He left no stone unturned, and Jaden heard more about diseases, morgues, pain, tears, hunger, weapons, drugs, and bad sex than he could bear. "Are you still listening?" Jaden's tea had long grown cold. And then quietly his voice returned, Jackson...but I am gay. Is this what my life is going to be?" "No, little darling. You're so young, how do you know that you're gay?" "Cause I am attracted to men. I've known it for awhile. I may be kind of stupid about a lot of things, but I know that when I see male actors on TV I want to, well you know." "So for you it's just a matter of time until someone really loves you. If you didn't crash into me you might have had some bad experiences like I told you. Believe me Jaden with the right man it is anything but bad." "Well you're gay right?" "Damn straight, I've been gay many more years than even your Mother was on this planet." "Oh, Were you ever in love?" "Yes, there were times when I loved more than it was returned, and perhaps other time when I did the same to another, but there were a few rare occasions where it was give and take. Let me show you something, or I should say someone." Jackson opened his sideboard and took out an album. The pictures were all in black and white. In several were two young men. They stood beside each other, one was tall and lean, and the other looked like a young version of Jackson. "That is Ned. How we would have loved to hold on to each other, or at least hold hands for those pictures, but you would never do things like that back then. You'd lose your jobs and get thrown in jail." "What happened to him?" "I don't know how much you know about history, but he was killed in Korea. You could say he was my great love. I didn't even attend his funeral. I was never told that there was one. He had gotten drafted, and we wrote but after I didn't hear from him for a month I knew. Actually I knew before. I knew when he left me I would never see him again. Things are a bit better now for you young ones. That's why we have to keep you safe. You can marry each other now, and some day you'll even have all the rights of anyone else God willing." "Pretty amazing. I'm glad you showed me the picture of Ned. He was gorgeous." "Yes he was." "Did you guys make love a lot." "No not as much as we wished as it was hard to find privacy but when we were together it was great, fireworks and all that stuff especially the last time before he was shipped overseas." "Please tell me, you shared all the crude stuff with me, bad sex, and dangerous sex, you still say that it is very good, tell me what good sex is like." "Didn't you ever go on the Internet...at pictures of gay men...I suppose not?" "Noo" "Well it's like this, we didn't even have to do more than just look at each other for that certain sex barometer to get hard. I used to look at him and I would ache down there. He was what they say today all that, six pack, and hung to die for. We would taste deep of each other, and offer each other that other pleasure where you can merge into each other's body. Anal sex with him was a revelation. It didn't matter who was doing what to who, it was the sweat and the rhythm of the best part, you know right before it all comes pouring out, and it's over, I could get into that cosmic dance with Ned like no one since, besides all that he was just so nice and kind. He was a fine man, the finest." "Humm" "So you grow up a bit my man and find yourself someone to really love, ok." "Even if it ends so sadly like you and Ned." "Damit boy, you never get a time schedule in love, so always only accept the best, and take each day like it's the last. And the first, ya hear me. I don't want to hear you ever returned to the streets." "Well what am I going to do Jackson. I'm too young to get a job, and I'm afraid to go back to the Center. My Mother is dead...and I don't have anyone else." "You sure you don't have any family anywhere?" "No, there was only Mom and me." "Well, you can stay here for a few days if you want. I can't easily say that you are a relative but if anyone gets suspicious, it's their problem. But if I did let you stay here you more than a few days I know my nosy neighbors might say something to my Landlord, and he'd love to get me out of here, as this unit is still state subsidized. Anymore it's almost considered cool to rat on one another." "Tattle tales" "Yeah, we've become a society of do-gooders, but since I'm not a registered do-gooder I can't offer you a real home. Well a few days will give us some time at least to think of something. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Ty: The streets were tremendously depressing. The only bright spot was when I heard that Anton had arrived back safely. I must have talked to dozens of street people, pimps, bums, dealers and prostitutes. I was lucky I wasn't mugged. I went into areas and places where a young kid could hang out. I was at the end of my time. I hated seeing the sites of homelessness and poverty, decadence and hostility. I almost believe that society is only as good as the lowest of its citizens, and seeing the aged young hurt the most. Anton was right. There was no excuse to allow a boy to live out here when there was plenty of waste and empty bedrooms even in this fair city. Something had to be done, but I didn't have an answer myself, I just wanted to go home. Well, I was going to give it one more day, and then I was going home. As I walked back to my car I spotted a fairly young kid get out of a man's car, he was re-adjusting himself, I think he pulled up his zipper. I knew if I walked over to him he would think that I was interested in sex. I decided to leave him alone. What would he know. I noted his black curls, and then I heard another kid yell out, "Perry." Oh what the hell I thought two kids around Jaden's age. I would show them his picture, and give them a few dollars for their troubles. No other strings attached. "Hey, guys," I called out. "Can you do me a favor? " They sauntered over slowly. I pulled out Jaden's picture. "You ever seen this kid." "Why, what do you want to know for?" I though his voice sounded so suspicious that he might really know where the kid was. I told the story as sadly as I knew how about his dying Uncle, and how I was desperate to find him. "Well, I saw him three nights ago around here, but he disappeared." The first boy said. "You sure it was him?" "Yeah, he didn't know his ass from a crack in the sidewalk, but he was pretty." "Where did he go?" "No clue?" "Was he with anyone?" "No, just me. Well I went off and when I came back he was gone." "If you see him will you give him this card and tell him to call. I handed Perry our business card." "Yeah, Ok." I doubted that would ever happen but at least now I had hope, and I knew that I was in the right area to find Jaden, if he was going to be found.
