Leo came down after a while leaving Mike and Tanner cuddled up in bed, as
he walked in the lounge he could smell pancakes,

"You made pancakes again?" Leo asked Tina,

"Nope... Brandy did!" Tina said smiling,

Leo went to get coffee and rejoined them in the lounge, before long Mike
came down carrying Tanner, Tanner looked so happy in Mike's arms, his head
buried in Mike's neck. The smell of pancakes soon got his attention and he

"Pancakes?" Tanner asked as Mike set him down on the floor,

"Yep... how many do you want?" Brandon asked smiling,

"It's ok I can make them!" Mike said,

Mike knew that Brandy was being serious so he smiled and said ok, Tanner
asked for three and Brandy went off to make them. Soon the smell had
brought the other boys down too and Brandon made many more pancakes for
them as well. Brandon was happy to have made food for his family, it felt
like he was giving something back for all the love and care he had
received, Mike and Leo complimented him as they helped clean up, that
really lifted his spirits and made him feel good.

By late morning everyone had full bellies and were in high spirits, Leo
took Ben to his mum's for the afternoon, she didn't get to see him on his
11th birthday yesterday, in fact it had been a while since they last saw
each other. Ben wasn't too keen on on going but knew he needed to do this

The other boys were taken out to the forest for a walk and fresh air since

remembered how being pregnant felt, feelings only a birth mother can feel,
she wondered if she would ever be expecting a baby again, it would be many
years before she could try again if she was with Ben, but she hoped one day
they might have kids.

With only just over a month till Luke's birth, Susan finally felt happy
about it, she knew this time she would not be alone like she was with
Jacob, she felt this time she could love her baby and be loved back. She
knew with the support of her new family she could do thinks better, deep
inside she felt excited, she really did want this, she wanted to be a good
mother.

The boys enjoyed their walk and came back tired but happy, Leo went off to
pick up Ben, he had spent the afternoon with his mum seen as his 11th
birthday was yesterday. Leo arrived at Ben's mum Charlotte's house, his
heart sank when he saw Ben waiting outside to be picked up, he could see

not fair on you"

"Will she ever get better?" asked Ben,

"I don't know son... I hope so!"

"Well till then... I'm never going... back here again" Ben said angrily,

"No one's going to force you to do anything Ben... but please don't give up
on her... she's still your mum even if she is damaged" Leo said gently,

"I don't care any-more!" Ben shouted defiantly,

"Ok... ok... let's go home ok?" Leo said knowing it was pointless to carry
on talking right now.

As Leo went to put Ben's seatbelt on him, he locked eyes with Charlotte as
she stood in the front window watching them. The pain in her eyes was
evident, it was as if she wanted to cry but lacked the ability to do
so. Leo's heart felt for her and wondered if she could ever heal and become
the person Ben needed. A part of him was angry because she had to know Ben
was hurting but did nothing to stop it. He knew if she kept this up she
would only lose her son, which would only hurt her more. Leo also knew it
wasn't fair for Ben to shoulder his mum's problems, to deal with feeling
unloved and unwanted. The death of Ben's father loomed over the family, in
some ways Ben lost both parents that day. Leo knew above all that Ben must
be the main focus.

It was what Charlotte had asked of he and Mike, to love and care for Ben,
it gave him a glimmer of hope to think of this as this proved Charlotte
still loved her son. She had agreed to let Ben stay with Leo and Mike as
much as the boy wanted, another act of love. Leo's heart hoped that one day
Charlotte could heal, but today was not that day and he had to think of Ben
and his needs. Ben was the most important person and needed to be paramount
in his thoughts. In the future if there was a way to help Charlotte, he
felt confident they would.


When they got home Ben ran straight to Tina, she took him next-door to calm
down and talk, Leo knew it was best to leave them be for now, he told Mike
what had happened and his thoughts, Mike agreed that Ben must come first

Josh and Tyler were even more confused, they had known Tanner and Jacob for

even dads. Tanner could see them struggling to understand,

"Look our dads adopted us some brothers and we're one big happy
family...ok?" Tanner asked,

"Yeah..ok... so Brandon... he walks you to school now?" Josh asked,

"Yep... he likes to make sure we get to school safely" Benji chimed in,

"Because of what we did?..." Tyler asked sadly,

"No silly... just because he cares about us" Jacob explained,

"What's he done now?" Tanner asked,

"Nothing... he... he was just... just mean all weekend..." Josh stuttered,

Tanner put his hand softly on Josh's shoulder,

"What happened?" Tanner asked again calmly,

"Nothin... ok!" Josh said looking away,

"Josh... what happened?" Tanner said more assertively,

Tanner felt Josh's shoulder start to heave, he knew Josh was trying to hid
his tears, he reached out and turned Josh to face him, as their eyes met
Josh broke down and desperately hugged Tanner,

"He... he hurt me!" Josh said quickly as his tears consumed him.
