*=Gone but not forgotten

It had been a full and wonderful day and Oliver and I were exhausted. We tucked our sons into their bed, kissed them goodnight and then headed off for some quality cuddle time and a night of exhausting sleep. In the middle of the night I hear this voice calling my name. Viktor, Oliver... WAKE UP! Your sons are in danger!!! Talk about an adrenalin surge. I woke Oliver, opened our gun safe and grabbed my Glock. Entering our great room I saw a large shadow approaching the door of our sons bedroom. Ordering him to freeze, he turned and I saw the muzzle flash. I immediately returned fire and it was a lethal shot. The intruder was neutralized permanently. Oliver declared a medical emergency as even I didn't realize I had been hit. Within minutes Doc was hovering over me and then the "lights went out"... When I returned to "time and space" a very pissed off doctor told me never to scare him like that again. Your family is demanding to see you and I'll give them five minutes. You don't know how lucky you were.

The next day General Jackson and the 1st Sergeant briefed me on what had happed. The soldier had incapacitated his partner guarding our residence and then proceeded to use his security code to enter our quarters and that is when you challenged him. When we searched his quarters we found a picture of your sons in an Email sent to him saying if they weren't eliminated within 48 hours his parents would be killed. I actually felt a tear run down my face considering the choice given to the soldier. I told General Jackson to have CyberCom to attempt to trace the Email but I felt it was probably a futile task. Under no circumstances were my sons to know the details of this attempt.

I asked for Oliver and our adjutants to see me and I overruled my doctor saying my children come first and always will. "Go clean your thermometers or do something useful but get out of my room!" Explaining the briefing I had just received from General Jackson and the 1st Sergeant I told them I felt we needed to bring men on as their "protectors" long before anyone of us had imagined. They understood and agreed. I asked Oliver to contact our HR team and they would know what we were looking for. Just emphasize them we need the candidates here at Fort Connor YESTERDAY!

I knew Doc wasn't going to let me out of Medical until I was 100% fit and there was no way I would allow such an important decision to be made without my input. So, my demanding Doc was just going to adjust to his "Medical" being used to interview the prospective men for these two most important positions at Fort Connor.

I asked General Jackson to assign Rod and Napoleon to protect our sons 24/7 until we can get men selected. Rod can always tell them Napoleon needs the training and I doubt if they will mind sharing their bed with the furry mutt. Just make sure they have plenty of doggie treats and he'll love them forever. Have Rod sleep with his door open in the adjoining room and I know if anyone enters our sons room without the correct command, well let's just say it won't be a pretty picture.

Now it is time to get the intelligence services into high gear and find out who is trying to kill our sons and why. Seeing how all the intelligence briefings the last six months had us at a very low level of concern it was all apparent they had missed something somewhere. Unless they wanted a six star ass kicking not to mention POTUS ruining their careers they better find some answers and fast.

Dale heard of the situation and immediately contacted SecDef and the Attorney General advising them he was available 24 hours a day and would immediately issue a warrant, just make certain you have probable cause. (Yes, he may have a conflict of interest but he'd cross that bridge after his "family" was out of danger!)

OPS immediately changed the access code to our primary door and programed it to sound a base wide alert if it was opened externally after we set the lock code at night. Any intruder would face a base of armed special forces soldiers who wouldn't hesitate to eliminate any threat to their Generals or their families.

Oliver was working double duty doing both my administrative tasks and his review of base operations. Our adjutants became priceless and so far the kids hadn't realized the true purpose of Napoleon being their constant companion. 1st Sergeant Littlefeater would be getting a letter of commendation in his permanent file as soon as I can tolerate sitting at my desk (and can escape the confines of my dictatorial doctor)!

How I looked forward to the kids rushing from school and I could hear their feet running down the corridor into my room. They would gently hug and kiss me not wanting to cause me any pain. Their love was as good as the morphine drip Doc refused to discontinue. Finally, when Oliver announced our "candidates" would be arriving tomorrow morning I begged Doc to at least reduce the morphine amount as I needed to have a clear head to make this most important decision even if I had to hurt like hell.

Doc agreed to give me three hours a day to review the candidates and then he was returning my drug level to the level he felt I required. Make your selections quick because I won't agree to this for an extended period. I profusely thanked him and he knew I would have gone AWOL over the security of my sons if he had refused to cooperate.

General Jackson, Oliver and our Adjutants initially met with the candidates and gave them an overview of the posting and then an in depth tour of Fort Connor. Oliver met with me over lunch and said HR had selected five outstanding candidates and considering Doc wouldn't be "understanding" for long he was limiting my interview time to one hour each. If all else fails go with your gut when the four of us make the final decisions. Oliver assured me each of the men admitted they were gay, three had no living family and the two with living parents were told to contact their family and discuss the high risk posting they were considering. We'll save those two for last. I know you'll want to meet with the parents if one or both of them are considered for the posting.

I asked Oliver to make certain they interacted with the kids because we would have to discuss this with them before we made our final selection. Their feelings and desires can easily tip the scales with our final decision. This isn't going to be a discussion either of us will enjoy and all four of us have to be unified. I have yet to figure out how to do this without telling them their lives are in danger.

I could tell Doc had reduced the morphine flow as the pain increased and my head started to clear and function at a higher level. It was physically exhausting to have these interviews but there was no way I was going to allow such an important decision to be made without being in on the process. The three men I met the first day were most impressive as were the two I met on day two. I was honest with them when we discussed how their parents felt and the fact their parents were alive didn't improve their chances at selection. You can accuse me of considering my personal feelings but I'm the one who is going to have to tell your parents you died protecting my sons and then present them with the flag off your coffin. As talented a potential candidate as you are for the position I ask you remove yourself from consideration. THEY REFUSED! Damn, they are men of honor and integrity!

I asked Oliver to have our Adjutants and our sons join us tomorrow morning after Doc had reduced my drug flow so I could act like a normal person. It was time to make them aware of what we are doing and ask how they felt. We parents were in shock when our sons told us Roger had had a long discussion with us about what we were doing and they had little chance of changing our mind so accept it as your parents protecting you. Roger wanted us to have a long life with our families and we are so sorry we are the reason you were shot. (Regardless of the pain it caused I had to hug and kiss my sons.)

Now we have to get down to business and discuss the candidates before Doc turns up my meds and I go into "la la land". The boys thought all five men were pretty hot hunks (So much for staying virgins long at Fort Connor) but two of them had fantastic personalities. I thanked them for their wisdom and told them to get back to school and study hard.

We fathers then had to discuss the candidates and the two candidates our son felt were a great personality match were indeed the ones Oliver and the adjutants were incline to accept. I had nothing against any of the five men our HR team had selected and considering the amount of drugs Doc was pumping into me I announced the selections have been made. Please ask each of them one final questions: "Would they take a bullet for either of our sons"? Please extend my regrets to the individuals not selected and to let HR know if they were interested in future openings at Alpha Zulu.

Get the deep dive background check on our two candidates and then off to get fitted for their ballistic armor and new uniforms. If you haven't told them the posting comes with the rank of "Captain" try to keep it a secret so we can announce it to them as a family. Go tell Doc I won't complain if he turns my med back up to high and thank him for being considerate for one of the few times in his career.

Oh, was I going to pay for that last remark considering the physical therapy he would put me though after he discharged me from his intensive care. Even considering all the pain I would do it all over again if it meant protecting my children. Yes, only one of them is my legal son but both are and always will be my sons in my heart, mind and soul.

Oliver and I felt and treated our Adjutants as our family and no distinction was made between sons. They knew they would face the wrath of each of the four of us equally if we caught them breaking any rules. The price they pay for having four concerned individuals and one roaming spirit that wouldn't let them get away with anything.

Finally, when Doc released me back to my quarters with a multitude of restrictions that every man on base would enforce... Logan and Alex requested permission to visit with Oliver and me at Fort Connor. The discussion would definitely give me a new outlook on life... while I had been under the tender and loving care of Doc (NOT!) their technicians, scientists, physicists, every discipline of their "brain trust" had reviewed all of the data collected, inspected the orphanage with every test imaginable and their combined analysis that nothing from the this universe known to science could cause this phenomenon. There way of saying Roger could be a spirit from beyond the grave. Unless you want the Chaplain to arrange for an exorcism we suggest you thank Roger the next time he visits for all the good work he does. Now it is time for one of your great Fort Connor meals and we both are famished. When do we get to meet these two hunks you have selected to be the imps protectors? Alex punched Logan and told him to keep his eyes on the hunk he married, no one else!

I introduced Logan and Alex to our sons David and Lawrence who immediately corrected me saying his name was Larry. Telling our sons to let our guest go first they immediately apologized for their rudeness. (I was impressed!) As our guests assured us they needed to return to the corporate world of Worthington Industries I asked them whether they wanted to tell the orphanage administrator or did they want Oliver and I do ruin his day. Actually, they felt this was a job for Angus, which definitely wasn't in his job description or pay grade. Wishing them the best I retired to a few hours of paperwork followed by an exhaustive nap. It was going to take some time before I was back to 100% and every man on base would enforce Doc's dictums to the letter. I finally accepted: "RESISTANCE IS FUTILE!"

A few weeks later Logan again contacted me and informed me he now knew why someone was trying to kill the kids. He asked me to contact the head of Army JAG and have a senior JAG officer on base for a conference with his Worthington Attorney team. Give me a hint what this is about... NADA! This is classified until we can get a plan in place to protect everyone.

With all the attorneys, Logan, Alex Oliver, our adjutants and I present I was shocked when Logan asked us to excuse our adjutants. I REFUSED! These men are our family and would give their lives for our sons. If they go so do Oliver and I! (END OF DISCUSSION!) Logan assured us every intelligence agency insisted they assessed the threat level "VERY LOW" so we looked at other scenarios. We did background checks on each of your sons and normally only go back one generation considering all their parents and relatives were deceased. This time we went back as far as possible and did we find a reason to want them dead... actually $50,000,000,000.00 USD reasons for wanting them dead. David's great-great-great-great-great-grandfather was one of the "Robber Barons" who lived quietly and avoided the media of the day. (One of the great "profiteers" left over from our Civil War.) David's "grandfather" had a falling out with their great-great-great-great-great-grandfather and told him to take his money and where to shove it. His father was never aware of the trust that had been established for the heirs of his "grandfather" and now David is the only living relative who can lay claim to this multi-billion dollar trust. We had Doc do a DNA swab and the tests prove without any doubt your son is one rich kid.

Now the question remains do we petition the court to award this trust to David and if so he now will have $50,000,000,000.00 USD bullseye. Why don't the six of us take a walk and let the attorney discuss the options and ramifications. I know you must be in as much shock as Alex and I were when we learned of this news. Considering you aren't awarded permanent custody for another month we have to consider all the options and that is best left to the legal minds to consider all the options. The JAG attorney will protect your interests and the Worthington attorney's will protect the interests of your son. Let them do their thing and we'll go back and listen to their recommendations.

Oliver and I looked at Logan and Alex and simply asked who benefits if David were to be killed. The trust goes in its entirety to "The Knights of the Golden Circle" who would inherit the money so they are the only ones who could conceivable benefit other than the administrators of the trust. They make millions of dollars annually doing minimum of work. (Great motivation for keeping the trust as part of their business.)

Late that afternoon the attorney's asked us to rejoin them and they laid out the options before us. Their first concern was to have the adoption formalized immediately and if the orphanage was in agreement this could be done with a minimum of attention. Once the Worthington attorney's filed with the courts to have David made the heir of the trust it would be a media circus. Would we the parents be willing to agree to the money being put in a blind trust and us not having any access to it. I looked at Oliver and we both knew the answer. We loved David for being David whether he was rich or poor he would always be our son.

We would need to make full disclosure to the judge in chambers and ask that the adoption proceedings be sealed until the trust battle proceeded through the courts which everyone knew would be long and involved. The JAG attorney would represent our interests as Army Officers and the Worthington Attorneys would represent David's interests.

Oliver and I looked at each other and we both knew these six stars on our shoulders would be a media circus at times but we now had no idea of what the future held for us and our family. We immediately asked for a meeting with SecDef and POTUS and apraise them of the developments. If it came to a choice between our sons and our "stars" we would resign our commission as officers in the United States Army.

POTUS and SecDef other than being shocked assured us they had full faith in us and our judgement and knew our only reason for adopting David was to give him the best life possible. Do what is best for David and your family and they'll have our back all the way.

Now we had to tell our son the cruel facts of life and that men wanted to kill him because of money he didn't even know existed. The assurance of the President of the United States that every resource of the military would be utilized to protect any military dependent threatened with harm and that included David.

The Orphanage administrator was in shock when his meeting with Angus and the revelation the Worthington Brain Trust could find no explanation for the specter of Roger. He was even more shocked when we followed up asking for an immediate determination and finalization on David's adoption. He would schedule it for 0900 hours Monday.

Before the Orphanage could start the review for final placement the County Sheriff burst in and presented a court injunction as to final placement of the minor child. Also, stating the child was to be taken into custody by the Sheriff. I immediately informed the Sheriff David was a military dependent and unless he wanted an armed conflict with my security team we best let the attorneys argue this out in court. The Sheriff refused to back down and I played my trump card. Requesting an immediate conversation with POTUS he assured me the Governor would be in immediate contact with the Sheriff. A very contrite Sheriff removed himself from the office and I thanked POTUS for his assistance. Now, the attorneys had a starting point to find out who was after David's money and to what lengths they would go to obtain it.

The court proceedings were closed but still were a circus. Starting with a Sheriff with a bent ego, a county prosecutor trying to enforce the court order, the Assistant United States Attorney representing the government and any national security issues, the JAG attorney representing Oliver and I and the Worthington Attorney team representing David. The first motion was to have this moved to a federal court considering all the national security issues: DENIED which would immediately be appealed. This is how it went for days, motion after motion which definitely kept some well paid attorneys receiving a big year old bonus check. Finally, after a suggestion from Dale to the State Judicial Tenure Commission to review the actions of the presiding judge, the judge "stayed" his initial order and remanded the case to federal court. Finally, we could see the light at the end of the tunnel.

The federal judge made it clear to everyone his first concern was for the safety of David and after being "read in" on Fort Connor and the Alpha Zulu program he couldn't conceive of a safer environment for David and he would remain in the custody of his temporary guardians. The lower court order of custody was squashed! ROUND ONE TO THE GOOD GUYS!

As to permanent custody of David he would hear arguments the next day why permanent custody shouldn't be granted to Oliver and I. It was obvious by the vetting process for us being appointed to our high rank that it would be most difficult to impugn our credibility. But, I'm certain someone will try and then we will know who to start looking at trying to kill David.

The court was most impressed with our voluntarily agreeing to put David's money in a blind trust only to be used for medical expenses and education expenses unless approved by the court until he was of legal age. The judge could see no reason why Oliver and I shouldn't be granted permanent status as the parents of David provided he approved. Yes, yes and YES... resounded from our son... "respectfully your honor"! The attorneys for the current trust did their best to convince the judge they had made wise investments and increased the size of the trust immensely over the years. Leaving the trust with them was the best financial consideration. Considering someone was trying to kill this young man and the motives of their firm had to be considered the judge ordered the trust placed under the supervision of the court effectively immediately. Knowing the history and integrity of the Worthington Foundation our attorney group was in complete agreement with their assuming the role of managing David's trust and making regular reports to the court on its status. CASE DISMISSED!

Just when we thought life could finally return to normal, exiting the courthouse a series of shots rang out, two state police troopers were struck, three federal marshals wounded and two of our Alpha Zulu security as they rush us to the Beast and thrust us inside. Apparently, someone still wanted their pound of flesh and the threat to David's life still existed. We were to learn if David had died before the judge filed his decision it would have been mute and the existing firm would have continued to manage the trust. Perhaps this was the last ditch effort but no risk would be taken.

None of us four fathers would breathe easy till we were secure back at Fort Connor. I had General Jackson put the base on Tactical Alert until we can determine what was next. Our two "protectors" had passed their deep dive security check and found new black BDUs on their bed compliments of the men of Alpha Zulu. We informed them that qualifying with their Glocks, Uzi, SAW and Mini Gun was a top priority. Use what little free time remains to get to know your charge as a person and try to have some fun with him. They need to love you like a brother and if you are ever in doubt as to what to do my order to both of us is to treat them as you would treat your little brother.

David was in shock when we had to tell him how much money he was worth. Even more in shock when he found out he was richer than Logan, Alex, and T&T COMBINED! I reminded my sons they would still end up bare assed over my knee with appropriate motivate applied by my hand to their bare ass if they screwed up. Both sons only rushed forward and gently hugged and kissed their "old man". I was so proud of them.

We have a favor to ask Dads, actually two favors. #1 Can you have 1st Sergeant Alexander return to sleeping with 1st Sergeant Rod so Larry and I don't wake up smelling like "DOG" in the morning and have to rush through another shower so we can be presentable. #2 Now that our protectors are here, will you put twin beds in two of the bedrooms so they can be with us at night. Roger told us it had been done before and we really like the two guys you selected. I smiled at my sons, hugged them again and told them it would be done as soon as possible.

The intelligence agencies were startled when asked to work up the status and risk of "The Knights of the Golden Circle". They haven't been a problem in the last 100 years but following an Executive Order they knew they best have due diligence or find a new career.

To the surprise of every agency it was announced the organization still exists though highly secretive and deep underground. It will be a major task to infiltrate them and determine their motivation. Be prepared for a long siege because these radical groups never seem to be killed off.

The attorneys for David advised us they were going back to court with this new information. Combined with the facts from an initial audit of the trust it appears hundreds of millions of dollar had been used to provide for high end perks for the trust administrators over the years. The auditors had brought this to the attention of the Security and Exchange Commission which has launched an investigation into the firm's operation and conduct. We still can't rule them out as the cause of the threat to your sons.

We are asking the court for permission to relocate the Worthington Foundation accountants that are overseeing David's trust here to Fort Connor. Naturally, every man will have a deep dive security check and knowing your concerns for security here I would expect them confined to a restricted area unless accompanied by a member of your security team. I don't expect to have many happy accountants if the judge approves our request.

Our sons were so excited when their protectors new uniforms arrived and they begged us if they could present them and have their two protectors sworn in at evening retreat. We had enough time I could request General Jackson to make our evening retreat "formal" and our sons were as excited as I have ever seen them.

Rushing home from school with their "protector" in tow they handed them their new dress uniform still in the bag and told them to change and they wanted a private modeling session for their "hunks ala-cart". They both blushed and thought this was an easy request to complete until they opened their uniform bag to find the uniform of an Army Captain. As both men returned and tried to explain to our sons they had been given the wrong uniform, Oliver and I entered our quarters and smiling like two Cheshire cats informed our "hunks ala-cart" we neglected to tell you the posting came with an increase in rank. I hope you two are ready to take your Oath of Commission at retreat tonight. The entire base is waiting for you two to show up so I suggest you get your collective asses in high gear.

Two proud little imps walked to retreat proudly holding the hand of their "big brother". We fathers looked at each other and prayed we had made the correct decision for our sons and their future. Only time would tell if we were being too over protective, but considering we wanted to lock them away in the imps bunker until they were adults this was the best compromise available to us.

Over summer break we had a small construction crew assemble a prefab post and beam edifice which will house our trust accounting team. We urged SD and Angus to only assign single accountants with no family to this detail for the safety of their men. A state of the art accounting center quickly became apparent with very comfortable living accommodations for the accounting team. Designated "OFF LIMITS" to anyone not authorized, it was a hardened structure and definitely safe for the accounting staff if we were attacked. Also, it had double entry security requiring a hand print and iris scan for entry. The only significant improvement in our normal infrastructure was a major increase in our internet speed which received no objection from anyone on base especially our imps. I threatened our IT team with a career ending court martial if they failed to configure our firewalls adequately. If we get hacked you won't be able to get a job as a service tech for the Best Buy Geek Squad.

After the Security and Exchange Commission started their investigation they suspended the license of the group who originally had control of David's trust. When their report reached the Assistant United States Attorney criminal procedures were implemented and all assets of the firm were sold to address the embezzled monies from David's Trust. The major "partners" who were found guilty of using the trust for person gain had their personal assets frozen and sold to reimburse the trust. When all the dust settled, even after attorney and accounting fees David's trust received an increase of over $100,000,000.00 USD. The poor kid had barely reached puberty and he was one of the richest people in the United States. It was our responsibility as parents to raise him and help him to understand with great wealth comes great responsibility.

I was so proud of my son when he turned of age and gained full control of his trust. Two of the first things he did was establish a 100,000,000.00 USD trust which the Chaplain could use the interest to help any Alpha Zulu Soldier in need. SD made certain the money was well invested and the trust would benefit soldier well beyond our lifetime. The second major use of his trust money was to fund a "Military Medicine Residence" at Fort Connor so Doc could always have available talented help and we could have a large selection of trained individuals when the time came for Doc to retire.

David made good use of his money and motivated a lot of politicians. He was responsible to have legislation passed making the Alpha Zulu Base Commander, Assistant Base Commander, Medical Director and Chaplain a four star posting. The Base Adjutant would be a three star posting. David was proud of Alpha Zulu and he wanted the men to know how much he appreciated all they did to raise him and give him the best values to help him face his future life.

David never failed to impress me when he told POTUS he was refusing to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom until he was older than when Dale had received it. He would do nothing to detract from the great contributions Dale had made to this country.

One of the proudest moments in the lives of Oliver and myself was when after graduating from Harvard David announced he was building a state of the art Orphanage to replace the antiquated one where he lived after his parents died. It would triple the capacity for needy children and he gave the orphanage an endowment that would allow for increased staff and services to the needy children. We were pleased to add our six stars to the guests when David dedicated the orphanage.

Yes, great things were in the future for my sons and his partner but for the moment we fathers had to laugh as he and Larry walked with his fathers and protectors to morning flag raising. I whispered to Oliver should we tell him he has dried cum in his hair. Oliver only smiled and said: "Why ruin the moment and watch and see which one of his `brothers' embarrasses him with the all too obvious." These are the moments we fathers will embarrass our sons as we spoil our grandkids.

We four fathers had to have a closed door conference with our son's protectors telling them there job description didn't include stopping our sons from being normal boys with healthy sexuality. Unless it deals with their health and safety we don't want to know what our sons are doing sexually. If our sons initiate sex with anyone so long as it is consensual we don't need to know about it. If they ask you a question about their sexual development or a sexual act if you don't feel comfortable addressing it you can refer them to Doc or the Chaplain and of course encourage them to ask us. We will never be judgmental and only want the best for our sons and for their future.

When Oliver and I approached the men on base and candidly asked them when and how their fathers talked with them about sex 90% of them told us their fathers avoided the subject like the plague. What they learned they did from their friends. We are not that type of fathers and we will always love our sons regardless of their sexual orientation. Other than security consideration we have always been totally honest with our sons and will continue to be. All four of us are always available to answer any question you have or to provide you with any guidance. We asked you to treat them as your "little brothers" not to be their fathers. We will never neglect that role in the development of our sons.

Our sons took to their physical conditioning with a vengeance and I had to smile as Oliver and I watched them look at their physique in the mirror. Yes, we had a couple of young studs and they would break plenty of hearts (straight and gay) as they matured.

Our sons didn't know if they were straight or gay but they definitely like to get naked and enjoy a few orgasms by every means possible. It was obvious the night they gave up their anal cherry to each other as they did the "walk of shame" to morning flag raising with six adults remember back to their youthful days. Both sons were shocked to find a tube of lube and a tube of Doc's super lube in their night stand when they went to bed that night. They hugged and kissed their dads and protectors telling us we were the best.

It had been a long time since Roger had visited our bedroom during the middle of the night. Oliver and I awoke to the sound of our names being gently called. Roger was hovering over our bed and commented on what a great job we were doing as parents. He would never be far away but for now David and Larry needed us fathers and their protectors to fully become productive men of business in today's society.

General Allen, General Allman and General LongDick send their highest compliments and to tell you they couldn't have done a better job. Remember, I'll always be close by if and when you need me. Roger faded to oblivion and we felt so inadequate and alone.

I looked at Oliver and told him I needed to love him. We kissed passionately and for one of the few times since I had been shot we shared intense physical love like two passionate teenage lovers out of control. Yes, Oliver got a 14 days "Out of Order" posted to his ass and Doc gave me one of his patented ass chewing stating I wasn't healthy enough yet for this strenuous exertion. Try it again and I'll put you on a suicide watch. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Our sons held our hands as we walked to breakfast and hugged us telling us they had heard what Doc told us. Actually, the entire base heard what Doc told us. He had his wrist com ON so there was no doubt to anyone. We both want you around for a long time so listen to Doc, he may be difficult and a "hard ass" at times but he loves you as much as we do. Don't make us post a security detail outside of your bedroom because you know we will.

Oliver and I hugged our sons and told them we would be good "little generals"... just never stop loving us. You two are the greatest gift we have received in life.
