Chapter 38 - Disappointed

That evening, they all had a nice barbecue on the patio. Mr. Thomas really did know how to make burgers and all the fixings. It was simple, but nice to have everyone together.

"Son, I'm sorry about being so focused on Lincoln to not pay attention to you. I can't lose you. I want to get to know you, really get to know my son."

"Thank you dad, but this is all I've known. I guess I don't really know much about you outside the foundation. I forgot how cool your house is."

"You mean your house, Ethan, don't you get it? This is your house, for you and your boys."

"But, dad, I can't just take it. What about you."

"Well, I'd like to stay here until you're healed, but if you don't mind, I'll take your house. It's closer to the foundation and it's smaller. I don't need all this space. As long as I can go to my meditation spot when I need it."

"But, I can't take this dad, it means so much to you."

"Not as much as you and my grandson's do. When I saw how Andrew and Timmy were getting along, I pictured Lincoln carrying you on his back. I realize that you lost your big brother and you also lost me. I'm going to do what I can to keep those boys together, and to make sure you and I get closer. I screwed up in many ways, son."

Mr. Thomas pulled Ethan in tight and hugged him. He wasn't sure about this kissing thing, so he just hugged and held Ethan and rubbed his back.

This was comforting to Ethan, and he felt for the first time, that he could let his guard down with his dad. He started to tear up.

"Dad, I hope we can get to know each other. That you can get to know the boys. I've missed having a father, but I didn't know what to do."

Ethan still wasn't quite sure about the grandson's comment or how that would get explained, but decided he would leave that for later.

Mr. Thomas and Ethan moved into the front room.

Timmy held Andrew back while the adults went into the house. "I have to tell you something."

"What?"

"Joey told me that he knew I would be able to be your brother."

"What? How does he know that?"

"He said he heard Alejandro and his dad talking and they mentioned me. I don't know what that meant, but he said he was sure I would be your brother."

"When was this?"

"When I told him that they found Ethan and that he would be OK."

"That's strange. I wonder how they can know that. Let's go inside."

The boys went in and joined them.

"Andrew, enough of calling me Mr. Thomas. I would be honored if you called me either an affectionate name like Timmy does, or by my first name. You can call me bapa, grandpa, whatever you like."

"Would it be OK if I called you dad?"

"Um, sure, I guess. Ethan, is that OK with you?"

"Sure, why not." Ethan wasn't even thinking about it. After all, to Ethan, Andrew was his partner, not his son. It didn't even register that Mr. Thomas had expected Andrew to call Ethan dad, not him.

"Well, if you're fine with it, I am too. I just don't want to have any confusion."

The night was getting late, so they turned in. Mr. Thomas was going to sit in the recliner before heading to the guest room, and the other three went to Ethan's new bedroom.

Ethan's Room

Ethan stripped down to get into bed. Timmy just stood there staring at the naked man in front of him. Ethan realized that the boy was just staring. "Um, sorry Timmy, but I sleep naked, is that OK?"

Timmy jarred his eyes away from Ethan's cock to look up. "Sure, can I sleep nekkid too?"

"Why not little bro. But why don't you go out and talk with Bapa for a bit. Ethan and I need some alone time. You understand, right?" Andrew added as he stripped down.

"Sure big brother, I get it. Come get me when you're ready for bed."

Timmy padded down the hall to find Mr. Thomas sitting in the recliner. Timmy just climbed up and sat in his lap. He didn't say a thing, just hugged his Bapa.

Back in Ethan's Room

"Ethan, I've been waiting for this for so long. Being without you and fearing you were dead just tore me up. Would you please make love to me again? Slow, easy, just loving me?"

"I thought you would never ask. I've missed you so much."

With Ethan's injuries, he wasn't going to be able to have a wild passionate session, but he cuddled up behind Andrew and spooned him.

"That was pretty slick getting Timmy out of here. He really does like my dad."

"He already believes we are a family, and Ethan, why not? I just don't know how to explain us to him."

"It's not him I'm worried about, it's my dad. I don't know how he will take it or how we tell him."

"Does he really need to know?"

"I guess he doesn't, at least not now."

"Right, we have more important things to do. I need you Ethan, breed me and make me yours. We have to make up for missed opportunities. "Andrew handed the lube to his man and Ethan quickly got to work.

This position was different than the one before dinner, but it was easier for Ethan to handle. Andrew was still stretched from earlier, and things went a lot smoother this time.

A couple of times, Ethan had to put his hand over Andrew's mouth to keep him quiet. Andrew shot his load all over the sheets which triggered Ethan to fill him up again. As Ethan shot, he let out a squeal.

Timmy heard the squeal and ran down the hall and burst through the door. Andrew had forgotten to lock it.

"What are you two doing?" Timmy asked.

"This is just like when you and I cuddled in the hospital." Andrew told Timmy.

"Why did Ethan scream?"

"Oh, well, I hit a sore spot that made him scream." Actually, it was him hitting Andrew's spot, but Timmy doesn't need the details. He already knows the fun of playing with wieners.

"Andrew, you left a gooey mess. I'll go get a washcloth." Timmy acted like this was just normal.

"Don't tell Bapa about this, please."

"Don't tell Bapa, what?" They heard from the door. Mr. Thomas was standing there, staring at the two in bed, smelling the sex in the air.

"Dad!" Ethan screamed, as he jumped out of bed. He realized that was a mistake, as he had cum on the end of his still semi hard cock.

"Son, get back in bed. We will discuss this later." He shook his head and walked to his bedroom and slammed the door.

"Fuck, fuck, fuck! I'm so dead. Fuck!" Ethan just paced. Timmy had gotten the washcloth and was cleaning up Andrew and the mess. Andrew didn't know what to do. He got out of bed, put on his clothes and left the room. Ethan didn't see him leave, he was so upset at getting caught by his dad. Ethan cleaned himself up with Timmy's help.

"Daddy, what's wrong?" He kept asking, but Ethan wasn't responding to him. He just kept muttering "Fuck, fuck, fuck. I'm dead. Shit."

Ethan pulled on some shorts and went down the hall to his dad's room. He banged on the door. "Dad! Dad! Can we talk!"

"No son, go away."

"But dad, I can explain!"

"Go away, I'm very disappointed in you!"

There was silence. Ethan put his back to the door, and slid down sitting on the floor with his back to the door.

"But dad! Don't do this. This is what you did to Linc. Please, give me a chance to explain!"

"Explain? You're taking advantage of a poor kid that was selling himself on the street. Do you really love him? Or is he just fun to fuck. I thought I raised you better!"

"You didn't fucking raise me dad, I raised myself after you pushed Linc away. Go ahead, call the cops on me dad, why not lose me too. Fuck off!"

Ethan stood up only to see Timmy bawling in a fetal position in the doorway of their bedroom. He was holding his iPad. Ethan went over to him and as frustrated, scared and angry as he was, he couldn't bear to see this little boy in pain. He picked Timmy up, carried him to the bed and cuddled him. "Shh, it's going to be ok Timmy, we can fix this."

"But... Bapa... is upset." Timmy got out between sobs.

"Why would he call the cops on you? What did you do?"

Ethan pulled the iPad out of Timmy's hands. He saw the text to Joey. "Help! Everyone is screaming." Was all it said. The message was delivered, but not read.

"Timmy, do you know what Andrew and I were doing?"

"You were cuddling."

"Right, but, well, I love Andrew and he loves me."

"I know, and I love you both."

"Timmy, I love you too, but Andrew and I have something special, like a mommy and daddy have. The problem is, that people think it's wrong for us to have that kind of love. They don't understand."

"But, I know you have special love with Andrew. Why is it wrong?"

"It shouldn't be, but it is."

"Will Bapa be OK?"

"I don't know, son, I hope so."

Ethan just rocked back and forth holding Timmy. Timmy stopped sobbing and Ethan enjoyed having a little boy and not a partner. He could feel the difference being a dad vs. being a partner. "Timmy, it's all going to be OK. Is it OK if I call you son?"

"Yeah, daddy, is it ok for me to call you daddy?"

"I love it, kiddo."

They rocked for a bit and Timmy's iPad beeped with an incoming message. It was from Joey. Timmy grabbed it and opened the message.

Joey: "RUOK?"

Timmy: "Yes, daddy stopped fighting with Bapa."

Joey: "K if U need help LMK"

Timmy: "K"

Timmy put the iPad on the nightstand and hugged and kissed Ethan. He was careful not to hurt his face.

"Let's go find Andrew and let him know things will be OK."

"What do you mean find him?"

"He ran out the back door"

`What? When?"

"While I was cleaning you up. I heard the door slam."

"Fuck, sorry son, Dad, now you've done it. Andrew ran. Are you proud of yourself? He ran because of what you said, not because you saw us."

Ethan grabbed a shirt and slid on some shoes. He held Timmy's hand as they walked to the back door. As they passed Mr. Thomas' room they could hear him crying. In the kitchen, they saw a cupboard open and the fridge door was still open. Ethan swung it shut and they went out to the back yard. Andrew wasn't there. They walked around the house, again, he wasn't there. The van was parked out front. Where could Andrew be.

"I know, maybe he took the UTV." Timmy tugged Ethan toward where the UTV is parked. It was still there.

"Andrew, please come out."

Nothing. It was strangely silent.

"Andrew! Please!!!" They both yelled.

Nothing.

It was pitch dark out. How far could Andrew have gone.

"Timmy, do you know what he was wearing?"

"He grabbed some black shorts and a blue tee."

Ethan lifted Timmy onto the UTV and figured out how to turn it on and get the lights fired up. Thankfully being on the farm his dad had put a full light bar on the thing.

"Where did you go with Bapa?"

"We went that way, I think. There's a big tree. We went there."

"I remember that, good thinking. I'll bet he walked there."

They drove carefully down to the tree. When they got there, there was no sign of Andrew. There was an empty bottle of Fanta and some wrappers there. Andrew had definitely been there. But now where would he go?

Ethan had to stop and think. He sort of remembered the place, but wasn't too sure where he would go.

"Where else did you go?"

"We drove through the cow field thingie and saw where the little cabin is."

"Oh, right, the farm house." Ethan drove them out toward the farm house and barn. They knocked on the door and they were greeted but the farmer hadn't seen Andrew. They all went over to the barn, thinking maybe Andrew would go there for the night, but he wasn't there.

They drove back to the house, Ethan nearly crashed the UTV into the house he was so upset. He went down to his dad's room and pounded on the door.

"He's fucking gone! Are you happy now, dad? Just like Linc. He's probably going to end up dead."

No response came from behind the door.

"Dad! Fucking answer me."

No response.

Ethan barreled through the door. It splintered off the frame and crashed to the floor.

On the desk was a note. It simply said, "I'm sorry, please forgive me."

Next to it was an open gun safe. An empty box of 9mm ammo was all that remained in the safe.

"Timmy, I'm sorry you've heard all the swearing I've been doing. I'm going to call Sarah to see if she can come out and stay with you. I need to find Andrew and Bapa."

Grabbing his phone, he called Sarah, "Hi, it's Ethan, we have a situation. I know it's late and I wouldn't ask but this is urgent. Can you come to my dad's and stay with Timmy. Things are bad. I need you."

"Sure, um, I'm on my way."

"I'll leave the gate open."

He called the chief next, "Chief, we have a situation and I was wondering if I have any favor's left."

"Sure, Ethan, what's up?"

"Too much to explain, but Andrew got spooked thinking my dad was upset with him and he's run away. To top it off, my dad left a note, saying he's sorry, and his gun and ammo are missing. I have no idea what's going on, but if you could find any of the guys to come help, I would appreciate it. I am more worried about Andrew than my dad, but we need to find them both. I just hope my dad hasn't done something stupid."

"I'll round up our guys and call in a favor over at the Ranger station. They have a search and rescue team, they're usually playing cards since there's not much action this time of year. I'll send them by. Stay put, you hear me? We need you to stay put and follow orders this time."

"I promise, Chief."

Ethan was trying to think of where Andrew would have gone, and where his dad would have gone. The UTV and the van were still there, so neither of them could have gone far.

Within a few minutes, there were sirens approaching the ranch. Ethan hit the gate switch for them and Sarah. The search and rescue SUVs pulled up to the house.

"That was quick." He told the guy as they introduced themselves.

"Our station is just a mile down the road, we're neighbors."

"Well, here's the situation." Ethan explained that Andrew ran, Ethan's dad felt guilty and left the note and disappeared himself.

"Got it." The Search and Rescue team all got orders and fanned out from the ranch. They left Ethan a radio so they could communicate.

Sarah arrived. Timmy was hiding in his room. Sarah went in to find him. "Hi, Timmy."

"Hi, Ms. Sarah."

"Come sit with me." She said and held her hand out to take Timmy to the family room.

"It's all my fault." Timmy whispered.

"What?"

"I said, it's all my fault."

"Why would you say that?"

"Because, I was all happy for daddy and Andrew to have some cuddle time and Bapa got upset. He said he was disappointed and slammed his door. I don't know what they did wrong. They were just cuddling."

"That doesn't make sense, but I'm sure things will be OK."

Just then, they heard a loud crash come from the kitchen where Ethan was. They ran in to find Ethan had collapsed and knocked a chair over and was laying on the ground looking stupid.

"What happened?" Sarah cried out.

"I can't lose my dad again, and I can't live without Andrew."

Sarah and Timmy just got on the floor and held him. The radio on the table had some chatter back and forth as the men searched the area.

"Is the dad suicidal, or just protecting himself?" They overheard.

"We don't know, but he feels responsible for the boy running." Another voice said.

*** Under the Oak Tree

As the search team returned to the Oak Tree, they noticed a mountain lion just sitting on the ground sniffing the empty Fanta bottle. When it saw them, it snarled at them. As it charged, one of the officers had no choice but to put it down.

As the animal fell, they heard a "Thank God!" Come from the tree. Mr. Thomas and Andrew were up on a branch. Mr. Thomas' gun was on the ground at the base of the tree.

"We'll help you guys down." They helped the two down.

"I had a choice, save Andrew or kill that thing. I lifted Andrew up, the lion charged me. I was so frazzled I missed. The entire magazine emptied and I missed. He came at me and Andrew reached down and was able to grab my arm. I don't know how he did it, but he held on as I scrambled up the tree."

"Team 4 to base, copy?"

A female voice came on, it was Sarah."Base here, its Sarah."

"Both subjects have been located, repeat, both subjects located. No injuries except for pride. They'll have a story to tell you when we get back. Can someone bring the UTV out to the old oak tree?"

"Sure, we will bring it out."

Ethan was now sitting up and getting excited. He grabbed Timmy and they ran to the UTV and headed to pick up their family.

When they got there they realized there are only 4 seats and 6 people. Ethan moved over and had Andrew sit on his lap. Mr. Thomas had Timmy and the two rescue team took the remaining seats with one driving.

They got back to the house and Sarah greeted them along with the chief and the other search team.
