platform for the Hogwarts Express. The boys were thrilled and said they can't wait to tell their friends back home. We arrived at Kings College and it was nothing like on TV. You can try to describe the beauty of the mountains but it never is the same as seeing them in person. The boys and I stood there and were in awe. When the service began with this young boy singing "Once in Royal David's City" the tears began and it was as if his voice had touched my soul, reached within me and made me realize "I am not alone." (Link to Once in Royal David's City , Kings College) "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHLy6bu955M The service and music in this great hall becomes quite emotional. I saw Kori wiping tears. I wonder what he and Liam, Simon and Peter were thinking. We now needed to get a move on and of course we had a slight rain mixed with snow. ................ To Be Continued ...............
