The windows were bright white with frosted glass and the sun shone on them giving them the appearance of stained glass windows of some great cathedral. It wasn't the beauty of the windows that had my attention it was that miserable chill that was biting at my face and neck. Jonah wanted to get up and I wanted not to. I would rather remain feeling the warmth of Liam and Peter as they cuddled and wrapped themselves around me. It was Christmas morning and the words of the song "Morning has Broken" played as a choir in my head. "Morning has broken like the first morning, Blackbird has spoken like the first bird, Praise for the singing, Praise for the morning, Praise for them springing fresh from the world" Jonah won! We woke the boys, well Jonah woke the boys, and Kori started the day being a little cheeky with a whistle and I shot him a look that said . . . "you wanna see tomorrow?" He just smiled. I had to laugh at Simon's reply to Merry Christmas ...... it was the typical 13 year old reply as if Ok I'll say Merry Christmas if you'll just let me sleep. It was showers and dress for church then breakfast. Kori whipped down the stairs and in the kitchen . . . . stopped dead in his tracks when he saw Joe at his stove already making breakfast. Kori words were polite but his looks were to the contrary. Joe was making breakfast in Kori's kitchen. The boy was not happy. Kori's frown turned to a smile when he tasted Joe's cooking. Breakfast having been consumed in record time the boys wanted to see the baby. There is no way to describe the gentle loving look as each boy held newborn Jacob. Simon who always appears typical 13 held Jacob and his face was shining and loving. It then was Liam's turn. It wasn't just the picture of Liam's face it was his body language the way he looked at little Jacob with love and tenderness the tear in his eye. Something was there and it was very special. We were off to church and Jonah had a word with the pastor and it circled through the congregation quickly that there was a new baby and mother in need. Church service was amazing and the warmth of all who were there could be felt in the singing the shaking of hands and Christmas greetings. Liam spotted a certain lady and hid behind me or Kori. It did no good. On the way out of church Peter, Kori and Liam collected a number of kisses. Simon knew what was coming and was long gone to the curb waiting for us to catch up. An elderly lady, Monica, walked home with us to see to the baby and mothers health. It was obvious that her legs didn't match her age as we tried to keep up with her. Joe had made a Christmas Dinner fit for a King. The aroma was intoxicating and we all enjoyed the love of friends as we ate. Everything was just so perfect. We opened presents and it was the most fun to watch the boys. Simon was so excited with the drone and we did eventually get to see it fly carefully in the living room. Peter and Simon promised to stay in touch with Liam and Kori with their new Flex 11. There was a knock at the door and a number of church ladies came in with bundles and boxes of cloths and things for Miriam and the baby. Liam spotted three of the most dangerous ladies and hid behind the chair. He had a difficult time getting the lipstick off after church even with Simon and Kori helping. Peter still had some nice red spots on his cheeks. June explained the responsibilities of the parents and Godparent and I became Godfather to little Jacob. There were smiles, hugs and kisses, yes kisses and now Liam was happy as I had about 5 red lipstick marks on my cheeks. The ladies all departed and there was a call from Ian and then the Queens Christmas address to the nation. We had a little laugh when I had my arm around Jonah and Simon said . . . . "Geeez you two get a room will ya" or something like that. It was what Monica said that brought an unexpected smile. The afternoon had passed and Jonah and Joe walked Monica home and I and the boys watched TV, Ha! . . . we really played with the drone but I had to make sure Simon kept it under control. We had fun and it was in the box when Jonah and Joe returned. We were all cuddled up watching some program, who knows what it was; Liam and Peter the little brats were giggling. "Hey . . . you out there reading this don't be ratting on us." Jonah will never know. We would have an early morning breakfast then head to the airport. So it was up to bed and we shall remember this adventure for a million years. The morning was much the same with frost etching beautiful designs on the window panes. According to Jonah this is Boxing Day. From my point it seems we have had Boxing Day every day at least that is how my body feels after walking nearly 500 miles all over London. How the kids aren't tired is more than I can understand. This morning like the other mornings trying to figure out who is where in the bed is beyond me. The bed is a mess of heads and feet this way and that. I never know what foot this is that is trying work its way under my arm to stay warm. So much for warm as Kori hit the floor and sounded like that drill sergeant again. There was no sleeping now. Breakfast was in record time and we were in the taxi and at Heathrow in plenty of time for our flight. We said goodbye, well it was more like this. We hugged and kissed goodbye and then we kissed and hugged goodbye. There were a few tears and we shook hands and hugged and kissed goodbye one more time. A visit to Jonah, Simon, and Peter had become a visit to family we never knew we had. We waved to Jonah and the boys and Kori and Liam looked so very sad. I knew as we headed to our gate for boarding that this was just "see ya" not goodbye. We were seated and Liam was on the window side of me and Kori had the aisle seat. Kori looked at me and said . . . "Jake remember as we were at the door leaving and Liam had to go pee?" I said "yes" "Well Liam didn't have to go pee he ran to Jonah's bedroom and put a box of tea on his bed with instructions for how to make great tea and signed by me, Love ya, Kori" I had to laugh and can only imagine the surprise when Jonah gets it. The flight home was much quicker only a little over 6 hours as were rerouted directly to Boston. The flight was smooth almost all the way and the boys enjoyed the movies when they were awake. Every so often Kori would give me a hug and Liam would take my hand or punch my arm sweetly and give me one of those smiles showing the big bright white teeth. About an hour into the flight Liam was leaning on me and he was sound asleep. I turned to Kori to ask what he had decided for lunch on the flight but Kori was sound asleep. I awoke just in time to have lunch and shook the boys. Ham and cheese for all and double the snacks and I let them have soda. We were over the ocean and had only about 45 minutes remaining. The captain came on and told us there was turbulent ahead and to buckle and put trays up and remain seated. The plane began to bounce and it was like being on a roller-coaster a few times when we felt the plane drop a 1,000 feet. At one point the nose of the plane dipped sharply and a service cart slid down the aisle. Things smoothed and we had leveled off and the captain announced it appears we have passed the storm but asked to keep buckled. Everyone relaxed but Kori and Liam were gripping me so tightly that I knew I would have finger marks on my arms when we got home. Thank goodness we were on our final decent into Boston. It was raining with a snow mix. There was a sudden flash of lightning and the plane took a sharp turn to the right and there was an apparent loss of control as we entered into a steep nosedive .............................
