Just a reminder that the story is told by either Jake or Kori in alternating Chapters. A Neglected Boy "The Twins LVII ... Thanksgiving" jacoblion@tutanota.com It felt so good to be all warm and close to Kori on such a cold night. Fortunately, there was no snow in the forecast so we knew Ethan and Keith would have good roads and be in Ashfield at the farm at least 3 hours before we arrived and even with the predicted cold the house would be warm. It was only minutes and I was off to some faraway place dreaming of sleighrides with Kori and Liam. I felt Kori as he gently shook me and then heard him ask . . . . "Jake is that the wind or a car in our driveway? . . . . I listened for a moment, ... pushed him over and said . . . . "go to sleep it's the wind." .......... I was having such a great dream and I'll never get back into it. Damn! ... Ok, I started to hear things, then the wind began to pick up then the wind began "howling" and now our trees with no leaves rustled around scraping the side of the house and Kori was still sleeping! A gust of wind that must have been around 70 miles an hour split the limb outside the west side of the house with a crack that sounded like a gunshot. The bedroom door flew open from the gust of wind followed soon after by 2 rug-rats. Kori had his arms around Kyle and I had my alms full of Justin when Ethan and Keith appeared with a very frightened Antonio; strange house and a fast-moving storm must have scared him nearly to death. Then the poor bed and how 2 became 4, then 4 became 5, 6, and 7, I'm surprised it survived. It took about 10 minutes to get Justin, Kyle, and Antonio calm and sent back to bed with Keith and Ethan leading the way. Another 10 minutes passed and all was quiet ........ I was just about asleep when Kori slipped from under the covers and went for a walk, I'd call it a discovery walk. Minutes later he was slipping back in bed and before I could ask he said . . . . "Yes, Jake they're all back in their rooms but Kyle and Justin are in the same bed. I felt warm arms wrap around me and I was asleep again. All was quiet as the warm sun crept around the edge of the window and began its morning routine of torture for Kori and I. .......... Wait .!.!.! ......... no rug-rats, no aroma of fresh coffee ...... somethings wrong. I checked on Ethan and Keith and they had already left. I looked at the clock 9 am ???? ... What ... we overslept and we're late. I walked down the hall to Kyle and Justin's bedroom ... empty ... turned and looked in Ethan's bedroom and there I find the rug-rats in bed fast asleep with Antonio. I gently woke all three and said . . . . "get up you guys you're so lazy ... Kori and I will get breakfast so go take a quick shower and get dressed." ........ Now Kori and I started breakfast and I had not even given any thought about what I said, until I realized what I had said. I didn't panic just set things down and headed for "The Twins" bathroom and I was right and wrong at the same time. Yes all 3 boys were in the shower but were just getting out, I glanced at Antonio, he was very soft and quite small, and he said . . . . "they asked me and said that Ethan showers with them so I thought it was Ok." ...... I smiled, handed him a big towel and said . . . . "Hope you like pancakes because Kori is making a big stack with real country bacon." As I walked back to the kitchen, I could hear 2 excited boys telling Antonio about Kori's pancakes and what real bacon is like. Kori had a large stack of pancakes I think 16 or 17 and had cooked the entire pound of bacon. Two adults and three kids, 16 pancakes a pound of bacon, orange juice, milk, coffee, tea and in 12 minutes everything was gone. Justin asked to be excused and all 3 boys disappeared in a flash. Who did the clean-up and dishes? ... Me. ... Thanks guys! It was now 10:30 Kori had packed the remaining few things he and I needed I went to see if Kyle, Justin, and Antonio were ready and found them dressed and standing at the back door with just back packs. I asked where their duffel bags were and Antonio said . . . . "Oh, Keith and Ethan put those in the car last night to save time in the morning." ...... hmmm, ... maybe the teens are smarter than Kori and I give them credit for ... nah, they just wanted a fast getaway. Kori looked at me and said . . . . "seriously Jake you know exactly why they left early" ..... Kori had that slippery, devious grin he gets when he's interested in a little amorous activity or a need for "exercise" as he sometimes refers to it. A last check of the house to make sure everything is turned off and we were in the SUV and heading for Ashfield. Kori was driving and Antonio had the shotgun seat and I sat in back between the rug-rats for obvious reasons; why you ask? They were both playing that game called Balloon Kid for their Game Boy Advance game module and sometimes things can get rather heated. 9-year-old twins can become war-like robotic monsters at any given time if one suspects the other is cheating; although that `never' happens with our little cherubs. I'm sure you didn't believe my last statement. Well, the other object for our seating arrangement is that is the easiest way for both Kori and I to see Antonio and try to explain the relationships of everyone that will be visiting at Thanksgiving and most likely Christmas. First Kori and I tried to explain the house and we did have a few photos and that helped. We took turns giving Antonio the layout; first we always try to pull around to the back and use the back porch and door because it has a mudroom then into a very large kitchen. Slight interruption to settle a small dispute with Kyle and Justin and then I tried my best to describe the first floor. From the kitchen, Antonio, it is the big bedroom addition to the house that is for Kori and I then down the hall past the living room, past Ethan's room and then on the left is the second bathroom and it's connected to the rug-rats bedroom so it has 2 doors one in the hall and one in Justin and Kyles bedroom. Kori and I finished a full description and I'm sure Antonio was quite bored, but, then we got into the descriptions of all the family and Antonio was all ears and particularly interested in Lars and Lukas when he looked at their photos. Neil and Peter's boys, although 10, are tall for their age and have light brown hair and big brown eyes. The trip to the farm flew by and believe it or not Justin and Kyle were very good, well, that is after their little disagreement but then they helped Kori and I try to explain to Antonio about who is who in our extended family. Antonio kept saying I see, or shaking his head or laughing at the rug-rats description of Will and Alex. We pulled in the driveway and almost to the back door promptly at 12:45. Kori and I were very surprised at what we saw and what happened next. Ethan and Keith had all the tools out, rakes, shovels and 3 large bags of leaves they had already stuffed. What a great surprise the next thing was more a surprise for Antonio and Keith than Kori, Ethan or me as our 2 little firemen had their little hoses out and were watering the evergreen bush at the corner of the barn ... yes there were laughs and then the rug-rats listened to a talk about peeeeeeing on the shrubs. Ethan and Keith told Kori and I that when they arrived there were tons of leaves everywhere and the place just looked a mess. There were still some small branches in the back yard near the big swing that needed to be cut and perhaps we could use them in the fireplace. The day was very warm for the week of Thanksgiving but we were expecting a change in weather in the next 2 days and perhaps even some snow flurries and of course the rug-rats selective hearing picked up on the word "Snow". It was time for lunch and another big surprise. Ethan and Keith had a large pan on the stove and had opened 3 cans of vegetable beef soup then added almost a pound of cooked ground beef and some seasoning to make what was a delightful thick soup. We made some toasted cheese sandwiches to go with this hardy soup and enjoyed a great lunch full of conversation and good laughs about the trip up from New Haven. After lunch Justin and Kyle gave Antonio the grand tour of the house and it was a great time for Ethan and Keith to find out the sleeping arrangements and they had a good argument about why Antonio should bunk with them. Yep that's right Ethan and Keith had a good argument and here are their thoughts as Ethan explained........... ............ "Jake you and Kori told Kyle and Justin that Lars and Lukas will be in their bedroom, Peter and Neil will be in my bedroom, Liam, Abby, Will, and Alex upstairs in the playroom and Keith, me and Antonio down in what used to the music room, so it only makes sense to let Antonio bunk with Keith and I so he won't be alone, Oh and we already talked about ... well, you know the sex thing." Ethan and Keith had a good point that is unless Kori and I think it would be best to let Antonio sleep on the big couch in the living room but, as Ethan pointed out that means Antonio is alone. Hmmmm, quite interesting when you think about it. Kori agreed with Ethan and Keith; what? ........ I wasn't expecting that. Keith and Ethan were all smiles and in a flash they were off to find Antonio and those cute little Korean boys we affectionately call rug-rats, tyrants, brats, Tasmanian devils among other things. What's this? ... here comes Ethan, Keith and Antonio and the rug-rats with 1 full-size and 1 twin inflatable mattress and Justin and Kyle with sheets, 3 pillows and sleeping bags and all 4 boys were heading downstairs to the music room. ........ Stop! .......... mid-stairs is where they stopped and both Kori and I said at the same time . . . . "change the full-size inflatable for 2 more twins." ... Oh, the look Kori and I got and about 5 excuses why the full size would be much better ... and none of the 5 excuses made any sense. We all went down to help Ethan, Keith, and Antonio set up their room we even brought in some old shelves from the storage shed so they had a place to set their clothes. That done we all headed outside to finish the big cleanup that Keith and Ethan had started but somehow that last huge pile of leaves ended up with bodies in it before it found its way into plastic yard bags. Well we had 2 days before Neil, Peter and their boys arrived and the afternoon chores had us about whipped and ready for a big dinner. Pizza, chicken wings, and garlic sticks from Countrypie Pizza just past Elmer's store. Three large pizzas, large order of sticks and a double order of wings. Great dinner; then it was movie time, showers, yes showers. Antonio, Kyle and Justin in the oversized shower-tub in the master bedroom with bathroom door open, Ethan and Keith in the other bathroom where Kori and Peter had so many showers together, then it was off to bed and Kori and I got our shower; oh yes ... it was so nice and warm and ........ Ok, there was a little exercise and then off to bed. The night was cold but the bed was warm. Kori sometimes teases or needles me about my nightly house check but honestly, I am concerned that the water faucets and lights are off. Now tonight the wind was blowing and it was cold outside but, the bed was warm until Kori had to check on things and he got all the way to the bedroom door when I said . . . . "their fine Kori and they won't do anything that you didn't do with Peter"...... Kori turned around and lifted the covers and slid back in bed. I have no idea what happened but Kori and I slept the whole night uninterrupted. It was almost 8 when that most wonderful aroma of my favorite coffee floated in the bedroom. Kori was just pushing back the covers when the door opened about 2 inches and there was a very soft cute voice asking if it was Ok to come in. Kori said yes and who could we imagine would be running across the floor and jumping on the bed? ... Yes it was those little rug-rats of ours all excited because Antonio was making breakfast. Wait ... Antonio was making breakfast? ... Well, he and Ethan were making breakfast and it was French Toast, really it had to be French Toast because they were using French bread. In the kitchen were 3 very handsome young boys and by the looks they had everything under control and "one" of them even asked me if I would like to either put on some shorts or PJ's rather than to just stand around in boxers. Now the request for shorts or PJ's came from my new and eldest child; he'll learn all about paybacks today. Kori thought the tea was a little weak much like dishwater is what he said, other than that breakfast was excellent. Kyle and Justin were dressed and out waiting for the horses at 10 along with Antonio while Ethan and Keith were getting water buckets filled and the paddock and pasture gates opened. Excitement for everyone as 2 large horse trailers pulled in with the 7 horses I had reserved till the day after Thanksgiving. It was the usual event for Kori and I as we put 4 horses in stalls in the barn. Having finished that we opened the partitions in the longest trailer making them into 3 small but very adequate stalls for the 3 smaller horses, no not ponies but horses. Kori and I walked into the barn to find Justin, Kyle, Antonio, Keith, and Ethan watching one of the geldings taking a good pee and Kyle, Justin and Antonio trying to see whose arm is about the same size as the gelding's dick. Kori gave a slight smack to the back of Kyle's head while I gave Justin a little slap to his backside and that ended up with then all laughing as they ran out of the barn. Now for the big question................. Antonio looked right at Ethan and Keith and said . . . . "that horse's dick was as long as Kyle's arm ... when he's done peeing where does it go?" . . . . I was about to explain but Kori gave me the look that means "shhh, quiet"; so, Kori and I listened as Ethan and Keith tried to get out of the situation as best they could. ... Nope not a chance! Now it was not only Antonio but Justin, and Kyle and Justin asked if that horse had balls? The conversation between Kyle, Justin and Antonio had Keith and Ethan backed up against a wall, figuratively, and soon it was getting right down to the nitty and gritty of how horses have sex. Kori and I finally stepped in and said we needed to get all the tack in the tack room and turn the heater on so the leather wouldn't harden up in the cold. I don't think Kori and I really stopped the line of questioning but just delayed it till later. The tack was taken care of and it was time for lunch then off for a trail ride and that should be tons of fun because Antonio has never been on a horse. Lunch was Kori's creation and he decided on Monte Cristo sandwiches with black bean soup. Keith thought this was the best ever and wanted the recipe and Ethan wrote all the details as Kori described them step by step. Spread mustard on pieces of French toast and divide ham and turkey evenly among them and top each with 2 slices of the cheese. Then spread the rest of the pieces of French toast with the mayonnaise and squish the sandwich together. ... You have to heat a large skillet over medium heat and spread ½ tablespoon of the butter on the top and bottom of each sandwich. Cook 3 sandwiches in the skillet until brown, 2 minutes per side then slide them onto a baking sheet and into a 400-degree oven and bake until the cheese is melted and the toast is heated through, about 4 minutes. Yes, that is the way Kori makes Monte Carlo sandwiches but to be honest Kyle, Antonio, and Justin just wanted to eat and so did I. Ok, ok lunch was fantastic but some people were more interested in going on a trail ride right about now. Dishes were simply placed in the large kitchen sink and would be washed by our youngins after we returned. Horses were saddled and everyone seated and at a good walking speed it was down through the upper and lower pasture and through the lower pasture gate I had built many years ago. We turned north and headed for the old orchard and to everyone's disbelief there were still apples on some of the trees. Kori was leading and then ...... suddenly ...... we all came to a halt. Fortunately, Ethan, Kyle, and Justin had their cameras and I was really pissed that mine was on the kitchen table because off to our right and perhaps not more than 150 or 200 feet at the most was the biggest and most beautiful black bear I've ever seen in these old orchards. This bear I think was probably about 500 or even 600 pounds and looked as if he had just returned from being groomed. His coat was full and beautiful and very shiny. We quietly sat without a sound and just watched as he continued gorge himself on apples. Soon we began to move again and when the bear realized the movement he stood on his hind feet and snorted, turned and ran into the bush. Wow was that exciting. The boys must have thought we were far from danger and the loud exciting chatter began and seemed to never end. With Kori leading and me bringing up the rear all 5 boys were in the middle and having a great time. I can only imagine the stories Keith and Antonio will have to tell their parents. Antonio dropped back a little and asked me if there were many bears in the area and all I could tell him was that the population has been increasing. The last I knew there were somewhere around 4,500 as last thought by the state wildlife management and they have been gaining population even in Eastern Massachusetts. I'm beginning to like Antonio, he's cute, smart as a whip, and perhaps not unlike any other boy his age when it comes to being curious about sex. It was getting dark when we finished the afternoon ride and found ourselves back at the barn. As we were putting the tack away and grooming the horses there came a ruckus and lots of laughing. I went to the end stall to see what was going on and Kori was all kinds of bent out of shape. It appears while brushing his horse he didn't notice it had to pee and dropped its penis and let loose; ... so what?............... ...............well, the gelding wasn't standing perfectly still and so it happened that Kori's legs got a good washing in horse pee. Five, that's right all 5 boys were in hysterical laughter and as I looked Kori's left leg was soaked and the thing is that this had happened to Kori several times when he was a kid. I finished grooming Kori's horse while Kori headed off to the house to change. The remainder of the day was dinner, games, movies with pop corn and punch, uneventful showers and off to bed. Kori climbed in bed and was a little quiet the burst out laughing. I asked what was so funny and he said . . . . "Jake you know that was like the fifth time I've had a horse pee on me? And it was funny after I thought about how the boys must have seen it." I hugged up to Kori and then we talked about what might be going on down in the music room with Keith, Ethan and Antonio. Kori and I had to admit that neither of us thought nothing would happen. We really thought it was more like who was doing what to who. Now just talking about it created the same thing in our bed and it was who was doing what to whom. I will say that both Kori and I enjoyed ourselves and he seemed to be slightly more excited than usual. If that's possible. Morning came and it was the usual for Kori and I with a good shower and then we both could smell the aroma of bacon and for me coffee. I did however need to throw a couple of towels in the wash and as I walked into the laundry room who was there throwing 2 large towels in the washer? ... Oh, hi Ethan, he looked at me with this huge grin as I was standing there just as guilty as he, with my towels. All 4 towels had an ammonia or bleach-like kind of smell. Guilty, guilty, guilty! Just as Ethan and I were leaving Antonio rounded the corner ... whoa, guilty .... He turned bright red but with a smile. I headed for the kitchen and a hot cup of coffee was being handed to me by Keith and one look at him was just like ...... "Ok, we did it last night all 3 of us got sucked off, we all jerked off we just had lots of fun" ...... I just said . . . . "Thanks Keith, I bet today and tonight will be just as much fun as yesterday and last night. Keith, with his color very pink, just said . . . . "I sure hope so." .........and the rug-rats agreed and were all excited about another trail ride and wishing to see that bear again. Thank goodness they had no idea what Keith, Antonio, Ethan and I were talking about. I walked back in the bedroom to get a shirt and told Kori about meeting Ethan at the washer. Kori just smiled, shook his head and said . . . . "Ok, the boys will be boys and so what." Breakfast was great. With breakfast finished it was a reminder that Neil, Peter and their boys will be arriving tomorrow by noon. Now with that information everyone was really excited and the remainder of the day and night I was sure would be a repeat of last night. As we were getting ready for bed I had to laugh because Kori made a point of taking 3 extra towels down to the music room and placing them on Keith's bed. Both sleep and mornings light came quickly and this morning it was a full out attack by none other than our little Korean tyrants trying to get Kori and I to understand that they were banished ... ... hmm, Kori was laughing and saying they should be banished and that was just making Kyle mad. I have to explain....... Kyle and Justin are working on advanced spelling and vocabulary words and every so often Kori and I need to help and this is one of those times because they are famished not banished although they should be banished sometimes. It all ended up just fine when Antonio heard the commotion stuck his head in and asked . . . . "Hey anyone hungry?" . . . . rug-rats did one of their magic acts and disappeared with Antonio and that was to Kori and my relief. Breakfast finished, chores finished and the horses turned out to the upper pasture. Stalls cleaned, water buckets filled laundry dried and folded, nice looking towels. There was nothing we really needed to get done and it was just the waiting game for Peter, Neil and the boys .......... and.........they drove in an hour early and all Hell broke loose! Lars and Lukas tore from the Land Rover and tackled Justin and Kyle and Ethan wasn't about to stand still and next thing Kori and I knew there were 7 boys in a big pig pile laughing and screaming and wrestling and all "dirty"! ... Peter and Kori were hugging and so was Neil and I and it was like old times once again and just for a moment my mind flashed back to days long ago. I could see Peter and Kori when they were 12; I miss those days. It was a walk around the property and then in for drinks and chips while Ethan, Keith, and Antonio made lunch and rug-rats and Lars and Lukas went to play with the Xbox. Lunch was great and then it was saddling the horses and all the boys rode in the upper and lower pastures while Neil, Peter, Kori and I went to look at where Neil and Peter wanted to build. Neil had some excavation stakes and a hundred-foot tape and we made some rough sightings and pounded stakes in the ground, house and workshop marked for their new home. Both Peter and Neil wanted it finished by summer and were not looking for any delays. Weather permitting construction to begin March 1 and finished by June. The next three days were full of fun, games wrestling with all the boys, one broken bed when the rug-rats decided to jump on Kori and I followed by Lars and Lukas and the bed said ... NO ... and collapsed from the excitement. Speaking of excitement ... there was one incident that I know of when I found Antonio in the shower with Lars. On the way from New Haven to Ashfield it appeared that Antonio really liked the photo of Lukas but when the boys arrived Lars took an immediate liking to Antonio and they were ... um ... very friendly and that did on occasion cause a little problem between Justin, Kyle and Lukas. I think Lukas was a little jealous. Well, like when Kori and Peter were about 12, they forgot to close their hall bathroom door several times and I saw what they were doing. I don't know if Lars had been sucked before but he was getting sucked now. I walked by and shut the hall bathroom door. Things didn't end there according to Ethan when he said he walked in on Lars and Lukas having a little show and tell with Justin and Kyle. I'm betting it isn't the first time for Justin and Kyle knowing some of the stories Kori and I `ve heard about what goes on in the shower room at the pool. Thanksgiving Day arrived with Liam, Abby, Will, and Alex showing up at 8:30 and that was a surprise but with the twins almost 3 I guess mornings begin early. Morgan showed up at 11 with 2 of those buffet tables and a large spiral cut ham, Mrs. Benson brought a small turkey, Kori had cooked a large 24-pound turkey, and Helen had 2 kinds of stuffing. There was apple pie, pumpkin pie, crumb cake, ice-cream and individual mincemeat pies and cookies. Hungry? Stories of the days when I was teaching grade 4 and all that happened at school, fishing and camping as well as the skinny-dipping story continued all afternoon. Keith had left early this morning to spend the day with his family but returned at 7 pm "famished" ... "From what the drive back to Ashfield?"... is all I could think of. Now for as tall and thin as Keith is I have no idea how he stays that way when we all watched him have his second Thanksgiving Day dinner along with a piece of apple and pumpkin pie and ice-cream. The day was nearing an end and it was now just family and we were ready for bed when Liam and Abby wanted to get their twins bathed and that is when we had a few more laughs. Alex and Will don't like baths and escaped running all over the house naked. Liam latched onto Alex and Ethan had Will and they were in hot water, the expression "hot water", the bath was actually nice and warm. The morning came as usual with that hateful miserable sun throwing daggers at Kori and I. Oh, the breakfast, it was my turn and I decided it would be a breakfast not to be forgotten and pulled out all the stops for a real Old-Fashioned New England Breakfast. Stuffed was the only word to describe how we all felt after eating every little morsel. Liam, Abby and the kids headed for Boston and Neil, Peter, Lars, and Lukas headed for Maine. The house felt empty and sad but that soon was turned around with the antics of our little rug-rats. A day and a half later we had the farm closed and were on our way back to New Haven and the University but we knew it was only a few short weeks and we would be back at our home at the farm in Ashfield.
