Thanks to all Nifty Staff for their help. http://donate.nifty.org/donate.html Story is fiction, names fabricated, locations accurate. There may be some sex; it will be gentle and loving. Just a reminder that the story is told by either Jake or Kori in alternating Chapters. A Neglected Boy "The Twins LI" jacoblion@tutanota.com Kori was driving I was riding shotgun and Ethan was in the back trying to keep his now rug-rat brat brothers under control as they were waving the "Free" Pizza coupons and Movie passes the judge had poked in their pockets. Well, it was noon and I think 2 large pizzas will help quiet some mouths. Kori and I reminded the 3 boys in the back that we needed to be home by 2 pm when Keith would be stopping by for us to help him move into his dorm room. Ethan didn't hear a word I was saying because he was now occupied with text messages; Kori and I had no idea who he would be texting ... Ha! We arrived at Zeneli Pizzeria, Kori looked at me and I think we both had the same idea, and that was, this place is owned by the Judge. We handed the young boy our "Special Coupons" and ordered one everything and one cheese and pepperoni. The boy, with a beautiful smile, looking back to the lady at the counter, who I am sure was his mom, .... hollered out, "Grandfather Special, 1, pepperoni and 1, everything; n Momma make it extra cheese, they're really cute. Needless to say, our sweet little cherubs were giggling and all smiles but Kori and I think this boy of about 14 gave Ethan a second and third look as he handed out plates, napkins, in the form of a roll of paper towels, and glasses. Ethan smiled and said "Thank you"; damn if it wasn't that smile of Ethan's that said a little more than just thanks for the plate and napkins. Kori looked at me and winked as we noticed that although the place was rather busy the waiter boy looked at Ethan and our table more attentively than the other tables. Perhaps it was because Justin and Kyle are so cute. Sure it was, right? Nah, this kid could hardly take his eyes off Ethan. As the tables around us were getting their pizza we did notice Ethan took a good look at the waiter boy several times with a nice, warm and rather inviting smile, you might say. Now this dark-haired Italian boy never missed a single opportunity to return the smile. Our pizza was delivered with a smile, our glasses were refilled and as we each had a slice of pizza on our plate, Antonio as we found out was his name, grated fresh Parmigiano Reggiano cheese on each slice; Ethan seemed to get a few more grinds of the cheese mill than the rest of us. Lunch was just about finished and Justin and Kyle had just a few more bites when Ethan excused himself and headed for the restroom. Kori gently kicked my foot under the table and glanced toward the restroom as we noticed Antonio must have needed to take a pee at the same time as Ethan. Now that's interesting, isn't it? Ethan returned to the table shortly with a smile and Antonio returned to delivering pizzas to customers. I hope he washed his hands. As Antonio was clearing the table, I noticed him slip a piece of paper or business card discreetly to Ethan along with a very cute smile. Kori handed Ethan the keys to the SUV as we walked out the door with the rug-rats saying . . . . "Hey teen driver no text now! Keep eyes on road hands on wheel." . . . . Ethan looked at his brothers and said . . . . "Ok, boss men but you guys sit in back and no talk loud is much distracting." . . . . we were all laughing at the way they were talking. Mafia. We were home not more than 20 minutes when there was a knock at the door followed by 3 boys racing to see who could open the door first. Kyle opened the door and in a flying leap Justin had his arms wrapped around Keith's neck and legs around his waist saying . . . . "I miss you so much." ...... Keith put Justin down and gave the rug-rats a pack each of Korean seaweed snacks, Kori and I think it's disgusting, rug-rats love it and Ethan nearly puked when he tried it. Ahhhh, Keith is so smart, and now the rug-rats were quiet as they tore open those seaweed snacks that smell like dead fish snot. We would all run over to Durfee Hall and help Keith move his things to his room making the job much quicker with 6 of us; or would it? Ethan and Keith talking continuously; not paying much attention to what needed to be done, and then there are the amazing "twins" to keep track of. Of course, Kori would be giving a running lecture about the old parts of the campus making sure that we're paying attention as if there would be a quiz later in the afternoon. We all loaded up in the SUV and noticed that Keith's car was packed to the roof. It became very obvious that Keith was not only moving into the dorm for the semester but for the rest of his life as he had "everything" he owned. Fortunately, we were able to help as his dad was working. Our cars were parked in the only available assigned space for visitors and it is quite a hike to his dorm. It was just before 5pm when we finished dragging all Keith's belongings to his room. What words did Kori and I hear? ... "We're hungry, I'm starved, can we go to the dining hall?" that was Ethan, Keith, and the rug-rats. Kori and I had to agree, I was starved as well but No! for the dining hall. I made the decision it would be the Great Wall of China. When I mentioned that everyone especially Keith was excited. In addition, we needed to take Keith's car back home then take him back to the dorm; he isn't allowed to have a car. Dinner was great as usual and like always Kyle and Justin received their share of attention. Now at the end of dinner here is how things play out ......... the bill is brought to the table and a fortune cookie is placed in front of each of us; let me be very clear about that. One (1) fortune cookie is placed in front of Kori, me, Ethan, and Keith and two (2) fortune cookies are placed in front of Justin and Kyle. The bill is paid and the change is brought to the table and another fortune cookie is `not so discreetly' slipped to the little brats; I mean rug-rats. We drove home parked Keith's car off to the side of our driveway and then we all took Keith back to the dorm and helped organize his room. With the TV and computer all hooked up and working it was time for us to say goodnight and head off home, but, then came the question that Kori and I were expecting as Ethan asked . . . . "Can I stay with Keith tonight?" . . . . Kori had the answer . . . . . . . . "Ethan, ... Jake and I thought you might ask that question and we both think it is a good idea `for tonight', just remember what we discussed, and remember you have to be in Durfee Hall not later than 8:30 not roaming around campus." The rug-rats weren't so happy with Ethan staying and they couldn't, but big hugs and a promise that Ethan would be home tomorrow and would play a game with them seemed to settle them down. The next day was fine and things were back to normal; Ethan appeared very happy, slightly tired but very happy, and as with Kyle and Justin excited for school to start and workouts at the pool with the swim team. The next few weeks passed quickly with all of us back to normal school, college, class and swim meet routines. Kori and I were seeing much less of Ethan just because of school work and swim team, but more of Justin and Kyle. Our personal schedules were more than full and trying to complete all the obligations had Kori and I running from early morning to late at night. Ethan was up early trying to help get Kyle and Justin ready for school or if Kori and I were fighting with the rug-rats Ethan was trying to make breakfast. Every day the routine was hectic. One night after Justin and Kyle were in bed Ethan came out to the kitchen; it was already 11:15 he looked at Kori and me and said . . . . "I love school here but it's wicked hard, I see why you wanted me to live here." . . . . Kori and I knew the high school work for University School was "prep" for entering Yale and so was elementary school but all 3 boys were at the top of their class. It was funny because Ethan said, a few days ago, he doesn't even see Keith that much unless Keith stays here for the weekend. So being together all day at school, then swim practice or meets, really doesn't mean they are together all that much. Now as of the first week in October we had settled into a weekday routine but really looked forward to weekends. Kori and I took turns picking up Ethan, Kyle, and Justin making dinner, helping with homework with the rug-rats, running Ethan, Justin, and Kyle back to the pool for either a lesson or workout on some nights. It was the end of the second week of October when Kyle, and Justin were getting excited about Halloween and what costumes they wanted and the big party and trick-or-treating on campus. Kyle decided to go as a skeleton with his heart hanging out and Justin went as a slightly demented doctor trying to repair Kyle. Kori and I thought it was an awesome idea and helped them with their costumes; I must say they looked great. It was Friday and Kori had a late afternoon lecture. I picked up the rug-rats and dropped them at the pool for lessons and then headed over to pick up Ethan after his last class. Ethan was with Keith and both got in the car and Ethan just said Keith was coming home with us till I needed to pick up Justin and Kyle. ........ Something was wrong. ........ Arriving home Ethan and Keith went directly to Ethan's room without saying a word. I was in the kitchen and in need of a good coffee when the boys came in and sat at the table and Ethan asked . . . . "Jake, can we talk to you about a something at school?" . . . . when I turned it became apparently clear that it was Keith that had a problem; his face was sad and pale, drained of blood and he was so nervous that his hands were shaking. I went over to Keith and said . . . . "whatever it is you can tell me and you know that we will help you." . . . . I was thinking Keith had perhaps received a warning of subject failure, I was so very wrong. Keith began . . . . "Jake, I had a visitor last night ......" . . . . Ethan jumped in because Keith couldn't go any further and said . . . . "Jake, (he doesn't' call me dad) Keith has been trying to be polite and friendly with Felipe and Felipe has been pushing the `friendship' thing; Keith has tried to tell Felipe he's not interested; but last night Felipe knocked on Keith's door and when Keith let him in Felipe became forceful and Keith ended up punching Felipe. Now Keith is worried that he will get thrown out of University School." I reassured Keith that he didn't need to worry about the school and that I would discuss it with Kori when he got home. Keith and Ethan went back to Ethan's room and I thought it best to let them know that Keith could spend the weekend; now that resulted in big smiles from both boys. I left and ran over to pick up Justin and Kyle and when returned home found Ethan and Keith making spaghetti for dinner. Keith found himself with some kid wrapped around his neck and waist and another kid tugging at him wanting a hug too. Kori walked through the door only 10 minutes later and while 4 boys were making dinner and somewhat of a mess, I took time to fill Kori in on what had happened. We decided to have dinner about 7 leaving me time to run over to the dining hall and perhaps have a talk with a certain someone. Kori was left with 4 boys and the kitchen and I was out the door before anyone noticed. Most students are creatures of habit when it comes to the choice of dining halls and Felipe was just where I thought he would be. He was sitting with 2 friends and not even aware that I was only 10 feet away. He looked up just as I reached the table and turned bright red. I just said . . . . "Hello Felipe, I hate to interrupt your dinner but may I have a moment with you?" . . . . Felipe stood and joined me as we walked over to a quiet corner. He looked at me and his look said he knew why I was there and he became very nervous. I said . . . . "Felipe that is quite a bruise on your face; don't say anything it's in your best interest not to." I continued . . . . "Here is what I'm going to say Felipe... You find Ethan and Keith attractive, and they are, but neither of them is interested in you. If you wish to remain at this University you will not speak to or approach either Keith or Ethan for the remainder of your time here. Should either Keith or Ethan ever say that you have tried what you tried last night you need to know that harassment charges will be filed and I will see that you will leave this University. Now go back to your dinner." I arrived home to hugs from the rug-rats and Kori and discovered that 2 boys were missing, well, not missing just very quiet in Ethan's room. Kori shoved garlic bread in the oven and I poured drinks and called everyone for dinner. Kyle and Justin, Kori and I were at the table when these 2 very red-faced boys joined the party and were told they could serve dinner. I think the best way to describe how they looked was to say they looked like they just finished a 5-mile run on a cold day with such red cheeks. To be Continued . . . . .
