As I approached the open doorway into the building, I noticed that Dale was standing there, looking as if he were waiting for someone. He didn't look any to happy, but all the years I've known him since grade school, he's always been a pessimist. `Oh well, I'm going with Blaine tonight; I'm not letting anything get me down,' I thought as I turned the corner. "Hey Jerry, is that the sugar daddy with the `Vette you been talking about?" he asked as he fell into step with me. "Yeah..." I responded slowly, wondering why he was puttin' him down like that; he hasn't even met him. "Well... the way you're acting, and... ahh... after what I'd just seen happen out there on the deck... well... ahh..." he stammered. "Look Dale, if you've got something to say, then just spit it out." I was starting to get a little pissed at all this; especially after being spied on. I spun the combination and opened my locker as Dale did the same with his. He sighed and then looked around to see if anyone else was close. "Jerry, what do you really know about this guy? You've known him what... one day?" he asked. I just looked at him as I peeled off my Speedo and grabbed my towel. At first, I was kinda worried about showin' off a hard-on, but Dale's conversation took care of that for me. I slammed the locker door shut and stomped off toward the shower, knowing full well that Dale'd follow me since he was out of his suit too. As I stepped into the half full shower, I looked around and picked one on the far corner. I stepped up to the showerhead and cranked the tap to full hot. Just as I had expected, Dale came over next to me carrying his soap and shampoo and turned on the adjacent shower. "Jerry, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to get you pissed at me," Dale apologized, and I could see in his eyes that he really meant it. As he started to soap up, I remembered that in my haste, I had forgotten mine. "Can I use your soap when you're done; I ... ahh... I forgot mine," I asked sheepishly. He looked up at me and grinned, knowing that I couldn't stay mad at him for long. He'd just gotten through soaping his ass crack and his balls, grinned from ear to ear, and held the soap bar out to me. "You bitch," I said grinning back at him, knowing that he wasn't worried about it. It wasn't the first time we'd had closer contact than that to each other, and sharing the soap that he'd just washed his butt with was nothing new. "Jerry, we've known each other forever... and we've even shared the same guys sometimes, remember," he jogged my memory back to the few times we'd had three-ways with other guys, and then continued. "I just don't want to see you get hurt." I looked up at him, and all I could see was the love in his eyes that I knew he had for me. It was what we'd shared with each other over the years of being beaten up by our fathers. We would hold each other when we were too young to know that it was just the alcohol that caused them to hit us, and not that we'd done anything to start it. We loved each other better than most brothers, but it wasn't a `relationship' type of love. "Yeah, I know Dale, but why did you say that about Blaine? You haven't even met him yet," I asked. "Well, last week was the first time you met him right?" he asked, and I nodded, remembering that we'd talked about me meeting this guy at the store that drove a new T-Bird. Since I had a car, Dale and I spent a lot of time talking about everything as we drove to school together and to and from the swim club when I could make it. "And you told me Saturday night that you were looking forward to goin' over to his house yesterday, right?" Again I nodded, wondering just what he was getting at. "And he wants you to go over there again tonight right? That's why you gave him the kiss." `Wow, he's been watching me close. I guess what Blaine said about me having all these people watching out for me is really true,' I thought as I washed the chlorine off. Dale took the opportunity of the lull in our conversation to shampoo that mop of hair he insists on keeping, so I just started thinking more about what he was actually trying to warn me about. `Blaine's a nice guy, but so was Jeffery Dahmer. After all, I really didn't know much about him. Maybe he's just one of those guys that wanted to get me over there after dark... No, Blaine's not like that.' "Shit, now I'm getting as paranoid as you are Dale," I tried to laugh it off, but my head was just going around in circles. "Well, a little paranoia is a lot better than dead in a ditch somewhere. C'mon Jerry, if this guy's as good as all that, what's he want with someone like us? You know what our lives are like... hell, he could have his pick of any of the guys up on Capitol Hill," he said as he was rinsing off the shampoo. We both had been thinking about making some money by selling it up around the Capitol Building where all the `guys for sale' hang out. We'd cruised by there several times looking at what we'd have to compete with, and we knew that most of those boys who went with state senators and the people who work around there were waaay out of our league. "Yeah... you're right Dale, what would anybody like him want with the likes of us? Hell, I hafta work at the grocery store just to get anything extra." My good feelings from earlier were going down the drain as fast as the remnants from our shower. We turned off the showers and headed to the doorway to dry off. After getting most of the water dried off, we walked back over to our lockers and sat on the bench. "Sorry to bring you down, dude," Dale said as he patted my leg while we sat close. I could see in his eyes that he was really concerned about me. "That's ok bro; you were just getting me back into my own world. You're right, I do need to be careful; and you saw him, the build that guy's got could break me in half," I joked as I reached for my boxers. "The only problem is that I already told him I was gonna go over to his place. Now what do I tell him?" "Well, I need a ride home -- if you're heading that way, and you can tell him that something came up. Look Jerry, all I'm saying is to take it slow. If he's for real, he'll still be there. It just seems kinda strange that he followed you here today. I mean, you didn't even spend the night, right?" And he gave me a friendly hug around my shoulders. We finished getting dressed, threw our wet things inside our gym bags, and slowly headed to the check-out desk to turn in our locks. I sure hoped that Blaine would understand, and not be too mad at me. `Oh shit,' I thought when I saw Jerry come through the door to the locker room accompanied by another boy about his own age. `Something's happened, and it looks like Jerry's having a hell of a time trying to back out on coming over tonight. Hell, the poor kid looks like he's going through hell right now. Damn, it was a bad idea for me to come here,' I thought as I saw the boys approach. I held the door open for them, and Jerry gave me a half smile as we headed out the door. "Jerry, if I've said or done anything to upset you, I'm sorry. I sure didn't mean--" "Nah, that's not it Blaine, it's just that Dale here reminded me that I told my mom that I'd run some errands for her tonight, that's all," he interrupted. I knew instantly that what he'd just said wasn't the whole thing. I stopped and reached a hand over to his shoulder stopping him on the walkway toward our cars. "Jerry... ahh... I take it that this is Dale?" I asked, looking at the dark haired boy standing with us. "Ahhh... shit, I'm sorry. Yeah Blaine, this is my friend Dale. He's been my best friend since the first grade... and he's kinda in the same boat as me when it comes to our dads," he quietly told me, his eyes brimming with unshed tears. "Hi Dale, it's good to meet you," I said as I extended my hand. He took it hesitantly, but his grip was firm and I could see in his eyes that he really loved Jerry. "I take it that you don't have any secrets from each other," I said, and seeing both heads nod, I continued. "Jerry, we haven't known each other very long, and it wasn't a good idea that I came here. I'm sorry about all the shit that has been going on in both of your young lives, but if we're going to be friends, then we can't start off with lies to each other." Both boys looked at me and then looked at each other. Suddenly, Jerry dropped his bag and jumped into my embrace, and I felt warm tears running down on my shoulder. As I held him close, I looked over to Dale who was looking anywhere but at the display in front of him. I saw movement in the window and looked over to see Joan looking back at me. I gave her a thumbs up signal that everything was ok, and she smiled and stepped away from the window. Jerry quit crying and started to pull back from me, and I looked up to see that Dale was holding out a towel for him. `These boys are really close,' I thought, `I'll bet I came between them.' Jerry wiped his eyes and looked sheepishly back at the two of us. "C'mon guys, let's go over to the cars," and I led them over to the lot. "Wow, that's your T-Bird Blaine?" Dale asked, seeing the car for the first time. Chuckling at his youthful exuberance, I answered, "Yeah, that's mine. Go ahead and get in if you want Dale," and watched as he ran ahead and got into the passenger seat. I did notice that he opened the door rather than jump over the side like so many teens would do. Jerry and I walked up and stood by the open door. "Look guys, it's obvious that you two have a thing together, and I sure didn't mean to come between you," I started, but the boys exchanged knowing glances, and then started to snicker. I was at a loss as to what had just taken place. "You two... ahh... wanna let me in on it?" Dale looked up at me guiltily, and then said, "Nah Blaine, it's not like that. We both love each other... a lot... but not like that. Hehehe, we've even shared partners sometimes. We'd do anything for each other, and I... ahh... I told him that ... uuhhhh, well ... that maybe he didn't know much about you and... and maybe he should take it easy," he almost whispered. "But now that I know you... welllll... maybe..." "No Dale, you were right. We don't know much about each other and I think I was thinking with the wrong head when I came over here," I told them, and they both smirked at that one. "Jerry, let's just wait and get together the next time you have a day off, ok? But you CAN call anytime if you want to talk..." I left it up in the air. "Thanks Blaine, I'm glad you understand," Jerry said to me. "I think I was thinking about like that too," he said as he pressed his hand down toward his groin and I saw his hard cock outlined in his khakis. "Hell Jerry, that's nuthin' new -- you're hard all the time... just like me," Dale said, and I saw him press down on his burgeoning hard-on. After a few more niceties and getting hugs from both of them, I watched as they got into Jerry's car, backed out, and drove out of the lot. I knew that I had Jerry's best interests at heart, but considering what all he'd been through in his life, I can't blame him for wanting to go slow. And Dale is probably the best kind of friend a person could ever have. I knew I'd see Jerry again, and probably quite soon. And judging from the closeness of Dale, I sure hoped I'd see him again too. I got back in the car and drove back home. The next couple of days were filled with playing catch-up around the office, and it wasn't until Wednesday afternoon when Dennis came into my office and reminded me of our dinner date that night. "Well, are you all ready for dinner and dancing and the whole clubbing gay scene?" he asked after he'd closed the door and sat down. "Huh, what scene?" I was startled back to reality, "Oh yeah, dinner with you and Michael. Yes, I've been looking forward to it, but have just been kinda busy this afternoon with Denver. What time is good to meet you two?" I asked. "Well, you sound enthused. When you first didn't remember, I wasn't sure," he commented, but being rather reserved. "We can do it some other time if you'd rather Blaine." "Nah, tonight's great. I really do wanna find out about this new side of my life, and how to meet people and everything, it's just the fear of an unknown situation that has made me a little nervous. There's no way that I'd ever get up the courage to go to a gay night club on my own; the prospect is just too intimidating. Being with two people that I know and trust will make my `coming out' a lot easier," I told him. He chuckled and said, "Well, at least you've got the lingo down. Where did you get that term `coming out', if you don't mind my asking?" "Off the Internet -- that IS what we do here, surf the net. I had a couple of free evenings since we talked on Monday, and I surfed around and found the gay yellow pages site, and then put in Sacramento and found a listing for several night spots. It seemed like the more I looked, the more information there was, so I just kept following links and found a site called National Coming Out Day, and they talked about people just like me. Us guys who just found out about ourselves late in life, usually after a failed relationship or something, and I felt like I was reading my biography." He looked at me with this strange look on his face; I guess it was between dumbstruck and awe. "Uuhh... yeah... I guess this is more than just a phase then if you're looking that deep," he finally got out. "Dennis, I've been lonely since Cindy moved, and now I realize that I have missed a big chunk of my life because I was just too dumb to figure it out. I was perfectly content just goin' along with the standard norm, and never questioned anything. Until last week, I'd never been presented with a situation that challenged that way of thinking, and I just went with what I had. I'm really looking forward to tonight and getting out there, but there is one thing," I said. "Ok, what's that?" Dennis responded, now that he had gotten over his initial skepticism. "Since I ain't got no learnin'," I started in my best imitation of a hick, "I'm relying on you guys to keep me straight and not let me do something really stupid. I don't want to make a fool out of myself too badly, and embarrass you and Michael," I told him. "Keep you `straight' huh," he grinned from ear to ear. I blushed realizing what I'd just said and followed up with, "See what I mean -- and I didn't even realize what I'd said until--" "I know, I know," he interrupted my stammering. "I can see that this is gonna be fun; I've never initiated a virgin before," he said, and then broke into laughter as he saw my incomprehension cloud my face. "The place we're goin' to is what's called a mixed club. It has the reputation of being the best dance club in the city, so it's frequented by straights and gays, so sometimes it gets a little dicey trying to figure out the players. Some of the guys actually go there to hit on the women and end up getting hit on themselves, so when that happens--" "Wait a minute, wait a minute; this place isn't all just guys? I kinda figured that the lesbians would have their own clubs somewhere, so I figured that it would just be guys," I said. "See, that's what I mean, it's real easy to make the wrong conclusions. I don't know what all you surfed on the net, but most of the gay world is pretty tolerant of most everyone, so you'll see a lot of different types of people there, especially tonight," he told me. "What's so special about tonight? Should we maybe go another night?" I asked. "No, no, that's the whole point. Tonight they have an amateur dance contest and a drag show, so it brings out a good sized crowd. Michael and I figured that that way you'd see a good cross-section of gay life, have some fun and a good dinner, and we'd be there to explain what we're sure you're gonna have questions about," Dennis patiently explained. I passed a hand through my hair as I took in all of the new information. "And here I was feeling pretty smug with myself for learning all about the gay lifestyle. Dennis, I'm really glad you guys will be there. Just by what little you've told me, I'm gonna have lots of questions. I just don't want to do something stupid and--" "Don't worry about it Blaine, after a few drinks, we'll all be stupid and so will the rest of the bar, so just have fun and enjoy yourself. We'll watch your back and try to answer the questions, but if you meet someone buddy, you're on your own," he chuckled as he got up. "We'll meet you outside the restaurant door, because there are four doors into the club, so be sure to go to the one under the restaurant sign. How about we meet at 6? That'll give us about two hours, will that be enough?" "Well, on that note, let's get the heck out of here and I'll meet you at 6," I said, closing down my computer and getting up. We walked out together and drove off, headed home to shower and change. I was as nervous as a kitten as I drove into the parking lot. I was surprised to find that I had to park some distance from the door; after all, this was Wednesday night, and most of the clubs I'd ever been too would have been dead in the middle of the week and only start hopping on Friday and Saturday nights. I locked the car and walked toward the sign to meet Dennis and Michael. As I approached, I saw a couple of nice looking guys get out of a car near where I was parked, then walk around to the back, take each other's hand, and the shorter of the two gave the taller man a quick kiss, then they walked hand in hand to the same entrance where I was headed. I wasn't particularly shocked; just surprised, I'd never paid enough attention to have seen that before in public. `This is going to take some getting used to,' I thought to myself as I saw Dennis and Michael waiting for me. "Hi guys," I said as I walked up, "It's good to see you again Michael," I said as I extended my hand. I noticed that they were both having a difficult time trying not to chuckle. "I just thought to myself that I have a lot to learn, and obviously my surprise is all over my face." "That's ok Blaine," Michael said as he shook my hand, "We both realized that we were gay when we were teenagers, and sometimes it's difficult to remember that far back, that's all. Let's go eat; I'm starved," he said as he held the door for us to enter. I don't know what I was expecting, but it actually just looked like most of the restaurants I've ever been in worldwide. Michael stepped up to the host and was recognized instantly. The host was quite the flamer and just gushed all over Michael and Dennis, and when he came to looking at me he said, "Weeeeeell, what have we here dahlings? Ohhhhh, you are a strong one too," he said as he passed his hand across the sleeve of my coat and firmly pressed against my bicep. "You might not want to get too close there Tony," Dennis saved me, "He presses your body weight just for fun. This is my business partner Blaine, and he's slumming tonight, so we dragged him in here with the promise that we'd watch out for him. Now, if you would like to take all three of us on..." "Oooooooh no, no, no, no -- I would never be able to sit down again," he gushed as he stepped back toward his station to check his book. "Ah yes, Dennis and Michael -- table for three; right this way gentlemen," and he picked up three menus and swished his way into the interior. My raised eyebrows must have been a tip-off, because they both giggled like schoolgirls as we followed Tony over to a nice table near the wall. After we were seated, and Tony had flittered away, I was beaten to the question when Michael said, "Tony can be a pain sometimes, especially with someone new. I let him know that you were aware of the game he was playing and that we were protecting you from the big bad nasties out there. He didn't like being caught out so quickly, but he'll get over it. I'm sure that by now he's spread the word that you're new, so you'll probably be inundated with a parade of people through the evening." "What my eloquent partner is trying to say is that because you're fresh meat, you ARE gonna get hit on. Since you didn't take the bait with Tony, you can bet that by the time we hit the club, every queen in here is gonna have bets as to what your `type' is, and they'll all be tryin' to make a score," Dennis chuckled. "Thanks for warning me; I'm sure glad I have you two to run interference for me tonight -- this is gonna be fun," I responded as I opened my menu. "I think you mentioned something about the prime rib here on Wednesdays," I said in general as I perused the room. I noticed that the uniforms of both waiters and busboys seemed to be tight white t-shirts with the club logo on the left, with tight black slacks. On some of the boys, they looked like they were sprayed on. I saw this cute little blond number head toward us, about 20 years old, with the typical college boy haircut. "Good evening gentlemen, my name is Steve and I'll be your waiter this evening. Would you like to start with any appetizers or wine for your dinner?" he said to the table in general. He seemed to be genuinely interested and not just "working a job" like so many wait staff I've met over the years. I watched him as he asked the other two for their orders, and he went about his job with a professional quality that I found intriguing. At least, that's what I would have told anyone who asked why I was staring, but the truth is that his package was right at eye-level, not three feet away, and I was wondering if the tube I saw running down his left leg was real or padding, when I was hit on the shoulder. "Wha...??" I looked over toward Dennis, then realizing that I was off in my own little world, I snapped my attention up to Steve's face, and I found him smiling back at me. "Uh... how's the prime rib tonight?" being the first thing that popped into my mind as I tried to recover. "It's excellent sir. Is that what you would like?" he asked, still grinning at me. After I had made my decisions concerning side dishes and salad, he took my menu and started to leave. I thought that maybe I might get out of this alive when he turned back to me and said, "And yes, it is real." My mouth must have dropped all the way to the floor because Michael and Dennis just roared -- not a small little chuckle, but a full on belly laugh. "Damn Dennis, we can't take the boy anywhere," Michael said and continued laughing. We must have been quite a scene, these two hyenas, and me so red-faced that I could hardly breathe, yet no one seemed to be upset by our shenanigans. I just sat there squirming in my chair, looking for the nearest mouse hole I could crawl into. Finally, these two were able to control themselves and after taking a drink of water, Michael extended his arm and patted me on the back and said, "He IS nice to look at, isn't he." "And you guys were supposed to protect me so that I didn't do something like that," I said looking directly at Dennis. Then I realized that I didn't feel bad about what had transpired; I just felt like I was with friends, that everything was ok with these two, and I could make all the social faux pas and they still wouldn't judge me. It was a grand feeling to have new friends like them. I saw the silliness and started laughing right along with them. Another fine looking young man approached the table with a bottle of wine and went through the usual ritual before pouring us all. "Wow, this is some classy place; a separate host to seat you, a different waiter, and now a different wine steward." "Usually that's not the case sir," replied our steward, "But Steve isn't old enough to serve alcohol." We all just looked at each other, and then we all burst out laughing again. This was gonna be a strange night. It took us about an hour and a half to finish a truly scrumptious meal. The guys introduced the various people who made their way to our table "just to say hi." We must have been interrupted half a dozen times until we were approached by this very distinguished looking gentleman with salt `n pepper hair and a clipped moustache. He was introduced as Malcolm Gunderson and he was the owner of the establishment. We chatted for a bit, and Dennis mentioned that we were being `scrutinized' and he understood at once. He said that he would take care of it, and because of the occasion (my `coming out) he insisted that we indulge in his decadent dessert tray on the house. I watched him approach Tony, whisper in his ear for perhaps five seconds, and then move on to Steve, who nodded his response and approached our table. "Blaine, they have the absolute best burnt crème custard with a chocolate glaze sauce and I recommend it highly," Dennis told me. Steve had heard the last part of our conversation so he waited expectantly. I was trying to figure out if I had enough room for dessert which must have been interpreted as indecision on my part. "Or if you would prefer sir, I can bring over the dessert tray for your selection," Steve followed up the lull in the conversation. "No, that's not it, I was just wondering if I had enough room for dessert, that's all," I managed to get out still being entranced by this boy. He leaned closer and whispered, "Or maybe a little fresh cream would be more to your liking!" As he straightened back up I could swear that the tube in those skin-tight slacks had lengthened. I was speechless -- which brought on a fit of giggles from the other two. He looked over to the other two and said, "That would be three burnt crème then, I presume?" The other two said yes, but all I could do was to dumbly nod my head. I watched as that gorgeous little boy butt walked back to the kitchen. "Wow, you really like the young ones," Dennis muttered just as I was taking a drink of coffee. Of course, it went up my nose when I tried to drink, and cough at the same time, so it took a few seconds before I could even begin to stutter out an answer. "Leave him alone; Steve's cute. If I weren't already taken--" Michael started to say before he was so rudely slapped on the arm. About that time Steve returned with three wild looking plates that had this wonderful concoction in pewter custard cups, topped with a light chocolate glaze, but I noticed that the one I was served had a slightly different cream topping on it. I wasn't about to ask; I just spooned right into it. The low din coming from the bar area next door was growing, so it was obvious that things were heating up in there. "Well, if everyone's ready we can still get a table for the contest if we get in there," Michael informed us. "Sure, I'm ready," I told them, and we got up to move this show into the other room. "I'm gonna go hit the head, you guys save me seat, I'll be right there," I said, spying the men's room on the way. As they moved on into the bar, I found my way back to Tony and asked him to prepare a bill for our meals. He seemed startled and related to me that they usually just ran a tab and put everything on their monthly account. I told him that I wanted to get the dinner tonight and gave him my gold card, telling him I'd return after the men's room visit. I stepped into the men's room but hadn't taken three steps when I heard the door open and felt a hand on my shoulder. Steve was standing there and asked, "Are you ready for your dessert?" He leaned forward and gave me a kiss that rapidly developed into a full blown tonguefest. He broke the kiss, took my hand, and said, "In here," and pulled me into a stall. We didn't waste any time but immediately resumed where we'd left off. I could feel my full bladder so I reluctantly pulled us apart. "Steve, I came in here for a reason, and now I HAVE to go," I said as I looked pleadingly into his eyes. He reached for my zipper but I pushed his hand away. "If you do that, I never will get to piss." He chuckled lightly but moved over just a bit so I could get access to the toilet. I fished out my cock and heard him whistle. I knew that if I looked at him I'd loose it, so I concentrated on the work at hand. As I was shaking it off, I felt his hand snake around and do it for me. "Thanks," I told him as I looked back into his eyes. "We close the dining room at 10, and I'm usually finished with my side work by 11..." Steve told me but just left it hanging. "When you get off, why don't you join us in the dance club?" I asked him. He looked at me kinda sheepishly but told me, "I can't go in there; I'm not old enough." "Uuhh... Steve, just how old are you?" I asked hesitantly, expecting him to say twenty. "I just turned 18," he admitted. "That's why I had to have Billy serve your wine tonight. Malcolm has a rule that if I'm caught in the bar area, since it's his license on the line, then I'm automatically fired. And Tony would just loooovvee for THAT to happen." "You two having problems?" I asked him looking into his bright hazel eyes. "You could say that. He thinks I'm trying to take his job, and he's always trying to get me into trouble with the kitchen. Malcolm knows what's going on, but that doesn't stop him from trying. I have built up a good clientele, like Michael and Dennis, who ask for me when they come in, and it just frosts him `cause he's always trying to make a play for anything in pants that comes through the door," he confided. "Yeah, I kinda noticed that when I came in. It's not that I'm not liking you standing here stroking my dick for me, and I really would love to taste yours, but I'm just not in to quickies. When you're ready to leave, can you get word to me? I'd much prefer to make this last a lot longer." His face lit up when I asked after him like that. "I can do that," he told me, "And I don't like quickies either. Thank you for being so nice, but I think we both need to get back." I fastened myself up and we both moved over to the washstands and cleaned ourselves up. As we left the men's room together, I saw that Tony caught his eye and glared at him, but his demeanor changed completely when I approached him to settle my bill. "Everything ready?" I asked. "Yes sir, I didn't total it yet; I didn't know if you wanted to add something for your server," and he turned back to check his book for the next couple who were standing there. I'm sure he didn't mean for me to hear him mutter under his breath, "The little tart." As he seated the couple, I added a hundred dollar gratuity to the bottom of my receipt, totaled it, signed it, and tore apart the copies. "And you'll see to it that Steve gets his tip?" I asked as he returned. "Oh yes sir, we always make sure they get their..." but he stopped short when he glanced at the receipt. "And just for future reference Tony, I like this place and I will be coming in here again -- on a very regular basis, and I would hate to hear that you and Steve were still having problems. And I'm sure that my friends Michael and Dennis would feel the same way, so I would strongly suggest that you lay off the kid and just let him do his job." I could see that he was really steamed at this turn of events, and I was sure that he'd make sure that he was a snide and snotty with Steve as he thought he could get away with, so I leaned over and shook his hand, telling him how much I really enjoyed eating at his dining room and how much I was looking forward to a return visit. I almost broke his hand in my grip, but there was really nothing he could do without causing a scene. I'm sure he got my message as I let him go, looked him directly in the eyes, smiled, and turned on my heel to join my friends. "Damn, I thought we were gonna have to call out the national guard for a search party," Dennis said as I sat down on a barstool. "Did everything come out all right?" he grinned over at me. "Oh yeah, better than all right. I have a date for later tonight, so long about eleven, you guys are on your own," I grinned like the proverbial Cheshire Cat. The guys exchanged shocked looks, but then their surprise turned to smirks as they figured out what was going on. "You DAWG!!!" Michael said and raised his glass to me in a salute. "Steve, I take it," Dennis smirked on the other side of me. "Yep, he accosted me in the men's room and forced me to take him home tonight after he's off," I told them. "Yeah, I'll bet," Michael remarked. We watched the country line dancing that was going on followed by an old fashioned limbo contest. I noticed that the club was filling with several more patrons of both genders, and several caught my eye. There was one gal who real had some good moves on the dance floor and she filled out her jeans well. Between dances, she joined a table of other girls who seemed to be enjoying themselves. Flitting around the outskirts were several "ladies" who seemed to be heavily made up. I leaned close to Dennis and whispered, "Drag Queens?" He followed my gaze and nodded, confirming my suspicions. I'd never seen one up close before; my only knowledge was of the few movies I'd seen like that one where Patrick Swazye and Wesley Snipes portrayed drag queens on a road trip, or another one where several drag queens were in a bus traveling the outback of Australia. One of the "ladies" approached our table and I was introduced to `Dolly' who really didn't look half bad except for the pronounced Adam's apple. As the evening progressed, I was asked to dance by both men and women, and since I do like to dance, I didn't turn anyone down. The first time I stepped onto the dance floor with a man for a partner, I felt quite self-conscience, but after a few moments of being there I realized that it was actually quite liberating, so I just relaxed and enjoyed myself. I had just returned from a bar run and noticed that our table had been joined by the good looking young lady that I had seen when I first sat down. She seemed to be friends of the guys, so I just walked up with our drinks and sat down on my vacated stool. "Blaine, this is Kelly. We've know each other for several years, and she's been pumping us for information about you," Dennis said, which earned him an elbow in the ribs. She extended a delicate hand toward me and I gently shook it, not wanting to over grip her. She had a firm shake and seemed to hold it longer than usual. I looked up at her and was caught in the stare of beautiful, chestnut brown, moon shaped eyes. Her features were nice to look at with long eyelashes and full lips. What little make-up she did wear was tastefully applied. As my gaze lowered, I saw that her chest was expanded by small, pert boobs; just the type I liked. She spoke in a melodic voice that was easy on the ears. I took the plunge and asked, "Would you care to dance?" She didn't say anything but just smiled and lifted that cute little butt off the stool. As we were making our way to the dance floor, the song that was playing ended and they DJ announced that they had another song as part of the dance contest. We stopped and looked at each a moment waiting to see what he was going to play. "We've had some requests for a slow dance as part of the competition, so, in honor of all of these old folks we have here, the next song will be a waltz. So grab your partner and head onto the floor for "The Tennessee Waltz." "Well, I'm game if you are," Kelly said to me. "Let's see if all those ballroom lessons my mom gave us has actually held," I told her and we headed onto the floor with only four other couples. As the music started, she leaned gracefully into my arms in the classical dance position, and was very easy to lead. As my confidence swelled, I thought maybe we'd try a spin more like a Strauss waltz, so I increased my grip a bit and held her a bit closer. She looked into my eyes and I said, "Ready for a few moves?" "Anytime you are hot stuff, just lead and I'll do my best to follow," she replied. I took a deep breath and started a quarter turn spin with each full step, gradually increasing to a half turn with each step. She felt so light on her feet and I decided to try a dip that I hadn't performed since my teenage years being taught by my mother in her dance studio so many years ago. Kelly followed gracefully and added a little flourish of her own as we exited the dip and swirl. She was grinning as much as I was, and we continued through the end of the music. "Well, well, I think we have a couple of ringers here folks," the DJ said as a round of applause sounded around the room. Kelly and I didn't think much about it, so we started off the floor, heading back to our table. "Hey, where ya goin?" we heard and looked back toward the DJ booth. I pointed at us and he said, "Yeah, you two... come on up here and tell us your names." I was so embarrassed at being so out of my element and now in the spotlight, I was all for racing to the nearest exit, but Kelly had my hand and she started across the floor toward the DJ booth. "Well folks, I know Kelly here, but you're new," he said, looking directly at me, "Tell us a little about yourself." "Well... uuhh... my name is Blaine Rawlins, and this is my first time in the club," I responded, my mind going blank and just operating on autopilot. "What do you do for a living Blaine?" "I have my own Internet security firm. We do corporate security for firms around the world. I'm here with my business partner and his significant other. I've never been to a gay club before, and they offered to take my out tonight for my debut." Hearing the cat calls around the room, I thought that maybe I had stuck my foot in my mouth. "And Kelly, you've been coming here for a while now, but what do you do for a living?" he asked my dance partner. "I'm Kelly Evans, and I'm assistant to Senator Keats in the State legislature." Her voice sounded like it had slipped an octave and I was impressed by her job. I knew that Senator Keats was an openly gay senator from San Francisco, and had been in the news quite a bit in support of hate crimes legislation. I couldn't remember ever seeing any press releases that featured this nice looking woman, so I turned to look at her, and got the shock of my life. Under the bright intensity of the spotlight, I could see a shadow on her chin, and then noticed the signs of an Adam's apple that were now apparent in profile that I just didn't see before. We answered a few more mundane questions, but all I could think about was the fact that my great looking girl dance partner was really a boy! At least I had presence of mind enough to NOT look down to check out `her' crotch. We started off the floor amid a nice round of applause when `she' leaned over and whispered, "You didn't know, did you?" I was still dumbfounded and could only shake my head as we neared our table. "I gotta go pee guys," `she' announced when we got to the table, "We'll be back in a bit." And I could feel myself being pulled in the direction of the restrooms. To Be Continued...
