Just a reminder that the story is told by either Jake or Kori in alternating Chapters. A Neglected Boy "The Twins LIII" jacoblion@tutanota.com With my decision to go to Kevin first thing in the morning to discuss the situation, and the house now quiet, Kori and I took advantage of the time for a slow warm shower. This was supposed to be our time for a little relaxation and perhaps even a little exercise like Ethan and Keith have; but what Ethan told Kori and I seemed to have distracted us to the point that it just wasn't going to happen; the shower happened ... the exercise didn't! We crawled into bed somewhat tired somewhat frustrated not even hugged up to each other as usual. I was trying to let my mind rest and enter sleep when Kori asked . . . . "Jake was it like this for you when I was fourteen and fifteen and with Liam and Ning running around?" . . . . I could only answer with ... "well, sometimes it was much like this but most of the time Kori, it was much worse." . . . . I felt a quick jab to my ribs as Kori almost climbed on top of me and, ahhhh ................. Well, if you must know, after the exercise Kori and I jumped back in the shower just to rinse off and not be so sticky. When we returned to bed and pulled up the covers sleep came quickly. There are many ways to wake up in the morning. There could be the sound of an alarm clock, there could be the deafening sound of an ambulance siren passing close by the house, there could be that miserable, hateful sun peeking through the window, or the wonderful aroma of fresh-brewed coffee but not today; ... today, for both Kori and I it was Justin and his double trouble brother Kyle already dressed in their Halloween costumes propped up beside Kori and me and with their fingers prying our sleepy eyes open. ........ Over and over Kori and I heard . . . . "Dad, dad, Hey Dad it's Halloween get up, come on you two lazy heads get up." . . . . I wasn't the least bit annoyed and neither was Kori. For me it was what Justin was doing that reminded me of the times Liam or Ning would pry open my eyes because of some special day; today it was that same excited expression on Justin and Kyle's faces because this was their first Halloween. I looked over at Kori as he pointed at the window ... Geeeeze the sun was still sleeping. Kori and I grabbed Kyle, the skeleton with his heart hanging out, and Justin, the slightly demented doctor, rolled them over to the center of the bed and began to torture them severely before giving them hugs and sloppy wet kisses. Laughing I pretended to have a heart attack and fell next to Justin and immediately the slightly demented doctor gave me a big kiss and said . . . . "all better Dad, get up time for breakfast!" Kori and I held the boys for just a few minutes before we gave in went to the kitchen and started what was to be one of the biggest and best Old-Fashioned New England breakfasts ever seen. I think Kori thought he was cooking for a dozen. We had bacon, sausage, eggs, home fried potatoes, baked beans, toast, lots of toast, milk, OJ, coffee and black, very black tea. The sausage and bacon were in the pan when Ethan rounded the corner looking like he thought there was something exciting going on and wanted to be a part of it, well, kind of and the kitchen was a rather exciting place this morning to be sure ... Kori was cooking! We finished this energy-packed breakfast and as we had the day off thought it would be a great day for a hike at Quinnipiac River State Park. https://connecticutexplorer.blogspot.com/2014/01/hiking-quinnipiac-river-state-park.html Kori and Ethan helped the boys pack and get dressed for hiking, find the cameras and head for the park and I would meet them after stopping to visit with Kevin and find out just what is going on with this character `Joe' and make it very clear what needed to done. I jumped into my fall North Face hiking gear and Kori and Ethan both have L.L. Bean and the rug-rats look so darn cute in their matching Patagonia bush pants and jackets and we were off. I thought with a good hike it may tire the tyrants out and we could have a short night of trick-or-treating but first I was on my way to the pool complex to see Kevin. I arrived at the main pool and as I was walking in met Tim who informed me that Kevin was on a trip to California and that just made me a little more pissed. I told Tim I was there to see Kevin about and issue that happened with this associate, `Joe', who was giving massages at the last state meet. ... Surprise........ `Joe' is no longer associated with the pool complex nor is he allowed at state or regional conferences, competitions or even social events. ... interesting. I asked Tim what the problem was and Tim just said it had something to do with the AAU, Amateur Athletic Union, but `Joe' had been banned from University properties and all University athletic events. Then Tim went on to say how happy Kevin was with all 4 boys and as of now Kyle, Justin, Ethan, and Keith are at the top of their divisions. I think when I left home, I was looking for a fight (verbal of course) with Kevin and would have pulled the boys from the swim team if Kevin had not agreed to fire `Joe'. Now with my blood pressure down and a smile on my face, it was off to join the crew at the park. I arrived at Quinnipiac State Park just as "The Crew" all of them including Keith were pulling on their backpacks what perfect timing; the only thing was that I wasn't aware that Keith was joining us, not that it made any difference. Kori gave me a look like well, ... `I just couldn't say no to Ethan' and then he said it was such a nice day that we just text Keith and said to be ready when we got to the dorm and he was ....... I think I've said once or twice that Keith is really just part of the family. Our hike for today is just over 5 miles and is along this beautiful section of river where we spotted many beautiful birds. Kori and I hung back a bit just so we could talk and watch the boys. It is just amazing to watch the interaction between the two teens and Kyle and Justin. Ethan and Keith were pointing things out to the rug-rats and sometimes Kori would nudge me to look as Kyle would take Ethan's hand and Justin would have Keith's hand. It was time for a snack and then we were off again and now Justin and Kyle were riding high on Keith and Ethan's shoulders. The afternoon was just what we needed and with the hiking and playing tag, I think Keith and Ethan had worn the rug-rats down and those two were dragging the last half mile back to the vehicles. Kori took Kyle and Justin with him and I took Ethan and Keith with me. We wanted to have Keith stay with us for dinner but he began to tell us what he and some other guys at the dorm had planned for Justin and Kyle. The rug-rats were in for the best night of trick-or-treating ever. Ethan was already laughing at some of what the boys at Durfee Hall had planned. After we dropped Keith at the University Ethan and I thought it was best when we got home, to explain to the little "twerps" that when trick-or-treating some people may try to scare them when they open the door. We pulled in the driveway and were greeted by 2 very excited Asian kids trying to tell Ethan and me that Kori was making some special roll-killed dinner all running with blood .......Well, that was all we could make out of the Korean/English description .... Sounded "nasty". As Ethan and I entered Kori explained that we were having "roadkill" for dinner and it would be ready in half an hour. Ethan and I sat watching some Korean cartoon with 2 of the most loveable little 9-year-olds who refused to get out of our laps. I think Kyle kissed Ethan about 12 times and was telling him he was the very `bestest' brother in the "whole world"! Now I was being told that Kori and I were the 2 bestest Dads in the "whole world" and I heard Ethan say . . . . "Wow, Justin you're so right about that." . . . . I think I just heard Ethan call me `Dad' but in a whisper. Kori called us for dinner ... This is so gross! ... and the rug-rats kept giggling ... Kori had made "cubed steak" but pounded them even more and then cut in the shape of half a rabbit or squirrel, it was hard to decide. We each were served one. The thing was then slightly drizzled with gravy, a rather thin gravy colored with food coloring to look like fresh dark red blood. The potatoes were whipped, I mean really whipped, all fluffy and covered in green, slimy green, gravy and for vegetables it was carrots cooked till very soft and placed on the plate to look like intestines. Gross! ... Justin and Kyle never shut up about how good the `rollkill' was and not only cleaned their plates but asked for more intestines. Ethan was laughing at them wanting more `intestines' because the rug-rats don't even like carrots. Dessert was vanilla pudding with little chocolate bits that Kori said was rabbit poop. Gross. ... and the rug-rats inhaled that and asked for more of that rabbit poop stuff. It was an interesting fun-filled dinner with tons of laughs and I have no idea where Kori came up with it, for sure I never made anything like it when he was 11 or 12. Dinner over Kyle and Justin were pulling on their skeleton and doctor costumes. We all know when our little cherubs are exceedingly excited because their speech becomes a mixture of Korean and English and as of the moment it's 80 percent Korean and the jibber-jabbing was fast and nonstop. Neither Justin or Kyle could stand still for even a minute. The boys in their costumes looked amazing and it was now off to Durfee Hall and Kori and I had 2 cameras to catch all the actions. We arrived on campus at Durfee Hall and Ethan had Justin and Kyle in tow with Kori and I following close behind. Everything was normal with just a few Halloween decorations but not really much. The plan was that Keith and Ethan would take the rug-rats around parts of the University Campus where there were family-oriented stops for young kids and then back to Durfee Hall for the final stop. Kori and I had no idea what was going to happen. The campus tour was finished and already Kyle and Justin had their goody bags filled and there would be enough candy for a year. All four boys were having tons of fun and it was so obvious that Keith and Ethan were enjoying every second with the rug-rats. We approached Durfee Hall but it was dark, it was very dark and there were no lights on in any of the rooms facing the walkway. Geeeezze, ...... Mary and Joseph the screaming! ... Justin and Kyle ran right up to the big front doors and right through the fake spider webs and that was nearly enough for both rug-rats right then they both hate spiders! Ethan and Keith calmed them down and pulled off the sticky webs and then the door opened and standing there was the tallest creepy Frankenstein ever seen with the best creepy Halloween music. Ok ... We had explained that some people might want to scare the boys and I guess this creep did. Both Kyle and Justin backed up about 10 feet in a second. Ethan and Keith held Justin and Kyle's hand tight as they made their way into the large front room ... but ... Kori and I nearly tripped over each other when this zombie came round from behind a big chair with only one arm, seriously this kid dressed up as a zombie only had one arm and was covered in blood and being chased by another monster running a chainsaw, fake chainsaw but it made noise. Now ........ the rug-rats were laughing and having the time of their life. It was one thing after another and it was great that the students at Durfee Hall were having a blast as well. We finally made our way to Keith's room where we discovered a very creepy room that had been made into a cave with spiders and bats. It looked as if two kids were getting tired, no not the rug-rats, Ethan and Keith and were ready for bed; Oh ... by the look on Ethan's face he was very ready for bed and so tired he wanted to stay at Keith's dorm room for the night. I'm sure that Keith and Ethan wanted to do a little trick-or-treating of their own. Kori and I gathered up the rug-rats and with the help of about 20 students made our way to the SUV. Justin and Kyle were laughing and carrying on with all the monsters, ghosts, and zombies that were helping to carry their treats. It was about 15 minutes later when we pulled in the driveway and had to carry 2 sleeping kids in the house. Kori and I pulled off their clothes and tucked them into bed and stashed the goodies in a number of places. A quick shower and Kori and I were tucked in our bed and ready for just a good night's sleep ... just a good night's sleep nothing more just sleep. I think Kori was asleep before me and it only took me a minute or two. I was dreaming of the farm and Finley when my phone began buzzing. Sometimes I hate the phone I looked at the clock it was just 1:20 am and I saw it was Ethan and that was alarming, why would he be calling at this time. I answered to hear Ethan say . . . . "Jake we've got a big problem and Keith needs your help, please." . . . . Ethan was talking fast and panicky and when he told me why I could understand the panic. ..... Ethan explained . . . . "Jake, one of Keith's friends gave him a couple of Viagra tablets and he thought it would be great if we tried to see if we could just keep going and now, he can't get it to go down and Keith is scared?" . . . . I answered saying . . . . "Ethan that was stupid, I'll wake Kori ......" I was interrupted with . . . . "No, no don't wake Kori can you come, please?" . . . . "Ok Ethan try wrapping a cold cloth on it and I'll get there as quick as I can and did you take one too?" ........... Thank goodness the answer to my question was Ethan did not take a Viagra and he's ok. I tried to slip from bed quietly but Kori was already awake and when I told him what was going on ... well, ... Ethan's grounded. It took 12 minutes for me to get to Durfee Hall and up to Keith's room. Ethan was dressed and quite nervous as he should be because both he and Keith knew the dangers of doing something like this. I didn't say anything really there was no need. Keith was so embarrassed. He sat in the chair by his desk in boxers with a wet cold towel, with ice cubes, wrapped around his penis. I asked if it had gone down a little or was it still fully erect, well, it was hard, it was very, very hard and I thought Keith would pass out when he reluctantly showed me. OMG ! ...... I asked how long it had been like that and the answer was now going on 2 hours. There was nothing I could do and for Keith, it was about to get worse. Ethan helped Keith get into sweat pants, shirt and jacket and it was off to the Emergency Room on campus. Keith begged to go to another hospital but his insurance is for here. We had our fingers crossed that no one would be on the stairs or in the main room on the first floor and thankfully there wasn't. We arrived at the ER and I told the attending what was going on, he did smile and then took a look at Keith but on the way into the exam area looked at Ethan with almost a knowing smile. Keith still had the ice packed towel covering his erection. The good news was that the tissue still looked healthy and it was very good we were there early on in the problem. Bad news ... it's called high-flow priapism and the treatment is worse than the name. I thought Keith was going to pass out when the doctor explained he was going to numb Keith's penis, then use a needle to drain blood from the area to ease pressure and swelling plus medication. No sex for at least 2 weeks! Ethan and I sat for over an hour while Keith was undergoing the procedure and when he was finished Ethan and I took Keith home with us. Ethan ended up sleeping on the couch and Keith had Ethan's room for the night. The next day Keith stayed in Ethan's room except for using the bathroom. Kori, Ethan and I explained to Justin and Kyle that Keith had a problem and had to go to the hospital last night and it was best that he just tries to sleep as much as he could. Yep and just try telling that to Justin and Kyle .... I think a length of rope would be handy at this point. To be Continued . . . . . A Neglected Boy "The Twins LIV" Authors deserve your feedback.
