Nearing our destination, I felt our bodies gradually slow down inside the tube, coming to an abrupt stop when I felt my barefeet touch the ground. Watching as the door of the escape hatch quickly slid open inside the wall of the loading dock, Daro and I were immediately confronted by the sights and sounds of battle when we saw Zalaxian federation soldiers fighting against the Lazerro army as laser fire flew rapidly across the length of the large cargo bay. Stepping out of the chute, I set Daro down on the ground, being careful to keep him close against my hip as I looked out onto the chaos unfolding on the loading dock floor. Several of the cargo shuttles used for transporting supplies were on fire after being repeatedly hit by laser blasts. Many of the dock workers fought side by side with federation soldiers, doing everything they could to hold the Lazerro army back from moving further inside the Apollo. The loading dock floor was strewn with several dead bodies; fighters from both sides of the conflict who had become casualties of war. It was at that moment that I saw the face of a Lazerro soldier for the first time. Seeing the humanoid fighter remove his helmet, I stared directly into his eyes, instantly making a connection. Wearing a dark red suit of body hugging, light weight armor and tall, black, jack boots, I briefly saw the beings face when he turned its head to look straight at me. Staring at the half reptilian-like alien; half human creature, I immediately noticed that his eyes were black and pale gray with a feline appearance to them. The exoskeletal bones of his forehead, cheeks and jawline protruded slightly from his face as he smiled wickedly, flashing his razor sharp incisors. Having never seen the face of a Lazerro soldier before, according to intelligence collected by the federation, I knew that their army were made up of genetically engineered beings, created by introducing human DNA into the reproductive system of an aggressive, alien species. In the files that I had read about their physicality and cognitive functions, they were an average of seven feet tall with an exceedingly muscular build and inhumanly strong. Bred to be sociopathic, a Lazerro soldier's brain was wired to lack any and all empathy, making him a brutally savage opponent. "Get behind me!" I shouted at Daro. Quickly scanning the loading dock floor, I looked to see if Harry had arrived safely. Turning my head to the right, I immediately spotted him crouching behind a large forklift about twenty feet away from where we were standing, valiantly firing his laser rifle at the enemy. Picking Daro up under my arm to hold him like a football, I sprinted toward my best friend, unloading my laser rifle at the enemy as I ran to be at his side. Being Harry and I only had time to put on our pants, we both had no choice but to move through the dock shirtless and barefoot, doing everything possible to avoid getting sprayed by flying laser fire or stepping on sharp debris. As for Daro, the poor boy had been caught up in the mayhem wearing only a t-shirt that just barely covered his little bare bottom and privates. Crouching down behind the forklift with Daro between us, Harry and I continued firing our guns while we thought up a strategy to get to our cargo shuttle and evacuate the ship as quickly as possible. "Harry! I can see our shuttle from here. It's still intact! Take Daro and weave through the grounded ships as fast as you can! I'll cover you both!" I yelled over the commotion. "Fuck that!" Responded Harry. "You know I'm a better shot! You take, D!" He yelled. Looking deep into Harry's eyes, I knew he realized I wanted him to take Daro to the shuttle because I was afraid of leaving him behind by himself. Staring back at me with a serious expression on his face, Harry spoke warmly, trying hard to reassure me that our mission would be a successful one. "It's okay, John. We're all gonna make it outta here...I promise." Leaning forward, I kissed Harry firmly on the lips. Stretching up to meet his face, Daro did the same. Telling Daro to climb on my back, I carefully looked out from behind the forklift before sprinting out onto the loading dock floor, concentrating on keeping my body low as I ducked enemy laser fire while weaving in and out between burning ships. Coming up on our shuttle which was sitting just a few feet away, I suddenly lost my footing when I felt a powerful blow to the back of my head. Dizzy and in pain, I felt my body fly forward onto the ground, hearing a loud smacking noise as the barrel of my laser pistol dug into my stomach when I struck the floor. Facing the ground, I suddenly felt an intense pressure coming from behind me as a Lazerro soldier firmly pressed his boot down onto the back of my neck. Seeing where Daro had fallen down beside me, I watched him fight desperately, kicking and punching as a different Lazerro soldier reached down with his large, bumpy, green-skinned hands to snatch him up off the loading dock floor. Turning my head as far as I could, I looked up to see two more Lazerro soldiers standing above me, laughing manically as they passed my defenseless boy back and forth between them like a ball. Trying to get my bearings after being socked in the head, I watched the two alien soldiers grab hold of Daro's limbs. One held on to him by his upper arms as the other took hold of his small calves, grasping tightly at his legs. Seeing the alien soldier holding Daro up by his underarms, I saw him suddenly change position, wrapping his huge forearm around my boy's neck, placing him in a head lock. As the first alien soldier held him against his chest, I watched the other soldier rip Daro's t-shirt from his body, completely exposing his nude, little physique. Trying to focus on how I could save my boy, I became angry when I saw the two alien soldiers run their slimy looking hands over his bare mound and buttocks. "GET YOUR FUCKIN HANDS OFF HIM! I'M GONNA FUCKIN KILL YOU!!" I yelled, angrily. Attempting to stand up, I felt a sharp, stabbing pain on the back of my neck as the Lazerro soldier standing over me applied more pressure with his boot. The soldier holding Daro against his chest by his throat lifted him up higher, giving the other soldier, now holding on to his thighs, the opportunity to force his little legs apart, allowing him to lean in and lick Daro's bald pubis. "Mmm, we're gonna have fun with you back at the ship, boy. I can already hear you screaming." Said the soldier to Daro with an evil grin on his face. Concentrating, I remembered that my laser pistol was tucked into the front of my pants. Being careful not to arouse suspicion as I slowly moved my hand underneath my torso, I reached down, wrapping my fingers around the grip. Gathering all the strength I had, I pushed my body up off the floor, flipping myself around as I entwined my legs inside my captors legs. Kicking out hard, I knocked the Lazerro soldier off balance as I quickly aimed my laser pistol directly at his forehead and pulled the trigger. Watching a part of the alien soldier's scalp fly off as he fell down dead, from the corner of my eye I saw another laser blast blow out the face of the alien soldier that was holding Daro in a head lock, killing him instantly. Seeing the large, green alien collapse on the ground, I immediately noticed Harry standing behind him, holding onto his rifle as he sneered angrily at the dead Lazerro soldier. Seeing Daro's body fall to the ground, I watched as the final living alien soldier attempted to jump down after him. Realizing he was planning to take our boy hostage and use him as a shield to get away, I dove down toward the floor after him. Tackling the soldier from behind, I grabbed ahold of his arms before he could catch Daro, rolling around on the ground with him as we began to wrestle with one another. Using all of my strength, I repeatedly punched the alien being's face and chest, doing everything I could to incapacitate him. Being he was as strong as he was, it didn't take long for him to recover, allowing him the ability to retaliate with his fists. Unable to get a clear shot at the alien as we rolled around on the floor, Harry put down his weapon to join me in the fight, landing blows to the back of the soldier's head and neck with his fists. Growing agitated as the two of us punched various places on his physique, the alien being managed to throw Harry and I off of him before grabbing Harry's laser rifle that was lying nearby. Getting up off the ground, the Lazerro soldier sneered with aggression as he aimed the barrel downward, pointing it at me. Looking up at the gun, I watched as a single laser blast exited the hole of the barrel and entered my thigh, causing me to yell out in pain. "SIR!" Cried Daro as he ran toward me. Feeling him jump into my arms, I clutched my boy's diminutive, nude physique against my bare chest, ignoring the pain of being shot so that I could roll over on top of him in a desperate attempt to shield his body from laser fire. Seeing Harry quickly get up off the ground, I knew he realized that I was unarmed, leaving Daro and I at the mercy of the alien's wrath. Glancing back at him, I suddenly saw a savage expression appear on his face as he became enraged. In that moment, he had become a partner; a brother; a father, whose family had been threatened in front of him. Without thinking twice, Harry attacked the Lazerro soldier with everything he had. Knocking the barrel of the rifle upwards as it went off, Harry head butted the alien soldier, disorienting him for just a moment. Collapsing on the floor together, Harry and the alien began to wrestle with each other, each soldier desperately fighting to gain the upper hand over the other. Suddenly, I watched as the alien kicked Harry's chest, knocking the wind out of him before kicking him in the stomach, sending his body flying as he pushed him away to land on his back. Grabbing the rifle sitting next to him, the Lazerro soldier stood up. Aiming the barrel down at Harry, Daro and I watched in horror as the alien pulled the trigger, firing a series of laser blasts that tore into the abdomen of the man we loved. "DEREK!!!" I cried out. Seeing the alien soldier turn the gun in our direction, I continued to cover Daro, holding him close as I prepared myself to feel the burning sensation of laser fire entering my body. It was then that I heard a loud, crackling sound ring out above me. Pulling my head back up, I turned to see a bolt of blue electricity hit the alien soldier directly in the chest, throwing him backward about twenty feet; the bolt killed him instantly. Knowing the threat to us had been eliminated, I quickly scanned the length of my boy's body, making sure that he hadn't been hurt. "You okay, baby?" Daro nodded his head, crying as he hugged me tightly. Looking up into the direction where the bolt of electricity had come from, I saw Steg, standing erect as he held a large, cannon like gun strapped over his shoulder. Looking behind him, I could see at least a hundred other Dagabbian male soldiers, all with the same physical size and girth as Steg, firing their weapons at the Lazerro soldiers, killing many of them where they stood. Rushing over to us, Steg crouched down, "You are hurt bad, Riggs, no?!" "I'm okay." I responded. Though my leg hurt like a son of a bitch, the laser had been hot enough to cauterize the wound, preventing me from bleeding out. "You must take Harry and boy and go, NOW! More Lazerro be coming soon!" Said Steg with an urgency in his voice. Seeing a federation flag lying nearby, Steg ripped it in half, creating a tourniquet to wrap around my leg. Helping Daro and I up off the ground, Steg then ran to Harry's side, gathering his limp, wounded body up in his arms to follow Daro and I as we hurriedly made our way up the ramp of the shuttle. Once inside, Steg carried Harry to the back of the ship with Daro in tow, taking him to the medical cube of the shuttle. Returning to join me in the cockpit, Steg watched as I fired up the vessel, preparing to launch us all out of the loading dock of the Apollo. Seeing Steg standing at my side, I saw him produce a large tubular cartridge filled with bright green liquid from his backpack; it was a nitrogen cartridge used to give a ship a quick power boost. "Here," said Steg, "Put this in engine to make ship go faster." Grabbing the cartridge, I looked up at Steg with desperation in my eyes. "How is he?!" Looking sullen, Steg spoke. "Riggs...Harry need medical attention, soon." Clasping Steg's hand, I pulled him into a hug, slapping his back. "Thank you, Steg. For everything." Steg hugged me back hard. "Farewell, old friend." He said, before turning to exit the shuttle. Closing the hatch, I fired up the shuttle, lifting off in the direction of the airlock as laser fire and bolts of electricity flew back and forth around us. Picking up speed, I slammed the nitrogen cartridge into its slot once we had exited the loading bay. Seeing a huge, Lazerro destroyer ship and several Lazerro fighters swarming the Apollo, I nervously watched the green liquid inside the capsule drain into the engine. Hearing the loud crackling sound of enemy laser blast hitting the shuttle, my worries were suddenly quelled when the vessel quickly jumped to hyper speed, instantly propelling us away from the battle as we hurled toward safety. **** Once the shuttle had come out of hyper speed on the other side of the galaxy, I put the vessel into auto pilot before limping to the back of the ship to be with my family. Entering the medical cube, I immediately laid eyes on Daro weeping quietly as he kneeled on a chair beside Harry, holding his hand. Feeling a knot forming in my stomach, I approached my partner's side as he lie wounded on the examination table; his face was ashen. Looking down at the blanket that covered his body, I instantly noticed that the area of his abdomen where he had been shot was soaked with blood. Not wanting Harry to see the fear in my eyes, I forced myself to smile as I took his free hand in mine; it was cold. "We did it, Harry! We made it out. We're coming up on the Solarian constellation. I know a couple of safe planets there where we can find a doctor. Just hang on." Slowly turning his head to look at me, Harry smiled faintly. Studying his face, I could see that his eye lids were heavy, appearing as though he would fall asleep at any minute. "We did it, Riggs. We got D out...but don't bullshit me, dude. You know I ain't goin anywhere." He said. Staring into Harry's eyes, I was suddenly overwhelmed by sadness, knowing that at any moment, I would be losing my best friend. Glancing over at Daro, I saw my boy weeping uncontrollably as he held Harry's hand against his small, bare chest. Looking back at Harry, I watched him lift his hand up to Daro's face, beginning to gently stroke his cheek as he gazed longingly into his eyes. "When I first met you, I was mean to you." Said Harry. "I've always regretted that. You are an amazing boy. Take care of Riggs for me, baby. He needs you even more than he knows. I love you, champ." Daro leaned forward, gently kissing Harry on the mouth. Unable to hold onto my grief, I allowed my self to cry as Harry looked back at me. Leaning forward, I continued to hold his hand as I gently stroked his hair. "We've been through some tough shit together, you and me. "Said Harry, his breathing became increasingly shallow. "But we always made it out on top. Y-You take D, and you g-go live your lives together somewhere peaceful. Buy some land, h-have some babies, I don't know. J-Just take care of each other, okay?" He said, his voice growing weaker by the second. Staring into my best friend's eyes through my tears, I let him know exactly how I felt. "You are the best partner, friend...and brother any guy could ever have. I love you, Officer Derek Harry. I love you so much." Leaning forward, I gently kissed Harry's lips, feeling the familiar, supple warmth of his mouth one last time. As I pulled my head back from my best friend's handsome face, I immediately noticed that his eyes were still partially open. However, as I stared closer into his beautiful green irises, right away, I noticed that the life inside of them had faded. Looking down at Harry's bare torso, I could see that his chest cavity had stopped rising and falling, telling me that his breathing had ceased and that he was no longer with us. Letting my eyes wander over to where Daro was sitting, I completely lost my composure when I saw my fragile, little boy's body rocking back and forth as he sobbed uncontrollably, mourning the loss of the man who had been his lover and friend. Moving over toward my boy, I scooped his body up in my arms, holding him tightly against my chest as I laid my forehead down in the crook between his neck and shoulder, weeping along with him for the man we both had loved. **** Fifteen minutes later, I was back up at the control panel of the shuttle, trying to ignore the pain in my leg as I desperately searched the navigation system for a friendly nearby planet where I could land the ship. Though I wasn't sure leaving Daro alone with Harry's body had been a good idea, I realized I didn't have much of a choice when he had grabbed onto Harry for dear life, screaming bloody murder when I attempted to pull him away, refusing to leave his side. Knowing my boy was trying to cope with the loss of the man he loved, I didn't want to upset him any further and decided to just let him be. As I searched futility for a place to dock the vessel, I saw a red light on the control panel suddenly begin to blink. Looking down at the monitor, I felt my heart sink when I realized that the shuttle's AI system was telling me that the electrical circuits of the vessel had been fried, letting me know that the ship would soon lose all of its power. The damage had most likely occurred when the laser blasts from the Lazerro fighters had hit the exterior of the ship right before we jumped to hyper speed. Suddenly, from the corner of my eye, my concentration was interrupted by a dazzling burst of bright, white light emanating from the back of the shuttle. Concerned for Daro's well being, I rose out of my seat as fast as my sore leg would let me to move towards the medical cube. Reaching the small room, I frantically looked inside to find Daro. As my eyes scanned the confines of the sterile space, nothing could have prepared me for what it was that I saw next. Staring at the examination table where Harry's dead body was lying, I was unable to look away when I saw Daro, still naked, had pulled Harry's pants completely off and was straddling his nude corpse. Peering a little closer, I was shocked when I realized that he had somehow inserted Harry's flaccid penis inside his pussy as he placed his lips over his mouth; Harry's lips had already started turning a ghastly shade of bluish-purple. Looking over the spectacle with a feeling of disgust, I was suddenly livid with Daro for desecrating our partners dead body. Moving over towards the table to yank him off of Harry, I was immediately stopped in my tracks when I saw an intense flash of brilliant, white light begin to swirl around Daro and Harry's body as they lay entwined together on the table. Shielding my eyes from the mass of blinding lights as they completely lit up the room, I crouched down on the floor, covering my eyes with my forearm. As the overpowering glare began to die down a little, I squinted, trying hard to see what was happening in front of me. Standing up, I looked back over the table, watching in awe as Daro, still squatting over Harry, pulled his torso up as a bright stream of iridescent light flowed between their mouths; their bodies were glowing with a supernatural golden hue. Within a few seconds, the lights suddenly dissipated. Staring at my boy in shock as he sat on his haunches over Harry's pelvis, I suddenly realized that his body was about to go limp. Knowing he was about to fall off the exam table, I ran to grab him, pulling him into my embrace as I cradled his small body in my arms. Looking down at his face, I immediately noticed that he had lost consciousness. "No, baby! Please don't do this to me now, please!" I said in a panic. Gently setting him down on a chair, I placed a blanket over him, doing all that I could to revive him from his slumber. Seeing him open his eyes after being revived by smelling salts, I immediately let out a sigh of relief. It was at that moment, from behind me, that I heard Harry take in a huge gasp of air, followed by a burst of coughing. Spinning around, I looked up at his face, seeing that his gorgeous, green eyes were once again wide open and that he was breathing normally. Scanning the length of his torso, I looked down at the place on his abdomen where he had been shot. Though I could tell that the wound hadn't healed completely, just by looking at it, I immediately knew that it was no longer a threat to his life. Grabbing a cup of water, I ran to Harry's side, holding it up to his lips in order to help him drink. Watching in amazement as my friend sipped from the cup, I couldn't believe that he was actually alive again. Meeting my eyes with a look of bewilderment, Harry pulled the cup away from his mouth. "Riggs? What the hell happened?" Looking over at Daro as he recuperated on the chair, I saw my boy smile faintly as his gaze met mine. "I brought Harry back home." **** If you'd like to comment on the story, email me at: proseguy1@proton.me
